Rom 8:17
And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. [NLT]
We see in our text that if we must share in Christ’s glory we must also share in his suffering. The reason why it is suffering is because we are in a body of flesh. This flesh cannot please God, it cannot carry this glory we are to inherit and it indeed tries to drag us away from our father. Taking up your cross; crucifying the flesh is the suffering of Christ. We must deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Christ. We must change the way we think. We must let the mind of Christ dominate us- we must choose to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh if we must share in this glory of Christ. If we pass this stage of conquering flesh, persecutions and the likes are a small matter.
Go into today knowing that God has given you the grace to live above the flesh. This grace is manifested when you walk in the spirit. Walking in the spirit is activated when you are filled with the spirit and submitted to His authority and leading.
Prayer: thank you heavenly father for saving me. I pray you help me crucify the flesh by walking daily in the Spirit. Deliver me from doing evil, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
