Romans 12:2 (J.B. Phillips New Testament) Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.

There is this interesting scene from a movie of a grocery store keeper who greatly distrusted politicians believing nothing good comes from them. So, this day, as he was setting up for the day’s business and rambling on about the hypocrisy of politicians, midway through his rant, his assistant called his attention to the expiry date of the dairy products which was due the next day. Without missing a beat the storekeeper asked her to switch the labels with a new one with a more distant expiry date and continued his ranting about the ‘rottenness’ of politicians.

The irony of the moment was lost on the sanctimonious storekeeper who was always filled with righteous indignation. He tried to maintain his moral high ground even though he was as guilty of corruption as the politicians he sorely detested.

Now to the labels. What happened when the storekeepers change those labels is that he is rechristening the products in a way that does not align with reality. He was inadvertently calling bad, good, and convincing his unsuspecting buyers to accept as true what was false.

This is a good analogy for what happens when society keeps shifting the goalpost on various moral issues and pressures the believer to fall in line. You are called a bigot if you believe the claims of the gospel, a misogynist if you uphold the Bible’s teachings on marriage, brainwashed if you believe the Bible is the (written) word of God, intolerant if you believe that Jesus is indeed the (only) way to the Father.

These new labels have been systematically put up to coerce the believer to lower his standards, to open wide his arms to any and every doctrine the world comes up with, and to derail the believer from the path of righteousness. It is a craftily devised strategy to force the believer into the mold of the world system.

Do not accept these labels that seek to make you ashamed to be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Be gentle as a dove and also wise as a serpent (See Matthew 10:16). Stand firm, unshakable, holding fast to that which you have received of the Lord and unabashedly walking in the light of his word.

Go into today rejoicing that you are a child of God, and that if you are incompatible with the world’s system, so was Jesus.

Proverbs 26:2 (NET) Like a fluttering bird or like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause does not come to rest.
When Dare wanted to be delivered from the curse in his life, he sought to establish contact with the pastor who placed a curse on him, but since he was now living in Europe, he had lost all contact with that church and didn't know how to reestablish it. As he prayed and sought counsel from his current pastor, he realized that what the Lord needed him to do was to truly repent and forsake his former ways that made it possible for that curse to alight and remain in his life.

After repenting before the Lord, soon enough, he was tested with that same kind of temptation. The company he was now working with gave him a new role that meant he was going to be handling a lot of money with little supervision. If he had not repented, he knew the "sharp" practices he would have employed to systematically game the system and make some extra money, but Dare now proposed in his heart not to go that way again. This was the fruit of repentance needed to demonstrate his freedom from the iniquity that made him a captive to curses.

Unknown to him, passing that test was proof that he had truly repented from the iniquity in his heart that was a magnet for that curse. Consequently, he was automatically delivered.

Before a curse can alight on a person's life, there needs to be a cause; a corresponding iniquity that the curse exploits. The same goes for generational curses. Generational iniquities and proclivities of the heart are the requirements for generational curses to continue to find expression in any life. In order for curses to be broken, iniquities need to be forsaken. Only the power of Christ can truly deliver any man from the power of iniquity. Becoming like Christ is the only true remedy to iniquity in the heart.

Go into today remembering that the way to break free of all curses is to be free of iniquity. Becoming like Christ is the sure path to this.

Proverbs 26:2 (NET) Like a fluttering bird or like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause does not come to rest.

At 42, Dare was still unsettled in life. He wasn't married and was still moving from place to place, living with his friends who were now tired of housing him. By the time he turned 43, he did some personal reflection and realized that his inability to settle down and prosper was abnormal. He traced back and realized that this all started 8 years ago when his former pastor placed a curse on him.

He used to be a worker under this pastor when they had a falling out and Dare told him he wanted to leave the church. The pastor was so grieved that he said "you want to leave? You can go, but know you will never settle down in life".

This is what really happened: the church was moving to their new venue and bought some pricey musical instruments and equipment. Dare was the deacon who oversaw all of that, but there were allegations that he misappropriated millions during the process. His pastor got wind of the disturbing allegations and wanted to find out what was really going on. It was in the middle of this process that Dare informed his pastor that he was leaving the church. Indeed, Dare had used his position to divert millions of Naira into his personal account.

Eight years had passed, and it was now clear to Dare that his life was under the limiting force of a curse. He was now sorry for his conduct and wanted the curse to be broken.

That curse could alight on Dare's life because he was not guiltless but was a thief. He needed to repent of that iniquity in order to break free of that curse.

Many people are operating under curses because their lives have been warped by iniquity. In order to break free of such curses, there needs to be true repentance before God, and sometimes before man.

Go into today remembering that no curse can alight upon you if you walk uprightly before the Lord. Generational curses will only find expression in the life of the person who has not broken free from the generational iniquity that made it possible for that curse to alight.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk uprightly and above all curses and limitations. Repent of every transgression of God’s law that can be used as a basis for curses.

Confession: I am free in Christ; Free of curses and limitations. I am blessed and prosperous. In Jesus' name.

Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Cain and Abel were siblings. A time came when they offered a sacrifice to God. Cain’s sacrifice was rejected while Abel’s was accepted (Gen 4:4-5). Cain was displeased and was angry because God had no respect for him and his sacrifice. When God saw this He spoke to Cain and warned him saying ‘‘If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it." (Gen 4:7 ESV). But Cain chose to reject God's warning, refused to rule over sin, and eventually murdered his brother Abel. God again came to him and asked, ‘‘where is Abel your brother?’’, but even at this, Cain showed no remorse but responded arrogantly, ‘‘I don’t know, am I my brother’s keeper?’’. Because he chose to reject God willfully, God cursed him and sent him out of His presence (Gen 4:11-12), even after this he would not ask God for forgiveness, he left the presence of God instead and started a civilization that was against God (Gen 4:16).

Esau and Jacob were also children of the same parents, Esau sold his birthright to Jacob and Jacob eventually stole Esau’s blessing (Gen 27:36). Esau became angry and sought to kill Jacob his brother, but when he heard his father’s word concerning his future (Gen 27:40) he changed his mind concerning his plan and in the cause of time, he also became great (Gen 33:4-9).

Anyone who refuses God’s forgiveness by willfully continuing in sin has chosen the path of destruction.

Hebrews 2:3 (KJV) ‘‘How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him''

Go into today knowing that to willfully continue in sin is to willfully depart from the presence and covering of God.

Prayer: Ask the Lord for grace to always submit to the Holy Spirit.

2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)…Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Benson carefully observed that for the past three years, things in his life have only become worse. He couldn’t understand why this was the case.

He slept and had a dream in which he saw himself being chased by a wolf. Just when he was about to fall down a cliff, he looked back to see the face of the wolf and saw that the wolf’s face was that of his prophet. He met this prophet three years ago and the prophet accurately predicted the things that were happening in Benson's life. Benson was now hooked to this prophet and could not take any move in life without first consulting him.

With prayers and revelation, Benson came to discover that the reason he was impoverished was because he had exposed himself to the ministry of this prophet who was a false prophet.

We can learn from today’s Bible verse that one of God’s spiritual channels for ministering prosperity to His people is through the ministry of His prophets (also see Ezra 6:14). Real prophets of God minister God’s deliverance and prosperity to God’s people (see Hos 12:13) while false prophets come offering the same, but they are Satan’s tool for plundering God’s people of spiritual and physical substance [in the long run]. There is a reason why the Lord refers to them as ravenous wolves (see Mat 17:15). Note that this effect false prophets have is only on those who are the real sheep of the Lord and not on the goats and the wolves.

Go into today remembering that God establishes prosperity upon His people through the ministry of His prophets. The devil plunders God’s people through the ministry of his false prophets disguised as true prophets.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from the ministry of every false prophet.

Be Strong and Confident

Psalms 31:24 (NET) Be strong and confident, all you who wait on the Lord!

When Henry was in the hospital recovering from open-heart surgery, the doctors and nurses all had this to say about him: "He is really strong". They said this not because of his physical strength, but because of his willpower and determination to recover against all odds. He was determined to get well despite the many complications that came. He was always positive and didn't seem to ever allow depression and sorrow to overshadow him. He eventually got well and was discharged.

One attribute that should always be found in the lives of those who wait on the Lord is strength and confidence. Strength is the ability not to be discouraged when others are. It is that spirit that makes you see the possibilities when others are complaining and quitting. Those who wait on the Lord cannot afford to be complainers and quitters. They are optimistic and hopeful because the one in whom they trust is the Lord of the heavens and the earth.

Being strong and being confident in life always go together. We are admonished to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Being strong in the Lord means never giving up and complaining. It means never letting circumstances control our mood. Strong people don't let circumstances control their mood, they contain circumstances with their faith and courage.

Go into today remembering that in order to be fruitful in waiting on the Lord, you must be strong and confident. Replace every complaining in your heart with thanksgiving and praise to the Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to be strong and confident as I navigate this journey of life. Help me to see your goodness in the land of the living, In Jesus' name. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NET)The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Daramola observed that many things they taught in the church didn’t make too much sense to him. Even though he was born into a Christian family, he did not understand how a person would live for a kingdom that they cannot see. As far as he was concerned, life was about making as much money as possible and enjoying the money.

One of the first things that happened to him when he became born again was that it became clearer and clearer to him how empty and vain worldly possessions really were. They could no longer satisfy him, and unlike before when he sought to get satisfaction by seeking more of them, he now understood that the material things of this world didn’t have the ability to satisfy. He didn’t have this wisdom before. He kept running after more and more and was never really satisfied (Eccl 1:12).

Daramola came to realize that the solution to the thirst and hunger in his soul was only found in Christ. For the first time in his life, he found rest for his soul (see Matt 11:29). He was no more seeking to be validated by things and people; he knew he was accepted and loved by Almighty God (Eph 1:6).

If you notice that the things of the Spirit of God are beginning to look less important to you, it is an indication that your faith is under attack. You may want to spend more time in prayer and be more careful about the persons you spend much of your time with (see 2 Cor 6:14). Unbelief is a spiritually contagious disease.

Go into today remembering that as believers, we are kingdom agents who live for the advancement of God’s kingdom. Everything else comes second (see Matt 6:33).

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 (NET) each builder’s work will be plainly seen, for the Day will make it clear, because it will be revealed by fire. And the fire will test what kind of work each has done. If what someone has built survives, he will receive a reward. If someone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

Chinedu started very well as a minister of the gospel, but along the way, he started mixing with the wrong folk and lost his focus. His closest friends were now fellow ministers of the gospel who were truly ministers to their belly. Their belly was their God and they minded earthly things (Phil 3:19). Their goal was fame and fortune and their real god was mammon. In no long time, Chinedu's fellowship with them corrupted him and he became like them.

The dream Chinedu had was like a reset button. Through it, he realized that he was not building according to pattern and his work would have been rejected. He repented and knew he needed to part ways with those friends. This was difficult but necessary if he was going to continue to serve God acceptably.

In today's Bible verses, Apostle Paul likened the church to a building. Those who the Lord uses to build the church are the leaders(the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers). While some will build with gold and precious material, others will build with perishable materials. A servant of God whose affection is set on things above, and based on the kingdom, is building with precious stones. But a servant of God whose affection has been set on earthly things (money and fame) will build with perishable materials.

A believer who lives for himself is building with perishable materials. But a believer who lives to please the Lord will set his affection on things above and will thus build with precious materials.

Go into today remembering that your life and motives will be evaluated before the Lord. Live with this consciousness and receive help from the Lord through faith.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 (NET) So then whether we are alive or away, we make it our ambition to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be paid back according to what he has done while in the body, whether good or evil.

Chinedu had a very disturbing dream. In that dream, he saw that he was disqualified as a minister of the gospel. After this dream, he thought long and deep as he examined his life to see if he was truly serving the Lord accordingly. He painfully discovered that his motivation for ministry had shifted from a desire to raise disciples of Christ to a desire to be "successful" in eyes of men. That dream reminded him of something he was not to forget as a servant of the Lord; it reminded him that he was going to give an account to the Lord for how he served as a minister of the gospel. He had forgotten this truth and lived as if the approval of men was what mattered.

One of the saddest things that will happen to any believer is appearing before the Lord Jesus and finding out that He is not pleased with the way you lived your life. May we appear before Him and hear "well done, good and faithful servant".

Go into today remembering that there is nothing this present world has to offer that is close to the glory and power we will receive when the Lord returns. Don't allow the ephemeral things of this world to distract you from being faithful to the one to whom you are accountable.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me always remember that I will give an account to you for my stewardship here on earth.

Romans 5:20 (NET) Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more

Simon was so depressed that he could not pray and didn't even want to go to fellowship. He believed he had failed God too many times and God would not be willing to have anything to do with Him. But after he summoned the courage to go to church that evening, he heard a sermon about God's abundant grace. He immediately knew that even though his sins were big, God's grace was bigger. Because he received the forgiveness of God, he was determined to talk to his pastor about his struggles because he didn't want to go back to where he was before he came to church that day. He was guided to some spiritual disciplines that the Lord used to deliver him from bondage to certain sins.

Yesterday, we saw that grace is like the detergent and effort put into washing a dirty vessel or cloth. The dirtier a cloth, the more the detergent and effort required to wash it. The good news is that we serve an unlimited God with abundant grace. There is sufficient grace in God to wash the vilest of sinners and turn them into saints. Even after you have believed and have been washed, God does not want you to sin and His grace ensures this, but if you sin, there is still sufficient grace to cleanse you and make you clean again(see 1 John 2:1-2). You have to believe this and not let the devil rob you of your freedom because of guilt and ignorance. Dwelling in guilt would only ensure that you become ensnared to sin, but receiving God's abundant grace and forgiveness is the way to receive strength to constantly walk in victory over sin.

Go into today remembering that the abundance of God's grace towards you is greater than any sin and accusation of Satan. Stand in this grace and enjoy God's victory over sin and the devil.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your abundant grace. Please help me walk in it and please you in all things, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Romans 5:20 (NET)Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more

Man committed sin from the beginning, but without the law, we did not know how dangerous sin was(it was the law that showed us that the wages of sin is death). God gave Man a conscience that acts as a law within him(see Rom 2:14-15), sin is a violation of this law.

When the law came, sinning was now double transgression. The one was violating the principle of life, and the other was disobedience to the commands of God. Because of the law, sin became even more sinful and offensive(a double violation). Thus, the grace that made us free from the filthiness and consequences of sin had to much more abound.

Grace is like the detergent and effort put in to wash a filthy vessel. Grace is God's effort to wash away the filth of our sins and make us clean and justified to stand before Him and share in His divine nature. You would agree with me that the dirtier something is, there would be more detergent and work required to clean it. Where sin increased, grace multiplied much more.

Go into today remembering that it cost God the life of His only begotten son to clean you of your sins. Don't take this sacrifice for granted by willfully walking in the flesh(sin). Do everything possible to flee the path of sin. Seek help if the need be.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your grace that gives me access to your divine life. Please help me walk worthy of this grace and please you in all respects(see Eph 4:1, Col 1:10, 1 Thess 2:21).

Matthew 25:23 (KJV) His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Larry became really envious of Sunday who had become a great man celebrated by many the world over. He didn't understand why Sunday became so great and not him because they used to be really close when they were much younger, and he saw that he was more intelligent, gifted, and talented than Sunday. Larry always believed that God had destined him for greatness, but he was not experiencing any of it. All he saw were struggles. He almost fell into what some call a mid-life crisis, because he was already over 45, and it was now looking clear to him that he was not going to be as successful and great as he had always hoped.

As Larry continued to study why people enter into their greatness, he observed a principle that was greatly lacking in his life. He saw that unlike his friend Sunday, he was not a very faithful and reliable person. He was never really consistent at anything that didn't give instant gratification. He observed that God gave greatness, but one of the principles of greatness in the kingdom of God is faithfulness in the little and in another man's work(see Luke 16:10,12). Unlike Sunday, he was too proud to be committed to anything that didn’t originate from him.

There are different ways of attaining greatness in this world, but greatness in the kingdom of God can only be received by those who are faithful in the little. When you have been faithful in little, much will be given to you --that is the kingdom way (see Luke 16:10,12). Many stars have fallen because they shined before they were proven with faithfulness. It is possible to expose yourself and orchestrate your shining, but if your greatness is not from the Lord, you will have to continue to employ your gimmicks to sustain it, and a time would come that you would run out of them.

Go into today remembering that God only promotes those who have shown faithfulness in the little things. Remember also that they that compare themselves with themselves are not wise (2 Corinthians 10:12).

Prayer: Lord, give me grace and wisdom to be faithful and consistent. Amen.

Mark 4:39 (KJV), “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm"

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters" (Genesis 1:1-2 KJV).

Although God had created the heaven and the earth, the earth was without form, void, and covered in darkness. Although the Spirit of God was present, His impact was not felt. It was only after God had spoken that form, decorum, and light appeared. Note also that, they all did not appear once; it was light first, then firmament, then God spoke again, again and again before all the formlessness, voidness and darkness disappeared.

If it happened with God, it will most likely happen with you; you will have moments of chaos, confusion, and despair, but if like God, you have learned to speak to the chaotic situation, it is only then that the Holy Spirit will have what to work with.

Being born again is not automatic freedom from chaos, it however guarantees a way out of it and that way is tied to how well you engage the word of God. If God has spoken concerning an issue, keep speaking those words even if your current status contradicts what God has said.

Go into today determined to keep speaking the word of God to every chaos in your life. Remember, God spoke seven different times before he rested.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, make your word real to me that I may live by it.

Psalms 91:3 (NKJV)Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.

Lekan: Dare, I have watched you since we were little and I have seen that you walk in the reality of God’s word and things are working for you. What is the secret?

Dare: I believe in God’s promises and I am sure they are for me. I end up seeing what I believe and say.

Lekan: But I also believe in God’s promises. Why then do I not see results like you?

Dare: I have observed that even though you believe God’s promises, you are not sure that they are for you. It’s like you don’t fully believe them, or you feel you don’t deserve them. Jesus has already paid for them with His precious life. Don’t waste them.

Today's Bible verse begins with the word ‘surely’. When Moses was writing the words of Psalm 91, he was very sure that the Lord will deliver them from danger. This assurance was faith in action. That is the attitude that receives from the Lord.

Many people do not walk in the promises of God because they are not sure that the promises are for them. Not being sure is not a sign of piety; it is a sign of weakening faith, and this does not please God (see Heb 11:6)

Go into today knowing that God wants us to be sure that He will protect us and provide for us (even if there is famine). Think about how heartbreaking it would be if you had a child who constantly doubted your willingness to protect him and provide for him. That is what we do when we are not sure of God’s covering.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to be bold and sure in your promises. Amen.

John 7:37-39 (NET) On the last day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him will flow rivers of living water.’” (Now he said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Nnena started deeply desiring to be filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. She started asking God to fill her with the Holy Spirit through prayers and fasting. One evening while in Church, she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands. Her heart was filled with joy as she spoke in tongues and glorified God for hours. This happened three weeks after the scales fell off her eyes and she now truly wanted to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Her desire for the Holy Spirit made all the difference. She had been a believer for eight years without the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but when she truly started desiring to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, she prayed, fasted, and attended the right programs where she knew servants of God would lay hands on her to receive the Holy Spirit.

Today's Bible verse reveals that it is those who thirst that would come and drink [of the Holy Spirit]. Many believers thirst but not many know how to come and drink. Coming to drink means we don't stop at the level of desire(thirst) but we act according to that desire in faith. It also means that when prayers are being made or/and hands are laid upon us to receive the Holy Spirit, we don't shut our mouths and expect the Holy Spirit to force them open. When a person is drinking water, he doesn't close his mouth but opens it(Psalm 81:10).

Go into today remembering that in order to receive the Holy Spirit, and in order to grow in communion with Him and grow in His grace, power, and gifts, there has to be thirst(great desire) in our hearts. Actions of faith must follow this thirst.

Acts 10:44-46 (KJV) While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God…

One of the major reasons Nnena didn't receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit was because she once listened to a preacher that criticized what he called "the indiscriminate speaking of tongues". This preacher and his followers insisted that believers should not speak in tongues because many did not know how to interpret tongues. He also said things that made the gift of tongues undesirable to his followers.

A time came when Nnena knew she needed the manifest power of God in her life because of the demonic attacks on her family. As she started seeking to walk in the power that God promised his children, she discovered that the key to receiving this power is being filled with the Holy Spirit. As soon as her desire for the Holy Holy Spirit trumped her reservation about speaking in tongues, she was ready to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Many have asked why some insist that those who receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit must speak in tongues. I have asked that question too several times. But what we see repeatedly in scripture is that when people received the Holy Spirit, they spoke in tongues and glorified God (See Acts 10:44-46, Acts 19:6, Acts 2:2-4). If like Nnena, the devil can get you to loathe speaking in tongues, it would be very difficult for you to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

A rejection of someone's gift is similar to rejecting the person himself.

The Holy Spirit does not come to those who do not want Him. Jesus reveals in John 7:37-39 the criteria for believers to receive the Holy Spirit. He says "if any man thirst, let him come to me and drink". Thirst here indicates a deep desire for the Holy Spirit (read John 7:37-39).

If you have been a believer, but you have not yet received the Holy Spirit (with the evidence of speaking in tongues), know that it is only when you start desiring the Holy Spirit like you desire water after being thirsty for a long time, that you will receive Him. It is only after the Holy Spirit comes upon you that you will receive power(See Acts 1:8).

Go into today praying with Luke 11:11-13. Ask the Father to give you the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13-14 (NET) And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christ – you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit
Over the years, I have observed that most believers who do not remain in Christ (but go back to the world) usually have a deficiency in the way they were born again. Many times, this deficiency is revealed in the fact that they were not properly baptized. Some were baptized in water and not baptized in the Holy Spirit, while others received the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but the fact that they were not baptized in water reveals a serious deficiency in the discipleship process that brought them into the faith. Remember, a baby that was not properly delivered can have many health complications that may even lead to loss of life. One of the major processes of being properly born again is an introduction to the ministry and person of the Holy Spirit.

From today's Bible verse, we can learn that believers are marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one who preserves us and keeps us from the pollution of this present world. Without the Holy Spirit, we would not be able to survive and thrive.

I have also come to discover that many of the believers who did not remain in the Lord, despite the fact that they received the Holy Spirit, are those who were not taught to cultivate fellowship with the Holy Spirit. They did not come to know the person of the Holy Spirit. In many cases, the only thing they can reckon with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. The Holy Spirit is much more than the force that makes people speak in tongues. He is the personification of Jesus in our hearts and minds.

The Holy Spirit is the administrator of God's grace in our lives. He is the one who strengthens [and comforts] us. Without the Holy Spirit, no believer can make it to the finish line.

Go into today remembering that receiving the Holy Spirit and cultivating fellowship with Him is the only way to stay alive and thrive spiritually.

Psalms 91:2 (NKJV)I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."

Dare and Lekan were friends from when they were in elementary school. They both became born again and were both baptized in the Holy Spirit (with the evidence of speaking in tongues) on the same day. Dare would always say great things concerning God and concerning the things that he believed God was going to do for him. He said God was going to make him very great and prosperous in life. Lekan, on the other hand, was most sanctimonious. He didn’t say much about what God could do for him.

As they became older, Dare saw more of the power of God in every area of his life and was very prosperous. He later discovered that the prosperity and greatness he saw in his life were a result of the things he had always said of the Lord.

Today's Bible verse begins with ‘I will say of the Lord’. My question for you today is what are you saying of the Lord? Are you saying He is your provider and source? Are you saying He will keep you holy and present you blameless before God on that day? Are you saying He is your refuge and fortress? Or are you only seeing Him as the one who is displeased with sin?

What you say of the Lord is very important because it is what you say about Him that you will see manifest in your life.

Go into today determining to say definite great things about the Lord that you want to see in your life. As you continue to say these things in your heart and with your mouth, you will see the manifestations.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you say the right things.

1 Corinthians 9:24-25 (NET) Do you not know that all the runners in a stadium compete, but only one receives the prize? So run to win. Each competitor must exercise self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one.

A footballer once gave an insight into the diet of his star teammate. He spoke of how he kept to a very strict diet of high protein foods with lots of fruit and vegetables, and how he avoids sugary foods. This star athlete also has a demanding exercise regimen as he works out 5-6 hours daily, gets to training before every other person, and was also the last to leave. It was no surprise that he has had a very illustrious career filled with great accomplishments and personal laurels as he has maintained fitness for most of his career. And even when most of his contemporaries have retired, he still plays top-flight football as he is in tip-top physical condition.

It is a fact that most athletes who excel in their sport have a strict diet and exercise regimen. This impacts their lifestyle in no small way as it means that there are certain foods they will not eat, certain drinks you won’t find them consuming, and certain activities they simply will not indulge in.

To walk effectively as a Christian, there is a need for the discipline of self-control. Self-control allows you to take upon yourself the yoke of Christ without recourse to personal convenience or popular culture. Self-control helps one to tame appetites and to make them flow in the direction of divine ordinances as prescribed by the Word of God.

A believer equipped with this discipline might be on social media, but his social media engagements are not determined by the trend of the moment. Even though she dresses smartly, her fashion sense is not influenced by what is in vogue. Even in relationship choices, the believer with self-control is not moved by what moves the world. In fact, his prime mover is not external, it is godly and internal. It is the Holy Spirit.

The self-control of the believer is the ability to subject his emotions, will, and desires to conform to the wisdom and prescription of God. It requires wisdom and power. The wisdom to know God’s prescription is enshrined in God’s word. The power is available through the Holy Spirit. As it is said in 2 Timothy 1 verse 6, “For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control” (NET).

Go into today walking in self-control. Trust the Holy Spirit for the wisdom and the power to exercise self-control in all things.

Psalms 91:1 (NKJV)He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

After Ladi accepted Christ, she still didn’t fully understand what it meant to dwell in the secret place of the Most High. Because of this, she was still a fearful person.

One day, she had to pass through a street that was known for being very dangerous at night, especially for young ladies. But she didn’t have any other choice but to walk through that street on her way home that night. She saw a group of very bad-looking boys staring at her, and she could hear her heartbeat because of fear, but she simply walked as fast as she could to pass them.

The next time she went for hospital evangelism, she saw a wounded young man who had been in a bike accident. She preached the gospel to him and he accepted Christ. He later told her that he was one of the young men staring at her that night. He said they wanted to steal her bag and harm her, but there was a strange presence that scared and withheld them. He said that was an experience he had not forgotten.

Ladi now understood that she had been dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty.

Those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High abide under the shadow of the Almighty. The way to dwell in the secret place of the Most High is to abide in Christ and let His words abide in you (see John 15:7). This is only possible when you have received Christ as Lord and savior.

Go into today remembering that you are under the shadow of the Almighty if you are in Christ.

Psalms 34:4-5 (NET) I sought the Lord’s help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed.
After Funbi's fiance met her parents, they fixed a wedding date and everyone in her family was happy for Funbi because she was now over 35. After some weeks, Funbi realized that the old fear of failure started lurking in her heart again. She went to the Lord in prayer concerning it as she did with her previous fears, but this time, the fear didn't seem to go away. She just had this feeling that her wedding wasn't going to hold.

When Funbi discussed this fear with her discipler, she educated Funbi that seeking the Lord could also involve fasting because fasting helps to humble us and cause the grace of God toward us to be multiplied. Funbi decided to go on a fast the following Saturday. She put off her phone and shut off all engagements for the day. She spent the whole day behind closed doors, reading a faith-building book, praying in the spirit, and praising God for giving her victory over those her fears.

After doing this, she realized that the fear in her heart had faded away. She went on to have a very successful wedding according to schedule. Somehow she knew that if she did not conquer that fear, it would have materialized and her wedding would not have held. She knew this because that was her experience with such fears in the past, they always materialized.

Turning aside to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting is usually more effective when certain fears have refused to leave your heart even after you have prayed about them normally. The problem is that when many believers fast, they do not focus on God and ensure that their hearts are rid of all fear and anxiety, they rather focus on demons and their enemies. But the biggest battleground is in the mind. Through the word of God and prayers, we are to bring into captivity every thought and imagination that is contrary to the revealed will of God (see 2 Corinthians 10:5).

Go into today remembering that fear and anxiety allowed to linger in the heart of a believer is a precursor to defeat.

Prayer: Lord, help me seek you until my fears and anxieties fade away. Help me walk perpetually in the victory of faith, In Jesus' name. Amen.-Pst Abraham Damilola Arigi

1 Corinthians 8:10-12 (NET) For if someone weak sees you who possess knowledge dining in an idol’s temple, will not his conscience be “strengthened” to eat food offered to idols? So by your knowledge the weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed. If you sin against your brothers or sisters in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

When Kemi visited the campus for the first time, she was amazed at how there were so many wonderful vibrant Christian fellowships on that campus. She met sisters who were so prophetic and on fire for Jesus that it almost blew her mind. (In the community she was raised in, the sisters in the church were very unassuming and didn't walk in any spiritual gift - - that was a preserve for the male folk only). She was so excited and glad to be there, and she started growing and walking in her spiritual gifts.

Clara who hosted her while she wrote her entrance exam knew prophetically that Kemi was going to get admission into that institution. She also knew the Lord wanted her to mentor Kemi. Because she was fully aware of Kemi's Christian background and the very conservative setting of her Christian upbringing, Clara decided that because of Kemi she would no longer dress in a certain way that Kemi would have considered "ungodly". She did this because she loved Kemi and she knew that if she was going to be able to mentor Kemi into a deeper knowledge of the Lord, Kemi needed to have an open mind towards her. And she knew that as long as she used hair extension and dressed the way she normally dressed(which was not bad in itself), Kemi would never listen to anything she had to say.

Because of the wisdom that Clara deployed in dealing with Kemi, she succeeded in mentoring her and leading her to know the Lord more intimately. In a few months' time, Kemi became a powerful tool in the hand of the Lord. Through her, all her siblings came to know the Lord, and her family was delivered from limitations imposed by demons. She was also now enlightened enough to know that the way Clara dressed originally was not going to lead her to hell nor was it ungodly. Clara succeeded in mentoring Kemi into spiritual maturity because she was willing to sacrifice her dressing for a season. Clara testified that she was greatly promoted in the kingdom of God because of this. It didn't look like much to others, but it was a  sacrifice for Clara to change her mode of dressing. The Lord noticed her sacrifice and promoted her.

Every time we walk in sacrificial love as believers, we increase our rank in the kingdom.

Go into today remembering that walking in the light is the basis for increased and deepened fellowship with God. This fellowship is the secret of multiplied grace(see 2 Peter 1:2).

Psalms 34:4-5 (NET) I sought the Lord’s help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed.

Funbi was really afraid of failing again because she had failed several times in her life. From failure in important exams to failures in trying to start new businesses, she had seen the different colors of failure and was now feeling like a complete failure in life.
But someone shared the gospel of the Lord Jesus to her and she believed it. After accepting the Lord Jesus and beginning to pattern her life according to His word, she realized that her terrible fear of failure was alien to the new life she now had in Christ.

She just entered a relationship that was headed for marriage, but she was so afraid that the relationship wasn't going to work out. This was how this fear of failure hounded her.
One morning during her quiet time, she came in contact with today's scripture when she realized that the most effective way to deal with her fears was to seek the Lord and cast them upon Him. Over time, as she learned to do this, she observed that each and every time, she conquered her fears and could now live the victorious life Jesus paid for her on the cross. It took her time to adjust, but with this secret, she conquered all her fears.

Fear is one of the strongest weapons of the enemy against people. It weakens faith and diminishes strength. If a believer can conquer his fears, he has already conquered most of his battle.
David could defeat Goliath because unlike the rest of Israel, he was not afraid of Goliath. Because of this, he could connect to the supernatural dimension through faith. Fear always hinders this connection, so it is important that we learn to overcome our fears because as believers, we are to live the supernatural life naturally.

Go into today knowing that the most effective way to deal with your fears is not to deny them or run away from them, it is to seek the Lord and cast them upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). David understood this secret and could conquer his fears and walk in the faith that ensured his victories. The victory that overcomes the world comes through our faith (1 John 5:4). Fear is one of the biggest inhibitors of faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me always remember to seek you and cast my fears upon you. Help me to always walk in the victory of faith. Amen.Want to be saved? Go here: streamglobe.org/33

Psalms 75:6-7 (NKJV)For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south.
But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.

It is great wisdom to pray for those in exalted positions of authority (see 1 Tim 2:2). God is the one responsible for their exaltation (see Rom 13:1). Being rebellious to constituted authority is an act of rebellion against the judgment of God (see Rom 13:2).
This does not mean we turn a blind eye to the evil they do, or we cannot support opposing parties. But it means we are never rebellious to constituted authority because we don’t like the persons in government. It means we continue to pray for them and not against them. Our prayers for them keep them from being controlled by the will of the devil. Nations suffer when their leaders are fully given to the manipulation of the evil one. Our prayers prevent this from happening.

Exaltation comes from God because He is Judge. He exalts one and brings down another. Acknowledging this truth is great wisdom. It saves God’s people from fruitless motions.

The reason why true promotion on the earth comes only from God is that He is Judge. He determines who is exalted based on the balances of divine justice. These things are hard for the human mind to fully comprehend, but never forget that God's judgments are trustworthy and absolutely just (see Psalm 19:9).

Go into today asking the Lord to exalt you and use you for His glory on the earth.

Pray for those in authority, that they may do the will of God and execute justice and equity.

Luke 21:36 (AMP) “ Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.”

It is important for us to pay more attention to what the Lord is saying in today’s Bible passage. As believers, we need to wake up, wake up in the place of prayer; wake up in the place of meditative study of the word of God. Those who will survive the tough times as believers are those who meditate on God’s word; watching and praying. Our Lord did not just caution us to keep awake and be prayerful to survive the tough times, you see, we need strength to stand before the Son of Man.

Friend, as for me, I want to see His face. I want to trust Him to take me through all these things and give me strength to stand before Him when He returns. I don’t want to be ashamed at His appearance, because many will be. I want to resemble Him, He is coming for those that look like Him. So what must I do? I must not give up on Him now. He hasn’t given up on me. What if I fall? I must stand up, and get back into the race. Micah 7:8 says ” Rejoice not against me, O my enemy! When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.”

Dear friend, keep awake and be watchful at all times, pray for strength to escape all these things and to stand before the Son of Man.

Prayer: Father please grant me the grace to keep awake and to be alert at all times. Help me to run this race till I reach the finish line, in Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Filled with Praise 2

Psalms 33:1 (KJV) Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
After Angie observed the secret of Mathta's victorious life, she was now determined to live a life filled with gratitude and thanksgiving. Before this time, each morning she woke up, it would take her at least 30 mins to get out of bed because she would spend the first moments of her day in bed analyzing and agonizing about how difficult her life is.

Now that she understood that murmuring and complaining were counterproductive and demonic, she understood that she had to replace that bad habit with a good one. She set her phone to remind her every morning to give thanks and praise God when she wakes up.

Each morning when she woke up, she remembered to start the day with thanksgiving, praises, and songs of victory. After practicing this for one week, she saw that she was visibly a happier person. She felt whole in her inner man and she knew that she was now stronger spiritually.

Self-pity, sadness, depression, and sorrow are not just emotions of the mind, they are weapons against the spirit. The joy of the Lord is your strength, and the devil understands that if he can get you out of this joy, he can put you in a corner of weakness and defeat.

Go into today determined to be intentional about putting off the Garment of heaviness and putting on the Garment of praise. Praise is comely and appropriate for the righteous. It is a spiritual discipline that engenders the flow of grace and power.

Prayer: Lord, help me wake up every morning to proclaim your love, and go to bed every night singing of your faithfulness(Psalm 92:2). Help me replace every heaviness and sorrow with your outrageous joy. Amen.
