DON’T BE AFRAID

image

AUDIO VERSION ~ 1MB:

http://goo.gl/dDEIFU

Numbers 14: 8-9.

If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. KJV

Many readers of this devotional today are in Nigeria, and there have been fear among many Nigerians about how 2015 will turn out. Many have said it will be filled with bloodshed because of the coming presidential elections that have polarized the country, some have even gone as far as saying that 2015 might mark the beginning of the end of Nigeria as we know it, but we as God’s children insist that ONLY GOD’S COUNSEL SHALL STAND CONCERNING NIGERIA.

The lord will bring us safely into the year and give it to us; God will keep us in perfect peace because we trust in Him (see Isa 26:3)

Fear not, for fear is the direct opposite of faith and the strongest expression of doubt. Only learn to please God in the year and all will be well.

Go into today remembering that the one who controls the future is also the one who controls your life and He cares for you. End this year today with thanksgiving and faith. Identify your greatest fears for 2015 and begin to confess words that are opposite to them throughout today (eg. I shall not die but live in 2015).

Prayer: I rebuke fear in Jesus name. I receive the spirit of faith in Christ Jesus, and I take the year in Jesus name. Amen

BECAUSE YOU LOVE GOD

image

Audio Version (~ 1mb):

http://goo.gl/DuIV8V

Rom 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

KJV

It wasn't quite two months after Stanley proposed to Sarah that he lost his job in the oil company. There was a fraud that happened in his department, even though many of them were not involved; many in the department including Stanley were fired. What particularly hurt Stanley that period was the role his new fiancĂ©e played in the whole thing; she immediately broke up with him and went on telling everyone in their church that she left him because he was a fraud. Meanwhile she started going out with Felix who was Stanley’s boss, who turned out to be the real fraud that collided with someone else in the department to defraud the company. After six months, Stanley got back his job with a promotion which now made him Felix's boss, and Felix was later fired. God had saved Stanley from marrying the wrong woman and showed him who his real friends were through that trying period.

If you think properly, there are many valuable lessons you have learnt because of an unpleasant situation you went through. If it couldn't kill you, it only made you stronger BECAUSE YOU LOVE GOD.

Go into today remembering how God has used even unfavorable situations to teach you greater wisdom this year. Particularly mark the lessons you have learnt and remember not to forget them because it is easy to forget.

Prayer: Thank you father because you have brought me to this point of the year. Thank you for the great wisdom you have taught me this year. I pray you help me never forget your teachings and wisdom, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

HOW FAITH WORKS

image

AUDIO VERSION (1mb):

http://goo.gl/vAzP7z

Heb 11:1

NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, o the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

AMP

We can hope in anything, we can believe anything, this does not mean we have faith; the God kind of faith. Faith is the physical evidence for spiritual reality. This is the reason why unlike a mere belief, faith is always qualified by works, for faith without works is dead (see James 2:20-22).Faith perceives what is not yet revealed to the senses. Before God does a thing in this three dimensional world, He first settles (completes/creates) it in heaven. He does this because all He makes have foundations, and the foundation of the physical realm is the spiritual realm. It is by faith that we see these things and act accordingly.

Eph 1:3 saysBlessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ’.

It is by faith that we receive a manifestation of these blessings in this three dimensional world.

Go into today knowing that you have the title deed to cause those things that you have seen to be manifested here in this physical world.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for the grace to receive great things from you. I pray you teach me how to receive more effectively, In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

LISTENING FOR HIS VOICE

LISTEN TO AUDIO (1MB):

http://goo.gl/mO4Hbm

Isa 30:21

"And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left"

KJV

One of the advantages a believer has is being led by the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:14). It is important that a believer develops his spiritual sensitivity so that he might be able to know where God wants him to be per time.

“And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt..." Gen 12:10. Abram did not get to know the plans of God concerning him in that famine. It was from that line of action he took that he got Hagar, who then gave birth to Ishmael, the race that brought great hardship to God’s people. (Gen 16:1, 15).

Isaac was faced with the same challenge and wanted to make the same mistake his father made, but luckily for him he was spiritually sensitive enough to hear from God. "And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham... And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of" (Gen 26:1-2).

Go into today with the desire to be able to hear God's voice and to follow His leadings for Your life always.

Prayer: Father, I thank for your promise to lead and guide me. I ask that You will cause me to be able to recognize your voice and to follow Your leading always, in Jesus name, amen.

WE LIVE BY FAITH

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO (1mb):

http://goo.gl/s1LH3G

Rom 1:17

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

NIV

Many people are saved by grace but act as if they intent to be sanctified by laws. They do not know that grace is received by faith and it is this grace (and not laws) that empowers us to live holy and acceptable lives before God. Faith in God means you have come to the end of yourself; your soul now accepts that you cannot do it by your own strength.

Your faith in God makes you carry a God consciousness everywhere you go. You know God watches over you and He who is the all-powerful cares for you; you therefore do not want to grieve Him in the things you do or say.

Go into today knowing that your faith in Christ Jesus is to be as strong today as it was when you first believed. Everything you do in God’s kingdom is by faith. Enter into the day by declaring positive things concerning your life and destiny by faith.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your great love and grace towards me. I pray you help me grow in faith daily. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

MANIFESTING SONSHIP 1

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO (1MB):

http://goo.gl/lwESCP

John 1:12

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. KJV

I attended two secondary schools during my secondary school years as a teenager. The first was where I did my junior secondary education. I have many very treasured memories of that school and I learnt a lot there too. Something I cannot forget about that school is their motto which reads "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER". As I have grown older, I have come to realize that that motto is one of the most profound phrases I have read.

The difference between a lawyer or a doctor and a street beggar is fundamentally knowledge; the difference between an educated, sophisticated and trained man who adds value to the society and an illiterate man who lives on social welfare is knowledge.

God has put his seed of sonship in you if you have truly accepted Jesus as your lord and personal savior. How much of God’s ability you manifest is dependent on your fruitful knowledge of who you really are.

Do you know who you are and do you walk worthy of that calling? (see Eph. 4:1)

Go into today knowing that you are seated with Christ Jesus in the spirit realm, in a higher level than all principalities and powers (See Eph. 3:1; 1:20-21). Christ Jesus, who is the owner and lord of all the earth, lives within you; the devil should not intimidate you because the person that created him is the one that lives within you.

Prayer: Thank you father for this undeserved privilege I have to be called your son. I pray you help me walk worthy of this calling and express your nature daily, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid! Listen carefully, for I proclaim to you good news that brings great joy to all the people: 11 Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord. NET

Today is the most celebrated day of the year because today is the day we have chosen to celebrate the birth of our lord Jesus. His birth is the best thing that has happened to humankind, and so should be celebrated.

It is indeed good news that brings great Joy that Jesus, who is God come in the flesh was born to save mankind. He came to save us all from our sins by taking the punishment of our sins upon Himself; dying on the cross of calvary.

Just as through one man (Adam), sin and death came into the world, through Jesus Christ, salvation and peace has come into the world. Those who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life (see John 3:16).

Go into today remembering that Jesus was given because of God's great love. You too should give to others in love as we celebrate this great day.

IN THE GLEE OF CHRISTMAS

IN THE GLEE OF CHRISTMAS

LISTEN TO AUDIO (1.5 MB):

Luke 21:34

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares

KJV

As we commemorate the birth of Christ this season, let us pay much closer attention to ourselves (see Heb 2:1).

Christ has been born and has fulfilled his purpose for coming to the earth – to die for the salvation of mankind – and has returned home. What about you? You are here on the earth now. Would your life count just as Christ’s? What would you be remembered for; a life lived in hypocrisy or a life fulfilling purpose? (See Prov 10:7, Mk 14:9). Has the work of Christ been settled in your life?

All the prophecy concerning Christ’s birth to the minutest details – the nation, place of birth, period of birth, tribe, family, humility, deity and destiny – were fulfilled in His first coming. And the very same Scripture is replete with prophecy concerning His second coming. Would you be ready when he comes or would you be caught unawares? (See Rom 13:11-13, 1 Thess 5:2-6).

Go into today determined to live a life of purpose just like our lord did. You shall be celebrated in Jesus name. Amen

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank you for coming to this sinful world to save me and give me a life. Just as you fulfilled the prophecies concerning your life, please help me to wholly accept and walk in God’s purpose for my life and fulfill it. Amen (see Heb 10:7).

Hebrew 7:24-25

"But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them"

KJV

Because of the corruption in the heart of men, they imagine things which should represent God. Owing to this, about 4,300 different faith groups have emerged over the years, 22 of which are major, according to webmaster.

In today’s bible text the phrase " that come unto God by him" attest to the fact that there are other devised means of coming to God but that only those that come through Jesus will be saved. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father except by me"-John 14:6. KJV

If you have known Christ, hold on to Him; if you have not, welcome Him into your heart by confessing your sins and forsaking them; believing and accepting that Jesus is your savior.

YOUR SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

Streamglobe-Devotionals-Image-2

LISTEN TO AUDIO:

1 Cor 3:1-3

Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly — mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.

NIV

When a Christian cares too much about the things of this world, chances are that he will not grow and he is compromising his spiritual authority. Walking in the spirit or being a spiritual Christian means your spiritual life means more to you than your physical life; the center of your reality is no more your flesh and feelings but now your spirit man. When you live like this, you will ascend to higher spiritual authority.

One out of the numerous advantages of having more spiritual authority is that demons, devils and principalities obey you; even the elements and elementals will obey your voice. Spiritual authority is the result of the position you have attained by walking in the spirit. Each time you walk in the spirit instead of the flesh you gain more ground in the realm of the spirit and this is spiritual authority.

Go into today determined to give your spiritual life more priority.

Prayer: Father in heaven, thank you for your love, please help me walk in the spirit and manifest the fruit of the spirit. Please deliver from the grip of this world and the grip of the flesh, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

ANGER AND SELF-CONTROL

ws_Natural_Scene_1024x768

LISTEN TO AUDIO (ABOUT 1MB):

http://goo.gl/kIxWVG

Prov 25:28

Like a city that is broken down and without a wall, so is a person who cannot control his temper. NET

Even though Luis was a very capable and intelligent lawyer, his boss decided she'd had enough and fired him: he was assigned to negotiate a very important financial settlement for a big client, but because the lawyer on the other side of the table knew of Luis’s anger problem, he decided to exploit it and make Luis ruin the settlement for his client, this technique worked excellently and was not the first time it was successfully used against Luis.

Anger is a natural emotional reaction. It is like the way your eyes tear when there is much smoke, your soul reacts when someone hurts you emotionally, that is why it is unrealistic to say "never get angry" and God never says so, Instead God instructs us to control ourselves and not let anger cause us to sin. You will sin when you are angry if you cannot control yourself. Anyone that does not exercise self-control under normal circumstances (like regulating his eating, sleeping or watching movies etc.) will surely not be able to avoid sinning when he gets angry, and trust me, you will get angry someday.

Many people have lost a great deal, destroyed valuable relationships, and ruined their lives, because of one fleeting moment of uncontrolled anger. Go into today determined, by the help of the Holy Ghost, to exercise more self control in every aspect of your life; and never give yourself away to anger.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for your word today. I pray you help me be more self controlled and gentle. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

SERVICE: THE DEMAND OF LEADERSHIP

YOUR SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY

LISTEN TO AUDIO (ABOUT 1MB):

http://goo.gl/AC8NFT

Mar 10:42

But Jesus called the disciples together and said: You know that those foreigners who call themselves kings like to order their people around. And their great leaders have full power over the people they rule. CEV

Power, position, money, privilege, and fame (although usually hidden and subtle) have been major motivations for leadership over the years. Jesus’ earnest urge to us in verse 43 of the scripture above is “Don't act like them. If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others”.

Our authority or purpose for leadership is not to exercise lordship over the people but a pressing requirement to serve.

Go into today, with this understanding that your positions at whatever level is for service and not exercising control over others. This is how to represent God is your position; by doing it His way

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for not leading and using my office most appropriately; from henceforth I will not be bossy to those people in my care, but would serve them well and set an example for them (see 1 Pet 5:2,3 CEV)

WISDOM FOR ALL

WISDOM-FOR-ALL

LISTEN TO AUDIO (ABOUT 1MB):

http://goo.gl/NWE3nE

Prov 8:4

To you, O people, I call out, and my voice calls to all mankind. NET

Proverbs 8 talks exclusive about wisdom; our text for today says wisdom cries out to all mankind. There is no one that cannot be wise. Wisdom is a choice and not a natural heritage.

Anyone that chooses wisdom wants to make the best of his time in fulfilling his purpose in life.

One of the greatest signs that a man is wise is the way he uses his time; does he use his time in doing things that will help him actualize his goal in life, or does he spend his time without a plan? This means he has to have a goal or vision in life, and smaller goal and visions per time.

It is believed that only a handful of people are truly wise, could it be because only a handful of people actually have goals and visions for their lives?

One of the reasons I believe Jesus said the children of this world are wiser in their generation is because their goals in life are very clear and simple to them- get as money in the world as possible. We in the kingdom of God are called to higher goals; many sometimes do not know their assignments per time and walk as if they are still of this world.

Go into today determined to make the most of every time in fulfilling your God given vision.

Prayer: heavenly father, please we ask that you supply us your children with great wisdom as we depend on you for the visions and the fulfillment of the visions of our lives, in Jesus name we pray. Amen

SERVICE: THE WAY UP

REASONS FOR CHALLENGES

LISTEN TO AUDIO (ABOUT 1MB):

http://goo.gl/84Zcsn

Heb 2: 10

God did the right thing when he made Jesus perfect by suffering, as Jesus led many of God's children to be saved and to share in his glory. CEV

Great Patriarchs of our Faith walked the path of service with patience and diligence and in the process of time got to the topmost top in their different generations and field of endeavors. Not with the kind of ‘breakthrough money’ or ‘urgent global announcement’ mentality our youths have today. A sufficing example will be Joseph (see Ps 105:17, Gen 37-41).

Compensations in all forms are undeniable returns of service but we must not be too fast to factor in the process, training and testing that is always associated with the progress and reward ladder.

Jesus had a great assignment but he had to go through this process before he could fully attain that office as our Lord. He already had the divine nature but he needed to learn to become sympathetic with sinners and so had to suffer temptation at all points. So we might have all the gifts and skills, but only through the process of faithful service and fine-tuning would we get to our peak.

Go into today, knowing that the reality of your vision and purpose is the sum of all the work, service, trainings of your everyday, so rejoice in the process.

PRAYER: Lord, help me not to be too hasty to the top; teach me the law of process in the fulfillment of my destiny, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

SERVICE (I): THE PLACE OF LABOUR

SERVICE THE PLACE OF LABOUR

LISTEN TO AUDIO:

http://goo.gl/39pMyG

1Tim 3:1

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

KJV

There are some persons who apply for jobs with the good intention of making ends meet but with no sincere interest in the work. That shouldn’t be the attitude of believers.

Our emphasis in the scripture above is that, if a man desires an office, he desires the work. Every office position has a job description or assigned responsibilities associated with it. When we sign-up for that office or position, we are in for the work that goes with it

Jesus found great delight in doing his work (see Jn 4:34). In our places of employment or service, be it a corporate organization, a government agency or church administration, we should labor heartily as to the Lord and not to men (see Col 3:23).

Go into today, with this understanding of labor – the privilege of using our skills and office to work and serve. This is how you glorify God in your work and attract His blessing in all you do.

DIFFERING OPINIONS: DO NOT JUDGE

DO NOT JUDGE

AUDIO VERSION(<1MB): http://goo.gl/kSd3LF

Rom 14:3-4

3 The one who eats everything must not despise the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not judge the one who eats everything, for God has accepted him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on another's servant? Before his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

I have realized that many of us Christians are guilty of exactly what we are told not to do in today’s bible text. We judge others who are not in our denominations. One of the surest ways of judging is to believe that someone is going to hell because he does not do what you do; you're judging because in your heart, you have already sentenced the person to hell. Jesus teaches us that we should leave such judgment to God.

The most important thing for anyone is whether they truly believe in Jesus. If they do, all other contentious issues will be addressed by Jesus who is able to make them who truly believe to stand (see Rom 14:4b).

The thief that died on the cross next to Jesus, the one Jesus saved, would have been judged by many to go straight to hell, but he got to paradise before them all.

Go into today determined to obey Gods word by loving and not judging anyone, especially those who believe in Jesus. Your light is more effective when you don't reject and judge people but love and show them the way without contending with them.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because you have given me your grace, and I know I don't deserve it. I pray you help me walk more in grace and never reject or judge anyone again, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

DIFFERING OPINIONS

LISTEN TO AUDIO(< 1MB):  http://goo.gl/h8FyOZ

Rom 14:1

Now receive the one who is weak in the faith, and do not have disputes over differing opinions. NET

What God is telling us in today’s bible text is that we should accept those who are weaker. Everyone believes his opinion is best, but when I receive my brother in the other denomination (even though I may think he is weaker in the faith), and he receives me (even though he also may think I am weaker), we will both be stronger because love builds up.

We are also instructed in our text to have no disputes over differing opinions. Let us avoid focusing on, and disputing over the things we see differently (like modes of worship, dressings etc.) and focus on the things that unite us; the truths of the gospel of salvation; Jesus being our only savior; the holy spirit’s baptism; Jesus being God come in the flesh, etc. There is so much we CHRISTIANS have in common than what divides us, let us focus on what we agree on and be a united, stronger and more love filled church; advancing the kingdom of God and conquering the gates of hell that is still holding nations captive.

Prayer: Thank you father because you knew we would not all be in one denomination, that was why you told us aforetime to receive each other and avoid disputes over differing opinions. I pray you help me accept and love my brother for whom Christ shed His blood and redeemed, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

LOVE

LISTEN TO AUDIO (less than 1mb): http://goo.gl/MBXH66

Prov 10:12

Hatred stirs up quarrels,

but love makes up for all offenses. NLT

If there is someone you do not want to be with, his or her speech irritates you, his or her sight pieces you off, you sometimes don't even know why; I will tell you why; you have not loved enough.

The power of love is best expressed in its ability to make up for offenses. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Cor 13:4-7)

Do you really love? Check out for the above attributes and give yourself a sincere answer. Make up your mind to love and be at peace with all, this is God’s will for you.

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for loving me, please help me to love others the way you love me. Amen

THE PURPOSE OF GOD IN OUR TESTS AND TRIALS 2

AUDIO VERSION (<1MB):

http://bit.ly/1wi5kia

James 1:2

Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. AMP

Why should we rejoice in our trials and problems? You see, there are lots of benefits for those that overcome. I will share with you a few of them today:

1. You will reign with Christ in this life. Rom 5:17

2. You will reign with Jesus in the life to come forever. Rev. 22:5

3. You will be glorified together with Christ. Rom. 8:17

4. You shall appear with Christ in glory. Col. 3:3-4

5. Jesus will give you to eat of the tree of life. Rev. 2:7

6. You will not be hurt by the second death. Rev. 2:11

7. The Lord will give you power over the nations. Rev. 2:26

Considering all these benefits, Jesus endured the cross and despised the shame, thus, giving us a model to follow. Heb. 12:2. Don’t complain in your wilderness. Don’t give up, no matter what. Don’t give up your holiness and righteousness. Hang in there, we’re almost there!

Prayer: Father, please give me the strength to hold on till the end, in Jesus name I pray, amen.

THE PURPOSE OF GOD IN OUR TESTS AND TRIALS 1

AUDIO VERSION (less than 1MB):

http://bit.ly/12vLUMb

James 1:2

Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. AMP

The purpose of tests and trials is for your greater good at the end. Trials will deal with your pride and help you to be humble. It proves you, helps you to know who you really are. (Psalm 105:19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.KJV) Whatever you are going through did not happen by chance, God has a purpose for the trials you are going through. The Lord has resources He wants to bestow on those that have been proven faithful to the end. God will not announce the faith that has not been tested. Overcoming means confrontation and conquest. The only way to know if you’re qualified for what God has for you is when you go through that trial and still come out strong.

Friends, the question I ask myself today is, what is my response when I encounter all sorts of trials and challenges? How do you react to problems? Do you complain and murmur, or do you praise God for all things? Let us praise God in response to trials because something good will always come out of it.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to praise You in whatever situation I find myself today, and if my pride ever grows bigger than the love I have for you Lord, please remind me it’s your air that I breathe, Amen.

LIFE IS SHORT

image

AUDIO VERSION (<1MB):

http://bit.ly/1674psp

Psalms 90:10

Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty.

But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.

NLT

Tic, tic says the clock, tic, tic, what you have to do, do quick. I was thought that as a child, but this is more real now than it was then.

This is only a reminder of the inevitable, it is sure that we are growing old, for once I was a child but now an adult. What am I on earth for, will I be able to finish my assignment? We celebrate birthdays, and graduations, we win medals and awards, people chant our names, singing our praises but, we seem not to understand that every day spent is your total days minus one.

Life is short; death is inevitable; judgment comes after death. How prepared are you for eternity?

Let us pray today like David did saying "teach me to number my days, that I may apply my heart unto wisdom."

Prayer: thank you Lord for this reminder, help me to live daily doing what you brought me here to do. Teach me to number my days, that I may apply my heart unto wisdom.

THE POWER WITHIN

image

DOWNLOAD OR LISTEN TO THE AUDIO (LESS THAN 1MB): http://bit.ly/1GgoUxA

Eph 3:20

'Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.' KJV

As believers, there are measures of power that is at work within us (see John 1:12). The extent to which our prayers are powerful is related to the extent of the power within us.

There are two basic ways we can increase the measure of power within: by effectual and fervent prayers and by the revelation of God's word.

'The prayer of a good man is full of power in its working' (see James 5:16b BBE). Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit after the forty days fasting and prayers (see Luke 4:14). The scriptures make us understand that we are bound to do greater works than Jesus did (see John 14:12), but Jesus said to the disciples that couldn't cast out a particular demon that '...this kind goeth not out but by prayers and fasting' (Matt 17:21). This is true because the more we engage in fasting and prayers the more power that is being released within us.

Go into today knowing that whenever you pray fervently we receive power.

PRAYERS: Lord, help me to always pray fervently. Amen

SEEK WISDOM

image

AUDIO VERSION

Proverbs 14:1

A wise woman builds her home,

But a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.

Wisdom builds up while foolishness tears down and destroys.

I do not believe that there is anyone one who is willfully foolish. I do not believe there is any human being who wants to destroy what he or she has built. Why then are there some foolish people while some others are wise? Why are some people wiser than others? I think the answer to this question can be found (among other places) in the book of Proverbs 8:14, where wisdom talks about how she loves those who love her. People who do not care about being wise cannot end up being wise. Wisdom does not come naturally, so there has to be a real desire for wisdom in order to walk in it. Anyone who despises the notion of being wise will have a scarce supply of wisdom.

God's plan for you as His child is that you walk in Divine Wisdom all the days of your life.

Let’s go into today with the wisdom (Holy Spirit) Consciousness and see the manifestation of a greater dimension of Wisdom in our lives.

Prayer: Heavenly father, I thank you for the gift of wisdom you have made available to me. I ask that you help me Utilize this gift to your glory today, In Jesus name. Amen

THE HOLY SPIRIT: THE RESTRAINER

image

AUDIO VERSION : http://bit.ly/1wPmPZK

2Th 2:7 For the secret of evil is even now at work: but there is one who is keeping back the evil till he is taken out of the way. BBE

Jesus said “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (Jn 9:5) And he said to us – Spirit filled men – that we also are the light of the world and the salt of the earth” (Mat 5:13,14). Light speaks of remedy - truth and its knowledge, together with the spiritual purity associated with it, while Salt is a symbol of lasting concord – shield from depravity and preservation of state.

So, as long as we are in the world, as long as the Holy Spirit keeps working through us, our light and salt will preserve the earth and its people. But this would only be until the rapture of the church, when the Holy Spirit would be taken out of the way and the saints who he inhabits taken up with him to meet the Lord, then impending destruction of the earth would no longer be prevented. (1 Thess 4:17, 2 Thess 2:7)

Go into today, with the understanding of Obadiah 1:21, that you are a savior from Zion. Let your light shine and overcome the darkness in your neighborhood.

PRAYERS: Father, help me to acknowledge that my presence on the earth is for the salvation of the world. I pray I will never hide my light or lose my saltness, in Jesus name. Amen

THE HOLY SPIRIT: THE GUARANTEE

image

AUDIO VERSION : http://bit.ly/1wM54L5

2Co 1:22

And it is he who has put his stamp on us, even the Spirit, as the sign in our hearts of the coming glory. BBE

We were made sons through the gospel we received. And by reason of this sonship, we became partakers of the heavenly calling and heirs of righteousness - our eternal inheritance.

At present, we have received the first fruit of our inheritance and we are able to manifest to some degree the realities of the divine life through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. That’s why Apostle Paul says “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known” (1 Cor 13: 12).

The Holy Spirit is the guarantee (assurance, down payment) of our glorious heritage. Therefore, we should live with the assurance of our eternal rewards and inheritance by reason of the fellowship, fruits, gifts and graces of the spirit we enjoy now.

As you rejoice and fellowship in the Spirit today, glorify God for the hope of your inheritance and rewards in Heaven

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for your Holy Spirit of Promise which you have sent to abide with us forever and for the assurance of eternity that He brings. Lord I ray you give me grace to walk always in sweet fellowship with the spirit, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen

IF JESUS MUST COME SOON

image

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1s1W6SU

Matthew 24:14.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. NET

If Jesus must come soon, we must play our part. Matthew 24:4-11 describes what we should expect when the end is near, all of which are being fulfilled now.

Our part is to carry the gospel of the kingdom throughout the whole world. We are to preach the Gospel of the kingdom and not another gospel. This gospel is one that creates a total submission to the lordship and authority of Christ in the lives of men and women.

You are saved by grace and this is a gift of God; freely have you received, freely give. We have prayed in the past, it is now time to act, now is the time to go and preach the gospel of the kingdom of God.

Determine to be a witness, tell someone about Christ today, win a soul, make God happy; for yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry (Heb 10:37).

You can begin by determining to distribute this devotional to all your contacts and let the word of the Kingdom reach them daily.

Prayer: Father, help me to do my part in your end time agenda, my place another will not take; I receive grace to be a true witness, in Jesus name. Amen.

THE TIME OF HARVEST

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1vsRivg

Psalms 65:11

"You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance."

NLT

In the business world, stock is taken of the years activity and bonuses are given to staff to enable them enjoy the yuletide; in the same way, God also crowns the year with abundance for His children that serve Him.

The last quarter of the year is seen as dangerous times when havoc happens but this is not Gods plan, it is the devil's strategy to counter the program of God.

No matter how rough the year has been, this is the word of God for you "I am crowning this year with a bountiful harvest, even your hard pathways will over flow with abundance". What comfort from our loving father!

Go into your day rejoicing, knowing that the time of abundance is now here. Prepare yourself for the bountiful harvest.

KNOWING JESUS

image

AUDIO VERSIONhttp://goo.gl/u70ccM

Acts 19:13

13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."

NIV

I saw a publication on the internet saying a book has been discovered which reveals that Jesus was not really crucified. The publisher (clearly an anti-Christian person) was trying to make a case that Christianity will be shaken by this ‘discovery’. In case you were wondering, fairy tales have more degree of antiquity and integrity than that particular piece of ‘discovery’. I wonder when such people will realize that for a Christian, history and documentations of events only correlate our experience of Christ, they are not the basis of our faith. Our faith is based on an experience of the person; the grace, love and fellowship of God.

The seven sons of Sceva (in Acts 19) only heard about Jesus from Paul, they did not know Him personally. We know the rest of their story (See Acts 19:13-16).

If we must experience the fullness of Christ and enjoy Christianity according to God’s plan, then we need an encounter with Christ; an experiential knowledge of Him. We get this experience in the place of fellowship with Him; when there is a desire and hunger for Him.

Go into today determined to take out time and seek the face of the lord. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” says the Lord -Jer 29:13.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, my heart is open; I want to know you more from today. Please fill my heart with the knowledge of you. Amen

LET US LIVE DECENTLY

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO : http://bit.ly/1rSCXsa

Rom 13:13-14

13 Let us live decently as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in discord and jealousy. 14 Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to arouse its desires. NET

If a leader of any other religion rapes a lady or commits any other heinous crime, it doesn't make the news, but it is an entirely different story when a pastor or Christian leader is the one involved. One of the things that always challenges me about people who are not born again is their very high moral expectations from we Christians. Many times, we forget how much they expect from us and think they see us in the same light as they see themselves, while in reality they see us as moral beacons.

One thing our text for today reveals is that the way to truly live decent lives is to put on Christ and make no provision for the flesh to arouse its desires. Putting on Christ is what gives us strength to resist the flesh. The way to put on Christ is by staying filled with the Spirit; the way to stay filled with the Holy Spirit is by avoiding fleshly indulgences (like drunkenness) and maintaining a Joyful and thankful state of heart; always thanking God for all things, making melody in your heart always to the lord, and also maintaining good Christian company (see Eph 5:18-21)

As you go into today, determine to stay filled with the Holy Spirit by maintaining a joyful and thankful mood. Consciously make sure there's a song in your heart all day.

Prayer: Dear God, as I go into today, help me properly express you and never bring reproach to your holy name, in Jesus mighty name. Amen

Hosea 6:3

Let’s do our best to know the LORD. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime. (CEV)

As we strive or do our best to know the Lord, we must understand that He is coming again. His coming (His second coming) is as sure as the morning sun. He is coming for those who know Him, not for strangers. That is why we must not give up; we must do our best to know Him some more every day. Don’t forget that knowing Him is by revelation and the help of the Holy Spirit. You submit yourself to the Holy Spirit’s help, and play your part by seeking His face in prayer and studying the word.

So, friends, let’s do our best to know the Lord, because, one day He will return. And when He comes, He will refresh us. It’s not easy I know, but let’s do our best to know Him more, and as you know Him, share Him with others around you. Don’t forget, if you know Him, your lifestyle will show it.

Go into today determined to share Christ with someone.

Prayer: Father, please give me the boldness I need to share the message of Jesus with somebody today, in Jesus name. Amen.

Hosea 6:3

Let's do our best to know the LORD. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime. (CEV)

Hosea advices us today saying “Let us strive, let’s do our best to know the Lord”. In the amplified version, we notice that knowing the Lord means recognizing, acquainting ourselves with and understanding Him. To know the Lord also means to appreciate, give heed to and cherish Him. The next thing the prophet talks about is His coming. You see, friends, you can’t withstand His coming if you don’t know Him. One of the principles we must get from this verse of scripture is this: when we strive to know Him, when we apply our hearts to seek Him, He will reveal Himself to us. Jer. 29:12-13. If you really seek Him, He will surely show up, His coming is as certain as the morning sun.

And guess what? He is not coming empty handed; He is coming to refresh you with His presence.

Go into today determined to live and walk in His presence.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask that You refresh me with Your presence today, as You help me to know you better, amen.

Hosea 6:3

Let's do our best to know the LORD. His coming is as certain as the morning sun; he will refresh us like rain renewing the earth in the springtime. (CEV)

We know God by revelation. In 2 Peter 1:3, we are told that all that God has given us for living a godly life can only be obtained through the knowledge of Jesus Christ. The reason we must strive to know the Lord is because there are some forces, both external and internal that will contend with us to prevent us from knowing Him.

For instance, it’s easier to talk to a friend on the phone throughout the night than to engage in prayer throughout the night talking to God. One of the most significant adversaries you must face and overcome if you’re to know the Lord is called SELF. If you’re wondering what he looks like, just look in the mirror.

Friends, it takes commitment and some work on our part to know the Lord. And the best place to start this morning is in the place of prayer and the word of God.

Prayer: Dear Lord, as I make this commitment to seek Your face from today, please reveal Yourself to me in a deeper way, amen.

WATCH AND PRAY

image

LISTEN TO AUDIO :

http://bit.ly/11VlmnM

Matt. 26:41

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

KJV

The ministry of Jesus was characterized by intense and consistent prayers.

Jesus, although the son of God, overcame all the temptations He encountered because He was consistently watching and praying.

These two words are justly linked together. Watching which means taking heed and constantly checking one's self and stand in God through God's word, is not enough to keep us from falling. Jesus' recommendation is watching and praying.

It's true that a Christian without a consistent prayer and bible study life will fall anytime. (See 1 Cor. 10:12)

Go into today determined to develop a consistent bible study and prayer time, as this is the only way to keep standing.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask for the grace to keep watch and to pray daily, in Jesus name amen.
