Ephesians 1:8 (KJV) Wherein [in grace] he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence.

I have heard and used the standard definitions such as “unmerited favor” and “God’s riches at Christ’s expense,” but this verse really reveals to us God’s definition of grace. Grace at its simplest is God abounding toward man. Man simply receives.  Everything you need for your natural and spiritual existence in this life and throughout eternity is being delivered to you by God the Father. Not only does He give us natural and spiritual blessings, but He also gives us the ability to flow supernaturally in our everyday situations. He gives us wisdom and prudence (good sense). Both of these attributes are products of the Spirit-filled and Word-filled life.

Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge. Knowledge is an input, and wisdom is an output. Knowledge is being a hearer of the Word, and wisdom is being a doer. Knowledge is gained through our being diligent. We must study to show ourselves approved unto God (2Tim. 2:15). God will not do this for us. Once we have done our part and studied, God will help us put what we have learned to work in the form of wisdom. The Word does not say, “If any man lack knowledge, let him ask of God.” It does say, “If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God” (James 1:5). Not only does God give us wisdom, but He also gives us good sense or prudence. Christians should have more understanding than anyone else in the world. Believers full of the Word should come up with such common sense (wise) decisions that the world would stand in awe as to why they could not see the simplicity of the answer. This should be a daily confession of every believer: “My God is abounding toward me today with wisdom and good sense for every circumstance and problem I will face today.” There is not a weapon formed against you that can prosper when you are armed with the simplicity of the Word of God (Isa. 54:17).

Go into today knowing that, there is not a weapon formed against you that can prosper when you are armed with the simplicity of the Word of God.

Prayer: Father, thank you for abounding toward me today with wisdom for every circumstance and challenge that may come my way. Please continue your loving-kindness(Psalm 36:10)

1 John 5:3 (KJV) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Securing university admission at a time was the best thing that can happen to any young person. Amanda was admitted to study law in one of the most prestigious universities in the country. She was completely overtaken and wrapped up in joy. She kept recanting in her mind how she's now free to live as she had always dreamed.

Amanda was raised in a strict Christian home. Seeing university as the abode for reckless freedom was her entrance into the lawlessness that negatively altered the outcome of her life. She was shot and left in cold blood by her boyfriend’s rival cult group in the third year of her program.

The law (commandments) is given to place us on the path of destiny. It helps us to live in the glory that has been prepared for us. When the Lord walked as a man on earth he spoke of the thief. "He (The Lawless one) comes only that he might steal and kill then destroy. But the Lord came that we may have life, and may have it abundantly."

There's a path that leads to life, and a life that is full of abundance, strait and narrow it is, yet packed with wisdom and glory. It is the athletic track of the saved ones. (See Deuteronomy 4:5-8).

Go into the world today, knowing that the path of lawlessness promises everything good, yet steals the good by feeding one with all that leads to death and destruction. The commands of the Lord are not to grieve or stress us. He gives commands and law to those whom he saved and secures in love. We love God by doing that which He commands us in love(John 14:15).

Prayer: LORD, unveil my eyes that I will see wondrous things out of your law.

Abraham of God

Genesis 14:19 (KJV) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth

Growing up Joe always felt he was getting the short end of the stick because of his position in the family, he was the last child. He was a boy with a big appetite and always found it annoying that when it was time for meals, his mother would dish out three portions and ask his elder sisters to select first starting with the eldest and he got left with the last portion, which to his mind was the smallest and with the least attractive piece of meat.

This annoyance was heightened by the fact that he was the one sent most on errands because he gets sent both by his parents and his elder siblings and it was law in his house that he wouldn’t disrespect his elder siblings. If only he had a younger one, he mused.

You can tell how mature a man is in his walk with God by how much of his rights and privileges he is willing to forgo for the sake of God. Take Abraham for example. Abraham had left Haran, in answer to God’s call, in the company of his nephew Lot. However, when a contention arose between his men and Lot’s men, the manner in which Abraham handled the matter showed he wasn’t like just any other man. He gave Lot the opportunity to choose first.

Likewise, when Sodom and Gomorrah became involved in the fight with the four kings, Lot was captured along with others and Abraham (then Abram) organized his household into an army and fought the four kings, defeated them, and rescued Lot along with the other captures. He also recovered their goods as spoils. As was the practice in those times, he was entitled to keeping the spoils for himself for all his effort, but yet again, he resolutely refused to take up this right insisting that he would give no one the opportunity of robbing God of his glory by saying that they made Abraham rich. His interest in God’s glory overrode and superseded his desire for material gain.

One of the reasons why Abraham could think like this is because he had come to know God not just as the one who leads him out of his father’s house, but also as the possessor of heaven and earth (See Genesis 14:22-23), this understanding that God owns everything made it sensible to him that if he were to forego something that could taint his testimony, he ultimately has suffered no disadvantage.

Go into today knowing that suffering a temporary loss in obedience to God ultimately is gain.
Prayer: Lord, let my interest in your glory supersede my desire for material gain. Help me know you more. Amen.

Members Of One Body

1 Corinthians 12:15-16 (NKJV)If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body?

On social media, Ugochukwu was very fond of criticizing church leaders. Even though he was a believer, because he was not called into the ministry of teaching or preaching (all five-fold ministry offices involve teaching and/or preaching), he did not properly reckon himself as a part of the body but felt it was OK for him to stand apart from the church and criticize it publicly. Through his actions, he was saying ‘I am not of the body’.

One of the loudest ways a believer can say ‘I am not of the body’ is by joining unbelievers and enemies of Christ to publicly malign and criticize the church and its ministers. This post is in no way giving leeway to ministers who err but is a reminder to believers that many [trumped up] attacks on erring ministers have an underlining agenda to destroy the credibility of the body of Christ as a whole. It is foolishness to be part of this as a member of the body.

Not being a preacher, Ugochukwu didn't feel like a part of the body of Christ the way he should, but this didn't change the fact that through faith in Christ, he was indeed a part of the body. It took him time to realize that his habit of publicly criticizing ministers of the body of Christ was a major limiting factor in his walk with the Lord. He could not walk in divine health and healing because of this.

Go into today remembering that through faith in Christ Jesus, you are a member of the body of Christ. Do not be tempted to feel you are less a member than those who are at the forefront of ministry. Some of the unseen parts of the body are the most important.

Prayer: Ask the Lord the help you rightly discern His body and draw from all the benefits that His body provides.

Knowing the Spirit 2 (Stirring Up the Spirit for Works)

2 Timothy 1:6-7 (KJV) Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

In yesterday's meditation, we saw that God never does anything without His Spirit. It is His Spirit (Holy Spirit) that performs His works. We also established that no man, at any dispensation, worked great things in God without the visitation or habitation of the Spirit of God.

Today, we are zeroing in on how to work with the Holy Spirit. The Biblical writers choose to use the word “stir” when God launches the Spirit for work. (See Ezra 1:1 & Ezra 1:5, Haggi 1:14, Jeremiah 51:11). In the scriptural references above, you see that God initiated all the stirrings, and they were all for accomplishing His purposes (Building His House and Tearing down kingdoms). The account of the pool of Bethesda paints a clearer narrative of this operation. An angel comes to stir a pool at a certain season, the troubled water activates life in anyone first thrown into it: the person who is thrown into this water receives instant healing; it does not matter what the issue was.

Psalms 29:3 and Genesis 1:1 point to the reality of the voice of God (Life) that hovers on many waters. When Jesus began his earthly ministry, He worked out of the volumes that had been written concerning Him. Our lives should be no different.

Praise the Lord, in your belly gushes rivers of living waters, and over this water are the speakings of God (gifts).

His voice framed the visible world out of formlessness and voidness by the stirring of His Spirit in Genesis 1:1. When the waters of the Holy Spirit is stirred up, there comes the voice of wisdom and understanding, the voice of counsel and might, the voice of knowledge and godly reverence, and the voice of judgment. See Psalms 29:3-11 to know what can happen when the Spirit is stirred up. He stirred the winds (of His Spirit) to give breath to dead bones (Ezekiel 37), He stirred His Spirit to supply meat in the wilderness (Numbers 11:31). What will you do with the Spirit in you?

From today, never go into your day without stirring the Spirit for the works of that day. You do this in the place of prayer and [confessing] the word.

Prayer: LORD, quicken a heightened desire and hunger to always stir your Spirit within me for all good works.

Zechariah 4:6 (LITV) Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, This *is* the word of Jehovah to Zerubbabel, saying, not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says Jehovah of hosts.

The opening phrases of the Bible Have words like "beginning", "created", "void", "formless". It is at the center of all these that the first personality of the Bible is introduced. Nothing happened until this personality appeared on the scene (hovering over the deep).

It is important to carefully follow on to see how God goes about his business, given that we have received the authority to become the sons of God. The consequence of becoming an offspring of the Father is that we carry His spots and by implication do the works He does. (See Deut. 32:5, Matt. 17:15-17). It is to this end that even creation holds up an expectation (for the manifestation of the sons of God).

In every instance in the scriptures, (both in the old and new testament) that God acted, it was by the Holy Spirit. In some places of the old testament, the Spirit was likened to the wind (See Genesis 8:1, Numbers 11:31 Jeremiah 17:18, Ezekiel 37:29) and in the new testament, Jesus likened a man who is born of the Spirit to wind.

Every man that made a great impact in God, did through the Holy Spirit. In the old covenant, it came upon men (Visitations). All through the old testament, you hear statements like THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD CAME UPON. (See Judges 3:10, Ezekiel 11:5, 1 Samuel 16:13-14). Under the new covenant, our relationship with the Spirit is that of habitation; the Holy Ghost who now dwells in us is the spirit of divine works.

Go into today knowing that the Holy Spirit who is in continuous fellowship and participation with the Father and the Son, is in you. He is waiting in the garden of your heart for intimacy. It is by Him that all works are done.

Prayer: LORD, awaken my heart to an unbroken consciousness of your presence.

Ephesians 1:4 (NET) For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love.

We were chosen before the foundation of the world. This shows us once again the immensity of God who has always existed, there never was a time nor ever will be a time when He will not exist. Time is no problem with Him because He lives in a realm where time does not exist. We are bound by time, but God is not. He sees tomorrow, next year, and eternity to come as clearly as we see this moment. He knows the problems you will face tomorrow and has already planned every answer for you. God planned answers before problems existed hence nothing can ever take Him by surprise or unawares. It is Ignorance to think you can face a problem tomorrow or next week for which God has not already made a way of escape (1Corin. 10:13). Problems may catch you off-guard, but they never surprise God. If He planned for the biggest problem in your life through the new birth, don’t you think He can handle the smaller ones on the job, in the home, or at school?

Somehow we get the idea that God saved us, filled us with the Holy Spirit, and left us to fend for ourselves. God not only planned for us to enter this new life but also planned for us to live victoriously while we wait for the glorious appearing of our Lord.

God knows the future and has made plans for you to succeed. Don’t try to help God by worrying. Sit back and enjoy the ride. This is the life of faith that pleases God. (See Heb. 11:6.).

Before the foundation of the world, God destined you to be holy and without blame. From the foundation of the world, He has destined you to be righteous and holy. We need to see ourselves as God sees us and focus not at the things which are seen [our mistakes and failures], but at the things which are not seen [our heavenly position]: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal (2Corin 4:18).

Right now, seated with Jesus in heavenly places, you are seen as “holy and without blame” because you are in Him (Christ). If I am in Him, I am holy and without blame. What this understanding does is to remove the attitude of defeat and condemnation. If you miss the mark, repent and ask God to forgive you (1John 1:9), then see yourself as He does—forgiven, holy, and without blame, and make every effort never to go back to that sin. Remember, anyone who practices sin is of the devil (Read 1John 3:8).

Go into today with the understanding that right now you are seated with Jesus in heavenly places. You are seen as “holy and without blame” because you are in Christ.

Prayer: ask the Lord to help you to live holy, justly, and without blame.

Philippians 3:10 (KJV)  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death

Sandra and Uche decided to go on a fast concerning their engagement. It had become clear to them that their engagement was under attack and they wanted the attacks to stop. After praying and fasting for four days, Sandra had a dream in which she saw a masquerade trying to harm her, but she ended up beating the masquerade and driving it away. She knew that day that the Lord had given her victory. The next morning, the chief priest of the shrine in their family house woke up with sores and loud cries.

He kept shouting the name of Sandra.

That was when Sandra knew about how her grandmother was a shrine priestess and the gods were offended that her father did not continue in the tradition of idol worship.

Sandra could confront and overpower the dreadful masquerade that appeared to her in her dream because through her growing knowledge of the Lord, she was strengthened with His mighty power.

Many believers today are not spiritually strong because they do not have a growing knowledge of the Lord. This is because many believers do not give time to seeking the Lord.

Go into today remembering that giving the Lord time out of your busy schedule each day is a way to honor Him and get to know Him.

Prayer: Lord, help me know you and become more like you. Amen.

Colossians 2:6 (KJV)“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him”

While Tom was explaining to Sam the reason he had not experienced the mighty power of God in his life, Caleb interrupted the conversation and told Tom that he had received Jesus in his life for more than 2 years now but the power of God was still not evident in his life. Once again, Tom laughed in his heart because Sam and Caleb were his colleagues and he knew them very well. Tom told Caleb: “I agree that you have accepted the Lord Jesus, but I also know that you are not abiding in Him and walking in Him”. The bible says in John 1:12 that “As many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on his name”

Yesterday, we saw that the first step to knowing the Lord is receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. From our meditation today in Colossians 2:6, we see that it doesn’t end with receiving the Lord, but you must walk in Him. Walking in Him means living under His authority and letting His word order your steps and actions.

Following the initial act of faith, there must be continual action of believing. The root word for “believe” in John 1:12 describes a continued action and indicates the need for perseverance [in believing]. This was the testimony of Tom, he did not just believe but he was abiding in Christ. Over time, he had subjected himself to spiritual disciplines that strengthened the will of his spirit over the control of his flesh. That was why God could use him to perform many signs and wonders. He did not  stop at the initial act of receiving Christ but became closer to God by continuing In His word and desiring to know Him more.

As a believer, you are expected to live daily for Christ. You cannot access the depths of God if you are not living daily for Christ. Caleb had received Christ but he failed to understand that anyone who must walk in the fullness of God must know Him.

Go into today knowing that we have been called into the family of Christ with the right to access the presence of God. Pray that from today, you will live in a manner worthy of the Lord so that you will have the boldness to walk in His mighty power through faith.

John 1:12 (KJV) “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”

Sam was worried that he started going to Church with Tom at the same time but God was now using Tom to perform astonishing miracles in their community. So he approached Tom in a rude and contemptuous manner and asked him "why is God so partial in the way he uses his Children. He uses one better than the other?" Tom laughed in his heart because he knew where Sam was driving at.

Sam had not truly accepted Jesus as his Lord but he wanted God to start using him. He was only attending Church services with Tom but had not been born of God. Tom told Sam that he needed to receive Christ in his heart as his Saviour and Lord. "You have to receive Christ in his life in order to be conferred with the “RIGHT” to become a Son of God.

To receive Christ is an initial act of faith that must first be established if one has a desire to know God personally. If you want to know God experientially, you must receive Christ in your heart first. This is the starting point in your spiritual journey. God does not reveal himself to a stranger. He reveals himself to a person who has acknowledged Him as Lord. God is a Spirit and if you want to relate with him, your spirit must be born again.

Note that John 1:12 depicts clearly how saving faith is both the act of a single instant and an ongoing attitude of a lifetime.

Tomorrow we shall see how Tom became useful and efficient in the hands of God. The journey of knowing God does not stop in confessing Christ alone, there is a process.

Go into today knowing that your knowledge of God starts with receiving Christ in your heart as Saviour and Lord.

Psalms 25:9 (NET) The meek will he guide in judgment and the meek will he teach his way

Tosin was seething with anger as the message was going on. “How dare she make him the subject of her sermon? Just because she is a leader in fellowship doesn’t give her the right to embarrass him” He was going to give it to her once the service was over. However, even as angry as he was, he had a restrain in his spirit to not vent his anger on Sister Debby as planned, a part of him didn’t want to go with that nudge, but he knew that that was the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Just as the world has its customs and ways of doing things, there are also ways of perceiving life and doing things in God’s Kingdom and they are opposed to each other. Unless one begins to learn and act in the ways of God, he will act and live just like a wicked and unrighteous man (See Isaiah 55:7-9). One task a believer must preoccupy himself with is to know the Lord; to know His person and His ways. This requires great humility because this demands that the person acknowledges that all he knows amounts to nothing so he can begin to learn what is truly something.

It is this meekness that is highlighted in James 1 verse 21 “Wherefore laying aside all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls”. As one receives the word with meekness, his mind gets renewed and he gets transformed. This transformation is what produces maturity in believers that the beauty and nature of Jesus become easily displayed and manifested through one’s life.

It is a sad sight to see men and women who profess to be believers live as though they had never met the Lord. When you see believers who have no qualms living in immorality, swindling their friends and customers, who hold and carry grudges refusing to forgive, who strife and seek to have their way at all times. This is not God’s design. God’s design is that every believer becomes like Christ (See Romans 8:29). This is only achieved through committed and conscious learning and discipleship.

Go into today determined to know the Lord through submitting in meekness to learning and discipleship.

Philippians 3:10 (KJV) That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death

Before Sandra and Uche met, she had given priority to knowing the Lord. Because of this, she was strong and now had a robust relationship with the Lord. Unknown to Sandra, there were some demonic powers that had vowed that she would never get married because her grandmother was a priestess but her family refused to continue in the traditions and rituals of their household gods. Sandra being the first daughter of her grandmother's first son was the one the evil spirits decided to afflict by keeping her unmarried. But Sandra was now born again and was now growing in the knowledge of the Lord. Uche, her fiance, was also a man that knew the Lord.

As her wedding date drew nearer, darkness began to rear its ugly head. It started with bad dreams that Sandra's fiance kept having concerning her. He would sometimes dream that she turned into a snake or a lizard. He almost broke the relationship but since he was a man that knew the Lord, he knew the Lord didn't want him to end the relationship. He knew the Lord wanted him to stand with her and win that battle.

When he discussed these troubling dreams with Sandra, she revealed to him that she too had been having similar dreams about him. The last she had was one in which he turned into a dog and bit her.

If Sandra did not know the Lord and the power of His resurrection, those demons would have succeeded in preventing her from getting married this time like they had done before, but the Lord gave her victory, and what the enemy meant for evil brought her and her fiance even closer.

Go into today remembering that growing in the knowledge of the Lord is not a luxury but a necessity for life and destiny.

Prayer: Lord, in this year, help me know you more than ever before. Help me walk in your mighty power more than ever before. Amen.

Philippians 3:10 (NET) My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death

There is a sense of comradery and brotherhood that soldiers share that is uncommon with other kinds of friendship. Some veterans have admitted to forging deeper bonds with members of their units than even their wives. There is something about experiencing danger and threat of death together with a person, or persons even, which forges strong bonds. It is similar, in a sense, to the bond a mother has with her child because of the pains of childbirth. This is because these kinds of shared experiences opens up a man to his friend/companion in a way that casual experiences do not.

As believers, we have a unique opportunity here on earth to know the Lord in a way even angels cannot. We get to not just serve him, we get to partake in his sufferings and undergo persecution and afflictions, not just for him, but also with him. This is the reason why time and again the Bible admonishes and instructs that persecution for the sake of Christ must be greeted with joy from the believer, not because believers are masochists, but rather because of the blessedness it presents (See Matthew 5;12; Romans 5:3 and James 1:2-3).

The book of Acts accounts that when the apostles were persecuted they left “rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name” (Acts 5:41). Suffering, shame, pain, persecution, for Christ’s sake is a badge of honor true believers wear proudly. It affords us the privilege of knowing the Lord more intimately and it makes us that we are able to bear the deep burdens of his heart.

Knowing him in this way and dimension doesn’t leave us the same, it refines us as gold and produces a reward for us. Hear how Apostle Peter puts it, “Such trials show the proven character of your faith, which is much more valuable than gold – gold that is tested by fire” (1 Peter 1:6a NET) while Apostle Paul phrases it this way, “For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison” (2 Corinthians 4:17 NET).

Go into today armed with the knowledge that there is great glory prepared for those who suffer with the Lord here on earth. Deepen your walk with Him by choosing to suffer for Him rather than conforming to this world.

Philippians 3:10 (KJV) That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death

Clement: why are you not worried about this situation?

Uche: Don't worry, I'll talk to the Lord about it.

The next day, things changed and it was clear that God had intervened in the situation because Uche had prayed.

Clement wanted to know why Uche's prayer was answered so soon while he had been praying(and worrying) about the matter for several days but nothing changed.

Clement: I had been praying about this situation for weeks and nothing changed. You just showed up and said you would talk to the Lord and everything changed.

Uche: I was not praying a religious prayer but I was talking to someone I know personally. That's what made the difference.
Every believer has the opportunity to know the Lord personally, it's just many do not try to know Him.
After we believe in the Lord Jesus, we are brought into the privilege of knowing Him. But whether or not we would truly know Him depends on if we seek to know Him. Jesus is a person whose voice we can know. He is real and living. Just like with everyone you get to know, you have to give time to [seeking] Him. Give time to talking with Him and learning His ways.

When Apostle Paul wrote today's Bible verse, he had already believed for many years, but he desired to know the Lord more. After believing, the first step to knowing the Lord is a desire to know Him (see Phil 3:10). Those who have no such desire do not really get to know the Lord.

Go into today remembering that when you know the Lord, prayers would cease to be a monotonous chore and would become a conversation with your loving Father.

Prayer: Lord, reveal yourself to me. I want to know you more than I know any other person. Amen.

Ephesians 3:19 (AMP) [That you may really come] to know [practically through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

Pa Lekan was beside himself with amusement as he watched his children and grandchildren run around frantically trying to put up a last-minute surprise party for their mother and grandmother, his wife, to celebrate her 70th birthday. Everything seemed set: jollof-rice, well-spiced just like she loves it, smoothies, cake, and peppered gizzard. The sitting room was well decorated with balloons, ribbons, and messages of all shapes and sizes prominent of which read: “Seventy Looks Good On You”. Everything was set except for the special gift that she would cherish greatly.

Tunde suggested they replaced her car with a new one, Shola opined that they get her gold or diamond trinkets of the highest quality. The suggestions just kept rolling in until out of sheer exhaustion, they decided to seek their father’s opinion and he simply informed them that if they could just sacrifice a weekend, along with their kids, and spend it with her, she would cherish that the most beyond any gift they could afford.

There is a knowledge that comes from walking experientially with a person, this knowledge runs deep like deep waters. It is what makes couples who have lived harmoniously for a long time know so much of the other that they can basically finish each other’s sentences, and tell what the other person is thinking and feeling to a great extent. The more people get to know each other the more they can communicate richly non-verbally.

It is important that a man spends his youth walking with the Lord and growing in the knowledge of Him through His word, fellowship of prayers, and practical obedience to the Holy Spirit. The more a man does this the more his being gets flooded with the Presence of God.

Go into today determined to know God more intimately and through fellowship and practical obedience.

Acts 4:13 (NET) When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and discovered that they were uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

There is a marked difference between boldness and being bold-faced, this is a subject on which the seven sons of Sceva could hold a Masterclass. True boldness is backed by knowledge, a knowledge that is not just an academic inquiry but a tried and trusted knowledge usually obtained through encounters.

It is important that you understand the nature of God’s Kingdom into which you have been called as a believer. Advancement in this Kingdom is not obtained through education and academic learning, social status and pedigree do not add to it at all and neither does affluence nor opulence. In God’s Kingdom, growth and fruitfulness are guaranteed by abiding with and in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because, as we abide with and in Him, grace is multiplied to us and this produces great boldness and effectiveness in us.

Staying with Jesus is what transforms erstwhile ordinary men into men that cause amazement. Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12) and it is only by abiding in Him and He in us that we become lights too that must shine that men may return glory to God (see Matthew 5:16). The degree to which you can impact the world for Jesus will be directly proportional to the closeness of your walk with Him.

Every believer who maintains a healthy walk with the Lord will always elicit amazement from the world as it will be clear he is operating from a different and higher frequency, indeed, there will be no doubt in the minds of onlookers that that believer is marching to a different drummer. This has the potential of provoking persecution from the world, but persecution/suffering for the sake of Christ is a badge any discerning believer must be willing to wear with joy.

Go into today determined to stay with the Lord, to build and nurture your walk with Him until He lives and manifests Himself through you to the amazement of the world and glory of the Father.

Luke 24:32 (KJV) “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?"
“I've been a Christian for so many years now but I have never heard God speak to me. Am I growing at all? Lord Jesus, I won't leave here unless you speak to me; I want to hear your voice too" This was Paul’s prayer in a personal retreat. To his amazement, he saw nothing; no vision, no angelic visitation, not even a dream throughout the twenty one days of his prayer and fasting. He gave up after twenty one days of dry fast and just concluded that he'll live like every other Christian.

Sometime after this experience, he listened to a sermon and discovered that God has been communicating with him but he was the one who didn't pay attention. He sometimes just knew things without being pre informed. Often, he’d have loss of peace when he is to make certain unfavorable decisions. Sometimes, he would feel certain burning sensations in parts of his body when he is praying, etc.

Paul was like the disciples described in today's text, their hearts burned within them while Jesus spoke with them but they didn't pay attention to it. Many Christians are like this, they neglect God's unique way of communicating with them while expecting him to speak to them in certain popular ways.

In Matthew 9:4, “Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?" He didn't see a vision or dream, no angel visited him, neither was it by a prophet, he simply knew it.

Also, in Mark 5:30 (KJV) it is said concerning Jesus, “And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?”. This also was simply by knowing and not through some spectacular means.

Go into today knowing that if you desire a cordial relationship with God, you must understand how He speaks to you and respond to the same as He expects.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me understand how you communicate with me. Amen!

Daniel 11:32 (KJV) And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Sandra was strong because she knew the Lord. This was not a coincidence, it was because of deliberate actions she took to seek the Lord- She made time to pray, study and meditate on the word each day.

Before that year, if someone had told her what Mrs. Charles told her, she would have broken down in tears and entered another season of depression. It happened like that when she turned 32 and her grandma told her she was now an old maiden. It happened again when her aunt asked her when she was getting married because time was no more on her side.

But because she was now strong in the Lord and no longer heavy and depressed but had a cheerful and joyful countenance, the word the Lord gave to her came to fruition just as she heard it. She met Uche Amadi the next week, and he wanted to marry her. He was two years older than her and was already a professor. She didn't waste time to accept his proposal because the Lord had already spoken to her that she was going to enter a relationship and get married soon.

If she had allowed the words of Mrs. Charles to get to her and she entered her usual season of depression and heaviness, she would have missed her husband because her heaviness and sad countenance would have driven him away.

In Ephesians 6:9, we see that in order for us to put on the whole armor of God, we have to first be strong in the Lord. Knowing the Lord through fellowship with  Him is the way we receive His strength.

Go into today remembering that knowing the Lord does not just multiply his grace and peace in your lives, it increases your strength and ability to do His will.

Prayer: Lord, help me know you more each day, and walk in your glorious light. Amen.

Psalm 25:4 (KJV) “Shew me thy ways, O Lord ; teach me thy paths."

Cleo loved ice cream so much that she would sometime spend her last cash buying it. Her friend wasn't particularly comfortable with her excessive spending on ice creams so she downloaded recipes for making ice creams online, watched some YouTube videos and made her own ice cream for Cleo. “Thank you, but the one from that store has a unique taste that yours doesn't have" Cleo said. “Yes, I noticed it too, I think that store has some secrets that I don't know, I wish they could share them with me” Cloe's friend responded.

Cloe's friend couldn't make ice cream with the taste that Cleo loved because the secret was hidden from her. In the same vain, we will not be able to serve the Lord the way He wants unless His secrets are revealed to us.

According to Psalms 25:14 (NIV), “The LORD confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.” The ways of the Lord are His secrets, they are revealed only to His trusted friends. If you want to know the ways of the Lord, you must show yourself to be trustworthy.

It is good to have known the Lord as your savior, that however isn't all that there is in God, you need to learn how to become friends with God such that He can confide in you. It is only those in whom He can confide that His secrets are revealed.

It is the secrets of the Lord that you know that determines the level of victory you will enjoy. Moses for instance became great because he knew the ways of the Lord, the things that frightened the children of Israel didn't frighten him because of his knowledge of God.

Go into today knowing that you can have more of God by learning His ways and becoming His friend, This begins by determining to obey Him in all things. John 14:15 says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me the grace to obey you in all things so I can know Your ways and walk in your mighty power.

John 15:15 (ESV) “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you."

Fred resigned from his old job and picked up a new one with better pay. He however became friends with the CEO's daughter whom he eventually married. Because of marriage and because his wife was the CEO's only daughter and heir, nothing was kept away from him as a secret. This changed his approach to work, he stopped working for the pay and began to work for the sake of the family.

Many surrendered their lives to Jesus because of problems and others did because they needed to be free from sin, death, and hell. Thankfully, God is interested in meeting our needs and solving our problems. Regarding this, Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

If you are serving God just because you want your needs met, you're no different from a servant. Servants serve for pay, they are loyal as long as their pay keeps coming.

I no longer call you servants but friends, Jesus said in today's text. So, what differentiates a servant from a friend? Friends stick close, sometimes closer than a brother (Prob 18:24). To stick close to a friend is to share intimacy, share their joys, pains, and sorrows.

Are you a friend of God? You are if you share intimacy with Him such that you're bordered by the things that border Him and enjoy the things He enjoys. But, if the opposite is true for you, you are not His friend yet, hence, taking time to pray “Lord, show me your ways (secrets)” will be a waste of time because you haven't shown yourself friendly to him yet.

Do you want to become God's friend? Fear and obey Him (Isaiah 66:2).

Go into knowing that, the friendship of the LORD is for those who fear Him, and He makes known to them His covenant (Psalms 25:14 ESV).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to care about what you care about; help me become Your friend.

Given for Kingdom Profit

1 Corinthians 12:7 (YLT)And to each hath been given the manifestation of the Spirit for profit;

I was once sharing the gospel with a stranger and I sensed he was unusually resistant to the word of God. I knew in my spirit that the Lord wanted to save him that day, but I also sensed in my spirit that he was not open to what I was saying. As I kept waiting on the Lord and asking Him for help while engaging this young man with the gospel, the Lord gave me a word of Knowledge concerning him. As soon as I told him the word, he became open to what I had to say because the word revealed exactly what was going on in his life. He accepted the Lord Jesus that day because he saw the power of God manifested through a spiritual gift.

The gift of 'word of knowledge' made a profit for God's kingdom that day. That is what spiritual gifts are given us for. They are given for Kingdom profit.

Every spiritual gift you have received is an investment of heaven in your life for which you are to make kingdom profit. Stir up the gift by not neglecting it. Remember that you would give account for how profitable you were with your gifts.

Many do not walk in their spiritual gifts because they do not yet have a heart for God’s kingdom advancement. One very great hindrance to the manifestation or receiving of spiritual gifts is self-centeredness.

Go into today remembering that Believers who have a heart for the advancement of God's kingdom will more easily walk in their spiritual gifts.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to give you a heart for his kingdom. Ask the Lord to help you walk in your spiritual gifts and be fruitful in the kingdom.

James 2:23 (EEV) “And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness—and he was called a friend of God."

Dele and Rachel grew up in the same estate, went to the same high school; they left and returned together and studied the same course in the university. This made many who knew them to think they'll be best of friends and end up as husband and wife, but that didn't happen. Dele wanted it to; he even told his friends that nothing would stop him from marrying Rachel. But Rachel wasn't interested, this became evident when she brought her fiance home. "What happened?, Why?" were some of the questions asked by the people who had looked forward to seeing Dele and Rachel get married.

When Rachel caught a glimpse of their questions, she replied, "We could have been friends, but who wants to be friends with someone who does only what he likes? There was nothing I ever requested that he did if it wasn't his idea".

God is always interested in making us His friend, so He gives us instructions to test if we are willing to accept His offer. It is our response to these instructions that will determine whether he can trust us or not.

In Genesis 26:3-5 (KJV), God had this to say concerning Abraham to Isaac, “Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; and I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

You see, Abraham obtained the reputation of "friend of God" because he trusted God and obeyed God's voice; kept His charge, commandments, statutes, and laws. If you do the same, you will also become a friend of God.

Prayer: Lord, please give me a heart that obeys your voice and keeps your charge, commandments, statutes, and laws in Jesus' name. Amen!

Psalms 25:5 (KJV) “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

When you wait on the Lord, you will be transformed. The idea here is that your nature gets lost in His. He takes away your shame and disgrace and clothes you with honor. This is why the Psalmist says that not one person who waits for the Lord will be disgraced. (Psalm 25:3).

Also, you receive guidance when you wait on Him (Ps 25:5). You can’t lose your way or miss the mark if you are waiting on the Lord. Waiting has to do with patience. You see, He won’t teach you if you are in a hurry. Sometimes you need to wait all day long if necessary to be taught.

You will experience His salvation as you wait for Him. Integrity and uprightness are God’s character which He imparts on you as you wait for Him. (Ps. 25:21). Waiting on the Lord brings you to a point and place where you get bound together (like a twine) with God. You exchange your weakness for His strength. He changes your mindset and this leads to a change of vocabulary. When you speak like Him, the heavens become your transmission station.

Dear believer, wait on the Lord patiently and prayerfully this season. He will surely turn to you and hear your cry for help.

Prayer: Pray for grace to wait on the Lord this season.

1 Corinthians 12:1 (YLT)And concerning the spiritual things, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant
Ikenna got himself into a lot of trouble because in trying to seek the Lord and walk in His great power, unknown to him, he was using methods born out of spiritual knowledge that is not from the kingdom of God. This exposed him to wicked spirits that invaded his mind beyond his control. Through the help of more mature believers, he was delivered and restored.

If a person’s spiritual adventure is guided by the confession of a former witch or sorcerer, he may come in contact with darkness when seeking light because he is using methods that dark spirits know how to exploit.

Knowledge concerning spiritual things is very common in our world today. There are many books and materials out there that claim to enlighten one concerning spiritual things, but most of them don't give enlightenment at all. They are manipulations by the Prince of this world to keep people under spiritual bondage, but fill their heads with powerless knowledge. Anyone who is truly spiritually enlightened will seek to be saved.

There are some that seek to use spiritual principles obtained from darkness to navigate in the kingdom of light. The ways of the kingdom of God are very different from the ways of any other kingdom.

The Corinthians that Paul was writing to were very vast in spiritual understanding because they used to be very experienced ‘spiritually enlightened’ Idol worshipers to the core (see 1 Corinthians 12:2), but apostle Paul referred to them as being spiritually ignorant. The spiritual knowledge they had in darkness was not an advantage for them in their new spiritual adventure in the kingdom of light. They needed to unlearn many things in order to learn the right things.

Go into today knowing that the Bible is our spiritual manual. The easiest way to be guided by the leading of the Holy Spirit is to understand the book He inspired from start to finish--The Bible.

Ephesians 3:16-17 (NLT) “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvellous love.”

Our Lord’s resources are glorious and unlimited. If you are connected to Him, you will never run out of supply of inner strength because it is supplied from a source that is limitless. You can only connect to this glorious, unlimited resources through the Holy Spirit.

Our Lord desires to empower you with inner strength from His glorious unlimited resources through His Spirit.

As He empowers you with inner strength through His Spirit, He will make His home in your heart as you trust Him. However, for Jesus to make His home in your heart, there is a condition – John 14:23. (ISV) Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. Then my Father will love him, and we will go to him and make our home within him.” Dear believer, this empowerment will give you the strength to love Him by keeping His word, because you can’t really obey His word by your limited human strength. This empowerment will put love for Him in your heart and will give you the ability to trust Him.

His empowering you with inner strength through His Spirit, and Christ taking up residence in your heart as you trust Him will result in your root growing down into God’s love and continuous supply of spiritual stamina.

Pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources, He will give you mighty inner strength through His Spirit.

John 16:13 (ISV) “Yet when the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own accord, but will speak whatever he hears and will declare to you the things that are to come.”

Every single day presents to us opportunities to make choices and decisions. Where you are today is a result of all the choices and decisions you made in past years. As a believer, you will daily be confronted with opportunities to choose or decide to stand for the Lord Jesus or to turn your back on Him. In that very hour when you come face to face with such options, the decisions you will make will be dependent on the truth you know.

When you succumb to temptation and sin, you are turning your back on Jesus. When you decide to honor the Lord Jesus and refuse to give in to that temptation no matter the cost, you have chosen to stand for the Lord Jesus. But, you see, in the hour of temptation, the devil does not fill your mind with hatred for God, but rather he makes you forget the laws of God temporarily. If you forget the word of God in the hour of temptation, it implies that the word of God is not dwelling in your heart richly, and you are defenseless against the devil.

One of the reasons you need the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth is that He will bring to your mind the truth you need just at the very minute you need it, whether little or much. All the forces of darkness want to obscure the truth in the hour of temptation and confuse you. But the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, will bring to your remembrance whatever measure of truth you need to be faithful and choose Jesus above every other thing no matter the cost. This will only happen if you allow Him to lead you.

Dear believer, open your heart to Him today and welcome Him. He is the Spirit of Truth, He will lead you into all truth.

Prayer: Ask that the Holy Spirit will fill your heart today, and lead you

2 Peter 1:2 (KJV) Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord

Clement Amadi came from a very blessed family and everyone in his village acknowledged that his family was especially blessed. All of them were born again and very prosperous and successful in their various pursuits.

They used to say in their village that “may God bless us like he blessed the Amadi family”. The first doctor, first lawyer, and first pilot in their community came from the Amadi family.

Their family built a free hospital with state of the art equipment for the community.

Records have it that when the European missionaries first came to that community, their great grandfather was the only one in the village who believed and welcomed them into his home. Because of this, the peace of God was made to rest in that home and several years later it manifested in ways that brought envy from the rest of the villagers.

The peace of God, just like the grace of God, is a spiritual substance that causes things to go well and prosperously. Jesus told his apostles that when they go to a community and find a house that is worthy, their peace can rest upon that house, but if the house is not worthy, their peace will come back to them (see Matthew 10:13).

We see in Philippians 4:6 that when we pray, this substance called the peace of God will mount guard in hearts.

The knowledge of God does not just multiply grace, it also multiplies peace. Because of this peace, everything in your life will work according to God's plan. You will prosper in all that you do and be fruitful in every good work.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you know him more. The fulfillment of your Divine destiny depends on this.

Prayer: Lord, give me a hunger and thirst for you that would not go away. Help me give myself to disciplines that would help me know you more this year. Amen.

Daniel 11:32 (KJV) And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

Sandra was now a threat to the witches in her neighborhood because she was now getting spiritually strong. The reason for this strength was her growing knowledge of the Lord.

Some of the women in the neighborhood who used to be very nice to her all of a sudden became unpleasant and rude. One of them told her to her face that "shouldn't you be worried that you are not yet married at your age?"

They observed that Sandra was growing in the knowledge of the Lord and they wanted to slow her down by making her depressed and frustrated. But their plan did not work because the Lord told her she would be entering a relationship very soon and getting married soon. If they were able to succeed to get her into depression, they would have been able to slow down her growth and growing strength.

The devil understands that the more you spend time with the Lord, the more you will know Him, and you will be more powerful as a result. He will do everything to detract and discourage you from the place of fellowship. We should not be unaware of the devices of the devil.

Go into today remembering that no matter what happens, your time of fellowship with the Lord should not be compromised. Don't let the devil discourage you through circumstances or people who are under his control.

Prayer: Lord, help me give myself consistently to disciplines that will help me grow in my knowledge of you. Amen.
