The Body

Broadcast 4018
Click here for the audio version:
Ephesians 2:6-7(NLT) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Kemi was spiritually alive when she left Kaduna and moved to Lagos. After staying in Lagos for about four months, she was practically dead spiritually. She had gone back to her old ways of sin and could not understand why she didn’t have the power she once had to live a holy life.

The reason Kemi fell so far from grace was because she neglected the fellowship of brethren when she moved to Lagos. While she was in Kaduna, she grew exceedingly because she was in the midst of brethren who were spiritually alive, and they enjoyed sound fellowship and brotherly love. Even though Kemi was now attending a mega church in Lagos, she did not have real Christian fellowship there. She did not even know any of her church members personally.

What makes us partakers of the salvation that Christ brought is because we became members of His body when we believed. All the benefits of being a Christian are there because we are included in Christ as members of His body which is the Church. We share in everything that happened to Christ because we were included in Him. But not as individuals, we were included as His body- together with other brethren.

Many people try to downplay the body life for personal life and relationship with the Lord, but the truth is if a person is growing in His personal walk with the Lord, this growth will produce an unquenchable hunger for true fellowship with His brethren.

Go into today knowing that God did not plan for you to be a lone ranger. His desire is for you to be part of a community of His Children in your locality.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to give you true Christian fellowship. Amen.

The Meek and His Inheritance

Broadcast 4016
Click here for the audio version:
Matthew 5:5 (KJV) Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

Darlene recently found out that Angela a friend of hers in the church choir was spreading false rumors about her. In fact, she would have not believed it if she had not heard Angela speaking to Mary in the church bathroom. Unbeknownst to them, she had quietly walked in as they were talking even though Angela had tried to quickly change the topic. Darlene caught the beginning part of the gist. She was extremely hurt and was prepared to never speak to either of them again, especially Angela. But when she got home that afternoon, she remembered the memory verse from the Sunday school, “blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” All of a sudden, she broke down in tears and began to pray for God’s grace to let go of this offense and forgive Angela and Mary.

Although the way of meekness oftentimes can be painful, it is important to know that there is a hidden glory in offenses. According to 1 Corinthians 4:17, “Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” In other words, meekness has its rewards in the kingdom of God. There is a future glory ahead of the meek in the age to come. When we decide to let go and let God, we not only entrust ourselves to God but we are setting ourselves to reap eternal rewards promised by our Lord himself. He said the meek will inherit the earth. This inheritance is not for this present age, but the age to come where God has promised that those who endure suffering on his account will reign with him (2 Timothy 2:12).

It is important to keep your eyes on the prize if you want to pursue meekness. We are in this world but not of this world. We may lose the fight now to win eternally and ultimately lay hold of our inheritance. Let’s pray for God to rid us of all offenses and unforgiveness so that we may walk in meekness, a key to authority and stature in the age to come.

No justification for divorce 1

Broadcast 4016
Click here for the audio version:
Matthew 5:32 (KJV), “But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.”
There has been an ongoing debate on the topic of divorce among God's people. Even in Jesus’ day, there were two views by two notable Rabbis, Hillel and Shammai who both agreed that divorce was lawful, but differed on the acceptable justification for it. It was this argument that was used to tempt Jesus by the Pharisees who asked, “Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?” (see Matthew 19:3).

Jesus responded, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Matthew 19:6-7 KJV). Not satisfied, they again asked, “Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?” (Matthew 19:7-8 KJV). To this Jesus answered, “Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so”. (Matthew 19:8-9 KJV).

Jesus however continued and said, “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.” Matthew 19:9 KJV.

This last response of Jesus Christ, “except it be for fornication” has been the reason advanced by many as the justification for divorce. Others however consider abuse in marriage and abandonment as other reasons. But, are these reasons justifiable biblically?

Go into today determined to pattern your marriage according to God’s Word and original intent.

Prayer: Commit your marriage to God and ask Him to help you build your home according to His will.

The new Covenant 2

Broadcast 4015
Click here for the audio version:

Hebrews 10:16 (NET) “This is the covenant that I will establish with them after those days, says the Lord. I will put my laws on their hearts and I will inscribe them on their minds,”

Sandra felt like she was beyond repair. Growing up in church, she knew all about guilt and shame because of the mistakes she made. Despite once leading the choir, she never really grasped what it meant to trust Jesus for salvation. She thought it was all about trying hard and being strong-willed.

It wasn't until Sandra turned 30 that her roommate shared the gospel with her on her birthday. Suddenly, she realized she had never truly put her faith in Jesus for salvation.

But when she finally did, something incredible happened. God transformed her from the inside out. He wrote His laws on her heart and mind. Her desires and attitudes began to change. Her secret? It was her unwavering faith in Jesus as her Savior. She knew that as long as Jesus was alive, she was safe. She trusted Him completely and obeyed Him absolutely.

Yet, it wasn't just her faith that changed her. It was also God's promise in the new covenant. God had committed to transforming her, and He kept His word.

Remember this today: If you trust Jesus for your salvation, you're part of a covenant with God. And God's promise in that covenant is to change you from the inside out, making you more like Him.

Thanks to the new covenant, even those born with a sinful nature can be transformed into saints with God's holy nature. It's all about putting your faith in Jesus. He'll do the rest.

Learning Meekness

Broadcast 4014
Click here for the audio version:

Matthew 5:5 says, "Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth."

What is your first reaction when someone offends you or does something justifiably wrong to you? Do you instantly respond and give them a piece of your mind? How about when your colleague takes credit and receives recognition for your work? Do you report them immediately to your boss with hopes to prove that you are not a pushover?

For many of us, these are our natural responses and reactions to such circumstances. However, as disciples of Jesus, we are called to the way of meekness. Instead of fighting for our rights and entitlements, we are told to let God fight for us. This is completely countercultural in a world where we are constantly being told to stand up for ourselves. Indeed, the world doesn’t value meekness at all and it cannot because it is the way of the kingdom of God.

Jesus himself demonstrated this principle in 1 Peter 2:23, “when they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”

You see, meekness is not just about subjecting yourself to undue punishment and suffering. It is about surrendering yourself to the sovereignty of God and entrusting your life completely into His hands. When you practice meekness then, you are demonstrating your complete and total trust in God by refusing to take matters into your own hands.

Your first response then when are you confronted with unjust offenses and wrongs should not be an impulsive reaction and retaliation even though it may come naturally. Let us instead learn to trust God with every aspect of our lives.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me the grace to live my life in meekness. Amen.

Pray lest you enter into temptation

Broadcast 4013
Click here for the audio version:
Proverbs 24:10 (KJV) says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy   strength is small.”

Fred was told that reading was the key to passing his exams. So, he read diligently but still failed. Being a child, he turned to his mother, exclaiming, "You lied, Mom! You said I'd pass if I read my books. I read them all, but I failed!" His mother, with a gentle smile, asked him how he read. Fred admitted he didn't understand much of it.

Many Christians have heard Jesus' words, "Pray lest you enter into temptation" (Mark 14:38), and they prayed. But when faced with temptation, they fell. Like Fred, they wonder why.

Here's the thing: you shouldn't stop praying until you get an answer from God, just like Fred shouldn't have stopped reading until he understood his books.

But many Christians pray haphazardly. They pray until they feel like stopping, instead of letting answers guide their prayer time.

God says, "I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth."

So, decide today: never stop praying until you're stronger than your adversities and empowered to resist temptation.

Fruit of the Spirit 12

Broadcast 4012
Click here for the audio version:

Galatians 5:22-23 (NET) reads, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Growing up, Lanre was shy and awkward. Because of this, he suffered at the hands of bullies. And because he did not know how to express himself as well and as intelligently as his mind processed things, he got angry very easily and found it difficult to control himself when he got angry. After believing in the Lord Jesus, anger and lack of self-control when angry were the reasons his first relationship failed and he did not get married to Tricia.

After walking with the Lord for some time, it became clear to him that his lack of self-control was hindering him from walking in higher dimensions of the grace of God for him. This was when he started taking this matter more seriously. As soon as he acknowledged his fault, his healing started. Before, he would blame the person who offended him for the way he could not control himself when he got angry. But the moment he acknowledged that he had a problem and asked the Lord to help him, his healing began.

If we must walk in the divine nature, just like God, we must be slow to anger and self-controlled even when we get angry.

Go into today remembering that you have the divine nature and the power to put your emotions under control.

Deuteronomy 2:24 (KJV) “Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.”

John was just a kid when he started having dreams of greatness. At first, he shrugged them off, but they kept coming. Eventually, he embraced the idea that he was destined for wealth and success. And for a while, things looked bright - he excelled in school, topping his department. But then, life took a sharp turn downhill.

In today’s passage, God promised land to Israel, but they had to fight for it.

Similarly, John had a glimpse of God's plan for his life, but he didn't realize it would be a battle to get there.

Don't expect God's promises to come easy. If you want to see them fulfilled, get ready to fight through faith and prayer (See Ephesians 6:12,18).

Ask God to equip you for the battle ahead, so you can overcome every obstacle in your path (Psalm 18:34).

Galatians 5:22-23 (NET) reads, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Because of the way Lanre was raised, he was very harsh and brash. He was only nice to people he wanted to impress or get something from. He didn't know any other way of doing things because that was the way he was brought up.

After receiving the Lord Jesus and allowing His word to change the way he lives, he found that Jesus was not pleased with the way he behaved.

A gentle person is kind, tender, and mild-mannered. He treats people with the level of kindness and tenderness he would expect from people. God is gentle and humble. So should we because we have received His divine nature and should walk in it.

Go into today remembering that God does not want you to be harsh and cruel. He wants you to treat people the way you would want to be treated, even those who are in the position of serving you.

How to Overcome Sin

Broadcast 4009
Click here for the audio version:
John 8:31-32 (KJV) reads, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Johnny discovered that a particular sin would not go away after much confession and prayer, so he decided to study the life of Jesus since he knew that Jesus never sinned; he wanted to know how Jesus did it. During his study, he discovered that the reason Jesus never sinned was because he always obeyed his Father. After his discovery, he made up his mind to always obey every instruction God gives him and also decided to spend his time praying for grace to obey God instead of praying to overcome that particular sin.

Today, many Christians like Johnny have a sin that they struggle with. They want to be free and have tried all that they could but are not successful, so they have decided to live with it and keep asking for forgiveness whenever they indulge in it.

If you want to be free, study the word of God to know his commandments and make up your mind to obey them. Secondly, make sure you obey the personal instructions that God gives you. The more you are able to obey God, the freer from sin you become.

Go into today knowing that freedom from sin does not come by trying to overcome sin. Rather, it comes by obeying God’s instructions. It is only those who are submitted to God that have the power to resist the devil (James 4:7). The more submitted you are, the more powerful you become.

Prayer: Father, please give me the power to obey you in all things in Jesus’ name, amen!

You Are God’s Strategy

Broadcast 4008
Click here for the audio version:
Jeremiah 51:20 (KJV) reads, “Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms.”
A nation was ravaged for many years by enemy forces. After every effort by the citizens to secure the land and break free from their oppressors failed, they gave in to servitude while others sought refuge in caves and holes. Gideon was one of such who hid in caves. Being a courageous man, he visited the harvest field to hide some food before their enemies invaded. It was in one of such occasions that he had an angelic visitation; the Lord wanted to help them, and Gideon was his man. “The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valor,” said the angel. Gideon went on to deliver the land after the encounter.

God created the earth and gave its control to man (Genesis 1:26, 28; Psalm 115:16). Man afterward became God’s hands and feet on the earth. If God must act on the earth, it has to be through a man. If he cannot find a man, he cannot act on the earth. So, he is always seeking for men; he is still asking the question, “whom shall we send?” (Isaiah 6:8).

Just like the angel said to Gideon, God is saying, “I am with you, thou mighty man of valour.” If you will heed God’s instructions to you going forward, you also will become a deliverer.

Go into today knowing that God has hope in you; he needs you to be his man on earth so he can do great and mighty things through you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I avail myself for your use

The New Covenant

Click here for the audio version:
Hebrews 10:16 (NET) reads, “This is the covenant that I will establish with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts and I will inscribe them on their minds.”

Every believer in Christ Jesus should be a partaker of the new covenant. The new covenant is a better Covenant with better promises. Just like with every other Covenant with God, the New Testament is activated by faith. Faith produces faithfulness and obedience.

In the New Covenant, God promises to write His laws in our hearts and minds. This means God will implant His own nature within us. He is transforming us into His image and likeness. God does not just want to give us things in the New Covenant; He wants to make us into people who are like Him. When this happens, we will walk in the realm and reality of God and will inherit all things(Rev 21:7).

Because this is a Covenant, you have a part to play. You have to let God write His laws in your heart and mind by giving yourself to the ministry of the word and prayer. You have to be deliberate and intentional about allowing the divine nature to replace the Adamic nature that you were born with.

God Keeps His Covenants II

Broadcast 4006
Click here for the audio version:
Genesis 15:18 (NET) reads, "That day the Lord made a covenant with Abram: 'To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates River.'"
Mr. Clement had a very successful business with a track record of entering very successful contracts and deals. When he started grooming his first son to take over the business, one of the most important lessons he taught him was how to determine the companies and people he could enter serious business deals, contracts, and agreements with. He said if a man does not keep to time and does not keep his words, he will most likely not keep to the terms of your contracts. He said if a man is patently unfaithful to his wife, he will not be faithful to your contract with him. No wise person enters a serious contract/Covenant with an unfaithful party.

The second Covenant we see in scripture is the covenant God made with Abraham. By this time, Abraham had charted a trajectory of life that demonstrated complete faith and faithfulness. This faith manifested in the fact that Abraham obeyed every command and requirement of God. Every Covenant that God ever had with people always had a requirement of faith and faithfulness on their part. And those who will continue to enjoy the covenant of Abraham, for example, must have the faith of Abraham.

Go into today remembering that God does not activate His Covenants with unfaithful people. Faith and faithfulness are like two sides of the same coin.

If You Have Life, You Have Hope

Broadcast 4005
Click here for the audio version:

Psalm 139:14 (KJV) reads, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

Job was known as a righteous man in his days. It was God who called the attention of Satan to this upright man, saying, “Have you considered my servant Job?” Satan’s response was revealing, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't you made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” God granted Satan’s request, and he wreaked terrible damages on Job, some of which were irreparable.

After a while, God again drew Satan’s attention to Job’s uprightness. Of note was Satan’s response, “Skin for skin, yes, all that a man has will he give for his life. But put forth your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.” God again granted his request but with restraint, “save his life.” Job’s life was his most precious commodity, and God would not allow Satan access to it. Job passed the test; he refused to deny God, and all that he lost were eventually restored.

If everything around a person were to be placed on a scale of preference, their life would be the topmost. God values our lives so much that He will not allow Satan to touch it, even when He allows him to tempt and try us. If God had allowed Satan, he would have killed you. You are alive because God restrained him.

Go into today thanking the Lord for being alive despite all that you may have lost. Because you are alive, you can be restored.

God Keeps His Covenants

Broadcast 4004

Numbers 23:19 (NET) reads, "God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it happen?"
The first time we see the word Covenant in the Bible was in Genesis 6:18 where God instructed Noah to embark on the project of building a gigantic vessel or ark for the preservation of his family and the animals. That was a project that altered the trajectory of Noah's life. It took Noah over 100 years to build that ark. Now, you need to realize that Noah was doing this against all odds. He was building an ark to preserve his family from a flood. A flood was something that had never happened on Earth before; in fact, it had never rained on Earth before this time. Building the ark was a sacrifice and a pure act of faith and obedience.

A covenant is an agreement or contract between two parties. Both parties have their defined roles, and integrity demands that when one party fulfills his role, the other party must fulfill their corresponding role as prescribed by the contract. A covenant is as useful as the integrity of those entering it.

When God enters a covenant with people, it means they have their part to play, and He has His. If God says He will do something, you can be sure He will because He keeps His word. As long as Noah remained in faith and obeyed God [by building the ark, etc.], God was committed to preserving him, his family, and the animals with him.

There are a number of Covenants mentioned in scripture. For example, the old Covenant demanded that the people of Israel lived under the law, and God would consequently be their God and father, protect and provide for them.

Go into today remembering that God is a covenant-keeping God because He is faithful and true – a Person of integrity.

The Best Use of the Human Will

Broadcast 4003
Click here for the audio version:

Luke 18:28 (KJV) reads, “Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.”

God created the heavens and the earth, and on the sixth day, He made man. He also planted a garden for them where they were to have all their needs met. Although He gave them control over the garden, He warned them to stay away from one thing: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why would God do this? He did it because He wanted them to exercise their power of choice; He wanted them to obey Him willingly. Adam and Eve, by their will, chose to disobey God, and death entered our world as a result.

Just like Adam and Eve, every person—male or female—will have to choose whom they will obey. Every new day that you see is another opportunity to decide whether you will choose and obey God or not.

Many, like Adam and Eve, have chosen to disobey God. They did this when they decided to disobey God’s instructions. When God came beckoning to them through His Son Jesus Christ, they turned Him down, and by doing so, they chose the path of death.

Go into today knowing that the best way to use your will is to use it to choose the will of God, just like Jesus’ disciples did when they left all and followed Jesus in today’s passage.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I choose to follow You. Please grant me the grace to keep choosing You. Amen!

1 John 2:3 (NET) Now by this we know that we have come to know God: if we keep his commandments.

Orji wondered why he would pray, fast, and still struggle to cast out a demon that Emaka wouldn’t even need to strain his voice to cast out. He came to realize that the reason for his little spiritual authority was because he wasn’t properly aligned to Christ's authority.

When you read a Bible verse like today's main text, you may wonder why in the New Testament, so much emphasis is still made on commandments. 'Are we not now under grace and no more under the law?' Yes, we are under grace, but being under grace does not mean being lawless. It means the grace of God empowers us to obey God's law that He has now written upon our hearts because of the new covenant (see Heb 10:16). What this means is that a Christian is someone who is under God's authority. He is not a 'free moral agent' but is under the absolute authority of the Lord Jesus.

Any man who is not living under authority has no spiritual right to exert authority. It may look as if the devil still has authority, but in reality, he has authority over only the members of his household.  All authority has been given to our Lord Jesus Christ. He has the absolute authority over the heavens and over the earth. If you must exert spiritual authority, that authority must be the same authority that the Lord has. You cannot exert this authority if you are not operating under it. This is the real reason why demons do not respect some Christians. Demons do not respect people who have not actively aligned with the only spiritual authority that can cast them out. You align with this authority by living your life under the authority of Christ.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you properly align under His authority (read 1 Pet 5:6).

Sin is a snare

Broadcast 4001

Jeremiah 20:10 (KJV) “For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.”

In 1 Chronicles 21, we see how Satan stirred David to conduct a census of the children of Israel, which incurred God's wrath and brought destruction upon the nation. One may ask, what is sinful about conducting a census that should get God so angry? The answer is simple; David disobeyed God. Why? Because Satan provoked him to do so.

Just as Satan provoked David to disobedience, what is provoking you? Is it pressure from your boss, conflicts with your spouse, your pastor's expectations, or challenging circumstances in your life? Be aware that Satan often uses whatever or whomever stirs you to disobey God, intending to ensnare you.

Do not be deceived by Satan's tactics. Instead, submit yourself to God and resist him. By doing so, he will flee from you (James 4:7), and the temptation that loomed like an insurmountable mountain will crumble before your eyes.

Remember, every sin is a snare aimed at making you an enemy of God, leading to your destruction.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to always submit to You, enabling me to steadfastly resist the devil. Amen.

The Fruit of the Spirit 10: Faithfulness

Broadcast 4000
Click here for the audio version:

Galatians 5:22 (NET) reads, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness."

Lanre had a reputation for being very honest and faithful. His colleagues called him "pastor" because they had observed that he was truly a man of integrity.

Lanre had a prayer schedule that he never missed, even when it was not convenient. One night while he was praying, the Spirit of the Lord ministered to him and told him he was going to be the next managing director of his organization. He knew he had an angelic visitation that night, so even though it didn't make sense for him to believe that he could be managing director, he believed the word that came to him. True to the word of the Lord, 2 years after he had that angelic visitation, he was appointed as the managing director.

Lanre always wondered if he would have received the miraculous promotion if he had missed his prayer appointment that day. That day he had the angelic visitation, it was particularly difficult for him to keep his prayer appointment because he had a cold and was feeling sick. But because he now had a spirit of faithfulness, he went to pray in spite of the way he felt.

Many have missed out on their season of visitation because of unfaithfulness.

Go into today asking the Lord to increase in you His nature of faithfulness. Renounce every way of dishonesty and unfaithfulness.

The Fruit of the Spirit 9: Faithfulness

Broadcast 3999
Click here for the audio version:
Galatians 5:22 (NET) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
Before Lanre gave his life to Christ, he was not a very honest person. When he was on campus, he had two girlfriends who didn't know each other. They both believed he was their one and only. His word meant nothing to him. He only said the truth when it was convenient. But he never considered himself to be an unfaithful person.

After believing in the Lord Jesus and submitting to discipleship, he realized he could not continue in the old nature of sin and unfaithfulness. The more he understood the divine nature and sought to walk in it, the more repulsive lying and unfaithfulness were to him.

Because of this, his faith was strong, and his pursuit of the knowledge of God was very fruitful.

There are many believers whose spiritual endeavors are fruitless because they are faithless. An unfaithful person cannot be a faith-full person. Faith and faithfulness cannot be separated. Faith always produces faithfulness. Abraham was faithful to God because he had faith in God.

Go into today remembering that bearing the fruit of the Spirit means walking in the nature and character of God. God is faithful and so must we.

Grow in grace

Broadcast 3998
Click here for the audio version:

2 Peter 3:18 (KJV) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Our salvation is by Grace from start to finish. see Eph 2:8-9. What Salvation affords us is access to Grace. Rom 5:2 KJV says '...we have access by faith into this grace...' . We are, however, supposed to grow in that Grace as we read in our main text. One major way we grow in grace is through knowledge. 2 Pet 1:2 says 'Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord'.

It is important that we define the kind of knowledge that multiplies our experience in the grace of Christ Jesus. It is not the 'knowledge about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ' but 'knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ'. You may know so much about someone and yet not know the person at all.

Our knowledge of Christ is our intimacy with Him. 2 Cor 3:8 says we are being transformed when we behold His glory with an open face. This can only be a personal experience. You cannot behold Christ through someone else's face or lens. Even when we hear messages, we need to internalize them. That way, our knowledge of Christ is personal and unique.

How have you grown in your knowledge of Christ? What are your unique landmarks in your walk with Him? He longs to release special strengths into your spirit through those personal moments.

Go into the day, seeking to touch the heart of Jesus in study, prayer, or in relating with other people.

Overcoming a guilty conscience 3

Broadcast 3997
Click here for the audio version:
Hebrews 10:22-23 (NIV) let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
What a guilty conscience takes away from you is boldness and assurance. When a person has a guilty conscience, he cannot deal with God in boldness. And this will greatly hinder the flow of God's grace in his life.

We have seen previously that one way to overcome a guilty conscience is by convincing your conscience (that you are a child of God) in God's presence. 1 John 3:18-20 [NET] says: Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth. 19 And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence.

We have previously seen that the way to convince your conscience is by recognizing the fruit of God's seed in your heart, which manifests in acts of love that your life has been able to produce. This is worthy of note because it is only those who have been fathered by God that can produce such love that does not have the selfish motive (see 1 John 4:7). If the devil has been trying to deceive you to think you are not truly born of God, and because of this, your conscience has been condemning you in God's presence, the way to overcome this is by using your practical fruits of love as proof that you have been indeed fathered by God.

This is why for us Christians, Love is a commandment we must obey. This commandment is not grievous but is for our spiritual benefit.

As you go into today, remember that those who walk in the Light (by walking in love) are the ones who will receive automatic cleansing by the blood of Jesus (see 1 John 1:9).

Ask the Lord to help you walk in practical love.

Overcoming a Guilty Conscience 2

Broadcast 3996
Click here for the audio version:

1 John 3:18-20 (NET) Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth. And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence, that if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.

Because of some mistakes Sandra had made in the past, she had a conscience that was always condemning her. After being a Christian for more than four years, she would still sometimes feel that she is not truly born again. She got free from this when she could prove to herself that she was now indeed a child of God.

Love is divine and anyone that walks in love does so because He is born of God and knows God (read 1 John 4:7-8). We have seen on this platform some time ago that the kind of love proceeding from God that manifests in believers is the original true love. This love does not expect anything in return for good deeds. It is not motivated

If you read today's Bible text carefully, you will see that we sometimes need to convince our consciences in God's presence concerning who we are. One sure tool we need to do this is having the evidence of God's love shed abroad in our hearts. This could only happen because God has accepted us as His sons. And the strongest proof of this is that we have the ability to walk in love toward fellow Christians and our neighbors.1 John 1:9 tells us that if we walk in the light (by walking in love), the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Unrighteousness is that proclivity in the soul to always go the wrong way.

Go into today knowing that the blood of Jesus cleanses God's Children from guilty consciences (Heb 10:22). Love is the greatest sign that we have been fathered by God.

Overcoming a Guilty Conscience 1

Broadcast 3995
Click here for the audio version:
1 John 3:21-22 (NET) Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God, 22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing to him.

There was a sin Ted committed, and even though he 'repented', he still felt guilty.
Because of the way his conscience kept condemning him, it affected his confidence in the place of prayer. Being a spiritually wise Christian, Ted knew he had to get rid of this guilt fast. He did everything to end his feeling of condemnation, but the feeling did not go away. He was later led to confess what he had done to another brother. That was how he received his freedom from a guilty conscience.

This topic of 'guilty conscience' is very important for us to examine because guilt is Satan's chief weapon hindering Christians from accessing God's grace.

No one can wish away a guilty conscience. Many have tried to brainwash themselves using some superfluous teachings about grace, but if they are truthful to themselves, they would admit that they still bear guilt for sins committed. In fact, If you don’t feel anything when you commit a sin, you are not yet a child of God.

1 John 1:8 [NET] says "If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us".

Know that if you are in Christ, your guilt does not affect the way God sees you, God is bigger than that (see 1 John 3:20). The problem is with us. A guilty conscience always hinders us from accessing God's throne of grace, and that is a big problem.

We shall further examine this topic next time.
Go into today knowing that the blood of Jesus is strong enough to cleanse every guilt. Ask the Lord for grace to walk above sin and guilt.

Overcoming lawlessness

Broadcast 3994
Click here for the audio version:

1 John 3:6 (AMP) No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him — deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him]

Dre realized that because of the robust fellowship he constantly had with the Holy Spirit, all his weaknesses and besetting sins were no longer an issue. But he realized that Satan did everything to get him out of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He realized that the devil's most potent tool was guilt. But he knew better, he knew that even when his conscience tried to condemn him, the Holy Spirit was greater than his conscience and would never leave him.

One big mistake many Christians make is that they think being filled with the Holy Spirit is something that should happen once in a while. Many Christians are victims of sins and spiritual weakness because they are hardly filled with the Spirit. They have no experience of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. They do not realize that the Holy Spirit was sent to be their comforter, counselor, teacher, helper, etc. These are intimate functions that we enjoy only when we are in constant fellowship with Him.

One thing you will understand when dealing with the Holy Spirit is His authority and government over you. You will know this intuitively, and you will discover that walking in close fellowship with Him removes the tendency of lawlessness in your heart. You can no longer do just anything or say anything. Your life becomes streamlined and narrowed to His will and government. This is what the narrow way really means.

As you go into today, do not forget that Christ dwells in you by His Spirit, and you dwell in Christ by allowing His word and will control you. This is the secret to a victorious winning life.

Thank the Lord for the grace to have fellowship with Him.

Understanding lawlessness

Broadcast 3993
Click here for the audio version:

1 John 3:4 (NET) Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; indeed, sin is lawlessness.

The reason why the physical phenomenon called gravity is rightfully called 'the law of gravity' is because it is a constant phenomenon guiding the physical order of things. Without the existence of gravity, there wouldn’t be the space-time continuum, and life on Earth would be physically impossible.

Anyone who chooses to violate the law of gravity does so at his own peril. He is lawless in the physical context. Such a person would most likely suffer physical death or great harm. A good example is if someone chooses to jump out of a flying aircraft without wearing a parachute.

There is a law guiding life in the absolute[spirit] realm too. Sin is a violation of this law of life.

If a Christian chooses to live in sin, he is like the person who jumps out of a flying aircraft. Even though by the superior divine law of life in Christ Jesus, he received the power to overcome the (spiritually natural) law of sin and death, if he chooses to live in sin again, he is transgressing the law of life and falling out to be a victim of the law of sin and death again.

In the new covenant, God does not just instruct us to be righteous; He empowers us to walk righteously. He empowers us to be Holy by giving us the Holy Spirit. We take advantage of God's empowerment by yielding to the Holy Spirit and guiding our lives according to God's word.

Go into today determined to yield to the Holy Spirit and live your life according to God's word. Yielding to the Holy Spirit becomes possible when you are conscious of His presence continually.

Ask the Father to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to help you to always be conscious of the Holy Spirit's presence within you.

Repentance

Broadcast 3992
Click here for the audio version:

Acts 3:19 (KJV) Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…
Mrs. Anderson was so sickened by what she called 'modern Christianity' that she was now convinced the word 'modern' had no good connotation. She'd had experiences with many professing Christians who had no integrity. There was one man who she found to be completely morally bankrupt. She was shocked to later find out that this man was a deacon in a church. It got to a point that it was hard for Mrs. Anderson to believe that anyone who recently became born again was truly saved.

Today, there are many professing Christians who have no Christian character; they only have the language and the motions. But also know that every day, there are people who are genuinely becoming born again.

I have noticed that one thing missing in 'today's generation' of Christians is true repentance. It appears many Christians have accepted a gospel that excludes repentance of sins. They only preach that people should believe, and they fail to realize that repentance is a sign of true faith in Christ Jesus. A man who has not repented from his sin would go back to his sins as soon as he finds the opportunity. Sin is the reason Satan has power over people. Jesus came to save us from our sins (see Matthew 1:21).

Sometimes, true repentance may also involve making restitution. We shall discuss this next time.

As you go into today, remember that repentance is a sign of true faith in Christ Jesus. When a person repents, he acknowledges his sins and turns away from them.

Prayer: thank the Lord for making you a Christian. Ask the Lord to make you an example to others.

Prayer watch 2

Broadcast 3991
Click here for the audio version:

Ephesians 6:8 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

If our prayer time is not effective, we have only wasted the time. Therefore, after you have decided on a definite prayer time and begun praying, you must also watch in your prayer.

Not only is the devil fighting to rob you of your time for prayer, he also wants to rob your prayers of effectiveness. You may have observed that, unlike ordinary times, during prayer times, your thoughts begin to wander. Also, you can have lengthy conversations for hours with friends and colleagues but in prayers, you just may not feel the flow, and after a few minutes, you may be so exhausted and may fall asleep.

It is the enemy hindering you from praying. He knows the power of prayer and wants to prevent you from wielding that power. He wants to deny you that wonderful fellowship you can enjoy with God through prayers and therefore steal your joy. Don't let him, it is his job description to steal, kill, and destroy (see John 10:10), and the flesh is his biggest ally.

Many lives have been lost from our lack of prayers and our idleness in it. All who desire to be intercessors and to make progress in their spiritual life must make time for prayers and also must watch to ensure that their prayer time is effective.

As you go into today, do not give in to wandering, discouraging, and doubting thoughts that pop up during your prayer time. And do not take it as natural to feel weak at the time of prayer. Take your stand and pray.

Confession: henceforth, my prayers spring from the help of the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen

Prayer Watch 1

Broadcast 3990
Click here for the audio version:

Ephesians 6:8 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Prayer is of great necessity for every believer. The devil will do everything to see that we lag in prayer. This is the reason why you can find the time to do everything that is important but surprisingly do not find time for prayers. Many Christians even have ample time for their personal Bible study and service in their local churches as workers, but yet do not find time for prayer. One key strategy of the enemy against prayers is to rob believers of their time for prayers and hence hinder them from praying.

To watch means to keep the eyes fixed on, to pay attention to, to consider carefully, to keep under observation, and to monitor. God says watch thereunto, speaking in reference to prayer. This means for us to keep a watch on our prayers. Ensure that your prayer happens. God in His wisdom knows that this would be a major battleground for the enemy, therefore he says 'Watch! Always be on the alert to guard against every robbery of your prayer time. Do not wait until leisure to pray, because if you have not jealously guarded your prayer time, the opportunity for prayers during leisure will never come.

Do not be ignorant of the devil’s devices (2 Cor 2:11). He purposely creates all manner of obstacles to keep you from praying. To overcome this, you must set aside a special period, an appointed time for your prayer, or else you will have no time for prayer.
Make the time to pray, that's the first step in victory over prayerlessness.

Today, set a specific time for your daily prayer and fellowship with God.

Prayer: Quicken me O God and I will call upon your name. Pour upon me the Spirit of grace and supplication. Give me the burning zeal and power to pray in Jesus' name. Amen!

God's great love

Broadcast 3989
Click here for the audio version: https://streamglobe.org/aud3989
1 John 3:1 [NET] (See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called God’s children - and indeed we are! For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know him.

When Mr. Andre visited the city orphanage for the first time, his heart was broken to see the number of children whose parents had rejected them. While Mr. Adre was in the orphanage, two of the little children came to him and would not let him go. He also couldn’t let them go, he fell in love with them. He decided he was going to adopt them and make them his children. This meant that they were going to inherit his great fortune; they were now heirs to the greatest fortune in that entire country.

The love that God has for you in saving you and adopting you is greater than what words can describe. Being children of God and fellow heirs with Christ Jesus means we get to share in ownership of the entire universe (see Rom 8:17a, 32). This is really too great to imagine, and this is the reason the devil would do anything to hinder us from accessing this reality by faith and knowledge.

What do we do in response to this great undeserved love lavished on us by God. We choose to love Him and serve Him with our lives.

Go into today renewing your decision to honor and serve God with your life. This is the least you can do in appreciation of His great love.

Ask the Lord to help you see things clearly and know who you really are as His child.
