Sin is a snare

Jeremiah 20:10 (KJV) “For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.”

In 1 Chronicles 21, we see how Satan stirred David to conduct a census of the children of Israel, which incurred God's wrath and brought destruction upon the nation. One may ask, what is sinful about conducting a census that should get God so angry? The answer is simple; David disobeyed God. Why? Because Satan provoked him to do so.

Just as Satan provoked David to disobedience, what is provoking you? Is it pressure from your boss, conflicts with your spouse, your pastor's expectations, or challenging circumstances in your life? Be aware that Satan often uses whatever or whomever stirs you to disobey God, intending to ensnare you.

Do not be deceived by Satan's tactics. Instead, submit yourself to God and resist him. By doing so, he will flee from you (James 4:7), and the temptation that loomed like an insurmountable mountain will crumble before your eyes.

Remember, every sin is a snare aimed at making you an enemy of God, leading to your destruction.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to always submit to You, enabling me to steadfastly resist the devil. Amen.
