Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV) For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

According to Merriam Webster Dictionary ‘willful’ is, ‘‘refusing to change your ideas or opinions or to stop doing something’’ while to refuse is, ‘‘to say that you will not accept''.
Sinning willfully, therefore, is refusing to stop sinning even when you know it to be a sin; you continue in it not because you can not stop but because you chose to continue.

Judas Iscariot for instance was not forced to betray Jesus, he did it willfully in the same manner that Adam disobeyed God. His unbridled love of money gave room for the devil to enter him. He was a thief who refused to repent even when a disciple of the Lord Jesus.

In Matt 17:22, Jesus told his disciples that he will be betrayed, yet after hearing this Judas still sought an opportunity to betray him (Matt 26:16). In Matt 26:21, Jesus again said, ‘‘one of you will betray me’’ and in Matt 26:23, Jesus said, “He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me”. But in spite of all these, Judas Iscariot’s mind was made up to betray Jesus. Even at the very last minute, Jesus gave him another opportunity to repent when he said ‘‘Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?" (Luke 22:48), even at this, Judas Iscariot refused to change and would not stop the evil he had planned.

Just like it happened with Adam, Judas was banished out of the presence of God. Unfortunately, unlike Adam, Judas killed himself without repenting.

This is exactly what today’s text is saying: when you willfully refuse all the chances given to you by God to repent, you are walking on the path leading to destruction.
Hebrews 2:3 (KJV) ‘‘How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him”.

Thank God for all the opportunities he has given you to turn away from your sins. Examine yourself and receive the help of the Holy Spirit to willfully turn away from sin today.

Prayer: confess all the sins for which the Holy Spirit has convicted you, forsake them, and receive the forgiveness of God.

Bible Study Outline 16

Topic: The Blessed Man

Bible Text:
Psalms 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

INTRODUCTION
We who have believed in the Lord Jesus and abide in Him are blessed with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places because we are members of the body of Christ (See Ephesians 1:3).
Because our blessings are in heavenly places, it is important for us to know how to walk in such a way that these blessings find expression in our daily lives on the earth. For example, in the same book of Ephesians that informs us that we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings, we see that in order for us to walk in the dimension of the blessing that makes for good days and long life, we are to honor our fathers and mothers (See Ephesians 6:1-2).

This study will help us examine the spiritual posture that makes for the appropriation of the blessing we have in Christ.

DISCUSSIONS
1 Define the blessing(Genesis 1:22,28, Genesis 9:1, Genesis 12:3-4, Galatians 3:13-14)

2 Who receives the blessing? (Galatians 3:9)

3 What are the manifestations of the blessing
( Galatians 3:13-14, Genesis 1:28-29, Psalm 1:1,3, Proverbs 10:22)

4) Can curses be in the life of a believer? If so, why? (2 Kings 25:26-7)

5) How can a believer break free of curses? (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20, 1 Chronicles 4:9-10)

6) How do we walk in the blessing?
6a: Believe in and Abide in the Lord(John 15:5)

6b Be careful to Love and obey the Lord (  Deuteronomy 11:13-15)

6c. Delight in the word of the Lord and Meditate upon it(Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3, Colossians 3:16-17)

6d. Avoiding the wrong Company(2 Corinthians 6:14,17,18, Psalm 1:1-2)

6e. As God's priest, declare the blessing over your life regularly and believe you are blessed (Numbers 6:22-27)

CONCLUSION
Blessings and curses are two opposite forces that work in the lives of people. Anyone in Christ has been blessed. As we walk in the light through the word, we walk in the different manifestations of the blessing

1 Corinthians 2:7 (NKJV) But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory

A certain wealthy man traveled for a very long time. He left a great wonderful estate for his children. This estate was filled with all kinds of great and wonderful machines that were designed to do all kinds of great and wonderful things for his children. But by the time he traveled, his children were still too young so they could not read the manual that would help them utilize the house and machines. They would have to grow up and learn how to read before they can possess their possessions. The wealthy man engaged a teacher who would help his children through this.

There were all kinds of smart domestic animals in the estate, but no matter how smart the animals became, and no matter how old they grew, they could never read and understand the manual because it was written in a language higher than their comprehension.

The wisdom of God is encrypted in a code that only and He and His children can decode. It is only the mature, those schooled by the Spirit of God and transformed into the image of Christ, that will be able to decode this mystery. That is why it is through the Church that the manifold wisdom of God will be shown to principalities(smart animals) and powers (Eph 3:10). It is by this wisdom that we walk in the power and glory of God. It is by this wisdom that things are created and sustained (Prov 3:19, Jer 10:12).

Go into today remembering that as a believer in Christ, it is your heritage to walk in God’s wisdom as you submit to the educational system of the Holy Spirit who is our teacher. Thank God for this privilege.
Prayer: Thank God for the privilege to walk in His wisdom

Hebrews 10:26-27 (KJV)  For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

God placed Adam in a garden (Gen 2:15), gave him instructions (Gen 2:15-17), and later, his wife whom he called woman (Gen 2: 21-24). In the space of time, the devil came to the woman and eventually deceived her so that she disobeyed God and ate the fruit she should not have eaten. Eve gave the forbidden fruit to her husband, he ate it and their eyes were “opened”. They now knew shame and nakedness (Gen 3:7).

The woman ate the fruit first and was normal but as soon as Adam ate the same fruit, they both knew that they were naked and were ashamed. Why did the knowledge of nakedness and shame have to wait for Adam?

1 Timothy 2:14 (KJV)  And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Simply put, Adam sinned willfully not because he was deceived like the woman.
Whenever a child of God continues to sin willfully, he is daring the wrath of God, and like Adam, such a one is in the danger of suffering nakedness, shame and banishment from the presence of God. See Gen 3.22-34.

The more you grow in the knowledge of God, the more you should hate sin because every sin has the same aim of sending you out of God’s presence.
Go into today making up your mind to always hate sin. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you with this.

Prayer: Lord, help me grow in faithfulness to you. Lead me not into temptation, and deliver me from [doing] evil. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NET)  My conversation and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on the power of God.

We saw earlier that one reason Paul chose to abide with the Corinthians in ‘weakness, fear and trembling’(1 Cor 2:3) was because he did everything possible to make them understand that he was an ordinary human being like them, even though he did very many superhuman things. He did this because he wanted them to put their trust in the Lord Jesus alone when they saw the demonstration of the spirit and power of God. If he didn’t do this, there was the possibility that their trust will also be on him because of the superhuman things that he did.

For this same reason, Apostle Paul chose not to preach to them with persuasive words of human wisdom, but with the demonstration of the Spirit and power of God. He was introducing the people to Jesus by showing them His power. They believed in Jesus because they saw proof of His existence and superiority. Even though the Corinthians were in a society where the manifestation of supernatural power was common, the power of God (as it always does) proved itself to be superior, and this brought them to submit to Christ as Lord.

Apart from the fact that the words that Apostle Paul spoke were loaded with power that caused people to be convicted and repent, this power also caused miracles and wonders to happen.
Go into today asking the Lord to fill you with the power and make you an able minister of the new testament.

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (NET) My conversation and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on the power of God.

It is on record that when Billy Graham traveled long hours to preach, he spent most of the time praying. It is also on record that his words were not empty words, but they were packed with the power of God to convict people and draw them to salvation.

Note that Paul said my conversation and preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom. So he preached with words, but the purpose of his words was not primarily to persuade or wow people, it was to transmit spirit and power. Words can transmit knowledge and wisdom and that is the most common application of words. But words can also be used to transmit spirit and life (power). This was the way Jesus used His words when He preached. He said, "the words that I speak to you are spirit and life" (see John 6:63). Those who listened to Jesus said no one ever spoke the way He spoke because the effect of His speaking was different from what they were used to (see John 7:46, Luke 24:32). The way Jesus spoke and preached should also be the way we speak and preach because as the Father sent Him, so has He sent us (John 20:21). We must use our words primarily to transmit spirit and life when preaching.

Go into today knowing that before your words can transmit power, you have to be full of power yourself. Those who walk in this dimension are people of prayer. Prayer is the surest way to make much power available (see James 5:16).

The Kingdom Principle Of Faithfulness

Matthew 25:23 (KJV)  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Larry became really envious of Sunday who had become a great man celebrated by many the world over. He didn't understand why Sunday became so great and not him because they used to be really close when they were much younger, and he saw that he was more intelligent, gifted, and talented than Sunday. Larry always believed that God had destined him for greatness, but he was not experiencing any of it. All he saw were struggles.  He almost fell into what some call a mid-life crisis, because he was already over 45, and it was now looking clear to him that he was not going to be as successful and great as he had always hoped.

As Larry continued to study why people enter into their greatness, he observed a principle that was greatly lacking in his life. He saw that unlike his friend Sunday, he was not a very faithful and reliable person. He was never really consistent at anything that didn't give instant gratification. He observed that God gave greatness, but one of the principles of greatness in the kingdom of God is faithfulness in the little and in another man's work(see Luke 16:10,12). Unlike Sunday, he was too proud to be committed to anything that didn’t originate from him.

There are different ways of attaining greatness in this world, but greatness in the kingdom of God can only be received by those who are faithful in the little. When you have been faithful in little, much will be given to you --that is the kingdom way (see Luke 16:10,12). Many stars have fallen because they shined before they were proven with faithfulness. It is possible to expose yourself and orchestrate your shining, but if your greatness is not from the Lord, you will have to continue to employ your gimmicks to sustain it, and a time would come that you would run out of them.

Go into today remembering that God only promotes those who have shown faithfulness in the little things. Remember also that they that compare themselves with themselves are not wise (2 Corinthians 10:12).

Prayer: Lord, give me grace and wisdom to be faithful and consistent. Amen.

1 Corinthians 2:3-4 (NKJV) I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power

If you read the verses above, they may appear contradictory at first. Apostle Paul talks here about being with the Corinthians in weakness and much trembling, and yet in the same breath, he is talking about demonstrating the spirit and power of God.

‘I was with you in weakness and much trembling’. What does this mean?
This means Paul made it very clear to everyone that he was just an ordinary human being like them. He refused to elevate himself to superhuman status even though he did very many superhuman things.

For example, there was a time some of the people he preached to in Lystra wanted to begin worshiping him as a god (Acts 14:14). He tore his clothes and revealed his flesh just to make it clear to them that he was an ordinary human being like them.
I can imagine that happening to some ministers today. They would sit on the throne offered to them and say something like 'after all, the scriptures say we are gods. We even have more authority than these idols they are claiming we are'. Such ministers can never raise disciples who will grow from being spiritual babes.

Because Paul made it clear to the people that he was a mortal human like them, when they saw the manifestation of the Spirit and power of God, they knew it wasn't Paul working but Christ working through Paul. Therefore, their faith was in Christ and not in Paul.

Go into today remembering that when people have their faith divided between men and God, they will not be able to grow in their knowledge of God. The Corinthian believers remained babes because of this very reason. Some said I am of Paul, others Apollos, etc. (see 1 Cor 3:1-4).

2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 (NET) We ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith flourishes more and more and the love of each one of you all for one another is ever greater. As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring.

Gregory received Jesus Christ as his Lord because he was surrounded by challenges and coming to Jesus truly brought him relief. But as he studied the Bible, he found out that there were men who died because of their faith in Christ. "What is the difference between me and these other persons?" He would ask. Wanting to answer this question, he began to study how the Apostles of Christ lived and he soon discovered that they all had something in common: they all endured persecutions.

If all you know about God are his gifts and benevolence, you certainly are a child. Every responsible adult has responsibilities, most of which would require some level of endurance. An Adult son of God might willingly go through pain not because he cannot escape, but because he knows that his pain will bring relief, succor, and freedom to other children of God.

The way to know that you are growing in faith and love is by measuring how much you are willing and able to give and endure for Christ. It is through men such as this that God’s power is made manifest in its fullness.

If you desire God’s power in its undiluted form, you must be willing to endure anything for Christ (see Romans 8:17, 2 Timothy 2:12).

Meditate on Mark 10:29-31 as you go about your business today.
‘‘And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's. But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

Prayer: I receive grace to grow in faith and love in Jesus’ name, Amen.

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 (NKJV)  But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God--and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-- that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord."

Before Ogundare became a believer, he had gone very far in the occult and was exposed to the depths of darkness.
He had a business competition with a believer and decided to take the battle to the spirit realm so that he would have the upper hand. This was when he discovered that God was eternity’s Holy King, and Christians are indeed God’s children that He watches jealously. What made Ogundare become a believer was his realization that Christians had access to a relationship with this God.

Because he understood spiritual things and spiritual protocols, he wondered how it was possible for ordinary mortal human beings to have a relationship with such a Holy and great God. Even great spirits could not attain to this standard. He understood that relationship with spiritual dignitaries required spiritual wisdom, and he knew that ordinary human beings could never possess the wisdom required to relate to Almighty God. He later discovered that Jesus was made the wisdom of God for us, and it is through Him and because of Him that we have a relationship with God.

There are four major requirements for having a relationship with Almighty God, and they are mentioned in today's Bible verses. They are redemption, sanctification, righteousness, and [spiritual] wisdom. We as sinful mortal beings could never attain these. Christ Jesus has become these for us [who believe in Him], that is why we are able to have a relationship with God. This is the reason why no one who truly knows God can take credit for it. He will always be grateful to Jesus.

Go into today thanking the Lord for being the reason you have a relationship with Almighty God.

Redeemed From All Curses

Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Sesugh believed very strongly that his family was under the influence of a curse. He saw things that made him begin to believe that he too was now beginning to suffer the effect of this curse. When he discussed this situation with his pastor who he had seen demonstrate the great power of God to heal and deliver in the past, his pastor asked him if he had believed in the Lord Jesus. He said he had.

Pastor Dan: Have you been Baptised in the Holy Ghost?

Sesugh: I'm not sure sir.

Pastor Dan: if you're not sure, then you've not been baptized. If you've been baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, you'll be sure.
If you read Galatians 3:13-14, you will see that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by being made a curse for us. He replaced our curses with the unbeatable blessings of Abraham. But the proof that we have received this is that we receive the gift of the Spirit.

After this conversation with his pastor, Sesugh was now eager so to be Baptised in the Holy Spirit and to speak in tongues.

Curses are in different categories and with different degrees of power. The most powerful curses are 'the curse of the law'. These are curses declared by God Himself and enforced by the power of heaven because God and His laws were handled with contempt. Even the curses of the law enforced by heaven are removed by the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, how much more weaker curses of demons and principalities?

The proof that a believer has been delivered from generational and other curses and has received the blessing of Abraham instead is that he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit by faith(see Galatians 3:14). It is through the Holy Spirit that we appropriate our blessings in Christ and walk above the power of curses.

Go into today remembering to celebrate the Holy Ghost within you and pray in the Holy Ghost daily. Praying in the spirit is a sure way to appropriate your daily dose of the blessing. Remember that all things of the Spirit are received and appropriated by faith, so quit believing that you are under any curse and start believing that you have the blessing of Abraham.

Prayer Confession: Because Christ was made a curse for me on the cross, I cannot be under any curse. I walk in the blessings of Abraham, I walk daily in the Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Psalms 91:2 (NKJV) ...My God, in Him I will trust."

After Lekan graduated from the University, it took him some time to get a good job. His uncle was the managing director of a big company, and he expected that his uncle would naturally help him secure a good job. But it just didn't happen. After waiting and waiting for his uncle, he decided to turn to God and pray. This was when he realized that concerning getting a good job, his trust was never really in the Lord, but in his uncle. (See Jer 17:5, Psa 146:3).

Whoever you put your trust in and depend on is the one who is your God. The reason why the Lord warns us against serving Mammon (even more than He warns us against serving the devil) is because it is very easy for a person to trust in his money and lean on the strength of mammon. Rich people fall into this trap more than the poor because they, more than other people, know the power of money. That is why the Lord particularly warns His children who are rich in this world not to put their trust in money (see 1 Tim 6:17).

The way to trust in God is to acknowledge that all good things come from Him and He uses anyone and anything to help you. This means you now see people and systems as only channels that God uses and never as your source of help. You understand that God is your help, with or without them.

Go into today remembering that it is better to trust in the Lord than in any other. People fail, money fails, but they that trust in the Lord will not be moved (see Psalm 125:1).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you trust Him with all your heart.

Ephesians 3:17 (KJV) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love...

After Aarav accepted the Lord Jesus, because he lived in a neighborhood where idol worship was predominant, he felt greatly suffocated spiritually. One of the Hindu priests in his family knew through divination that Aarav was now born again. He appeared to Aarav in his dream and threatened that he would have no peace until he comes back to Hinduism to continue the family legacy of the priesthood. Aarav thought it was merely a dream until he met this priest physically in a family function and he did not answer Aarav's greeting but responded to him by saying "as I said the other day, you would not have peace if you don't renounce that perverted faith and come back to our family tradition".

Aarav became really afraid, and from that day, he started having nightmares of snakes and crocodiles trying to eat him. He was so troubled that he started losing weight terribly. It was his weight loss that his pastor saw and observed that something was wrong. When Aarav told his pastor what was going on, his pastor smiled and told him that he was suffering because he did not realize that Christ was now dwelling in him.

As soon as Aarav understood and accepted the truth that  Christ was dwelling in him, those evil dreams ceased. He was no longer afraid and even his tone of prayer changed from that of weakness to that of authority.

We can see from today's scripture that Christ dwells in us by faith. If you do not know and believe that Christ dwells in you and act according to that knowledge, even though you are a believer, your life would be as if Christ does not dwell in you. The reality of Christ's presence in the heart of a believer is activated by the faith of that believer.

Go into today remembering that Christ dwells in you if you believe in Him. Let this truth guide your life and choices. This is how to live a victorious life.

Prayer Confession: Christ dwells in me. I am an overcomer. I possess my possessions and walk in the blessing In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Praying Through

1 Corinthians 14:15 (KJV) What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

Prior to praying in the Spirit, Daniel would pray only in his understanding. Most times he prayed he would find himself drifting in thought while praying. This situation continued until one day he attended an impartation service and got baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. This spiritual transformation changed his prayer life and made him now able to pray without losing focus, understand and apply the right scriptures in his prayers, and obtain tremendous answers to his prayers (including for things he couldn't remember asking for).

Praying through can be simply put as effective communication with God. However, due to the inherent infirmity of the flesh and the human mind, there's always that tendency for it to be burdened, afflicted, or distracted by either men or the devil, leading to voided prayers.

God primarily communicates with us by the spirit and not by the flesh. Since our mind's ability to grasp the things of the Spirit is limited, the best way for us to pray through and obtain results is for us to pray in the Spirit (1Cor 2:10-15, 14:2).

Among other things, praying in tongues helps us present our case before God perfectly. It helps us shield our prayers from demonic obstacles and allows us wider coverage without praying amiss (Rom 8:26-27, 1Cor 14:2, Eph 6:18). Doing this consistently enables us to develop our faith to the point where our minds now begin to see the reality of answers (Jud 1:20).

Determine today to pray in tongues. As you do so, the power of God's anointing will cause you to receive answers to your prayers, based on His promises (2Cor 1:20-22).

Psalms 34:4-5 (NET) I sought the Lord’s help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed.

After Funbi's fiance met her parents, they fixed a wedding date and everyone in her family was happy for Funbi because she was now over 35. After some weeks, Funbi realized that the old fear of failure started lurking in her heart again. She went to the Lord in prayer concerning it as she did with her previous fears, but this time, the fear didn't seem to go away. She just had this feeling that her wedding wasn't going to hold.

When Funbi discussed this fear with her discipler, she educated Funbi that seeking the Lord could also involve fasting because fasting helps to humble us and cause the grace of God toward us to be multiplied. Funbi decided to go on a fast the following Saturday. She put off her phone and shut off all engagements for the day. She spent the whole day behind closed doors, reading a faith-building book, praying in the spirit, and praising God for giving her victory over those her fears.

After doing this, she realized that the fear in her heart had faded away. She went on to have a very successful wedding according to schedule. Somehow she knew that if she did not conquer that fear, it would have materialized and her wedding would not have held. She knew this because that was her experience with such fears in the past, they always materialized.

Turning aside to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting is usually more effective when certain fears have refused to leave your heart even after you have prayed about them normally. The problem is that when many believers fast, they do not focus on God and ensure that their hearts are rid of all fear and anxiety, they rather focus on demons and their enemies. But the biggest battleground is in the mind. Through the word of God and prayers, we are to bring into captivity every thought and imagination that is contrary to the revealed will of God (see 2 Corinthians 10:5).

Go into today remembering that fear and anxiety allowed to linger in the heart of a believer is a precursor to defeat.

Prayer: Lord, help me seek you until my fears and anxieties fade away. Help me walk perpetually in the victory of faith, In Jesus' name. Amen.

Under The Shadow of The Almighty

Psalms 91:1 (NKJV) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

When the Agada’s moved to their new house, some of their friends in the neighborhood were afraid for them because the next plot to their house belonged to a very powerful and feared native doctor (sorcerer). The native doctor had bragged that no one could build on that plot or dare live that close to him.

Mr. Agada bought the plot of land ridiculously cheap because all the previous owners felt threatened by the native doctor. But he bought and developed the land because the Holy Spirit led him to do so.

Two weeks after moving to his new house, Mr. Agada noticed that his native doctor neighbor was nowhere to be found-- he had moved. It happened that the native doctor could no longer stand the ‘shadow of the Almighty’.

You need to realize that when you are in Christ, you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and dwell under the shadow of the Almighty. This is a fortress that is impenetrable. Those who dwell under the shadow of the Almighty cannot be threatened by anyone. They are the ones whose presence threatens the evil ones because the Almighty hovers over them jealously.

Many believers do not walk in this reality because they do not walk in the faith that activates it.

Go into today knowing that because you are in Christ, you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and are under the shadow of the almighty. You have robust spiritual and physical protection there.

Prayer Confession: I dwell in the secret place of the most high. I abide under the shadow of the almighty. There is protection, peace and prosperity for me. Amen.

Psalms 34:4-5 (NET) I sought the Lord’s help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed.

Funbi was really afraid of failing again because she had failed several times in her life. From failure in important exams to failures in trying to start new businesses, she had seen the different colors of failure and was now feeling like a complete failure in life.
But someone shared the gospel of the Lord Jesus to her and she believed it. After accepting the Lord Jesus and beginning to pattern her life according to His word, she realized that her terrible fear of failure was alien to the new life she now had in Christ.

She just entered a relationship that was headed for marriage, but she was so afraid that the relationship wasn't going to work out. This was how this fear of failure hounded her.
One morning during her quiet time, she came in contact with today's scripture when she realized that the most effective way to deal with her fears was to seek the Lord and cast them upon Him. Over time, as she learned to do this, she observed that each and every time, she conquered her fears and could now live the victorious life Jesus paid for her on the cross. It took her time to adjust, but with this secret, she conquered all her fears.

Fear is one of the strongest weapons of the enemy against people. It weakens faith and diminishes strength. If a believer can conquer his fears, he has already conquered most of his battle.
David could defeat Goliath because unlike the rest of Israel, he was not afraid of Goliath. Because of this, he could connect to the supernatural dimension through faith. Fear always hinders this connection, so it is important that we learn to overcome our fears because as believers, we are to live the supernatural life naturally.

Go into today knowing that the most effective way to deal with your fears is not to deny them or run away from them, it is to seek the Lord and cast them upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). David understood this secret and could conquer his fears and walk in the faith that ensured his victories. The victory that overcomes the world comes through our faith (1 John 5:4). Fear is one of the biggest inhibitors of faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me always remember to seek you and cast my fears upon you. Help me to always walk in the victory of faith. Amen.

My Will in His Will

1 John 5:14-15 (KJV) And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

After Joy listened to a sermon titled ‘‘exercising your faith’', she began to ask God for big things. She would confess these things in prayers because she now knew that all things are possible with God. But to her dismay, only a few of the things she had asked for were done. Wondering she asked "I prayed these prayers at the same time and at the same level of faith, why do I have answers to some and not to others? ’’ In her quest for an answer, she found today’s passage while studying her Bible, she then discovered that it is asking according to God’s will that guarantees consistent answered prayers.

Just like Joy, you may be wondering why you have asked so much from God and have received only little. God’s commitment is to His will, He is not obligated to doing your will. If you want God to always answer you, you must learn to always seek His will and do it (John 4:34; 5:30 and 14:21).

There are things that are given to all people by God (Matthew 5:45), there are other things that are given to all His children (John 1:12; 3:16), but the ability to ask and always receive whatever you desire is given only to those who are in the will of God.

Anyone who seeks and does the will of God will always have His backing.

Go into today knowing that God longs to see His will done on earth (Matthew 6:10). If you want to always have answers to your prayers, let your desires be captured in His will.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, let your kingdom come and let your will be done in my life. Amen!

Evil Mixed With Good

2 Peter 2:1 (ESV) But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.  And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

Many years after Judith’s salvation experience, she met a group of young and enthusiastic preachers who taught that ‘‘God is too kind to condemn the world He had created''. They also said that "the harsh God of the Old Testament is different from the Loving and gracious God of the New Testament, and because this New Testament God is so loving, He condemns no one''.  Because of Judith’s understanding of the word of God, she turned them down and didn't follow them. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with those who didn't have as much understanding as Judith.

Whenever you see evil and good on the same platter, what you are seeing is evil. Some of the fruits for identifying these false prophets and teachers according to the above passage are:

They will bring destructive heresies. Heresy is the departure from the truth, It also means preferring a truth over the other usually because of personal bias and gain.

They will deny [the authority and divinity] of Jesus.

They will cause many to follow their sensuality (lustful desires).

Because of them, the way of truth will be blasphemed.

They will exploit their victims.

The subduing power of false prophets and teachers is their allowance for sensual and sinful gratification. According to them, sin is no longer evil because God has poured out His abundant grace. Their end and that of their followers however is destruction. See 2 Peter 2:3.

Jesus in John 8:34 says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin’’. Ponder on this as you go about today’s business.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, let my heart be fixed on the truth of your word and never the bias of men. Amen!

Strength To Stand

Luke 21:36 (AMP) “ Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.”

It is important for us to pay more attention to what the Lord is saying in today’s Bible passage. As believers, we need to wake up, wake up in the place of prayer; wake up in the place of meditative study of the word of God. Those who will survive the tough times as believers are those who meditate on God’s word; watching and praying. Our Lord did not just caution us to keep awake and be prayerful to survive the tough times, you see, we need strength to stand before the Son of Man.

Friend, as for me, I want to see His face. I want to trust Him to take me through all these things and give me strength to stand before Him when He returns. I don’t want to be ashamed at His appearance, because many will be. I want to resemble Him, He is coming for those that look like Him. So what must I do? I must not give up on Him now. He hasn’t given up on me. What if I fall? I must stand up, and get back into the race. Micah 7:8 says ” Rejoice not against me, O my enemy! When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.”

Dear friend, keep awake and be watchful at all times, pray for strength to escape all these things and to stand before the Son of Man.

Prayer: Father please grant me the grace to keep awake and to be alert at all times. Help me to run this race till I reach the finish line, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Psalms 33:1 (KJV) Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

After Angie observed the secret of Mathta's victorious life, she was now determined to live a life filled with gratitude and thanksgiving. Before this time, each morning she woke up, it would take her at least 30 mins to get our of bed because she would spend the first moments of her day in bed analyzing and agonizing how difficult her life is.

Now that she understood that murmuring and complaining were counterproductive and demonic, she understood that she had to replace that bad habit with a good one. She set her phone to remind her every morning to give thanks and praise to God when she wakes up.

Each morning when she woke up, she remembered to start the day with thanksgiving, praises, and songs of victory. After practicing this for one week, she saw that she was visibly a happier person. She felt whole in her inner-man and she knew that she was now stronger spiritually.

Self-pity, sadness, depression, and sorrow are not just emotions of the mind, they are weapons against the spirit. The joy of the Lord is your strength, and the devil understands that if he can get you out of this joy, he can put you in a corner of weakness and defeat.

Go into today determined to be intentional about putting off the Garment of heaviness and putting on the Garment of praise. Praise is comely and appropriate for the righteous. It is a spiritual discipline that engenders the flow of grace and power.

Prayer: Lord, help me wake up every morning to proclaim your love, and go to bed every night singing of your faithfulness(Psalm 92:2). Help me replace every heaviness and sorrow with your outrageous joy. Amen.

Psalms 150:1, 6 (KJV) Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Angie and Martha were both friends who accepted the Lord Jesus the same day and attended the same church. Angie lived a defeated life filled with depression while Martha lived a joyful victorious life in Christ.  Even though they were both born again and had been believers for years, it was clear that there was something missing in Angie's life.

Angie always assumed that Martha didn't have life rough like her because Martha didn't have a wicked family background like her. Angie was from a family of warlocks and idol worshipers and she believed her problems stemmed from her family background and foundations. She was wrong.

A time came that Angie followed Martha to her village for her younger sister's wedding. While they spent some days together, Angie observed that Martha never once complained about anything but always looked for an opportunity to give thanks and praise to the Lord. Angie observed that unlike her, Martha was very cheerful and had a light and happy countenance. What surprised Angie most was the discovery that Martha's parents were idol worshipers. It now became clear to her that Martha had a more wicked background, but this did not stop her or affect her destiny because she lived a life that was filled with the presence of God.
Angie understood that weekend that Martha's life was filled with the presence of God and victory because instead of always complaining like her, Martha's heart [and countenance] was always filled with praise and thanksgiving to God.

As believers, we understand that we are the temple of  God. Our bodies are the sanctuary of the living God (see 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19). As we see in today's Bible verses, we are expected to praise God in His sanctuary. This does not just mean praising God in the church gathering, it means praising God in the sanctuary of your body. One of the easiest ways to be always filled with the presence of God is to be a person of praise and thanksgiving(Ephesians 5:18-20). The Lord inhabits the praises of His people(Psalm 22:3), His presence fills the life of believers who are filled with praise and thanksgiving.

We are also expected to praise God in the firmament of His power. As long as we breathe the free air of God's firmament, we are expected to be praising Him and giving Him thanks. This means we are not only expected to be thankful and praise God in the sanctuary of our bodies, but we are also to raise our voices to praise the Lord and give Him thanks at every opportunity we find. Let the high praises of God resound from your vessels from time to time. This is the recipe for perpetual victory (see Psalm 149:6)

Go into today remembering that living a life of thanksgiving and praise is the secret to living a victorious life in Christ. It is practically impossible to complain and give thanks at the same time. Get rid of complaining and let your life be filled with praise and thanksgiving, for praise is comely for the upright(see Palm 33:1).
Prayer: Lord, please help me that from this moment, I will always be thankful and full of praise for you. Amen.

Protect What You Have

1 Timothy 6:20-21 (NET) O Timothy, protect what has been entrusted to you. Avoid the profane chatter and absurdities of so-called “knowledge.” By professing it, some have strayed from the faith. Grace be with you all.

Ikenna joined a Facebook group where all they did was to try to poke holes in the Bible and argue over useless and vain topics bothering on spirituality, spiritism, the divinity of Jesus, and the likes. He noticed that the group was filled with godless people who had no respect or regard for the Lord God. After reading some of the posts on that group for some time, even though he brought potent arguments against their flagrant attacks on the faith, he observed that his faith at some point started to waver because of some of the arguments and assertions brought up by certain godless and blasphemous members of the group. He decided to leave the group. He observed that after leaving, his faith started to grow again. He no longer felt suffocated spiritually.

As believers today, we need to realize that there are those whose mission from the devil is to deceive God's people and cause them to stray away from the faith through high falutin arguments that sway people who do not have a sound understanding of scriptures and the power of God. Apart from the words of what these people spread, there are evil spirits of unbelief and profanity that they spread through their materials and arguments.
As a believer in Christ who is purpose-driven, it is important that you be particular about avoiding profane chatter and absurdities of so-called 'knowledge'.
We are to guard our hearts with all diligence because out of it proceeds the issues of life(see Proverbs 4:23). Materials we read, watch, or listen to get into our hearts. We have to be careful not to allow materials that defile our hearts and engender unbelief. Many believers have found themselves spiritually weak and unable to walk in God's power because of this.

Go into today remembering to be [sober and] vigilant. Watch and pray. Don't let your heart be inundated with materials that seek to undermine your faith.

Prayer: Lord, help me guard my heart with all diligence. Give me the wisdom to discern materials designed to flood my heart with profanity.

Bible Study Manual 13

Topic: Understanding God's Purpose for Redeeming Man

Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints

When we talk about the Hope of God's calling, we are talking about what God had in mind for us when He saved us. Understanding this would greatly help us to be fruitful in God's kingdom(John 15:8,16). Knowing the hope of God's calling would unleash the power of faith and help us lead purpose-driven lives as sons of God.

1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Biodun and Shade now had a very sour and unhappy marriage. Shade was convinced that her husband was now cheating on her because he bought a new phone with fingerprint password and made it impossible for her to access it. He also started coming home really late. Biodun felt that his wife no longer loved him, so he stopped showing her affection the way he used to. They now always disagreed.

Biodun wanted a happy home like that of his brother. He asked his brother what the secret was because he knew there was a time that his brother too was having problems in his marriage and almost got a divorce. His brother told him that his secret was accepting Jesus and letting Jesus become the Lord of his marriage. He preached the cross to him and told him that the Lord Jesus had the power to save his marriage and bring peace to his Life because He has paid for this on the cross. This didn’t make any sense to Biodun. ‘What foolishness!’ He said. ‘I say I have marital problems and you are telling me to believe in Jesus that died on the cross?’

The preaching of the cross is foolishness to unbelievers, but it is the power of God to those who believe. Believing in the sacrifice of Jesus and accepting His lordship is the source of all power for the believer. When you see a believer walking in divine health, it is because he believes that Jesus has paid for this on the cross, and receives it by faith (1 Pet 2:24). When you see a believer walking above curses and demonic limitations, it is because he believes that all curses against him have been nailed to the cross (Col 2:14). When you see a believer walking in divine provisions, it is because he believes that Jesus has paid for this on the cross (see 2 Cor 8:9), etc.

By Their Fruits

Matthew 7:15-16 (NET) You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

When Gbenga accepted Christ, there were many things in his life that were not right. But as he grew in the knowledge of the Lord, he knew that many things that were in his life had to leave. He just knew he had to change his friends because they were all ungodly people.

The Corinthian Christians were babes in the faith (lambs and not yet sheep-see John 21:15-16). Many of them were still living like unbelievers (see 1 Cor 3:1-3). But they did not know any better. That was one reason the book of 1Corinthians was written to them.

When they read it, they repented in sorrow because it made them realize that many of them were not walking in a way fitting for those who would inherit the kingdom of God (see 1 Cor 6:9-10). So great was their repentance, brokenness, and sorrow that Paul had to encourage them in his second letter to them (see 2 Cor 2: 4-11).

The way they responded to the word of God when they were corrected showed that they were born again. They bore fruits of repentance.

Jesus tells us that we will recognize people by their FRUITS (see Matt 7:16). For believers, these fruits include the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22), the fruits of repentance (including when the word of God challenges you in an area or erring (see Matt3:8, Luke 3:8), the fruit of your lips (Heb 13:15), etc.

Go into today remembering that If a person is brazenly committing sin and refusing to repent even when confronted with the word of God, it is not that he is spiritual a baby in the faith(lamb) , it is most likely that he is not in the faith (goat), or he has had a shipwreck of the faith (1 Tim 1:19).
