BEHOLDING CHRIST 2

image

Audio: http://po.st/x8tjny

1 John 3:2

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. NIV

Anyone who believes in Jesus and accepts him as Lord and savior is a child of God. In God’s household, Jesus is our first born (see Rom 8:29). Everything that he has experienced we shall also experience. This is the pattern of God for the church. We have been crucified with Christ and are raised with Him if we truly are walking in the spirit. The grace of God empowers us to crucify the flesh daily and walk in the spirit. Jesus Christ resurrected with a glorified body and we too who believe in Him shall also resurrect with a glorified bodies during rapture (see 1 Cor 15:52).

As our text reveals; we don’t know how we shall be when we are resurrected, all we know is that we shall be like the lord is. Our minds may not be able to comprehend the glory that shall be revealed in us, but by the spirit of God, we know that we shall be like Christ and reign in glory.

Go into today knowing that the rapture can happen any moment. Just like Jesus lived on the earth to fulfill His God given purpose, you are expected, by the help of the Holy Spirit to do the same. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is what guarantees you being raptured (see Eph 1:13-14, 2 Cor 1:22).

Prayer: Thank you Father for Your grace that has selected me for your salvation. I pray you help me always walk worthy of my calling in you, in Jesus name. Amen.

BEHOLDING CHRIST

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/FUq8w5

1 John 3:2

…But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

NIV

Daniel always wondered why David talked and gestured in a peculiar way each time he was to pray or lead a prayer. When Daniel eventually visited David’s church and saw the way their General overseer prayed and preached, he understood. He saw that his friends were simply unconsciously mirroring the manners of their general overseer who they revered and admired.

The more of someone you look upon with reverence and admiration, the more like that person you become. This happens unconsciously but it really happens to everyone.

In today’s Bible text, we see that we shall be like Christ when he appears, for we shall see Him as He is. Christ has put in you the nature and the ability to be like Him. This nature is activated when you behold Him.

Christians are to look unto Jesus always (see Heb 12:2). We are to behold the mirror of God’s word and see Christ who is the image of what we are to become (see 2 Cor 3:18). The more of Christ we see, the more of Christ we become.

Do you see Christ in your world; controlling everything?

Go into today determined to live a Christ centered life; bring Christ into all you do by always submitting to His government and Lordship. Remember that all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (see Mat 28:18) so He is truly in control of everything in your life.

Prayer: thank you lord for calling me and making me your own. I pray you help me daily behold you more and more. Amen.

GOD’S COMMANDMENTS

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/ptpOVD

1 Jn 2:3

Now by this we know that we have come to know God: if we keep his commandments. NET

Nkechi said “ever since I started taking my walk with God more seriously, I noticed that a lot of things in my life have changed positively. There are things I just wouldn't do anymore and my nature has changed. I find myself not hating the people I normally would have hated before, instead I find myself loving them. I also found that my mindset to life has changed greatly. I wasn’t always like this. I remember I would keep malice for several days with my sister and not talk to her. Today, I find such character practically impossible.”

All Nkechi did was to allow the word of God into her life. When the word of God came to her, she accepted it and did not reject it or argue with it; she adjusted her life accordingly. Looking back at her life, she sees a great difference and a positive change. This change was not mechanized or calculated, it came as a result of the renewing of her mind by the word of God.

The summary of God’s commandments is love. He has written His law in your heart and mind. When you walk with Him and submit to His government, you will find yourself keeping His commandments; you will find yourself walking in love.

Go into today determined to live your life under the government of Christ. Know that you have been bought with a price and your life now belongs to Christ.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your grace that helps me walk in your light. I pray you help me never give in to distractions but ever growing in grace, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

WORK AND REWARD

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/3jE5qr

Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. NIV

Pat was brought up by well-educated parents who gave him all he needed to succeed, it was therefore expected that he would excel in his studies, but on the contrary he failed. Even though as the library prefect, he was almost always in the library and was always in front of the computer, instead of reading, he would play computer games, and no one knew about this, not even the librarian.

Every work whether good or bad, heavenly or earthly has a reward. Every work should be done with eyes fixed on the reward as this will serve as a caution and as a motivation.

Now these are some quotes from the Bible about work and reward:

Galatians 6:7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. KJV

Galatians 6:5: For we are each responsible for our conduct. NLT

Galatians 6:8: For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. KJV

Go into today knowing that God will reward every work, right or wrong; public or hidden. Let us learn to do works that will earn us glorious rewards, knowing that we are each responsible for our conduct.

Prayer: heavenly Father, thank you for your word, please help me to always do works that will give you glory. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

GOD FRUSTRATES THE TOKENS OF LIARS

image

FOR DEVOTIONAL AUDIO CLICK HERE: http://goo.gl/MYnYib

Isa 44:25
[I am the Lord] Who frustrates the signs and confounds the omens [upon which the false prophets’ forecasts of the future are based] of the [boasting] liars and makes fools of diviners, Who turns the wise backward and makes their knowledge foolishness. (AMP)

Several people are held in bondage by negative words spoken over their lives either by so called 'prophets' or other people they respected or feared. Out of anger, hurt or sheer wickedness, people have proclaimed curses over other people.

The scriptural text above describes God who frustrates the tokens (or proclamations) of liars (false prophets). The next verse says '... He confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers... (Isa 44:26). So while God wants to annul evil declarations, He delights in confirming the words of His servants. How does God do this for His servant? By giving His servant His own word. And since the servant of God with the word of God has the authority of God behind him, he overrides every false proclamations on a given situation or person. With God's words the entire universe was created, your world is too small for His words to recreate. Are you there feeling an omen over your life you could trace to negative proclamations? Take the word of God and meditate upon them. Then proclaim His counsels over your life.

Go into today knowing God's word overrides every other word. Speak His words over your life and situation.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the living word of God. I frustrate every token of liars over my life in the past, today and always, in your holy name. Amen.

TEST ALL SPIRITS 2

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/8j77NC

John 10:4-5

…and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. (KJV)

Kemi had been having very strange dreams. After sharing her problems with Prophet Femi, he brought a special Salt that she was to sprinkle round her house to drive away demons. He also instructed her to come the next day for him to bath her and wash away the power of the spirit husband who had prevented her from getting married. She went home but was not comfortable with the idea of being bathed. She decided to first go on a personal fast to pray about her problems. She bought some faith building books and started reading them. The second day of her fast was the last day she had that strange dream. The word of God had brought deliverance to Kemi and she was now growing spiritually because she now gave her time to it. She got married one year later. She would later discover that prophet Femi was a false prophet using demonic powers.

Many Christians have fallen prey to false prophets and evil spirits not because they aren’t God’s children but because they are spiritual babes. When you walk closely with the lord, you will grow spiritually; you will grow from being a lamb to becoming a sheep (see Joh 21:15-16). It is Christ's sheep (mature children) that know His voice from that of a stranger. They can differentiate it because of spiritual growth (see Heb 5:14).

Go into today Knowing that God wants you to grow daily; spiritual growth never ends. Plan to study His word and pray more. I recommend you read this free E-book: http://po.st/YJ2gVU

TEST ALL SPIRITS

image

AUDIO LINK:

http://po.st/xaGG9e

1 John 4:1

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (KJV)

Ahab had 400 prophets and they were all liars, Jehoshaphat could sense it, hence he asked “is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?" (See 2 Chr 18:6).

Unfortunately today, there are many Prophets, Pastors, Bishops, Apostles and the likes, whose actions are controlled by demons. They can see into the future hence they are called prophets, but they are wolves in sheep's clothing.

Now this is a big question for you: like Jehoshaphat, can you sense falsehood even when it is from a “Pastor" or do you just flow along?

To be able to live free from falsehood and demonic influences, you must be able to distinguish between spirits. You must also have a living understanding of God’s word. Listening to and obeying the Holy Spirit is one sure way to discerning spirits; for the Spirit of God is a discerner of even the intents of the heart.

Go into today submitting to the Holy Spirit and be free from the influence of falsehood.

Prayer: Father, please teach me to know when you speak so I can know when you're not speaking, in Jesus' name I pray.  Amen

GOD FORGIVES 2

image

Audio version:

http://po.st/QHUrhj

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (NET)

John had built his Career Upon lies, yet he said he was born again and God forgives his sins even before he asks because Jesus has already paid for them. He did not realize that he was only deceiving himself because real Christians do not continue in sin.
We saw yesterday that Repenting before God entails confessing your sin (acknowledging that it is sin, opening up your weakness before God and Seeking his strength) and forsaking your sin.
Even Though God forgives sins, we must know that every sin is a weight that hinders a Christian from attaining the fullness of Christ, and weights slow down. Anything that slows you down slows down your glory because God’s glory increases as our race advances.

Many giants never appeared because they did not lay off the weight that hindered them from fulfilling their destinies. Think about Joseph, do you think he would have fulfilled his destiny if he fell and kept falling into sin with Potiphar’s Wife? He probably would have remained a 'big boy' in Potiphar’s house and never would have fulfilled his great destiny of leading the world.
Go into today Knowing that you have been given the power to lay off every weight and the sin that easily entangles you. Continue to follow Jesus’s example; He walked with the consciousness of His destination.

Prayer: thank you father for giving me the grace to shed every weight. I pray you help me look only Unto Jesus for life and Inspiration, In Christ's name I pray. Amen.

1 John 2:1

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: (KJV)

God always forgives us and cleanses our sins because Jesus has already paid for them on the cross.

Some may think “why don’t I continue to sin since God will always forgive me?” Anyone who thinks this way only shows that he has not truly repented because repentance means turning away from your Sins; it means confessing and forsaking your Sins, It does not mean confessing them alone.

When a man confesses his sins, it means he does not justify himself or give excuses. He owns up to his faults and Confesses his weakness and fears to the Lord (many sins are a result of fears); he acknowledges that he has no strength and he is seeking help and strength from the Lord. There are some things that God requires that you ask before you receive them because He wants you to know and acknowledge that He is the one doing it for you- this is for your own good (it is always better to know where a supply comes from, so you will not look to the wrong place for it next time). Confession opens you up for more grace.

Go into today knowing that God is always on your side. He wants to forgive your sins more than you want Him to, and He will always forgive and cleanse the sin you acknowledge and repent from.

Prayer:

Dear lord Jesus, I thank you for your great love for me. I pray you help me love you with all my heart; help me not to sin. Amen.

MINISTRY OF ANGELS

image

AUDIO VERSION :

 http://po.st/sdnNTA

iPhone : http://po.st/ciGES

Heb 1:14
Are they (Angels) not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (KJV)

David began to have a strange experience. At certain times during the nights, he would feel a hand tap him. As he tries to gain consciousness, he would see what looks like the feet of the man who woke him. And when he is fully awake, he sees no one. With time, he noticed that whenever he heeded this 'wake-up call' and prayed, deliverance happens either to him or someone he prayed for. When he told his pastor, his pastor taught him how angels minister to saints and assured him an angel woke him up those times to pray.

As children of God, we are surrounded by angels whether we are aware of them or not. All over the Scriptures, the people of God encountered angels. Three men appeared to Abraham, and two of them were angels who later destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen18:1-3; 19:1,12). Jacob slept and found angels ascending and descending a ladder (Gen 29:10-12).

In the New Testament, an angel visited Mary to inform her she would birth the Lord Jesus (Luk1:26-33). Angels ministered to the Lord Jesus at different times (Mat 4:11; Luk 22:43). And the disciples experienced the ministry of angels many times after the Lord ascended into heaven (Acts 2:10-11; 10:30-32; 12:5-11).

As a child of God, Angels attend to you as demons follow the children of darkness. Anyone who does not have the Lord Jesus is in darkness, for Jesus is the true Light (John 1:9).

Go into today knowing angels surround you and attend to you (see Psa 37:4).

PRAYER:  Father, thank You for the provisions You have made to protect me in a dangerous world. Please help me to take advantage of the ministry of angels.  Take the glory, LORD. Amen

DON’T GIVE UP

image

Audio version link:

1 Corinthians 16:9

For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. (KJV)

David was a young man destined to be a king, but growing up was difficult for him. He may have asked himself “how will I ever become a king when I’m surrounded with problems?” David practically suffered at every stage of life; he spent some years following sheep in the wilderness and had to fight wild animals, Saul then chased him everywhere to kill him. He finally became King and even then he had to fight battles. David won all his battles because God was with him.

Has God told you something about your future? Has He given a dream, a vision, or a prophecy? The fact that God has spoken does not eliminate challenges, but you can be sure of winning because He is with you.

Brethren, do not surrender to distractions. Hold on to God's promises for you and courageously fight the battles that come your way. You will win all battles and fulfill your dreams if you don't give up.

Go into today with new strength to hold on to God and you'll be celebrated in due session.

Prayer Confession: I receive new strength to fight and not give up, to hope and not despair in Jesus name. Amen

LOVE IS POWERFUL 2

1 Jn 1:7

But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (NET)

Mr. Ekele was very pleased with Samuel because of his loyalty, humility and competence. Samuel was the most loyal, diligent and truthful among all his staff. He had even hoped that Samuel would marry his first daughter.

This did not mean Samuel was perfect, in fact, other workers believed Mr. Ekele was simply partial to them because of the way he liked Samuel. Samuel's faults were overlooked because he had gained favor in the sight of his boss; Samuel had all the qualities that his boss desired in a worker. So even when Samuel made mistakes, his boss overlooked them because he knew Samuel already had a good heart towards the work.

Many times, we sin without even knowing it. Those who will receive constant cleansing by the blood of Jesus are those who walk in the light. We have seen from previous devotionals that those who walk in the light walk in love; love is the sign that you are truly a child of God, because God is love. Love is all that God requires from us.

Go into today assured that the blood of Jesus cleanses you from ALL sins. Determine to walk more in love even as you go into the day.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for loving me so much. Thank you for empowering me to love too. I pray you help me never slide back into darkness, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

1 Jn 1:7

But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. (NET)

In a movie I watched some time ago, a young girl was cursed with an evil spell and was about to die. The only thing that could save her was if she experienced an act of true love. I have noticed that even in the dark spiritual world, they acknowledge that love is the most powerful force in the universe. This kind of love originates from God and can only come from those who know God (see 1 Joh 4:7-8). There is great power in this love because it is the greatest manifestation of faith in God (see Gal 5:6).

Walking in the light means walking in love; this means you love God and love your neighbor; Jesus defines your neighbor as anyone you come in contact with (see Luke 10:29-37). The key to living a holy life before God is to love Him and love everyone you come in contact with. When you love you are walking in God’s light and no darkness can stand this.

Go into today with a renewed consciousness of God’s presence. Know that the Lord is always with you because He says so (see Heb 13:5, Deut 31:6). Remember that loving God means pleasing Him and not grieving Him by the things you do and say. Also determine to treat people the way you want to be treated. This is what Christianity is about.

Prayer:

Heavenly father, I thank you for helping me thus far in my walk with you. I pray you multiply your grace on my life, that I may love others the way you have taught me, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

1Thes 4:13-14
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (KJV)

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the center of our faith. Having a savior that died, rose and ascended bodily into heaven in the full glare of witnesses set the Christian faith apart in explaining life beyond this earth.

Therefore, at the core of the Christian faith is the Doctrine of Resurrection from the Dead. The Holy Spirit places it among the "Principles of the Doctrine of Christ" (see Heb 6:1-2). In fact, the issue of Resurrection is so central that without it the Christian faith is vain and void. Apostle Paul says we are most miserable among men if there were no resurrection from the dead (1 Cor 15:15-19).

Jesus Christ did not mince words about the existence of hell and eternal judgment. The Resurrection is used to define saints who will reign with Him at His second coming. The saints are the people who accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Go into today knowing it does not end here. Remember eternity is un-ending and you have your time here on earth to determine whether eternity is bliss or otherwise for you. Do not wait till it is too late.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to know you as Savior and to proclaim You to all that come my way. Save them from hell through my preaching and take the glory. I pray in Your holy name. Amen.

HOLY TO THE LORD

Exodus 39:30-31

They made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote on it an inscription, like the engraving of a signet, "Holy to the LORD." And they tied to it a cord of blue to fasten it on the turban above, as the LORD had commanded Moses. (ESV)

Notice that the plate of the holy crown which was to carry that inscription was made of pure gold. This signifies the Lord’s standards. The Lord will not lower His standards for us, He won’t reduce His Holy requirements just to satisfy us. Man must adjust and align his ways to meet God’s righteous demands. But, can man really live up to God’s righteous demands? Through the law; Impossible! By observing some rules and regulations; impossible! Through our own efforts; impossible! We can only live up to God’s standards through the cross! The old man must die; we must allow Jesus to be the center of our lives. He must be involved in every detail of our lives. He is the only One that can put on us the turban of righteousness with the inscription “HOLY TO THE LORD”. He is the only one that can make our lives glorious and make our garments pure gold (Psalms 45:13). Let’s submit to His lordship so that we can exclaim like Paul “From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus” (see Gal 6:17). Friend, what other mark can attract divine presence and cause the demons to stare in dread other than the mark that carries this inscription “HOLY TO THE LORD”.

Go into today determined to live under the authority of our Lord Jesus.

Prayer: Holy unto you Lord, Holy unto you; hear this humble prayer of mine and make me holy unto you, amen.

GOD IS LIGHT 1

AUDIO VERSION (Now iPhone Compatible):

http://po.st/yuWf8O

1 Jn 1:5

Now this is the gospel message we have heard from him and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. (NET)

Noah's future looked dark and bleak, his father had hoped he would be arrested again and be detained this time, that "maybe he would straighten out in prison". A preacher once told Noah that God could fix his life if he repented. Noah almost beat him up. "It is your miserable life that needs fixing" he rudely replied.

One day, Noah fought with his sister and beat her till she fainted. His father had had enough, he sent Noah out of the house. This was when Noah remembered what the preacher told him. He located the closest church and went to seek help from the pastor. He accepted Jesus and started being taught in that Church.

The entrance of God's kingdom brought light into Noah's life that was spiraling out of control. He got back to secondary school and started understanding what he was taught. He also found strength in God to overcome all his drug addictions. His life now had direction because the light of God shined in his heart. Noah later went on to study medicine and surgery in the university.

God's presence in any life brings order and focus. It is the light that drives away the darkness that seeks to destroy you.

Go into today determined to daily walk in God’s light; let His word rule your life, and be transformed from glory to glory.

Prayer: Thank you father for shining your light in my life. I pray you help me always walk in the light and never again in darkness. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

RECOGNIZING OPPORTUNITIES

AUDIO VERSION (now compatible with iPhone):

iPhone Link: http://po.st/cML0f6

Gen 21:19
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink. (HCSB)

The text above is taken from the story of a woman and her little son who found themselves in a very undesirable condition; rejected and alone. But God was with them and He opened her eyes to see a well of water.

It is important to realize that opportunities are always there with oppositions. Whatever the situation a person goes through, there is a well of opportunity to tap into. You only need God to open your eyes. Samson found himself in a precarious situation bound and surrounded by his enemies. God opened his eyes and he saw an opportunity in a jawbone of an ass. (Judges 15:15-19). With that jawbone he did not only defeat his adversaries, he also got water to quench his thirst. Another man, Joseph found himself in jail undeservedly. He saw people around him troubled by their predicaments. And he ministered to their needs. One day, one of those he ministered to connected him to the king and he became prime minister. (Genesis 41:9-14)

All the times the opportunities that will change our situations for the better are all around us. We only need God to open our eyes. They could be some persons you are not paying attention to. Or an idea staring you in the face.

Go into today knowing opportunities abound around you. Let that knowledge spring confidence in your heart as you face any challenge.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see the opportunities for my lifting. Glorify your name as I recognize and maximize them. Amen.

TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/kqKBwX

Eccl 11:4

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. (TLB)

Is there something the Lord has placed on your heart to do which you haven’t done yet? Is there a message you are to share but you have not? Is there a book the Holy Spirit wants you to write, a book that will touch lives, but you have not yet written it? Is there someone you were led to pray for and you kept on procrastinating? Or perhaps, have you registered for that exam? Have you applied for that job? What of that business idea, have you started something yet? Is there something you know you ought to do which you haven’t done yet? What is keeping you? What are you waiting for?

You see, friends, if you wait for the perfect conditions, you won’t accomplish anything. You know why? Because you may not have such conditions! Why not take a leap of faith. Why not step out in faith. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, depend wholly on Him and see Him lead you. (Prov. 3:5-6). God wants to lead you; He wants to help you accomplish that task. But you must step out by faith. Peterson in the message translation says “But there are some things that you cannot be sure of. You must take a chance.” Trust in God, and take a chance. Finally friends, put all your eggs in God’s basket, don’t worry, He doesn’t drop ‘His baskets’.

Go into today determined to get that project started and not procrastinate anymore.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for grace to do all things through Christ that strengthens me, and I walk in that grace today in Jesus name, amen.

RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/IRr3M8

Romans 13:1-2

1. Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. 2. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.

NLT

Daniel lived in a village ruled by an unbelieving king; Daniel did everything right but would conspicuously disregard instructions from the King's palace, claiming he is not subject to the king because the king is not a Christian.

One Sunday, when service was ending, the King's servant rushed into the Church asking everyone to gather immediately at the palace because a group of invaders had entered the village; the king had summoned the community to his palace to keep them away from the invaders. Daniel didn’t even wait to hear the message from the palace as usual. Unfortunately, he fell into the hands of the invaders and was killed.

The Bible clearly states that Christians are to be subject to constituted authorities. These authorities could be political, religious, organizational or within the family. When your heart is submitted to God’s authority, it would be easy for you to submit to constituted authority anywhere because your heart already has the right disposition for that. If a man constantly rebels against any constituted authority, chances are that his heart will develop a disposition that will make it practically impossible for him to submit to any authority, not even God’s.

Go into today knowing that, “anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished." -Romans 13:2. NLT.

Prayer: father, please forgive every past rebellion and help me to be obedient to you and to authorities, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

LET US MOVE WITH THE CLOUD

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/jdzxpA

Ex 40:36-37

In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out; 37 but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out — until the day it lifted

NIV

“The cloud of glory is moving, move with the cloud, move with the cloud…” What an awesome truth James Dorothy shared when he wrote this song released in 1997.

We are living in a hasty generation. The virtue of patience is fast disappearing from among us. The world seems to be in haste, things are happening so fast. As technology is developing at an exponential rate, so is the confusion and crime. In the middle of all the chaos, the kingdom of heaven is indeed advancing as well, not just advancing, but forcefully advancing ( see Matt 11:12 NIV).

In times like this, the only way we can survive as Christians is to move at God’s pace. The Lord wants to lead us through the valley of the shadow of death, but we must be willing to move with the cloud. We must lay down our own compasses and look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. We must be willing, like the Jews in the days of Moses, to ‘journey only the day the cloud is taken up and to camp when the cloud is not taken up’.

Friend, if we must make it to the end in this race that has already been marked out for us, we must move with the cloud of His divine and glorious presence ‘throughout all our journeys’ on this earth.

Go into today determined to submit yourself to the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father, please show me your ways, teach me your paths and lead me today, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

BY THEIR FRUITS

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/fsR9xm

1 John 2:4-5

If someone claims, "I know God," but doesn't obey God's commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

NLT

Steve was very unsuspecting in all their business deals because he and Segun were members of the same church. Unknown to Steve, Segun used every opportunity to defraud him; there was a time he even faked Steve’s signature to make major cash withdrawals. Steve was devastated because he always assumed he was in business with a brother.

There are so many people that openly profess Christianity for convenience. Jesus knew this and He gave us a way to identify such people. He said we shall know them by their fruits, he didn’t say we shall know them by their words. The fruit of the spirit cannot be faked, at least not to a man of the spirit.

This first manifestation of this fruit is love; love for God characterized by devotion, accountability and commitment to God. Anyone who loves God will serve Him, no matter where he is or the nature of his work. Secondly, it is impossible for someone who is born of God to be constantly selfish; he will have unselfish love for his neighbor (see 1 John 4:7-8).

Go into today knowing that you are not to be deceived but you have been armed with the ability to identify the sheep from the wolf wearing sheep clothing.

Prayer: heavenly father, I thank you for today. I confess that I am walking in the light, and my light shines brighter and brighter, and darkness cannot stand my light, in Jesus name. Amen

JESUS PAID IT ALL

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/Fh4dKq

1 Jn 2:2

…and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world.

NET

Ifain was tired of the way he was now living since he started his NYSC. He got convicted while listening to a sermon he had saved on his phone when a vibrant believer in school. He decided to starve himself for seven days as penance for his many sins. He was going about it the wrong way and was going to expose himself to unclean spirits. But the lord used Damina his flat mate to correct and restore him.

It is ok to fast and pray because you want to seek God’s face and receive grace to overcome a besetting sin that is hindering you from reaching your potential and destiny in God, it is ok to give yourself strict rules to help keep you in check. But it is wrong, very wrong, to do any of these with the impression that they will somehow help pay for your sins. Let me break the news to you; YOU CAN NEVER PAY FOR YOUR SINS, you cannot afford the price.

Many times, people don’t know that it is pride and not brokenness that makes them want to suffer for their sins; they want to feel that they have earned repentance and peace with God. Jesus alone is the atoning sacrifice (payment) for our sins.

Go into today accepting that Jesus has paid for your sins. He has suffered for your sins so you will not suffer for them. Believing this and Having  faith in Him is the first key to receiving grace to live above sin.

Prayer: thank you father for saving me and bringing me to your glorious kingdom. I pray you help me walk always in your will, in Jesus name. Amen

THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/uepCT7

2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

NIV

Few experiences could be as painful as the loss of a loved one. So when Harry's dad passed on he was very, very sad and could not be comforted by family and friends. He turned to God for comfort and to His amazement the Holy Spirit began to tell him soothing words in ways none of his human comforters could.

The God of the universe as revealed by our Lord Jesus Christ is Father and a very compassionate One. He is always concerned about the comfort of His children. Of course, He disciplines and trains them to be responsible and not 'spoilt' children. Above all, God wants the comfort of His children in all situations. Our Lord Jesus is called "Wonderful Counselor'. And as He was about to depart the earth He introduced to His disciples the Holy Spirit as the 'Comforter' (see John 14:26). This shows how much God desires the comfort of His children.

Go into today knowing that God wants your comfort. And if you are going through painful times, seize the opportunity to know and experience the amazing comfort of the Father in a unique way. Allow Him speak to your heart and transform you to minister far-reaching comfort to others.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to open up for your comfort. Let Your Holy Spirit work in me so I can also be a channel to spread your compassion to people around me. Amen

BE GOOD

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/kYYhJv

Matt 10:40

"Those who welcome you are welcoming me. And when they welcome me they are welcoming God who sent me.

TLB

Pa Arokoyo did not understand why things were going so well for the Bode family. He observed that all their children, both home and abroad, did exceptionally well; most of them knew the lord, and unlike his children, they cared for their parents and provided for them much more than they needed. As Pa Arokoyo further enquired into why the Bode family was the most blessed in their village, he learnt that once upon a time, when the Christian missionaries first arrived their village, no one but the bode family took them in and accepted their message. Their grandfather was very good to the missionaries, and today his descendants are enjoying unrivalled blessings because of His good acts.

Has it ever occurred to you that many things you do today will not only affect your life but will affect that of your generations to come? The bible says ‘a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children’ (see Prov 13:22). The best kind of inheritance you can leave for your children is (spiritual) blessings that thieves and enemies cannot touch, steal or destroy.

Go into today determining to do things you know attract God’s blessings. Be good to everyone; be especially good to God’s people and those you know are serving the lord(see Gal 6:10). Do this not just because of the blessings but because it is in keeping with your new nature as a child of God.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your word. I pray you help me express your nature in my conduct, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

WHAT GRACE IS NOT

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/6QCx1t

Titus 2:11-12

11. For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. 12. It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world.

AMP

A conversation went thus:

Gideon: when I sin, I ask for forgiveness and believe God will forgive me.

Daniel: no! God has forgiven you already; you don't have to ask for it again.

Gideon: I don't agree with you.

Daniel: I'll explain, I live under grace and I believe that since the day I gave my life to Christ he washed away my sins and I can no longer sin, even if I sin, it is not considered as sin any longer because grace covers me.

Grace does not excuse a sinner; it does not make you free from judgment when you remain in sin. Grace does not say “sin but don't worry, I've paid for it already”, Grace says “repent and I'll teach you to stay away from sin". Note brethren that sin is sin in the New Testament as much as it is in the old. The grace of God empowers you to live above sin; it does not encourage you to continue in sin.

Go into today knowing that the grace of God does not excuse sin, rather, it teaches you to live a righteous, godly and sober life.

Prayer: thank you father for your word. As I submit to grace, please help me by your Holy Spirit to live above sin, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE CROSS

image

Follow this link to listen to the AUDIO VERSION:

http://po.st/glZC34

Matt 16:24

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me…”

ESV

Easter is the day Christians all over the world have chosen to celebrate the resurrection of our lord from the dead. He rose from the dead that you may no longer live under the fear of death. He rose that we may live and have life in its abundance. He conquered death that death might not conquer you.

Anyone who must follow Christ and be fruitful must understand the principle of the cross. If Christ died for our sins that we may have reconciliation with God, we must also die to the flesh that we may have fellowship with God (see Rom 8:8). Jesus clearly states that "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me…”-Matt 16:24.

Taking up your cross means dying to the flesh and walking in the spirit. Dying to the flesh is never pleasing to the flesh, that is why it is called crucifying the flesh; and this is the only way you can please God.

Before you get honey, you must deal with the bees, before the Canaan land, there was the red sea. Before the glory, Jesus endured the cross. The cross is the only road to the throne. Any other road leads to destruction.

Finally brethren, human strength cannot carry the cross, it is only Christ that can, therefore look unto him and depend on him (Heb 12:2).

Prayer: Father, please open my eyes to the message of the cross and strengthen me to carry it faithfully in Jesus name. Amen.

TRUE CHRISTIAN UNITY

image

click this link to listen to the AUDIO VERSION: http://po.st/ejnyy8

1 Cor 12:12-13

12 For just as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body - though many - are one body, so too is Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Whether Jews or Greeks or slaves or free, we were all made to drink of the one Spirit.

NET

“We are members of the body of Christ”. I heard this phrase so many times growing up as a Christian. The implication of this truth is that Christians are to be the most united people in the entire universe because we are all members of one body. Sadly, I have also observed that the relationship between many Christian organizations is usually characterized by anything but unity.

We see from our text that it is in one spirit that we are baptized into one body. The key to real Christian unity is the Holy Spirit. When Christians are conscious of being filled with the Holy Spirit, they will individually discover that they agree more and walk more in unity. We don't achieve unity in the body by merely talking about unity; we achieve it by individually being filled with the Holy Spirit. This applies to homes as well.

Go into today knowing that being filled with the spirit is something you can consciously decide to do; it means allowing the Holy Spirit permeate your life and world: Read Ephesians 5:18-21

Prayer: Heavenly father, I desire to be filled with the spirit always, and I know you want this for me too. I pray you help me stay filled with the spirit always, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

ABUSE OF GRACE?

image

AUDIO VERSION LINK:

2 Corinthians 6:1

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. KJV

Sometime ago, I saw a group of people praying with zeal and enthusiasm and I said to myself “what becomes of this crowd who don't know Jesus?” sadly, the answer is, they'll go to hell if they don't repent.

But then I have this other worry which is “what becomes of the crowd in church today who still don't know Jesus personally?” This people flow with the crowd, they were baptized, some even eat the communion but they are not know by God, some have the grace of being born into Christian homes but have not experienced the redeeming power of Christ.

This could be you; will you take this privilege for granted? Do you want to end up with the ungodly? God forbid! God has given you the first grace of being born into a Christian home, will you abuse it? Millions were born into paganism; they don't have the opportunity you have.

Brothers and sisters, be aware that he is not a Christian who is born into a church going home, but a Christian is one who has left all to follow Christ. Make up your mind to sincerely follow him, it pays to serve Jesus.

IF I PERISH, I PERISH

Esther 4:16

"Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Sushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the King, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

KJV

In Sushan, it was not customary or according to law for anyone to approach the king's inner chambers uninvited. The consequence of such violation could be death (see Est 4:1-17). Before Esther could approach the king's inner chambers, she made one decision, and it was "If I perish, I perish”.

There is a point in the life of every Christian where he has to make a crucial decision to sustain the tempo of his spiritual growth. When he reaches that point, self-love must die.

Folks, as we serve God faithfully, when the time for us to take a bold step with God comes, let us not confer to flesh and blood. He who will save his life will lose it (Matt 16:25).

The irony of things is that the said life you think you will lose, when you take a step with God, you will gain it, even though the flesh will resist this. Therefore walk in the Spirit, resist the devil and you will have your testimony. Check out the lives of Joseph, Shedrach, Meshach, Abadnego, Daniel, Abraham and Moses. These patriarchs of faith trusted God and today they are remembered for their great faith and great testimonies.

Go into today with every determination to render a service unto God devoid of self-love. Prayer: Tell God to take you to the place of your destiny, and give you grace to please Him in all regards.

THERE’S GLORY TO COME

image

Audio Version Link:

http://po.st/yrGIrK

Rom 8:18

18 For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed to us.

NLT

Aisha was sixteen when she gave her life to Christ. The next ten years of her life was hell on earth; her parents did everything within their power to cause her to come back to their faith, when they did not succeed, they resulted to persecuting her in ways that are unimaginable. There was a night her father woke her up by pouring boiling water on her two legs. She was beaten several times, her parents stopped paying her school fees…she was persecuted for Christ’s sake.

The story of Aisha is not very unusual in certain parts of the world today. I want to use today’s devotional to encourage anyone who is going through persecution because of faith in Christ Jesus. I want you to remember that your present sufferings cannot even be compared to the glory that will be revealed to you. You have been called into a kingdom that is eternal, you have made the wisest choice to follow Jesus and you will reap the benefits for all of eternity.

Go into today knowing that everything in this realm of existence is temporary (see 2 Cor 4:18) and God is bringing you into the realm that never ends, in this realm, you are unexplainably glorious.

Let us remember to pray for our brethren who are facing persecutions because of the faith; that the grace of the lord will abound toward them, that they will not be discouraged.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for saving and giving me a heritage in your eternal kingdom. I pray you help me walk daily in the reality of this, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
