Working out your salvation

Broadcast 3836

Phil 2:12-13 (NET) So then, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, continue working out your salvation with awe and reverence, 13 for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort - for the sake of his good pleasure - is God.

A newborn baby has nothing to do with his birth. His birth was not a product of his will, but that of his parents. When the child is born, naturally, he would want to live and not die. That is the natural instinct, and his system does everything possible to keep him alive.

As the child grows older, he continues to have the will to live, but there are certain things that he would have to do if he wants to live a healthy life. For example, his parents would instruct him to be careful with what he puts in his mouth and not eat certain harmful substances, but whether this happens is ultimately his decision not theirs.

So it is with spiritual life. Your salvation and spiritual birth is not a function of your will, works or any such thing. It is a product of God’s will and grace (John 1:13, Eph 2:8-9). You have been born again and brought into God’s kingdom. But to stay alive and healthy, you will have to continually yield to God’s will through obedience and faith.

Go into today knowing that the reason you can work out your salvation is because God has worked it into your spirit and eternal destiny. Your glorious destiny is a partnership between God and you. You are not alone.
Ask the Lord to help you always yield to His will and leading.

The Book of Life

Broadcast 3835
Rev 3:5-6 (NET) The one who conquers will be dressed like them in white clothing, and I will never erase his name from the book of life, but will declare his name before my Father and before his angels. The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

According to Revelation 17:8 and Revelation 13:8, names written in the book of life were written there since the foundation of the world. The reason it is possible for a person to be saved is because his name was written in the book of life. But if a person rejects Christ, his name will be erased from the book of life. Human free will is a very powerful eternal force.

There are two ways people reject Christ. The first way is when they hear the gospel and are given the opportunity to receive Christ, but they reject the opportunity each time until their time on earth is done. Jesus teaches us that the reason why people reject the light is because their deeds are evil (see John 3:19). This is a profound doctrine that I hope we would be able to revisit more comprehensively.

The second way people reject Christ is when, after they have received Him, they turn their backs on Him and practically stop believing in Him (see 2 Pet 2:20, Heb 10:26-29, 1 John 5:16, John 15:6, Mat 5:13, Heb 6:4). This is one of the scariest things that can happen on earth, but it happens. The easiest way people set themselves on this path is by continuing in willful disobedience to God, and rebellion against constituted spiritual authority. Many Christians in Sardis were going to be in danger of this if after hearing the Lord’s direct warning concerning their error they did not repent but continued to slumber into spiritual death (see Revelation 3:1-6).

Go into today asking God to keep you from the evil one [the deceiver], and to deliver you from [doing] evil (Mat 6:13).

Look! An Open Door

Broadcast 3834
Rev 3:7-9(NET) "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write the following: "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the True One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open: 8 'I know your deeds. (Look! I have put in front of you an open door that no one can shut.) I know that you have little strength, but you have obeyed my word and have not denied my name.

Folakemi wanted an open door so much because she understood that an open door meant opportunities for greater blessings and promotions. She did not know that an open door was already set before her. Her problem was that she couldn’t see it. She was working in a place where she literally had to deal with thousands of campus students every week, and they all held her in very high esteem. When her eyes were opened, she saw that her influence over the students was an opportunity for her to do what the Lord had been impressing on her heart for years.

It is worthy of note that Jesus told the saints in Philadelphia to ‘LOOK! I have put in front of you an open door’. One of the biggest problems hindering people from walking into open doors is that they have not seen the doors set before them by the Lord.

An open door represents every new great opportunity provided for you to make spiritual and physical increases. One very important thing about this is that you have to see it. Secondly, you have to understand that if a particular door has been opened for you by the Lord, no person or devil can close it. This is the confidence you need to walk into your open doors.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you see every open door set before you in this season of your life. Ask for wisdom to make the best use of every opportunity set before you.

The True Synagogue

Broadcast 3833
Rev 3:9 (NET) Listen! I am going to make those people from the synagogue of Satan - who say they are Jews yet are not, but are lying - Look, I will make them come and bow down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.
In the letters to the seven Churches, this is the second time the Lord is referring to a Jewish synagogue as the synagogue of Satan (see Rev 2:9). Indeed, those synagogues were built to be synagogues of God, but when God came in Christ and was rejected, God was no more in their synagogues but now dwells in the church (His people). And because the synagogues that were built to contain God were now vacant of God’s presence, Satan took advantage of the vacancy.

When God is rejected from any temple that was built to contain Him, Satan invites himself and takes over. Human beings were created to contain the presence of God, but when people reject Christ, they become tools in the hands of Satan, whether they know it or not.

It was important that the Lord assured the saints about the fact that they were now His people and that people who claimed to be His people, but who opposed the church, were not His people but people who served Satan. The saints in Philadelphia needed this assurance because of unbelieving Jews who tried to make them feel that they were inferior before God as ‘Gentiles’. But the Lord now made it clear that the Christians are the superior ones, and it will be clear throughout eternity.

Go into today knowing that if you are in Christ, there is no one anywhere who is superior to you. We are born of God and royal members of His family - co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).

Because You Have Kept My Admonition

Broadcast 3832
Rev 3:10 (NET) Because you have kept my admonition to endure steadfastly, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
As Femi started to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting for the year, one of the first things he did was to ask the Lord what improvements he needed to make in his life to walk better in pleasing the Lord. He sensed the Lord leading him to be more committed to prayers that year. When he got to church in the evening, he received a confirmation of that admonition. It was now clear to Femi that he needed to set aside some time every night to pray and spend time with the Lord.

In today’s Bible text, Jesus talked about an hour of testing. In 1 Cor 7:26, Apostle Paul also made reference [by the spirit of prophecy] to an Impending crisis. History has it that around that period, Christians everywhere were persecuted by the mighty Roman Empire which ruled the world. The Empire made it a duty to persecute and kill Christians everywhere, and they used their very vast resources to do this. But the Church in Philadelphia would be spared from this testing because they always kept the Lord’s admonition to them.

The Lord has the power to preserve His own from global or national occurrences that appear inescapable. When a person honors the Lord, the Lord honors him and dedicates special resources for His peace and prosperity(see 1 Sam 2:30). The church at Philadelphia honored the Lord and Kept His admonition. Because of this, they were spared.

I do not know what admonition you have recently received from the Lord, but as you go into today, be determined to keep the Lord’s admonition, and see His preserving grace and power multiply in every area of your life.

Your Crown 2

Broadcast 3831
Rev 3:11 (NET) I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one can take away your crown.

Nkechi knew she was supposed to be singing and using her beautiful voice to edify many and draw them to the kingdom of God. But she was too busy with her bank job to think about that.

One day, she lost her job and had to pray to the Lord to help her find another one or find something productive to do. As she prayed, she knew that her prayers were not going anywhere. She started asking the Lord why she didn’t feel the flow of His Spirit and the normal assurance she would receive when she prayed.

The next day, she heard her pastor preaching from John 15. He said that the reason many Christians do not see answered prayers is because they are not fruitful (see John 15:16). He went on to define fruitfulness as when your life produces the fruit of the spirit and also when it produces the fruit of God’s investment in you. The pastor now went on to use singing as an example. That if a Christian hides (ignores) his talent and ministry, that Christian is not fruitful.

Nkechi broke down in tears and repented. She knew she had been playing with her crown and walking in disobedience. The next week, she applied to join the choir.

Many Christians are walking in half of their spiritual authority and power because they are not fully walking in their calling. They don’t realize that the reason the men of God [they run to] are walking in more spiritual authority is because they are more fully committed to their calling. Not necessarily because they are more holy.

Go into today knowing that your crown signifies authority. Christians give away their authority when they are more committed to serving mammon than serving God.

Ask the Lord to help you in this regard.

Your Crown

Broadcast 3830

Rev 3:11 (NET) I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one can take away your crown.

When Christ returns to take over the government of this world (Rev 11:15), He will not rule the entire earth alone, but will rule and judge with His saints (see 1 Cor 6:2-3). He will apportion territories and dominion according to our kingdom ranking. Some will be given ten cities to rule while some will be given 5, etc. (see Luke 19:11-19). Your ranking and reward is based on how you are faithful with the little God has entrusted to you in this time (see Luke 16:10).

I believe one reason we would be given crowns is because we will be given territories to rule. Crowns are given to rulers; they are not just symbols for reward.

God does not do anything without first concluding it in the realm of eternity. Your lot and portion in the kingdom of God (including your crowns) have been concluded from before the foundation of the world. If you fulfill your calling here on earth by yielding to God’s foreordained will through obedience to His word and Spirit, you will receive your crown of dominion, and territories to rule in the coming kingdom. But if for some reason, you refuse to align your will with the will of God to fulfill your calling, like the unfaithful servant in Luke 29:23-24, what you have (your throne and crown) will be given to someone else. There can be no vacant throne in the coming kingdom.

Go into today knowing that God wants you to fulfill your destiny more than you want to fulfill it. Ask the Lord to deliver you from all [satanic] deception and procrastination. Ask him to lead you in the path of righteousness [and destiny] for His name’s sake.

Pillars In God's Temple

Broadcast 3829
Rev 3:12-13 (NET) The one who conquers I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never depart from it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from my God), and my new name as well. 13 The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Unlike walls or furniture, pillars are very important and more permanent structural elements in any building. In heaven, the throne of God dwells within the temple of God (see Isiah 6:1). God rules the universe from there.

David said by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit “…and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever ” (see Psa 23:6). When the Lord says He will make those who conquer to be pillars in the temple of God, He is saying overcomers will never be removed from the presence of God for all eternity. Saints are not just called to be people who will dwell closely with God for part of eternity, but we will dwell in the house of the Lord for all eternity.

In heaven, being in the presence of God is a very, very great honor, and it means great authority. Angels brag about this (see Luke 1:19). We who overcome are going to be pillars in the temple of God. This means we are not just going to be part of God’s presence, but we are going to be important parts of God’s temple. I am talking about the God who is the creator and Sustainer of the universe; the God whose power and glory cannot be comprehended by the human mind.

I don’t know what we ever did or could ever do to deserve this great honor and glory that God has destined for us; it is an unmerited favor.

Go into today thanking the Father for the great love He has lavished upon you; that you should become a son of God (see 1 John 3:1).

Confession: I am an overcomer in Jesus' Name. I will inherit everything God has prepared for me in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Beast From the Sea

Broadcast 3828
Revelation 13:1(ASV) And he stood upon the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns, and seven heads, and on his horns ten diadems, and upon his heads names of blasphemy.
Read Revelation 13:1-10
In this scripture, we witness the immense sway and dominion of the beast over the earth. The beast was granted the authority to wage war against the faithful. This battle against the saints takes on various forms, ranging from misleading them into false beliefs or outright renunciation of their faith to the physical persecution of Christians. It is through the influence of the beast that Satan brings harm to Christians. The crucial inquiry here isn't about identifying the beast or pinpointing its arrival, but rather, will we yield to this beastly sway that vies for our loyalty?

Dear friend, there is a beastly influence, invisible to the human eye, that has been released over our campuses, offices, the political sphere and even the church, too powerful for any human resistance. This beastly influence challenges the authority of God in our lives. How does the beast conquer the saints? Whenever a Christian denies Jesus in the face of persecution or abandons the faith due to pressure, he has given in to the beastly influence. This influence also encourages believers to live habitually in sin.

The way you will overcome the power of the beast is 'by the blood of the lamb and the word of your testimony' (see Rev 12:11). The blood cleanses you from all sin; removing the leverage and license the beast would have had over you.

The word of your testimony is the word of God that has become Rhema to you. These are God’s promises that have become your own [through revelation].

Go into today knowing that you have been given power over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). If you remain in Christ Jesus, you are the overcomer.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me. I ask that you help me always walk in your light and conquer the forces of darkness against me. Amen.

Intimidation

Broadcast 3827
Nehemiah 6:9 (HT) “For they were all trying to intimidate us, saying, “they will all become discouraged in the work, and it will never be finished.” But now, my God, Strengthen me.”

One of the strategies the enemy employs to hinder what God is doing in your life is elaborately shown in Nehemiah’s experience, and that is intimidation. The devil tries to do everything possible to introduce fear into your life thus intimidating you out of God’s will and plan for your life.

There’s only one way to deal with the enemy’s intimidation: know who you are in Christ and stand firm. Stand firm on God’s promises for your life. Practice living in faith and walking with God in your daily life. Stay in constant communion with the Holy Spirit, meditate on the word and focus on God. Surround yourself with men and women of faith. As long as you are in this world, the enemy will try to intimidate you and challenge your faith. There is a need to be steadfast in your faith as you plant your hope in heaven above. Learn to focus on God and not on your immediate surroundings. Search the scriptures and find ways to strengthen your faith and grow in faith.

Never give in to fear, fear will make you wander out of divine covering, stand firm and trust God. Never forget that “The eternal God is thy dwelling-place, and underneath are the everlasting arms...” (Deuteronomy 33:27) The enemy can’t touch you when you are in His arms.

The Church and the World

Broadcast 3826

Revelation 3:14-15 (ESV) "To the angel of the church in Laodicea, write the following: 'This is the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God's creation: I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot!

In Laodicea, there was a stream whose source was not far from the city. This stream originated from a hot water spring, which gave the water a distinctive salty taste. It was best consumed either hot or cold.

However, by the time the spring water reached Laodicea, it had cooled, becoming lukewarm. Drinking it lukewarm was unpleasant and could even induce vomiting.

Regrettably, the church in Laodicea had taken on the characteristics of this water, having become lukewarm.

Christians become lukewarm when they fellowship with the world and begin to gradually conform to the world. The atmosphere of the world is contrary to our faith. This means we must be careful not to conform to the world when we interact with the world.

Many Christians have become worldly because their perspectives are shaped more by worldly things than by the Word of God. This happens when Christians continue to associate closely with the world. When a Christian becomes worldly, they lose their spiritual fervor and become lukewarm.

Lukewarm Christians can hinder the advancement of the kingdom of Christ, offering a poor representation of Him on Earth.

Today, let's seek the Lord's help in maintaining our fervor and relevance in His kingdom. Beware of conforming to the culture and patterns of this world. Let the words of Christ be the manual that dictates your culture and traditions.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please empower me to remain fervent for You and guard against becoming lukewarm. Amen.

The Originator of God's Creation

Broadcast 3825
Rev 3:14-15 [NET] "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write the following: "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God's creation.

Kandra found it very difficult to believe that the man she met at the reception was the CEO of that big company she visited. He didn’t have any air of pride around him, was very polite and gave her directions when she asked for the HR department.

Shola: I think you have met our CEO. I just saw you talking with him on my security video feed.

Kandra: No way! That man I talked to was a receptionist. He told me how to get here.

Shola: He is indeed our CEO. You see, on some Mondays like this, he leaves his office on the top floor and goes to any of the lower departments to work. He says this helps him to better understand all the units of production.

Kandra became uncomfortable and even nervous. She still did not fully believe Shola until the next time she visited the company, and this time she saw the CEO in all his glory.

It has been very hard for many to accept that Jesus is God come in the flesh because of the way He came and lived humbly among us. For many, when they realize this truth, it would be too late to accept the salvation, peace and divine glory He came to restore to mankind.

In today’s Bible text, we see the Lord introducing Himself as the originator of God’s creation. It is only through Him that you can fellowship with the Father and receive power to fulfill your glorious eternal destiny.

Go into today thanking the Lord for coming to help you. Pray for your loved ones who do not yet know Him.

Neither Hot Nor Cold

Broadcast 3824
Rev 3:16-17 (NET) So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth! 17 Because you say, "I am rich and have acquired great wealth, and need nothing," but do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.

The church in Laodicea was lukewarm because they had become worldly. This worldliness manifested in their focus on material things rather than eternal things.

You see, you can focus all your spiritual energy (use the power of grace and faith) on only earthly riches, when its real purpose was for eternal riches. Earthly riches are but an addendum.

When a Christian focuses on physical wealth instead of the kingdom of God, chances are that he will get what he wants if he is well taught on how to apply all the [spiritual] principles. But such a Christian will be spiritually impoverished. His pitiful state will be obvious when real life begins in our eternal kingdom.

The church in Laodicea boasted and thought they were doing fine because they had physical wealth, but they did not know that their true spiritual state was pitiful; they were wretched, poor, blind, and naked.

It is not possible to serve God and mammon (see Matt 6:4). Unfortunately, many Christians have been overtaken by the love of money, and this has made them unfruitful in the kingdom.

Go into today knowing that if your goal in life is no longer centered on advancing in the kingdom of God, you are now serving mammon.

Those who serve God understand that life is a privilege to serve, please and know God in this realm and time; a realm that presents the opportunity to be conformed to God’s image and become His son for eternity (see John 1:12, Rom 8:19). They understand that even money is a means to this end, not the end in itself.

Buy gold from me

Broadcast 3823
Rev 3:18 (NET)...take my advice and buy gold from me refined by fire so you can become rich! Buy from me white clothing so you can be clothed and your shameful nakedness will not be exposed, and buy eye salve to put on your eyes so you can see!

Femi had believed in the Lord Jesus and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. He had also been properly taught and knew how to wield his spiritual power of faith. Unfortunately, all he really wanted out of life was more and more money, he didn’t care much about the kingdom of God. He just wanted to get more money in life. This was all he used his faith [spiritual power] to acquire.

If a Christian spends his life serving mammon, he is buying what the devil has to offer. He may or may not be rich in this world, but he is poor in the kingdom of heaven because he has spent his life serving mammon at the expense of serving God.

When a Christian spends his life serving God, he is buying what Jesus offers (see Rev 3:18). He may or may not be rich in this world, but he is rich in the kingdom of God because he has spent his life acquiring true riches that will last for all eternity.

Do not forget that God knows the things you need even before you know you need them. The cattle on a thousand hills belong to Him (Ps 50:7). This means at any time, God has at least 1000 ways of providing for you [when you seek Him above all else]. When God makes you rich, He adds no sorrow to it.

Go into today knowing that as a child of God, you have the purchasing power. You can either choose to spend your spiritual capital seeking mammon and earthly riches or spend it seeking the kingdom and eternal wealth of Christ.

GOD’S DISCIPLINE 2

Broadcast 3822

Revelation 3:19 (NET) All those I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent!

Remi was a very sickly person. When she received the Lord Jesus and was baptized in the Holy Spirit, she was no longer sickly but became very healthy.

A time came that she became overtaken by a dieting fad. She started to believe that her diet was all that mattered with regard to her good health. Because of this, her faith for health was now in her good diet and no more in the finished work of Christ. Because of this, she became very sickly again.

After doing everything she knew, including prayers, Remi concluded that her depreciating health was God’s will. But she was very wrong.

Good diet is good, and it is God’s will for His children to be careful with what they eat and how they live. But when Christians follow diets so much that they forget that it is ultimately the power of Christ that is responsible for keeping them in good health, they would walk out of God’s divine health and make themselves absolutely responsible for their health. This means when an affliction is spiritually orchestrated, they would be vulnerable.

Many Christians go through situations that are a result of their spiritual ignorance, but many erroneously conclude that ‘it is the discipline of the Lord’ or 'it is the will of the Lord’.

Go into today knowing that when God disciplines His children, it is to bring out the best in them, not to destroy them.

GOD’S DISCIPLINE

Broadcast 3821

Rev 3:19 (NET) All those I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent!
Audu was from a polygamous family. He had many brothers and sisters. As Audu grew up, he realized that it was because his father loved him so much that he gave him special attention and discipline. This became evident when his father bequeathed him the largest share of his estate, much more than anyone else in the family received or even knew existed.

So when Audu read Bible verses that talk about the Lord disciplines those He loves, it was easy for Audu to understand (see 1 Cor 11:32, Deut 8:5, Heb 12:5-11, etc)

In Prov 3:11, we see that it is possible for us to despise the discipline of the Lord. The easiest way many Christians do this is by denying that there is such a thing. But if you are walking in fellowship with God, you will know when your Father is not pleased, and you will be able to discern when the things happening in your life are because your Father is not pleased.

Despising God’s discipline may be trying to use your spiritual power of faith to ‘cast and bind’, turning a blind eye to the fact that there is the need for repentance and alignment with God (see Prov 16:17), but insisting that you have your way [like a spoilt child throwing tantrums when disciplined]. Many times, our loving Father may withdraw the discipline and give the child what he wants because of his constant crying, but the bitter truth is that that child has failed to learn and grow more into the likeness of Christ. This will ultimately make him unfit for the greater glory God wants to bring his way.

Go into today knowing that the way to respond to the Lord’s discipline is by repenting (See Rev 3:19).

Ask the Lord to help you know when He is disciplining. Ask the Lord to help you grow into the fullness of Christ (Eph 4:13).

JESUS IS KNOCKING

Broadcast 3820
Rev 3:20-22 (NET) Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me. 21 I will grant the one who conquers permission to sit with me on my throne, just as I too conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

From when he was in the university, Ikenna knew that there was a call of God upon his life. He knew he would have to seek God for clearer specifics and details, but this never occurred.

Immediately after he graduated from the university, he participated in his country’s mandatory youth service corps for one year. During that period, he had several opportunities to seek the face of the Lord, but he spent all that time searching for opportunities for a 'better life'. He spent all his time applying for jobs and scholarships to various graduate programs in university campuses around the world, but he relegated God’s call on his life to the background. All the while, Jesus was still knocking.

By the time Ikenna turned 49, he looked at his life and all his achievements, but he knew he had missed out on his divine destiny. He had spent the best years of his life chasing money. He had a feeling of emptiness that could not be described.

We see in today’s Bible text that the one who conquers will sit with Christ on His throne. Christ will rule the entire universe, and those who conquer will rule and reign with Him on His throne.

Many Christians have been deceived to think that escaping hell and making heaven is the ultimate goal; they fail to realize that God did not just destine us to see the kingdom; He destined us to inherit the kingdom. Conquerors are not those who just escaped hell; they are those who conquered life for Christ: they are those who conquered territories for Christ and fulfilled their divine destinies. When the Lord returns, He will reward everyone according to the work they have done. Are you using your talents for the advancement of God’s kingdom now?

GRACE AND RICHES

Broadcast 3818
2 Corinthians 8:9 (NET) For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.

In every human society, there is a level of respect that wealthy individuals command, which those who are not affluent may not receive. What many do not know is that it is also so in the spirit realm. Some individuals possess a depth of spiritual riches that grants them significant influence in the spiritual realm. These are people whose words are powerful in that realm (see Acts 19:15).

The riches of Christ are true riches. The wealth of this world cannot compare to it. Anyone who has the riches of Christ is rich indeed. It means even on this earth, his riches in glory can speak for him. However, someone who possesses wealth only in this world may be spiritually destitute (see Rev 3:17). Even the least powerful demon can bring misery to their life and strip them of all they possess in just a few days.

Even though Jesus was wealthy, for your sake, He chose poverty, so that through His own lack, He could bestow richness upon you. The wealth that the saints will inherit when the Lord returns is beyond comparison to anything we can imagine, and these riches will endure for all eternity. Those who will receive the riches that Christ brings are those who know His grace (see 2 Cor 8:9). The grace of the Lord is a spiritual substance that empowers people from the inner man ( see Phil 1:25, Gal 6:18). It diminishes the appetite for sin. It is the reason why a nonentity in life can become somebody. This very power can truly enrich your life.

Go into today knowing that the secret to your spiritual and physical wealth is knowledge of Christ’s grace. This grace is infused into your spirit by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Pray for grace to multiply in your life starting today (see 2 Pet 1:2).

PROPHETS GIVE WITNESS

Broadcast 3818
Acts 10:43 (KJV) To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

One of the reasons it took thousands of years after Adam before Jesus could be manifested was because the prophets who would prophesy concerning His coming and create the spiritual framework for His manifestation on the earth had to come first. John the Baptist was the last of them to come before Christ (see Mat 17:10-13). All the prophets from Enoch to John the Baptist bore witness to His coming, and they released words into the earth (from the heart of God) that would make it possible for Christ to be revealed. In preparation for Christ’s coming, the word of God had to be constantly released by the prophets for thousands of years. Jesus is the word made flesh.

A prophecy is different from a prediction or word of knowledge. A prophetic word is creative, and the prophet usually speaks for the Lord when he prophesies. You may hear something like “Thus says the Lord…” and then the prophet begins to speak as if he is the Lord. A good example is “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more…” (Isaiah 43:25). That was Isaiah speaking for the Lord (prophesying).

When a person tells you what you ate yesterday, or tells you your house address, that is a word of knowledge; a manifestation of a prophetic gift, but that is not a prophecy. A seer sees things and hears things, but a prophet receives inspiration and speaks for God. He releases words into territories upon which the manifestation of God’s agenda will ride. A prophet creates the spiritual frameworks for the physical manifestation of God’s will on the earth.

Go into today understanding that the prophetic office is very important and needed in the body of Christ today. Prophecies have the creative power that is God’s word.

DISCIPLESHIP 1

Broadcast 3817

John 1:20-21(NET) He came right out and said, "I am not the Messiah."  "Well then, who are you?" they asked. "Are you Elijah?" "No," he replied. "Are you the Prophet we are expecting?" "No."

John the Baptist was born to be the forerunner of Jesus Christ. He was the last prophet to be revealed before Jesus would be manifested.

John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah (Matt 17:10-13). This doesn't mean he was a reincarnation of Elijah, but rather, he carried the same divine authority and anointing. Surprisingly, John himself wasn't aware of this significant connection, as today's Bible text highlights.

I believe that God never told John that he had the anointing of Elijah because He had already told John’s father, and John’s father was probably expected to tell John (there was no instruction to the contrary). When the Angel appeared to John’s father to tell him about the birth of John, the angel told him that John would come in the spirit and power of Elijah (see Luke 1:17).

Interestingly, despite fulfilling his prophetic role, John didn't perform extraordinary miracles (see John 10:41). It's plausible that if he had recognized the full extent of his anointing, he might have displayed miraculous power similar to Elijah's.

Lessons from today’s meditation:
If you have a father in the Lord or discipler, there are some things the Lord may reveal to him about you that you may not know about yourself. Proper discipleship uncovers hidden potentials.

Spiritual power comes as a result of revelation. You may have the potential to do certain things but you may never do them if you do not know you have the ability.

Go into today asking the Lord to reveal who you are to you.

GOOD WORKS

Broadcast 3816
Eph 2:8-9 (NET) For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so that no one can boast.

"Pastor SD Abraham, could you please help me understand Ephesians 8:9 in the context of your recent devotional about 'THE TRUE FAITH'? It seems to state that our salvation isn't earned through our actions. So, why do you emphasize that faith must result in actions?"

When you continue reading after the verse you mentioned, Ephesians 2:10 explains that we've been designed in Christ Jesus for good deeds.

It's important to clarify that the works that come from your faith aren't lifeless actions driven by rules and regulations. Let's be straightforward: there's no 'good' deed that can buy your salvation. Goodness is intrinsically tied to God (Jesus emphasized this in Matthew 19:17), and God doesn't collaborate with you for His good works without faith in your heart.

Remember, the sole way we attain salvation is through faith in Christ Jesus. What Apostle James highlights in James 2 is that if this faith is alive, it naturally leads to actions as evidence of its vitality.

Therefore, we can distinguish between two types of works: THE WORKS OF THE FLESH (as mentioned in Ephesians 8:9) and THE GOOD WORKS OF FAITH (as referred to in Ephesians 8:10 and James 2:14).

If your faith doesn't inspire any good deeds, it's dead, because any living faith brings forth good works. God has summoned and equipped us to bear fruit, which we can identify as the good works that stem from faith.

Remember this throughout today: Just like a branch connected to a vine effortlessly yields fruit, you needn't struggle to produce good deeds if your faith is alive.

Confession: My faith is vibrant, and it naturally leads to good works in my life. Amen.

BEHOLDING CHRIST 2

Broadcast 3815
1 John 3:2 (NIV) Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

When you believe in Jesus and embrace Him as your Lord and Savior, you become a cherished child of God. In God's family, Jesus holds the place of honor as the firstborn (see Romans 8:29). Whatever He has gone through, we too will experience. This is God's design for His church. Through our union with Christ, we've been crucified with Him and raised to new life in the Spirit. God's grace empowers us to daily overcome our sinful nature and live in the Spirit. Just as Jesus rose with a glorified body, we too, when we believe in Him, will rise with glorified bodies during the rapture (see 1 Corinthians 15:52).

Although we can't fully grasp what we'll be like after our resurrection, we know one thing for sure: we'll be like the Lord. The splendor that will be revealed in us is beyond our human understanding, but through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we trust that we'll share in Christ's glory.

As you step into today, keep in mind that the rapture could occur at any moment. Just as Jesus lived on earth to fulfill His divine purpose, you too are called, with the Holy Spirit's assistance, to live out your unique purpose. The Holy Spirit's presence in your life is your assurance of being part of the rapture (see Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 1:22).

Prayer: Gracious Father, I'm grateful for Your grace that chose me for salvation. I pray for the strength to consistently walk in a manner worthy of my calling in You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

THE TRUE FAITH

Broadcast 3814
James 2:14 (NET) What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Can this kind of faith save him?

Claiming to be alive comes with breathing, a clear sign of life. Similarly, faith isn't just a word; it shows in how you live. But it's important to note, there's genuine faith and then there's a fake version. You can spot it by observing the way people who profess faith conduct their lives.

Many say they have faith in the Lord Jesus, yet their lives mirror their unbelieving days. Today's Bible text points out that this kind of faith won't save them. It's a counterfeit, not the genuine faith imparted by our Lord (see Jude 1:3).

One of the initial effects of genuine faith in your heart is seen in your words and your response to God's Word. Real faith influences what you say and how you say it. You'll no longer speak in ways that lack faith. A person with genuine faith is always aware of God's supreme presence, and this shapes their lifestyle.

Remember, the actions that spring from faith are acts of love. Let your words and deeds reflect your trust in the living God. Also, know you're never alone. God is keeping a watchful eye on you.

BEHOLDING CHRIST

Broadcast 3813
1 John 3:2 (NIV) …But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Daniel always wondered why David had unique mannerisms when he prayed or led prayers. When he finally visited David's church and saw their General Overseer in action, it all clicked. He realized that David and his friends were subconsciously imitating the style of their respected and admired leader.

The more you look upon a particular person with reverence and admiration, the more like that person you become. This happens unconsciously but it really happens to everyone.

In today’s Bible text, we see that we shall be like Christ when he appears, for we shall see Him as He is. Christ has put in you the nature and the ability to be like Him. This nature is activated when you behold Him.

Christians are to look unto Jesus always (see Heb 12:2). We are to behold the mirror of God’s word and see Christ who is the image of what we are to become (see 2 Cor 3:18). The more of Christ we see, the more of Christ we become.

Do you see Christ in your world; controlling everything? Or are you more conscious of what the devil is doing than what Christ is doing?

Go into today determined to live a Christ-centered life; bring Christ into all you do by always submitting to His government and Lordship, while giving thanks in all things. Remember that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (see Mat 28:18) so He is truly in control of everything in your life.

Prayer: thank you lord for calling me and making me your own. I pray you help me daily behold you more and more. Amen.

BE OF GOOD CHEER

Broadcast 3812
John 16:33 (KJV) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Temidayo was feeling overwhelmed by the constant stream of bad news on the TV. The level of insecurity in his country had reached alarming heights, and the recent news of a friend being kidnapped only intensified his anxiety. He couldn't shake off the thought: 'Could he be the next victim?'

Jesus had already warned us about the troubles and hardships we'd face in this world. I believe He did this so that we wouldn't be shocked or disheartened by the evil we witness. He also told us to 'be of good cheer,' even in the midst of tribulations.

As a Christian, you have a choice. You can either immerse yourself in the distressing news and let it bring you down, or you can focus on the good news of the gospel and let joy flood your soul. The greatest thing still happening in the world is the saving grace of Christ Jesus, and it surpasses all the evil around us.

When you dwell on the bad news and let it steal your joy, it also weakens your spiritual resolve. However, when you fix your thoughts on the positive and let gratitude generate true joy within you, your spirit grows stronger.

Approach today with a determination to be a joyful person, no matter the trials around you. Remember, joy and thanksgiving are always in line with God's will for you (see 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you always magnify Him in your life. Amen.

GOD'S COMMANDMENTS

Broadcast 3811

1 John 2:3 (NET) Now by this we know that we have come to know God: if we keep his commandments.

Nkechi shared, "Since I began taking my walk with God more seriously, I've noticed a remarkable positive shift in my life. There are things I simply wouldn't engage in anymore, and I've undergone a fundamental change in my nature. Instead of harboring hatred for people I used to, I now find myself filled with love. My perspective on life has also undergone a significant transformation. I wasn't always like this. I remember holding grudges with my sister for days on end. Today, that kind of behavior seems almost impossible."

Nkechi's secret was simply welcoming the word of God into her life. When it came to her, she embraced it without argument or resistance, and then adjusted her life accordingly. Now, when she looks back, she sees a remarkable and positive change. This transformation wasn't orchestrated or calculated; it emerged from the renewal of her mind through God's word.

The core of God's commandments is love. He's engraved His law in your heart and mind. When you walk closely with Him and submit to His guidance, you'll naturally find yourself living out His commandments; you'll discover yourself walking in love.

Go into today with a firm resolve to live your life under the guidance of Christ. Remember, you've been purchased at a great price, and your life now belongs to Christ.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the grace that guides me in your light. I pray for the strength to resist distractions and to keep growing in grace. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

BE JOYFUL ALWAYS

Broadcast 3810
1 Thess 5:16 (NIV) Be joyful always

Chinedu: Pastor, something strange is happening to me. I've been feeling spiritually weak lately. Temptations seem to have a stronger grip on me, and I've even been experiencing more frequent nightmares.

Pastor Dele: I expected as much.

Chinedu: Really? Why aren't you surprised?

P. Dele: Ever since you didn't pass that professional exam, I've noticed a change in your demeanor. Your usual cheerfulness and joy seemed to vanish. That's when I realized that your spiritual strength might start slipping away. I've been praying for you, Chinedu. You see, when the Bible says "be joyful always," it's not just advice; it's a command because the Lord knows that His joy gives us strength (see Nehemiah 8:10c).

Chinedu: So, how do I overcome this depression?

P. Dele: You can start by changing your perspective. Instead of dwelling on complaints and a sense of loss, why not express gratitude and remember all that the Lord has blessed you with? Remember, you worked hard to become a doctor, something many aspire to but never achieve. Think about all those who started medical school but couldn't finish.

Thanksgiving and praise are powerful tools to push away feelings of heaviness and fill your heart with God's presence. Don't let the devil deceive you. The fact that you're alive today is reason enough to be thankful. If Satan were as powerful as he claims, he would have taken your life long ago.

Spiritual strength is vital for every Christian, and a key to this is maintaining constant joy. It not only empowers you for spiritual battles but also opens the door to physical blessings (see Deuteronomy 8:18).

Go into today determining to be joyful by focusing and meditating on the goodness of the Lord.
Prayer: thank the Lord for all He has done for you.

MEDITATE ON GOD'S WORD

Broadcast 3809
Psalm 119:148 (KJV) Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

As I sat down to write this devotional, a strong sense came over me: it's high time we put a spotlight on spiritual growth. Today, let's dive into something crucial that fuels our spiritual progress.

Many Christians haven't explored the incredible benefits of dwelling on God's word. Let's really delve into this.

You might've heard people say, "I'm not sure how to meditate on the Word." But guess what? If you've ever worried, you already have a foundation for meditating on God's Word. Worrying is taking a negative thought and replaying it in your mind, which leads to fear. Similarly, when you take a piece of Scripture and roll it over and over in your thoughts, even saying it aloud, that's meditating on the Word, and it stirs up faith.

Anyone who's ever worried can meditate. Meditating on God's word is like fuel for your faith. Worry, on the other hand, fuels fear, which dampens faith and brings in darkness. Faith is your most powerful spiritual tool. It guarantees your triumph in life (check out Ephesians 6:16, 1 John 5:4b).

Why not give it a shot today: instead of fretting about a situation, find a verse from the Bible that relates and meditate on it.

Go into today determining to meditate on God's word that speaks into the situation you're facing. Take the time you'd usually spend worrying and redirect it towards meditating on God's word and His mighty power.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see wondrous things from Your word. Amen.
