RAISED UP BY HIS POWER

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1748

1 Corinthians 6:14(NET)
Now God indeed raised the Lord and he will raise us by his power.

Bill was about to commit suicide when he remembered that there was still one person in this world who truly cared for him. This person was his high school best friend who he had lost contact with.
Bill searched for Ben to no avail until he decided to use the help of a witch who was an expert at finding people. She asked for Ben’s name and date of birth and ran her demonic search. The results came back and she told Bill that Ben had died several years ago. She gave him Ben’s date of his death and his last address.
For some reason, Bill did not believe that Ben was dead so he kept searching for him until he got information that led him to Ben who was now a minister of the gospel.

A few days later, Bill told Ben about his visit to the witch and how she said he had died. What surprised them was that the address the witch gave was once Ben’s address, and the date she gave as Ben’s date of death was the date Ben was baptized in water.
Ben no longer existed in the demonic registry because of his baptism. This is a true story (names were changed).

By virtue of our new birth in Christ Jesus, we have become members of the body of Christ. As a result of this, everything that happened to Christ happens to us.

Through faith in Christ, we were crucified with Him and now live a life that is powered and sustained by Christ's faith and faithfulness (Galatians 2:20). Through Baptism, we were buried with Christ, have lost our old identity, and have received a new one that demons cannot understand (Romans 6:4). Since we have died with Christ and have been buried with Him, God will also raise us by His power just as He raised Christ into Glory.

Go into today remembering that because you have died with Christ and have been buried with Him, you will resurrect into His glory.

WHOSE TABLE ARE YOU EATING FROM?

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1746

1 Corinthians 10:21 KJV
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

I remember that meal times in the boarding house caused anxiety because there existed the possibility of one forfeiting his meal that day. Student diners must be assigned to a particular table and must be eaten according to schedule. Failure to comply with this arrangement, lateness or having incorrect cutleries, may result in a student going hungry that day.

Idolatry is an obvious error by those who claim to be believers but partake of the devil's table via activities such as using charms, occultism, soothsaying etc. There are also other subtler forms that are equally as bad as the more obvious one. Both are in danger of judgment and missing out on God’s kingdom (1 Cor 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 5:5-7).

In John chapter 6 verses 41,48,51,53 to 58, Christ unequivocally calls His flesh (The Word) food and His blood drink, which we must all partake of if we must have life. It then follows that by salvation and our subsequent meditation on the word, we eat from the Lord's Table. But by contrast, engaging in that (such as literature, audio or visual content) which appeals to sin and the flesh's sensuality (for example pornography) is us eating from the devil's table.

Go into today, partaking continuously of the Lord's Table with the strict diet of the word even in the face of adversity or doubt. As you do so, God's overflowing goodness and mercy will never depart from your life (Ps 23:5-6).
Prayer: Lord, please help me to feed only from your table and grow. Amen.

SAFEGUARD AGAINST ERROR

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1746

1 Corinthians 6:12-13 (KJV)
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

When Amaka's boyfriend found out that she was leaving him because of her faith in Christ, he tried to convince her to stay. He opened the Bible and read 1 Corinthians 6:12. He tried to persuade her that since she was free in Christ, all things were permissible for her.

She was almost convinced by his doctrine but knew in her spirit that continuing to live with him in sin was not the will of God, so she left even though she was quite confused.

When she discussed this confusion with her pastor, he made her understand that 'all things' talked about in 1 Cor 6:12 was within the context of the food we eat and nothing more.

I have counseled a lady whose 'Christian' fiancé was trying to convince her to commit immorality with him, and he was doing so using the Bible verses like the one above. It is dangerous when believers read the Bible but do not understand it. When the devil tempted Jesus, he was using phrases from the scripture, but Jesus was not deceived because he understood scripture even from when he was 12 years.

Go into today remembering that the biggest safeguard against error and mistakes is understanding the scriptures and knowing the power of God (see Matthew 22:29, Psalm 119:9).

Ask the Lord to give you the spirit of revelation and understanding so that you may grow in Him.

YOU HAVE BEEN WASHED

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1745

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NET)
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals,
thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God. Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

When Amaka accepted the Lord Jesus, she knew it was time for her to move out of her boyfriend’s house and end that ungodly relationship. But because her boyfriend was rich, she found it very difficult to leave him.

Three weeks had passed and she was still living with him. She started deceiving herself and telling herself that the way she lived her life didn’t matter, that all that mattered was her faith (She didn’t realize that the two could not be separated).

But one night, she dreamt that her filthy rags were changed into pure white clean clothes. But she went and sat down back into the mud from where she was raised. It was no ordinary dream.

The next morning, she packed her things and left her boyfriend’s house. She did this because she realized that she had been washed and cleansed, and continuing in sin was going to get her back into the bondage of the devil.

It is the deception of the devil that makes a believer think he can continue in his sins and inherit the kingdom of God. Jesus says "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven--only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven”(Matt 7:21).

Go into today remembering that as a person sanctified, even if you fall, you get cleansed and do not take your place in sin.

Ask the Lord to send eye-opening encounters and revelations to his children who may be going astray.

THE FAME OF HIS NAME 5

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1744

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

A difference exists between an ordinary citizen trying to settle a quarrel and one who is backed by the law. I watched as two young men grappled and held each other by the throat amidst pleas from onlookers for them to stop. They held on until a police van pulled up on the scene. Immediately, the young men were separated and in no time the squabble was squelched. They may not have agreed yet but they knew better than to persist with the fighting.

Christ isn't just an arbiter of peace; He is The Prince of Peace. If an ordinary officer with limited authority can halt a warring situation, how much more one who is Royalty and bears all authority (Ps 46:9)?

Peace isn't necessarily the absence of war but it is the prevailing calmness even in the midst of war which comes only from God (Phil 4:6-7). It isn't ordinary and we do not deserve it, but it came at the highest cost, paid in full by Christ Jesus. Therefore, by believing and receiving Him as our peace, we soar over the battles of life.

Go into today remembering that you serve the prince of peace.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to speak peace into every storm in or around your life.

Confession: My life is ruled by God’s peace. The peace of the Lord that passes all understanding fills my heart. All things in my life are working according to God’s plan, in Jesus name. Amen.

EXPERIENCING THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1743

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (NET)
Therefore “come out from their midst, and be separate,” says the Lord, “and touch no unclean thing, and I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” says the All-Powerful Lord.

While Chinedu was still mingling with the world and running his business as an unbeliever, he was still having episodes of spiritual attacks and nightmares. There was a night that he literally saw a demon come into his bedroom to torment and oppress him. He wondered why these things were still happening to him. He was told that if he accepted the Lord Jesus, he would become a child of God and would no longer be susceptible to his previous attacks, but that didn't really seem to be the case. He was still having experiences that made him doubt if the power of God was real in his life?

As he decided to abide in the Lord and not go back to the world, he realized that the Holy Spirit moved him to separate himself from his old friends who were unbelievers. He also observed that his faith became much stronger when he did this. With time, he woke up one morning and observed that his afflictions had all disappeared. He was so preoccupied with seeking the Lord and growing that he even forgot about them.

Many believers in the Lord Jesus today are not having the experiential reality of the fatherhood of God and they wonder why.

Today's Bible verse was written to believers who even though they had the motions corresponding to faith in Christ Jesus, they needed to understand that those who would enjoy the fatherhood dimension of relationship with God are those who are wholly separated unto the Lord. This means separation from friendship with the world and living with the consciousness that they are indeed different from the world around them.
Go into today deciding to live a life separated unto the Lord and experiencing the fatherhood dimension of the Lord God.

THE FAME OF HIS NAME 4

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

I visited an orphanage and realized for the first time that I had not been thankful enough for the gift of a good [earthly] father. In the orphanage, I met a four-year-old orphaned girl with a terminal heart disease. But despite her condition, she exuded the grace and confidence of one who had a good father, mother, or both. It was an orphanage but it felt as though I was in the presence of one from an aristocratic or royal family. I felt like adopting her.

Many have been hurt and are in need of healing because of experiences they've had with bad fathers, or because they cannot even relate with the concept of proper fatherhood. You may not have had a father at all, you may be one, you may have had a bad one or the one you have never planned to have you. Regardless of all these scenarios, if you believe in the Lord Jesus(accept His Lordship over your life), you will be adopted into the family of the everlasting Father (John 1:12-13, Rom 8:15).

Having the last name of the world's most powerful president or billionaire pales deeply in comparison to The everlasting Father's name you'll inherit (Eph 3:15). You will be called God's righteous one, light, God's temple, etc. and as you live your life as a reflection of these names, doors will unlock and things will align in your favor (2 Corinthians 6:14-16, Heb 10:38, Ps 16:6).

Go into today reminded that God loves you and wants to have a joyous father-child relationship with you. (Acts 4:12, Luke 15:17-24).

Prayer: Lord, help me live under the Lordship of Christ and walk in Your plan for me to be your child indeed. Amen.

THE FAME OF HIS NAME 3

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The dictionary defines the word mighty as possessing great and impressive power or strength, especially due to size while the word almighty means having complete power or being omnipotent. This title is reserved for God alone.

It is wonderful to know that the name of Jesus is also The mighty God. It then means that when He manifests in this name on your behalf, no one and nothing can defeat you. It doesn't matter how hopeless your life may seem, He is mighty to save you (Ps 24:8, Zep 3:17).

One of the greatest displays of God's mighty power was when He raised Jesus Christ from the dead. As believers, we have received the same Spirit behind that great power (Eph 1:19-20, Rom 8:11). This power is far-reaching enough to sustain the universe and is close enough to save you (Heb 1:3, John 3:16).

Many have been deceived into believing for less than what Christ died for. His death and resurrection opened a way for us by His name to do mighty works, but sadly, this is not often the case. One major reason for this is unbelief, and according to the bible, its presence limits the release of God's mighty power (Ps 78:41, Mk 6:5-6a KJV). The only cure for this is the Word (Rom10:17).

Go into today reminded that God is sovereign and His name is mighty to deliver. But unless you see yourself in the light of who you are in Christ and act accordingly by faith, you'd be limiting the mighty manifestation of His power (Judges 6:11-16).

REMAIN IN THE LORD

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1740

John 15:7 (NET)
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.

After Chinedu accepted the Lord Jesus, there was the temptation for him to go back to the world and not remain or abide in the Lord. But he read John 15 and realized that in order for him to be fruitful, he had to remain in the Lord. He knew this meant he had to leave his friends who were a bad influence on his faith. He also realized this meant he had to submit to the Lord and let the word of the Lord rule his life and even his business practices.

Many people in today's church are not fruitful and are lacking in spiritual might and power because they are not abiding in the Lord. Even though they attend church services, they are still in the world and not in Christ because they are still dominated by the principles of the world (1 John 2:16). You cannot abide in Christ and continue in the principles of this world.

Those who remain with the Lord are those that have a relationship with Him. They care about how the Lord feels and seek to please Him in all things. The word of God will abide in them. Because the Word is living and active, it would renew their minds and transform them into the image of Christ (Rom 12:2, 2 Corinthians 3:18). At this point, whatever they want would align with God’s will, so whatever they ask will be given to them.

Go into today remembering that it is only those who abide in the Lord that will be fruitful. They are those who heaven responds to their prayer.

Ask the Lord to help you abide in Him and be fruitful.

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Charles believed that when he found the woman he wanted to marry, he was set for marital bliss. Right away he met with the girl's parents and proceeded in a haste to do the wedding.

However, in failing to obtain some much needed premarital counsel, months into the wedding he and his wife were at the edge of divorce after several quarrels. It took God's grace and several marriage counseling sessions to save his marriage.

A counselor is one who gives advice for the purpose of guidance or one who represents as a legal defense. Jesus manifested this name (Rabbi) on earth as he taught and defended his disciples from attacks by the Pharisees, etc (John 1:38, Matt 12:1-8).

Ignorance kills, but through counsel, one can avoid errors that lead to disaster (Hosea 4:6, Pro 11:14). However, not all counsels are of God. For this reason, it is very expedient that the right counsel is received at all times. This can only be found through the Person of the Holy Spirit who is sent in Jesus' name to be our Counselor (John 14:26, Rom 8:26).

Therefore, for everything in life including the things we think are trivial, we must seek the counsel of the Spirit so that we can know the will of God and avoid walking in error.

Go into today knowing that the best counsel you will ever receive is to make Jesus your Lord and Savior. As you do so and abide in Him,  your victory in life is assured.

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Right from the announcement of His birth, through to His resurrection, Jesus was and is still a wonder. There are several accounts that left all in awe as He manifested the name "Wonderful" both in the Old and New Testament. In order to do the miraculous which defeats the enemy, the Lord manifests in this name (Exo 3:20, Job 9:10, Ps 77:14, Acts 4:30).

In life's overwhelming situations where the only way out is through an act of wonder, knowing Jesus's name as 'Wonderful' becomes very expedient. Unfortunately, many in ignorance still use His name in vain (fear or jest). But for us who believe, the power of attorney in His name to do wonders has been given (Exo 20:7, Mk 16:17-18).

It's good to note that wonders aren't random occurrences based on any man's choosing or by any particular pattern but they're events by God, suspending natural laws in order to make His name known. However, our anticipation and preparedness in faith are keys that help us as vessels to facilitate their occurrence.

God is glorious in holiness and fearful in praises. If we honor Him with our lives in holiness and praise, rather than in sin; murmuring and ingratitude, His wonders will follow us. (Exo 15:11, Josh 3:5).

Go into today, trusting God concerning that seemingly hopeless situation, and as you do so living in holiness and praise, He will in His perfect time, manifest wonders to transform your destiny for His glory.

THE MARK OF BELIEVERS

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1737

John 13:34-35 (NKJV)
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

When Omolara arrived in New York City for the first time, she was stranded because she couldn't reach her cousin who was to pick her up from the airport. She arrived 24 hours earlier than scheduled. Because of some issues with her bank, to her surprise, she couldn’t spend her money because it was still held up in her country’s local currency.

When it became clear to Omolara that she was going to be stranded in the airport with very little money, she called her pastor and told him of her plight. Thankfully, her pastor knew some brethren in that city that he could call. One of them had to leave her office early and drive for three hours to the airport to go and pick up Omolara.

When Omolara's cousin eventually got through to her 24 hours later, he was surprised to see that she was already comfortable and well settled. Because of the genuine love that he saw among Christians that day, he eventually became a believer.

The Warren's took Omolara into their home because through the testimony of a Christian brother they knew, they were sure she too was a sister.

'I was a stranger, and you invited me in' is one of the things the Lord will say to His sheep on that day (see Matt 25:34-40). Christians are people who love each other. It is in our divine DNA (1 John 4:7-8).

Go into today remembering that as far as heaven is concerned, anyone who is truly born of God will love his Christian brethren (see 1 John 3:10).

ABOUNDING IN FAITH

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1736

Colossians 2:6 - 7 (KJV)
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

In Luke 17:11-19 Jesus encountered ten lepers and cleansed them by His word. He started the healing process and expected them to continue in step with Him. This He did in order for them to learn an invaluable lesson (concerning abounding faith) as they sought wholeness from leprosy. But none of them passed this test except one. What went wrong?

Our walk with God must begin, continue and conclude through faith (Rom 1:17). We can't expect to enjoy the fullness of God's blessings if we start with faith but switch and try to finish in the flesh. The Bible calls that foolishness (Gal 3:3).

In desperation, many call on the Lord as the author of their faith but fail to continue in step with Him as the Finisher of their faith (Heb 12:2). Among other reasons, they give up or try to help God when they don't see immediate signs of relief.

Unlike the nine lepers, we must abound in faith –through Thanksgiving. It means that the period between when we ask God and when we see manifestations of our answer must be filled with praise and thanksgiving. This is one sure way to defeat the enemy and not truncate (but enjoy) the fullness of God's blessings (Lk 17:15-16).

Regardless of what you're seeing at the moment concerning that which you're believing God for, go into today with thanksgiving and praise in your heart, and as you do this, Jesus the Finisher of your faith will raise you up in righteousness and make you whole (Luke 17:19).

The fact that you have lawsuits among yourselves demonstrates that you have already been defeated. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

Rather than go to court, Ian and Ronald decided to go for church arbitration even though a lot of money was at stake. Ronald particularly did not know if the pastor would understand all the dynamics of the matter because on the surface, what he was requesting looked outrageous if one did not understand the dynamics of their business.

But instead of taking their disputes to court, they would rather be cheated than do anything that could potentially hinder the advancement of the Gospel among unbelievers. They were already known everywhere as Christians.

As believers, we are a people called out and set apart unto the Lord. We are not of this world and our biggest advertisement to the world is our genuine love for one another (see John 13:35).

If you see two brothers of the same household taking each other to court over disputes, it would be hard to believe that there is true love in that family. What joins us as believers is stronger than flesh and blood-- It is eternal. If you would not take your biological brother to court but rather be cheated because he is your brother, why should you be willing to take your Christian brother to court?
When Christians take their disputes outside to unbelievers, it is a result of not rightly discerning the body of Christ to which they belong. The same applies to those who favor tribe and race over faith in Christ.

Go into today remembering that things you do would either cause your faith to grow or to wane. Rightly discerning the body of Christ is the secret to walking in the authority and glory of the body of Christ. But many have lived miserable lives, and some have even fallen asleep because they did not rightly discern the body. (1 Corinthians 11:29-30).

Prayer: Lord, help me to always rightly discern your body.

CHRISTIAN ARBITRATION 2

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1734

1 Corinthians 6:3-5 (NET)
Do you not know that we will judge angels? Why not ordinary matters!
So if you have ordinary lawsuits, do you appoint as judges those who have no standing in the church?
I say this to your shame! Is there no one among you wise enough to settle disputes between fellow Christians?

A certain influential Christian brother started keeping a mistress. With time, his wife found out and challenged him about it. But he was not sorry; he had become very proud because of his phenomenal success in business.
Instead of taking the matter to court to file for a divorce, his wife took the matter to the leadership of their church. They summoned him, but he had become too busy to respond to the summons of the church. After this brother had shown that he no longer had regard for the authority of the church, they decided to break fellowship with him and treat him like an unbeliever (see Matthew 18:16-17).

Three years later, all his very successful businesses had crashed and he was now in great debt.  He was also in serious police trouble and now needed the help of his wife. His life was full of reproach and it was clear to everyone that his troubles were a result of the Church's judgment.

One reason Christians are tempted take each other to court [before unbelievers] is because they know that the judgment of a civil court would be enforced by the government of the land. But they fail to realize that when judgment is made by a living Church, it would be enforced by the most powerful government in the universe—Heaven enforces the judgments of the church, for whatever the church binds on earth is bound in heaven(see Matthew 18:18).

Go into today remembering that no government on the earth has as much authority as the church of Christ.
prayer: Ask the Lord to help us rightly discern and walk in our authority as His Church.

I say this to your shame! Is there no one among you wise enough to settle disputes between fellow Christians?

Ian and Ronald both started an ICT company when they were undergraduates on campus. After seven years, the company had grown to become one of the top 100 companies in their country.

After Ian got married, he decided it was time for him to go solo. Because Ronald felt cheated by this decision, he made it very difficult for Ian to leave the company. Ronald insisted that in leaving the company, Ian was sabotaging the company and couldn’t leave with 50% of the company’s assets and equity. Ian, on the other hand, wasn't seeing things that way. He felt that since he owned 50% of the company, he was entitled to his 50% of the company’s assets and equity. Both of them strongly held to their positions and couldn’t seem to reach a compromise.

Because both of them were true believers who loved the Lord, they both knew that taking each other to court was not the way to go. Because they attended different churches, they decided to take the matter before a pastor they both respected. This was the pastor that discipled them during their university days. When they told him about the issue, he called on another Christian elder (who was an experienced business school professor) to be part of the arbitration. Both Ian and Ronald agreed that they would abide by whatever judgment the pastor gave. This case involved billions of dollars.

Go into today knowing that it is a shame for two believers to take their disputes before unbelievers. Doing so makes it much more difficult for us to witness to them. Remember that the gospel of the kingdom is the most important thing going on in the world today. Our minor issues should never be made to stand in the way of advancement of the gospel.

HOW TO USE PROPHECY

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1732

Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

After being married for twelve years, mercy was still awaiting the fruit of the womb. She became desperate because she didn't marry on time and her biological clock was no more in her favor. Her husband who used to be very sweet and kind had become sour, and her in-laws were no longer nice to her.

As she cried to the Lord one night, she remembered a word of prophecy that came to her. The word said she was going to have three children and they were all going to be boys.

As soon as she remembered that prophecy which she knew was from the Lord, she received strength again to pray.

The first time that word of prophecy came to her, she believed it. But that night, she not only believed it but used it as a weapon of spiritual warfare with which she dispelled every doubt and unbelief in her heart. She conceived that same month.

Faith (which is a shield) comes by hearing the word of God, but the word of God is also a sword. It is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).

In 1 Timothy 1:18, we see that Timothy was charged to use the prophecies he had received to war a good warfare. Prophecies are to be used not just kept in the recesses of the heart.

When Daniel read the prophecies concerning Israel and it was appearing as if they were not going to be fulfilled, he started spiritual warfare, and his basis and weapons were the prophecies he had read(see Daniel 9:2).

Go into today remembering that spiritual warfare is won by praying always in the Spirit, with the weapon of God's word (Ephesians 6:12, 18).

LIFE AND LIFESTYLE

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1731

Titus 3:8(KJV)
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

What we have as believers is a kind of life; a God kind of life. Scriptures sometimes refer to it as eternal life (1st John 5:11&12, John 1:4-5, 12-13), meaning that in reality we received a new, kind of life in salvation. This is our reality.

However we must know, this life is not just like a trophy we keep for bragging rights, but the rather, it manifests, it produces something. YOU SEE, THIS LIFE PRODUCES A LIFESTYLE. The scripture is replete with this emphasis. One scripture that encapsulates this truth in a profound way is Ephesians 2:8-10.

8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

You see, this salvation-life was received not by our works (of the law), HOWEVER, the life is designed to produce a work (of righteousness) in every one who receives it.

It is therefore ignorance, foolishness or dishonesty to think that there is a disconnect between this life and the lifestyle of the recipient. We have received the God-kind of life, but this life produces godliness.

Oh yeah, the hood does not make the monk, BUT THE MONK DOES WEAR A HOOD.
IF YOU HAVE THE LIFE, LET IT PRODUCE THE ATTENDANT LIFESTYLE IN YOU.

THE SAINTS WILL JUDGE THE WORLD

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1730

1 Corinthians 6:1-2 (NET)
When any of you has a legal dispute with another, does he dare go to court before the unrighteous rather than before the saints?
Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to settle trivial suits?

When the Lord returns to this physical world with we His saints and His glorious angels(Jude 1:14), we would have the resurrected glorified bodies and will have the power to take over the governments of this world (Rev 11:15). Every single corner of this earth will be under our control, and we will judge the men of the earth and rule over them (see Revelation 2:26-27, Matt 16:27).

Naturally, they would try to resist us because we are coming to take over their governments, but they would not be able to resist us because unlike them, we would have indestructible bodies and super intelligence like the world has never seen. The Lord Jesus will set up the headquarters of His global government in Jerusalem, and His twelve apostles will be part of His top cabinet officials (Matt 19:28).

Every believer who has served the Lord during his pilgrimage on earth will be given portfolios (thrones) in that glorious kingdom (Rev 3:21). Some will be given ten cities to govern; some five (see Luke 19:17, 19:19), depending on how they have served God now. For example, we know from scripture that King David will be made a prince (or governor) over the land of Israel (see Ezekiel 37:25).

We are going to be people of great wisdom who will be able to rule the men of the earth and judge them, and we are supposed to start working in a foretaste of that wisdom because of the indwelling Holy Spirit. That's the reason why as believers, we should not take our disputes before unbelievers to judge for us because these same unbelievers are the ones we will judge in our coming government.

WATCH YOUR COMPANY

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1729

1 Corinthians 5:9-11 (NET)
I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people.
In no way did I mean the immoral people of this world, or the greedy and swindlers and idolaters, since you would then have to go out of the world.
But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person.

Because Tare was a believer, he would have never been that close to Tega if Tega were not also claiming to be a believer. Tare was very aware of God's instruction that we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), but he was not aware of the instruction in today's Bible verses that says we should not keep company with anyone who says he is a brother, but who is an immoral person, or who still lives his life like an unbeliever.

Many believers have fallen into the trap of Satan because they have kept company with so-called believers who are actually unbelievers (wolves in sheep clothing) or believers who have acute spiritual diseases and who should be on spiritual quarantine.

Go into today remembering that you are to guard your heart with all diligence because out of it flows the springs of life (see Proverbs 4:23). One way to guard your heart is by being very careful about the company you keep. A man who would walk in the blessing of heaven is one who is careful with the company he keeps, and who delights in the word of the Lord (see Psalm 1:1-3).

Prayer: Lord, help me from this day to keep company with those who would help me delight in His word and grow.

PURGE OUT THE LEAVEN 2

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1728

1 Corinthians 5:7-8 (KJV)
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

When Tare found out that the reason lust was in his heart was because Tega his new best friend was an acute womanizer, Tare decided to become a mouthpiece for Christ. He decided that he was going to ensure that all his conversations with Tega were centered on the word of God. He was no longer going to hide his faith and love for the Lord.

After two weeks, Tega started avoiding him because he was not interested in 'all that Jesus talk'.

It wasn’t easy for Tare, but he knew he had purge out the old leaven of immorality by letting go of his close friendship with Tega, since Tega was not willing to be purged by the word.

There are two kinds of leaven identified in today’s Bible verses. There is the old leaven which Apostle Paul was talking about when he was refereeing to the immorality in the church, and there is the other kind of leaven which is similar to the old leaven, but is more subtle and common among self-righteous believers. This leaven is called the leaven of malice and wickedness. Malice happens when believers refuse to forgive those that have offended them. Wickedness is when believers refuse to walk in love; let their light shine; and witness for Christ to a perishing world. In the Parable of Talents, the servant who hid and refused to use his talent was called a wicked servant (see Matt 25:26).

Go into today remembering that it is as we escape the yeast of corruption that we become partakers of the divine nature through faith (see 2 Pet 1:4).

PURGE OUT THE LEAVEN

1 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us

When Tare moved from Warri to Lagos, he got in touch with Tega his best friend on campus. They were so excited to meet again and they continued their friendship as before. But Tare was now happily married while Tega was a womanizer who could not keep his marriage together.

Tare really loved his wife and had eyes for no other woman. But after living six months in Lagos, with continuous fellowship with Tega, he noticed that his love for his wife was now waxing cold. And he was becoming drawn to other ladies in the office.

He couldn't understand what was happening to him. He had vowed never to cheat on his wife, but it was now becoming very difficult to keep his vow.

After almost falling into adultery with a lady in the office, he decided it was time to seek help. He talked to his pastor about his struggles while he waited on the Lord concerning this issue.

Through the guidance of his pastor, he discovered that he had been affected by the spiritual disease of his new best friend. He was advised to break close fellowship with this friend if he wanted his marriage to survive.

There were two reasons why Apostle Paul commanded that the man who was cohabiting with his father's wife be removed from fellowship with the church.

The first reason was so that he would come to repentance after he had suffered the consequences of separation from the spiritual covering of the church. The second reason was because Apostle Paul didn't want the yeast of his iniquity to spread among the brethren.

Iniquity is like a contagious disease. That’s why believers are warned not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (see 2 Cor 6:14) and not to keep company with 'believers' who behave like unbelievers (see 1 Cor 5:11).

THE AUTHORITY OF THE CHURCH

Download Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1726

1 Corinthians 5:5-6 (NET)
turn this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.
Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast affects the whole batch of dough?

In the Corinthian Church, there was a man who was cohabiting with his father's wife, and this man was still freely fellowshipping with the church without any shame. I don't know why they didn't appear to see anything wrong with this. Clearly, those who reported the matter to Paul did, but for some reason, the church was still moving on as if nothing was wrong.

In judging this matter, Paul commanded that this man should be turned over to Satan for the destruction of his flesh. What does this mean?

You see, every true church assembly (as represented by the leadership) has great authority in heaven because the church is the body of Christ. Jesus told the Apostles that whoever’s Sin the church forgives is forgiven and whoever’s Sin the church retains is retained (see John 20:23). He also told them that whatever the church binds on earth is bound in heaven (see Matt 18:17-18). Such is the authority of the apostolic church.

Every believer has protection from Satan (the prince of this world) because he or she becomes a member of Christ's body by virtue of his faith in the Lord. But if a church assembly decides to [temporarily] sever themselves from a member because of his embarrassing and shameful conduct, such a believer will no longer enjoy the covering and protection of the church, and will now be exposed to Satan’s assault.

If that believer was rightly judged by his church assembly, but rebelliously goes to join himself to another group of believers, if that group accepts him in spite of his rebellion, that group will share in his iniquity and share in his judgement because they have refused to discern the body of the Lord and have 'laid hands on him suddenly'(see 1 Tim 5:22).

Go into today remembering that the church of Christ has more authority than any human government and every member of this body has access to the authority of Christ.

LIGHT YOUR WORLD

Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1725

Isaiah 60:2 (KJV)
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

As Jane grew older, she observed that the world became more and more evil. Iniquity seemed to have taken over many places, and there were now so many people who claimed to be believers but who really were not. Because of this, she almost became burdened and depressed because she was troubled about the kind of life her grandchildren would have to live.

She decided to stop complaining and do her part in reducing the darkness in this world. She started a Bible club for the young children in her neighborhood. Because she provided free snacks and drinks, many of them attended. With time, most of them were led to the Lord and became bright lights in their generation. She became a very cheerful and happy old lady because of this.

You may have observed that in this world, things are not really getting better. Nations are changing their laws in rebellion to the order of God. Wickedness and terrorism seem to be a new reality. Darkness indeed covers the earth, and gross darkness the people. But remember that the thicker the darkness, the more relevant the light becomes.

God who is the Father of all lights has promised to arise upon you and cause His glory to be seen in you. Sinners will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising if you let your light shine.

Light is the solution to darkness. You are the solution to the darkness of this world.

Go into today deciding to let your light shine by being a witness for Christ in every place God has planted you.

THE SUPERNATURAL DIMENSION 3

Audio Version☞ bit.ly/audio1724

Acts 9:10 (WEB)
Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias!” He said, “Behold, it’s me, Lord.”

Before Dean received the Lord Jesus, it was commonplace for him to see spirits and talk with them. There were many demons under his control and he had even had encounters with Satan more than once.
The widow the Lord used to bring him to Christ was no novice in the things of the spirit herself. She had had angelic encounters several times. She had also had encounters with the Lord Jesus more than once.
So after Dean accepted the Lord Jesus, many demons were still appearing to him and threatening him to come back, but this his neighbor could help him through this period without any fear because, like him, she was no stranger to the supernatural dimension.

In today’s Bible verse, we see that a certain believer in the early church had an encounter with the Lord Jesus in a vision. These kinds of supernatural encounters were commonplace in the early church. Angelic encounters were not strange. So much so that when Peter was arrested and the church was praying for his release, when he came to them in the night and a lady in their midst said he was at the door, they all assumed she merely had an encounter with Peter’s angel (see Acts 12:15).

It was not strange for Paul to say things like ‘the angel of the Lord appeared to me and said…’(see Acts 27:23), or for Peter to say ‘the Lord said to me in a vision’ (see Acts 10:10-14, 28), or for Phillip to say ‘the angel of the Lord said to me that…’(see Acts 8:26).

Go into today remembering that Christians are supernatural and not merely natural people. Every sign that Jesus said would follow those who believe in Him are supernatural signs (see Mark 16:17-18). Ask the Lord to remove every stronghold in your heart that hinders the supernatural dimension.
