Guard Against Greed

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2624

Luke 12:15 (NET)Then he said to them, “Watch out and guard yourself from all types of greed, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

It didn’t take Gbemisola long to realize that he was operating under a limiting spiritual force(A Curse). His forefathers were idol worshipers, and they left a legacy of misery and generational curses for their children. After he accepted the Lord Jesus, he wanted to walk in his freedom in Christ. This he did through knowledge (see John 8: 31-32). After learning of his family’s history of idolatry, he hated idolatry with passion. He wanted to serve God and God alone because he wanted to leave a legacy of blessings for his children.

One of the undeniable manifestations of the power of the gospel is deliverance from the stranglehold of generational curses and limitations. In most cases, especially in Africa, one manifestation of such curses is poverty and reproach. When a person who was under the dominion of curses receives the gospel, he receives deliverance and will be free to live an unlimited life; manifesting his potential and being a blessing to his generation.

This is one of the reasons the gospel is called by some "the Gospel of Prosperity". It delivers people from poverty and brings them into the prosperity of God.

But prosperity and financial upliftment are not the main thrust of the gospel message, the Kingdom of God is. So when people lose focus of the kingdom of God and begin to focus on worldly riches, they become covetous and begin to serve mammon rather than serving God (see Matt 6:24). This is idolatry. Remember that idolatry eventually brings people under the power of curses.

Go into today guarding your heart against all forms of greed. Greed is a spiritual disease that brings people under the authority of Mammon—the god of this world.
Prayer: Lord, deliver me from all forms of coveteousness. Help me walk free from the dominion of mammon.

How Bad Is Doubt?

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2623
Matthew 14:29-30 (KJV) “And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

Ene competed in a mathematics competition and she made it to the finals. Although happy, she was also very anxious because if she wins, she would go home with the 10 million Naira price and an all expense paid trip to any two countries of her choice. As the competition got to the very last round, she was stuck. She did not know what the answer to the very last question was, so she took a deep sigh and muttered, “Jesus, please help me", and afterward went for the option that was impressed upon her heart. She won the competition because what was impressed upon her heart was the answer. It was after she had been declared the winner that she exclaimed, “thank God I did not doubt!"

What do you think would have happened if she had doubted? She would have lost the price, and that would not have been God's fault, it simply would have been the result of her doubt. You see, doubt is so bad that it can stop you from getting what God is giving you.

We see from today's text that Jesus had already told Peter to come, and had supplied him the power needed to walk upon the water. The entrance of doubt however caused him to sink. Doubt is so terrible that it can cause you to lose what God has already given you.

You have to fight doubt by learning to trust God even in uncertain situations. You can fight doubt by praying about the matter  until the anxiety in your heart wanes and faith is built up. You can fight doubt by confessing the word of God and avoiding people and comunications of unbelief. You can fight doubt by bringing yourself to remeber the wonders God has done in the past, and thanking Him for all His benefits and for what he is doing(Psalm 103:1-2).

Go into today knowing that doubt will never give you what faith in God cannot give, it is thus useless to doubt.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful to you in undoubting trust and loyalty. Amen.

Strange Teachers

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/audio1717
1 Corinthians 4:18-19 (KJV) Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.

Pastor Jide: stop listening to those pastors, they don’t understand the gospel. They only minister condemnation.

Segun: But Pastor, these pastors are the ones who brought the gospel to us with great power from God and caused our entire communities to turn from idols to Christ Jesus. How come you keep saying these same people do not understand the gospel?

Segun observed that pastor Jide had no real power in his ministry to make disciples, but he claimed everyone else was wrong and he was right.

When Apostle Paul left the Corinthians and moved on to the next mission field, some other apostles like Apollos graciously went to Corinth to help water what Paul had already planted. But there were also other teachers who arose, and these teachers felt they had an understanding of the gospel contrary to what was preached by Paul, Apollos, and the other apostles of the Lord.

One thing characterized these teachers, they were full of words but no power. And they were puffed up but had no real spiritual authority.

Today, such teachers have arisen in the church. They criticize everyone who does not subscribe to their warped version of the gospel. They are arrogant and have little regard for scriptures (except those that appear to support their doctrines). These teachers are the worst thing that can happen to any true believers who is not yet spiritually mature.

Go into today asking the Lord to deliver the church in your nation from false teachers. Ask the Lord to deliver you from the influence of all such teachers.

Faith and a good conscience

 Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/dev2290

1 Timothy 1:18-19 (NET)  I put this charge before you, Timothy my child, in keeping with the prophecies once spoken about you, in order that with such encouragement you may fight the good fight. To do this you must hold firmly to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck in regard to the faith.

When Jide started meditating on the word of God and praying every day, he observed that his faith started to grow. He knew this because he was no more as fearful as he used to be, and he was now more thankful and complained less. He also observed that his words and prayers were now so much more powerful.

Some things happened in the office and Jide had to write a report filled with lies. He observed instantly that after preparing that report, he lost his peace and confidence of faith. He used to wake up every morning with an atmosphere of victory in his spirit because his heart was filled with faith, but after he wrote that report, because of a guilty conscience, his faith was fractured and his inner joy compromised.

He had to rewrite that report and tell the truth even though the truth was not as beneficial as the lies he had first told. This was when he regained his peace.

We can learn from today's Bible verse that in order for us to wage a good Warfare we are to hold unto faith and a good conscience. The word of God is the way through which faith comes to our hearts and grows, but a guilty or defiled conscience is the fastest way through which the faith of a believer can be eroded or even shipwrecked. Any believer that wants to walk in great faith would be careful not to walk in such a way that his conscience is defiled. Sin causes defilement of conscience, there is no way around this.

Go into today remembering to build your life on God's word. Determine to start your day in God's Word and watch your faith grow.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me daily grow in faith and walk in your perfect plan for my life, In Jesus' name. Amen.

Entering His Presence

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2622

Hebrews 12:22-24 (NET) But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly and congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.

Dan struggled with his prayer life for years. Many times he prayed, he wasn't sure his prayers were powerful or if God really heard him. He felt that he was drowning in the sea of guilt and fear because he could not communicate with the Lord God as he should.

But his prayer life experienced a breakthrough when he heard a sermon based on today's Bible verses and realized that each time he came to God in prayer, spiritually, he was coming into the city of the living God. He now understood why the Lord wants us to pray without season(1 Thess 5:17). The Lord loves us so much that He doesn't ever want us to come out of His heavenly city. Praying without ceasing is only possible for the spirit-filled believer. This is when a believer maintains unbroken communion with the Lord in his heart through prayer, thanksgiving, psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, singing and making melody in his heart, etc (see Epph 5:18-20).

If for any reason, your spiritual connection with God is interrupted, the easiest way to re-establish it is by thanksgiving and praise.

We see in scripture that we enter into God's gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise(Psalm 100:4). The Lord must have opened the eye of the psalmist to see the spiritual mount Zion, the city of the living God. He saw that the passcode with which God's people could enter the city gates and God's temple courts was thanksgiving and praise.

Go into today remembering that when you pray, you can pray from afar or you can come into God's presence and have communion with Him. The secret to entering His presence is thanksgiving and praise.

Prayer: Lord God, please help me always dwell in your presence and grow in communion with you. Amen.

Like Rahab

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2621

Joshua 2:18 (GWT): When we invade your land, tie this red cord in the window through which you let us down. Also, gather your father, mother, brothers, and all your father’s family into your house.

Tricia was lost in thought as she walked back home from her evening music class and it showed. Ezinwa could tell because Tricia was usually the chatty one but that night, she was all quiet and somber. So, while everyone said their goodbyes and went their separate ways, she waited to enquire what was so heavy on Tricia's heart.

“It looks like God just delights in answering the prayers of bad people much more than those who show him more devotion”, blurted Tricia to Ezinwa’s inquiry.

It turned out Tricia had been praying for a certain health condition to be turned around for a while now, while Pat who just got saved barely a month ago already had testimonies of divine healing and supernatural help. Ezinwa thought long and hard on how to respond to Tricia, so she asked:

“What, in your opinion, is the most remarkable thing about Rahab?”

“Her profession”? replied Tricia.

Think again.

Here is a woman who heard the same report of the works of the God of Israel and the same account that simply generated fear in the heart of every other person who heard it, stimulated something more than just fear in her (See Joshua 2:.9-12)

So much so she was willing to risk death by lying to the messengers of the King of Jericho, she was willing to stake her life just to align with the people of this God she had heard about. She elicited a promise and a token from these spies and so kept a red cord on her window in response to their assurance.

And that was not all, she took the next step to ask her family and relatives to come camp in her room. How easy do you think it is to go say to your family,

“Hey, these guys are going to conquer this city and the only safe place is my room. Come camp in my room till they return or risk death”

And if they say, ‘what makes you so sure?’, ‘she’d reply, ‘You see that red cord, as long as it hangs over my window, you can be sure that come what may, we will not suffer the fate of the rest of the city, that is the promise they made me’

The most remarkable thing about Rahab was her faith, and the writer of Hebrews agrees (See Hebrews 11:31). You see, God is about favoring supposedly ‘bad’ persons like a good PR strategy, it is just that people who have no brownie points with God just tend to totally depend on God in faith in ways which some ‘established’ people do not. It is the faith that produces the result, and not their history.

Go into today simply trusting in the Lord like a child would his/her parent. This kind of faith pleases the Lord.

Bearing Good Fruits

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2620

Matthew 3:10 (KJV) “And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."

Mrs. Jakes: sweetheart, don't you think we should consider that Pastor down the street? The testimonies of those who visited him are really trilling. Don't mind those jobless complainers who are criticizing him, they are just jealous of him, his results are simply amazing. Honey, don't you think we should visit him too?

Mr. Jakes: But sweetheart, this man is known for his sexual escapades, he even tried it with your friend just some days ago, remember? We will not visit him, his results are questionable?

Just like Mrs. Jakes, many are easily deceived. They are carried away by results usually because they want the easy way out of their challenges or because they just cannot differentiate mere fruits from good fruits.

So, what makes a fruit good? Is a man good simply because his life is producing results?

Jesus in Matthew 12:33 (KJV) said “either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit." Hence, a fruit is good if it is produced by a good tree, in like manner, a result is good if it is produced by a good man. How then does a man become good?

Jesus in Luke 18:19 (KJV) said "none is good, save one, that is, God". God alone is good, a man is good if he is born of God and knows God.

It is the fruits or results produced when a man is connected to God that is called good fruits or good results.

Go into today knowing that success for a child of God is not measured by every kind of result but by good results (fruits) alone.

Prayer: Father, I ask that you help me remain connected to you so I can produce good results always, In Jesus’ name. Amen!

At Your Service

1 Samuel 13:14 (NLT): But now your kingdom must end, for the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart. The Lord has already appointed him to be the leader of his people, because you have not kept the Lord’s command.”

Kwame really wanted to ace this interview. He was nervous, it was his first major interview. So, to aid his preparations, he signed up for the “Acing It Like A Pro” webinar hosted by an HR consultant.

During this training, Kwame was taught all kinds of skills and etiquette. He was trained on how to open and shut doors properly, how to be polite to all staff he encounters, how to hold the gaze of the interviewer in a way that is not aggressive but assertive, he was taught how to exude confidence while giving a handshake.

Kwame was also told questions to anticipate, one of which is the infamous, “Tell us about yourself” question.

God once had an opening for which he interviewed prospects/candidates.

The then holder of the position was quite a looker; he was heads and shoulders above everybody, literally. He had started well, self-effacing, unassuming, humble, and courageous. But then, once he got the job, his head got bigger, his ego bloated, and he became too big for his shoes. Now God was on a lookout again, and he put the vacancy out.

What He did was he contracted his prophet to carry out the recruitment exercise and…Oh Boy! Did he almost miss it! You see when the interview was on, Samuel was so impressed with the CV of Eliab, that he muttered under his breath, “This must be him”, he felt he had found a worthy replacement for Saul, one with an imposing physique too, that way the royal clothes will require little or no adjustment at all. But he was called to order, because, when God puts a vacancy out, he’s not going to be impressed with the arrangement of your CV, when He asks, “Tell me about yourself”, He doesn’t expect a long-winded effort at blowing your own trumpet; He just listens to hear your heart say, “I’m available Lord, I’m at your service”

Like Jesus: “Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God—" (Hebrews 10:7a NLT). He looks for one of whom He can say “‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart [conforming to My will and purposes], who will do all My will” (Acts 13:22 AMP)

Do you want to serve Him? Go into today preoccupied with doing His will and carrying out His programs…His and not yours.

Keep a Firm Grip

Download Today's Audio: bit.ly/aud2064

2 Thessalonians 2:15 (NLT) With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter.

The realities of this ‘social media’ age is the heightened need for acceptance. People want to be liked and fear being different. The world is becoming more and more intolerant of anyone holding an unpopular view, and anyone who doesn’t agree with the general view is labeled intolerant, phobic and narrow-minded. In light of this, believers are under pressure to shift grounds and compromise the truth in order to conform to the demands of an ever-changing world.

However, the word of God warns, keep a firm grip on the truth. It is a command. Christian values remain the same as has ever been. Jude 1:3 describes our faith as one that has been handed once and for all times to us. Keep a firm grip on the truth, understand that the Christian/godly stance on sexual purity has not been modified, its stance on integrity remains the same, and its stance on love is still as was given…Hold fast to these truths as revealed in God’s word. Because as Hebrews chapter 2 verse 1 succinctly puts it,

“So we must be more careful to follow what we were taught. We must be careful so that we will not be pulled away from the true way” (Easy-to-Read Version).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me build my life according to the culture of your kingdom. Fill me with your Spirit and help me never to cave to the pressures of this world. Amen.

Comprehending His love

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2618
Ephesians 3:17-19 (NET) that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love, you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
When Dara was a little boy, he was too young to truly understand what love meant. He felt his parents loved him when they bought him nice things and hated him when they disciplined him. It took a level of growth and maturity for Dara to realize that even the times his father disciplined him, it was born out of genuine love.

He saw the way other children who were not disciplined turned out, and he doubted whether their parents truly loved them the way his parents loved him.

Because he was loved as a little child, he also could love his children easily. It is a true saying that: those who have never experienced love would have a hard time expressing love.

From today's scripture, we can see that the prerequisite for being filled with the fullness of God is a comprehension (or an understanding) of His love. One of the fruits this understanding produces is love for God, and this love would manifest in obedience to Him (See John 14:15, 1John 2:3-5, John 14:21-24). 1 John 4:19 says "we love Him because he first loved us".

Our comprehension of the depth of love the Lord has for us would produce a response of love in us towards Him and towards other people He loves. This love will manifest in the way we treat our friends, neighbors, and even our enemies. For indeed, we would remember that while we were still enemies of God, Christ loved us and gave his life for us.

Understanding the Love the Lord has for us is the key that opens up our hearts to deeper fellowship with Him because of trust and faith in Him. It is a true saying that: the deeper you trust a person, the deeper your fellowship would be with that person.

Go into today thanking the Lord for the great love with which he has loved you. Ask that the eyes of your understanding may be enlightened so you may comprehend His love more and as a result, your capacity to be filled with His presence and power would be enlarged.

Confession: I live a life that demonstrates God's love. My life is filled with the fullness of God, In Jesus' name.

Not the Spirit of Fear

🎧 Download the Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1342

2 Tim 1:7(KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Tara received a message on WhatsApp that ended with a threat. It said if she failed to share the message with six of her contacts within six hours of reading it, something bad was going to happen to her within days. But if she shared the message, something good was going to happen to her . The message went on to tell stories of how good things have happened to people who shared it, and how very bad things happened to people who didn't.

Interestingly enough, she read the message in the night after her internet data ran out, and could not recharge that night. Tara's day was disorganized because she was afraid of the threat in the message since she could not share it.

Anyone claiming to be sharing the word of God, but threatening people to share it is not doing so by the spirit of God. That is the way witchcraft works. It uses fear, intimidation and manipulation, to make people do things they normally wouldn’t want to do. Do not open the door of fear in your life by sharing any such message.

People do not receive blessings from God because they clicked 'like' on a Facebook post or shared a message. People receive blessings from God because of their faith in God and obedience to His word (see Psalm 1).

It is interesting how some Christians can read messages created by a con artist and believe every word of it, but fail to believe every word of God that have spoken good concerning them.

Go into today remembering that God's Word is the most powerful word in the universe and it says good concerning you. Read it, believe it, and share it in love.

Living By Faith

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2616

Hebrews 11:5-6 (KJV) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Arielle lived a dirty life as a call girl who did drugs, wild parties, and other terrible things. Her neighbor had preached to her about putting her faith in God but she mocked her saying “oh! What do you know about faith? I have more faith than you that's why I have all my needs met. Or have you forgotten how I was healed of HIV last month in the crusade you invited me to? What did you get from that crusade? Nothing I guess. You see, I have more faith than you already”.

Sometime later, in another crusade, Arielle truly accepted the Lord Jesus, and it was after this that she discovered that there was more to faith than she had earlier known.

Faith is the power given to you by God to live a life that pleases Him. When you are living to please God, you will love what He loves and hate what He hates. Simply put, you will do God’s will. The prayers prayed by one who lives like this will be answered because he is in the will of God (John 15:7, 1 John 5:14).

There is a kind of faith that helps us to get things from God but much better is the faith that helps us to live lives pleasing to God. The former is aimed at bringing us to the place where we find the latter, thus the ultimate aim of faith is to help us please God, not just to get us things from Him.

If you desire intimacy with God, you must learn to please Him and this is only possible by faith. It is those who please Him that are His friends (read Mark 3:35) who will reign with Him.

Prayer: Lord, help my faith grow to the point that I walk in a manner that pleases you continually. Amen

Wait Until the Lord Comes

Download Today's Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud2615

1 Corinthians 4:5 (NET) So then, do not judge anything before the time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the motives of hearts. Then each will receive recognition from God.

Chinonye received the Lord Jesus when she was a teenager and had grown to know the Lord. Because of this, she responded differently to situations she came across in life. Her colleagues in the office wondered why she was so calm and collected and so easily willing to forgive wicked offenders and overlook the most grievous trespasses against her. She tried to explain to them that even though people may escape human judgment on this earth, no one was going to escape God's judgment on the Day of Judgment. Because of this understanding, she didn't try to revenge because she knew God was going to judge. The eternal judgment didn't look like a time too long to wait for her because she knew she had eternal life and now had the proper perspective of time.

We can see from scripture that there are times that the spirit of judgment could come upon believers, as willed by the Lord, and they would proclaim judgment against the Lord's enemies (see Acts 13:11). But it has to be a result of the Lord’s leading, not a result of the fleshly desire to get vengeance.

Sometimes, because they wanted their vengeance instantly, believers have used their spiritual power to destroy people that would have later been a blessing to them and to the world. There probably would be no 'Apostle Paul' if Stephen had used his authority to pray down judgment on those responsible for his execution (see Acts 7:58-60).

Go into today meditating on this:
Romans 12:19 (NIV): Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live with eternity in view and live before you accurately. Amen.

The Boundaries Of Faith

Download Today's Audio: http://bit.ly/aud2614
Matthew 21:21 (NET) ”Jesus answered them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen."

It was only about two weeks after Fred said the sinner's prayer and handed over the control of his life to Jesus Christ that he began to study the Bible, practice what he studied, and pray. This undoubtedly caused a rapid turnaround in his life but he would soon make an all-time discovery. This happened when he read today's text in one of such study sessions and wanting to put what he had read to practice, he located a nearby mountain and commanded it to move but it did not, then he walked to a nearby tree and commanded it to dry up but this also did not happen. In his disappointment, he whispered, “but I had faith and I had no doubt in me, why didn't it happen with me like it happened with Jesus? Didn't Jesus say mountain will move when I speak to it in faith without doubting what I've said? Why didn't I get the promised result?”. Although disappointed, he, however, continued studying, praying, and practicing what he had learned from the Bible with the hope that he will get an answer for what happened.

What do you think happened to Fred? Why did he not get the desired results? Apostle John by the Holy Spirit said, “this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him" (1 John 5:14-15).

You see, faith does not make any and everything thing you want to happen, instead, it gives you anything you want that is captured within the will of God for you. So, the reason the mountain did not move when Fred commanded it to is because that action was not the will of God. The Apostles for instance never asked a mountain to move or curse a tree to dry up because those were not captured in the will of God for them even though they saw Jesus curse a tree and heard his words about moving mountains. Like the Apostles, you also must make every effort to know the will of God and learn to pray only His will as this will give you better results for your prayers.

Go into today knowing that your faith is effective only to the degree to which it agrees with the will of God.

A Life that Counts

Download Today's Audio: http://bit.ly/aud2612

Psalms 68:11 (KJV) The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

In the city where I grew up, there are burial grounds of European missionaries who died while preaching the gospel in Africa. Those missionaries died and were buried in the land because they came to preach the gospel. Some of these missionaries attended the best universities like Harvard and Oxford, but they saw a higher call and were willing to give their lives for it. Today, many in Africa are believers because of their sacrifice. Many lives have been physically and eternally spared because of their sacrifice. I can still remember the story of how a missionary called Mary Slessor was the one the Lord used to end the ritual killing of infant twins in the southernmost part of Nigeria.

When I look at many believers today, I have a great concern in my heart, because the emphasis and pursuits of many believers are for vain things. Believers who love their lives too much (and love the world) cannot effectively pass the light of the gospel to the next generation (see John 12:25, Revelation 12:11, 1 John 2:15).

When the gospel was first preached [in Jerusalem], it was by a handful of people who were willing to give it all (both those on the frontline of apostolic missions and those who gave their resources to send them). Today, over two billion people on earth are called Christians, and many millions have come to know the Lord personally. But this didn't happen without a great company of people intentionally committed to spreading God's word.

Even in the 19th century when there was a great missionary movement, and many parts of Africa evangelized, there were still some believers who loved the world too much and didn't want to inconvenience themselves for the gospel, but there were those who considered the Kingdom as the most important thing in their lives. All the believers in that generation are now physically dead, but some of them have crowns and eternal rewards stored up for them (2 Timothy 4:8), while some others would be ashamed before the Lord (1 John 2:28). Even though the people from that generation are no more in this world, they are still very much alive and conscious, and some are in joy while others are in eternal sorrow and damnation.

Go into today determining to be among the company of those who publish the word of the Lord in your generation. A life that counts is one committed to spreading The Kingdom.

Prayer: Lord, help me live a life that counts in your eternal scheme of things. Help me fulfill my part in what you are doing in my generation. Amen.

Overcoming Lawlessness

Listen to the audio version here: https://bit.ly/aud2612
1 John 3:6 (AMP) No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him — deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him]

Dare realized that because of the robust fellowship he constantly had with the Holy Spirit, all his weaknesses and besetting sins were no longer an issue. But he realized that Satan did everything to get him out of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He realized that the devil's most potent tool was guilt. But he knew better, he knew that even when his conscience tried to condemn him, the Holy Spirit is greater than his conscience and would never leave him.

One big mistake many Christians make is that they think being filled with the Holy Spirit is something that should happen once in a while. Many Christians are victims of sins and spiritual weakness because they are hardly filled with the Spirit. They have no experience of fellowship with the Holy Spirit. They do not realize that the Holy Spirit was sent to be their comforter, counselor, teacher, helper, etc. These are intimate functions that we enjoy only when we are in constant fellowship with Him.

One thing you will understand when dealing with the Holy Spirit is His authority and government over you. You will know this intuitively, and you will discover that walking in close fellowship with Him removes the tendency of lawlessness in your heart. You can no longer do anything or say anything. Your life becomes streamlined and narrowed to His will and government. This is what the narrow way really means.

As you go into today, do not forget that Christ dwells in you by His Spirit, and you dwell in Christ by allowing His word and will control you. This is the secret to a victorious winning life.

Prayer: Thank the Lord for the grace to have fellowship with Him.

What is Lawlessness?

Listen to the audio version here: https://bit.ly/dev2611
1 John 3:4 (NET) Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; indeed, sin is lawlessness.

The reason why the physical phenomenon called gravity is rightfully called the law of gravity is that it is a constant phenomenon guiding the physical order of things. Without the existence of gravity, there wouldn’t be the space-time continuum, and life on earth would be physically impossible.

Anyone who chooses to violate the law of gravity does so at his own peril. He is lawless in the physical context. Such a person would most likely suffer physical death or great harm. A good example is if someone chooses to jump out of a flying plane without wearing a parachute.

There is a law guiding life in the spirit realm too. Sin is a violation of this law of life.

If a Christian chooses to live in sin, he is like the person who jumps out of a flying plane. Even though by the superior divine law of life in Christ Jesus, he received the power to overcome the (spiritually natural) law of sin and death, if he chooses to live in sin again, he is transgressing the law of life and falling out to be a victim of the law of sin and death again.

In the new covenant, God does not just instruct us to be righteous; He empowers us to walk righteously. He empowers us to be Holy by giving us the Holy Spirit. We take advantage of God's empowerment by yielding to the Holy Spirit and guiding our lives according to God's word.

Go into today determining to yield to the Holy Spirit and live your life according to God's word. Yielding to the Holy Spirit becomes possible when you are conscious of His presence continually.

Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord to help you to always be conscious of the Holy Spirit's presence within you.

He Loved Much

Listen to the audio version here: https://bit.ly/dev2610
Luke 7:47 (NET) Therefore I tell you, her sins, which were many, are forgiven, thus she loved much; but the one who is forgiven little loves little.”

Kunle was a drug addict who had committed so many terrible crimes that he had lost count. He had resigned to the fate that he was irredeemable and would spend eternity paying for his many sins.

When someone told him that his sins could be forgiven, he found it very difficult to believe. But when he settled down to understand the gospel message and saw a movie that showed how Jesus suffered for our sins, he now believed that his sins could be forgiven. The suffering he saw Jesus go through was more than enough punishment for any sin he had committed. As he watched the movie, he wept because he knew that what Jesus went through was for him.

Two years after believing in the Lord Jesus, Kunle was now doing exploits for the Lord and healing the sick. Even the people who led him to the Lord were amazed at his growth and diligence in serving the Lord because he was laboring more than them. Kunle loved the Lord so much because he realized that he had been forgiven of so many sins.

Apostle Paul was also someone who was so grateful for the price Jesus paid that his love for the Lord was remarkable. He considered himself to be the worst of sinners before the Lord saved him(see 1 Timothy 1:15), so he felt a depth of gratitude and love that made him labor more than all the other apostles(see 1 Corinthians 15:10).

The truth is that we don't need to have had a rough past in order for us to realize that we have been forgiven much and therefore we ought to love much. What we need is a revelation of the holiness of God, then like Isaiah who cried out that he was unclean (see Isaiah 6:1-5), we would realize that the best we were before the Lord saved us was more repulsive than filthy smelly rags, and we all have been forgiven of many sins.

Go into today knowing that what we were because of our sinful nature was more repulsive than the things we did. For the most innocent of us, Jesus would have still had to die that gruesome death because of the heinousness of the sinful nature that we all shared.

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from the delusion of self-righteousness. Help me realize that I too was forgiven of many sins and I owe a debt of love and gratitude that one lifetime cannot finish paying for.

Redeemed From Curses

Listen to the audio version here: https://bit.ly/dev2609
Galatians 3:13-14 (NET) Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we could receive the promise of the Spirit by faith.

It is written that curse causeless shall not come(see Proverbs 26:2). In order for any curse to alight on an individual, there has to be a cause. In order for any curse to alight on a human being created in the image and likeness of God, there had to be a transgression of the law of God, whether knowingly or unknowingly. This transgression would serve as the cause for the curse.

If you look at today's verses in context, you will see that the people it was originally written to were Gentile(non-Jewish) believers. One would wonder why the curse of the law is talked about to them since they as Gentiles didn't know the law of God and so would not even know about the curse of the law, but the truth is that everyone that sins transgresses the law of God, whether Jew or Gentile and because the law of God is universal, everyone who transgresses it is open to curses. This is the reason why curses reigned among the Gentiles. Remember that the only people Balaam(who was an expert in curses) couldn't curse were the Jews when they were keeping the law of God. There was no cause so no curse could alight on them.

Because the Jews had the law of God, if they kept it, they were going to walk in such a way that curses would not be able to alight on them.

The last part of today's Bible verses is what particularly excites me. The proof that a Gentile has received the blessing of Abraham is that he would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. If God could give you His Holy Spirit, what else has He not given you?

Because the blessing is spiritual, it can only be appropriated by faith. An average Jew believes that he is blessed and not cursed. He believes that he is spiritually free and not bound(see John 8:33), and it works for them. This should be more so for the believer who has received the gift of the Holy Spirit, but if, unlike the Jews, a believer does not believe that he is blessed, it may be as if he is not blessed. He may even begin to envy the unbelieving Jew who walks in the shadow of what he has in Christ. Remember that it is what you believe that you will receive.

Go into today remembering that the proof that you have received the full version of the blessing of Abraham is that you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Go into the world with a blessed man's mentality.

Prayer: Lord, help me appropriate the fulness of my blessing in you through faith. Deliver me from every unbelief and contrary belief. Amen.

Overcoming Guilt - A Fruit of Love

Listen to the audio version here: https://bit.ly/audio2608

Hebrews 10:22-23 (NIV) let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

What a guilty conscience takes away from you are boldness and assurance. When a person has a guilty conscience, he cannot deal with God in boldness. And this will greatly hinder the flow of God's grace in his life.

We have seen previously that one way to overcome a guilty conscience is by convincing your conscience (that you are a child of God) in God's presence. 1 John 3:18-20 [NET] says: Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth. 19 And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence.

We have previously seen that the way to convince your conscience is by recognizing the fruit of God's seed in your heart, which manifests in acts of love that your life has been able to produce. This is worthy of note because it is only those who have been fathered by God that can produce such love that does not have the selfish motive (see 1 John 4:7). If the devil has been trying to deceive you to think you are not truly born of God, and because of this, your conscience has been condemning you in God's presence, the way to overcome this is by using your practical fruits of love as proof that you have been indeed fathered by God.

This is why for us Christians, Love is a commandment we must obey. This commandment is not grievous but is for our spiritual benefit.

As you go into today, remember that those who walk in the Light (by walking in love) are the ones who will receive cleansing by the blood of Jesus (see 1 John 1:7).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in practical love.
Confession: Because Christ Jesus is now my Lord, I walk above every guilt and curse, and walk in the blessing of Abraham

Abba!

Click here for the Audio Version: https://bit.ly/aud2607

Romans 8:15 (KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Many of the children in the neighborhood called Mr. Akande their father because Mr. Akande was truly a father to many of them who had lost their dads in the war. He provided for them and paid their bills even though they were not his biological children. But Mr. Akande and his biological children were really close. When every other child would say Mr. AKande is our father, Henry his son would say Mr. Akande is my dad.
Mr. Akande didn't necessarily know the voice of all his children in the neighborhood, but he knew the voice of his son and would respond quickly if he heard that voice.

'Abba' is one of the first words a Jewish child utters. It is very much like the word 'Dadda' English speaking families hear their children say as first words when the child tries to say 'daddy'.
Before Jesus, no Jew dared to call God Abba. It was too personal a term with which to refer to Almighty God. But Jesus was the first to call God 'Abba' because God was His dad (see Mark14:36).
Today, through faith in Him, and by the indwelling Holy Spirit, we have that kind of personal relationship with God such that we can call Him Abba or daddy.

Those who are led by the Spirit are those who walk in this realm of relationship with their heavenly father. The discussion of today's verse started in Romans 8:1 and down to verse 13, we see that the topic of discussion was walking in the Spirit as opposed to walking in the flesh. We see that those who have the Spirit of God dwelling in them (not just a one-time filling) are those who walk in the Spirit(see Romans 8:9). And now we are seeing that it is those same people(who walk in the Spirit) that have this personal relationship with God as Abba Father.

Go into today remembering that because of the indwelling Holy Spirit, God is your Dad and the relationship you have with God is the most intimate that there is.

Prayer: Holy Father, please fill me with Your Spirit and help me walk in the Spirit and stay filled so that I can walk in the reality of sonship.

Under the Law of Christ

Click here for the Audio Version: https://bit.ly/aud2606

John 13:34-35 (KJV) A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

The believer is not actually under the 613 commandments of the Old Testament nor is he even under the 10 commandments, but he is under the law of Christ. Here's what Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:20-21 (NET):

"To the Jews I became like a Jew to gain the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law) to gain those under the law. To those free from the law I became like one free from the law (though I am not free from God’s law but under the law of Christ) to gain those free from the law."

If we as believers were under the 613 laws or even the 10 commandments, many of us would have been operating under a curse because scripture says cursed is everyone that does not continue to do all that is written in the book of the law (see Galatians 3:10, Deuteronomy 27:26). As Christians, there are many aspects of the law that we do not keep (like the law of sabbath or the laws of ceremonial cleansing, etc) and we would have been under a curse if we were to be under the law, but as it stands, we are not under the curse of the law but under the blessing of Abraham because we are not under the law but under the law of Christ - the seed of Abraham (see Galatians 3:13,16).

There are parts of the 613 laws and the 10 commandments that our Lord Jesus [and His apostles] reiterated, and there are new commandments(like the one mentioned in today's Bible verses) that our Lord gave to His church. These are what we call the law of Christ, and this is what the believer is under.

As believers in Christ Jesus, we are not under the law of the Old Testament, but we are not lawless because we are under the law of Christ. The commandment to love one another as Christ loves us is one of the commandments in the law of Christ. The commandment for children to obey their parents in the Lord is another(Ephesians 6:1), and the commandment for believers not to repay evil for evil but to turn the other cheek and even love their enemies is another.

Go into today remembering that you have received a new nature that compels you from within to live in a certain way. You have received the nature of Christ. The law of Christ has been written in your heart or spirit. Walk therefore in the spirit and appropriate the blessings of the divine life.

When Lisa moved to the city and had to live in an apartment for the first time, she noticed that the people in the city were very paranoid and independent. It was so difficult for her to make new friends, and she also observed that even her neighbors did not know her nor did they care to know her. But with time, she observed that in spite of how closed-hearted the people in the city were, there was a group of people that were really warm and open-hearted. They visited each other and truly cared for one another. She also observed that after Jake, her former colleague, joined them, he became warmer, nicer, happier, and he now had visitors in his apartment and friends who truly loved him. They were the only ones who took him in when he lost his job and became temporarily homeless.

As Lisa observed that these people truly loved one another, she wanted to be part of them because she too wanted to be truly loved.

The sincere love among the Christians in her neighborhood was what brought Lisa to the knowledge of Christ. She knew that it had to be the power of God at work for them to be that real and loving. She had been a member of many societies and community associations, and she had seen first hand how the best of human arrangements to create an environment of love had failed woefully. She had also been a member of other religious groups before she became a secular humanist, and the fact that the Christians were the only ones who actually succeeded in achieving a community of sincere love was proof to her that Christ is the way.

There is a power that we have as people born of God that cannot be found anywhere else. It is the power to love in truth(1 John 4:7). Without the divine life, the best version of love man can exhibit would prove to be self-centered and inconsistent. But those who are born of God have the capacity to truly love and truly forgive.

Go into today remembering that when you walk in love, you're obeying the Lord, and obedience is one of the strongest keys to promotion in the kingdom of God. When we love one another as believers, we are demonstrating that we are truly born of God, and this is actually our strongest advertisement to the world (both spiritual and physical).

Prayer: Lord, help me walk in love and be a good advertisement of Your nature to the world around me. Amen.

Spiritual Enlightenment

Click here for the Audio Version: https://bit.ly/aud2604
Ephesians 1:18-19 (KJV) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power

After innocent accepted the Lord Jesus, there were many things about the kingdom of God he did not understand, but unlike so many believers today, he sought to understand them.

Innocent wanted to walk in the reality of God's power since he once read in his Bible that the kingdom of God is not in word but in power(1 Corinthians 4:20).

Because of this desire to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of God, Innocent had a great hunger for the word of God. Anywhere he heard that the word of God was taught with sincerity, he would listen. He bought many books and spent money to attend many conferences. He downloaded hundreds of sermons and listened to them. He read the Bible daily and sought to pray more and more.
As time passed, even innocent did not realize how much he had grown until he met the person that led him to Lord when they were on campus. This person had to confess that innocent now knew so many things that even he did not know, and as a result, walked more in the reality of God [and His Power] than most believers he knew.
Those who seek the kingdom of God as their first priority cannot be at the same level as those who do not(see Matthew 11:12).

Today's Bible verses capture part of Paul's prayer for the saints everywhere. It is the desire of God that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened. This is when we can know the riches of our inheritance and the exceeding greatness of God's power made available for us.
Note that today's verses didn't say "that we may know about the riches of our inheritance", it says "that we may know the riches of our inheritance". There is a difference between knowing about me and knowing me. Knowing me involves dealing with me personally, but one can know about me by merely reading about me or studying me from afar.

When the eyes of our understanding are truly enlightened, we will not just know about the riches of our inheritance and the power thereof, we would start experiencing the foretaste of these things, and as a result, would groan in expectant hope as we await the resurrection, which would usher us into the fullness of these things(see Romans 8:23, Philippians 3:20-21).

Go into today knowing that any believer who still has a worldly outlook on life; and still lives for this world(rather than for God's kingdom) is walking in terrible spiritual ignorance and has shortchanged himself. Such an outlook on life limits our ability to know the riches of our inheritance and the power thereof.

Prayer: Lord, please enlighten the eyes of my understanding and help me know the riches of my inheritance in you. Deliver me from every spirit of distraction, in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Wise Seek the Lord

Click here for the Audio Version: https://bit.ly/aud2603
Psalms 14:2 (NET) The Lord looks down from heaven at the human race, to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God.

One of the signs of wisdom is that people will seek the Lord. One of the biggest privileges we have through the indwelling Holy Spirit is the wisdom(Isaiah 11:2) of God which manifests in the desire to seek the Lord. When a believer observes that he no longer has the desire to spend quality time seeking the Lord, it is an indication of a spiritual disease.

The way God created us as humans, we are not self-sufficient. We need the help of God to survive and prosper. Only fools do not realize this. Over the course of human history, as iniquity abounded, many turned away from the true God, and in order for them to get the much-needed spiritual help that humans need, they looked to idols and other gods(principalities and powers: spiritual wickedness in heavenly places). These are the gods that the nations worshiped, and many still worship today.

But we have the privilege through our Lord Jesus Christ to access God the father and creator of all things. This privilege should never be taken for granted. We do not only have the privilege to know God but we also have the privilege to reconcile people to God. We do this by preaching the gospel and making disciples of all people. This is the most important thing going on in the world today: people being reconciled to God.

Go into today remembering that the source of your life and prosperity is in staying connected to God.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from everything that seeks to hinder your fellowship with Him.

Avoid Walking In the Flesh

Click here for the Audio Version: https://bit.ly/aud2602
Romans 8:12-13 (NET) So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh (for if you live according to the flesh, you will die), but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live.

There is the sad but true story of a pastor's wife who became adulterous and rebellious. With time she denied the faith and became an atheist. This happened because as she continued to unrepentantly walk in the flesh, she died spiritually.
When a believer continuously walks in the flesh (by committing sinful acts) in open rebellion, that believer is committing sin leading unto [spiritual] death. We are instructed in 1John 5:16 not to even waste our prayers on such believers.

Some argue that those who have denied the faith did so because they were never really truly saved in the first place, but there is no scripture to back that assertion, only sentiments. But there are scriptures that clearly say people fall away(Hebrews 10:39, 6:4-6), deny the faith(1 Timothy 5:8), have a shipwreck of the faith(1 Timothy 1:19), die spiritually (Romans 8:13, Revelation 3:1-2), etc. We can learn from today's Bible verse that the reason for this is continuing to walk in the flesh. Walking in the flesh leads to spiritual death.

Faith in God is a most precious treasure(see 1Peter 1:7), one that we should fight to keep (see 1 Timothy 6:12). But one can lose this priceless treasure if by walking unrepentantly in the flesh, he continues to violate his conscience. Faith is spiritual, and the sensor of the human spirit is his conscience. A ship with damaged sensors would have a shipwreck.

When you see someone who was once a believer getting to a point where he denies the faith, it usually is because he died spiritually due to walking in the flesh and continuous violation of his conscience (see 1 Timothy 1:19).

One of the biggest dangers of doctrines that make believers comfortable in their sins (while invoking 'grace' and refusing to repent) is that some of such believers can come to a point of denying the faith because they have walked in the flesh unrepentantly for so long to the point of spiritual death.

Sin is antithetical to faith, and the devil understands this too well. He understands that if he can get believers to walk in the flesh long enough without repenting, sin will gradually erode their faith until a time comes when they longer have the ability to believe in God. This is one of the scariest things that can ever happen but it is happening all the time, and the scriptures predict that it will happen on a large scale as a sign leading to the revelation of the antichrist (see 2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Go into today remembering that willful and unrepentant sinning is an act of unbelief towards God. Continuing in such a circle can bring a believer to the point where he no longer has the ability to believe in God.

Prayer: Lord, help me to maintain a clear conscience before you and before all men. Deliver me from every sin, in Jesus name. Amen.
