PLEASING GOD

Broadcast 3743

Mark 15:15 (KJV) 'And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified'

A lady was asked by her manager to sign in consent to receiving a purchase that was made by the company. She discovered that some of the items were missing. The manager promised to give her a share of the money if she cooperated with them, but she bluntly refused.

She stood her ground despite the manager’s threat to recommend her dismissal. She told him that it was better to disobey man than to disobey God. “I don’t lie” she said. She was dismissed at the recommendation of the manager.

Sometime later, top management found out about the crooked actions of this manager. He was sacked along with his cohorts, but the lady was reinstated back to her position.

We must understand that the most important person to please is God. It doesn't matter what others may think, if your actions please God, you are on the right track.

From our text above, Pilate ordered the execution of Jesus Christ and the release of Barabbas because he wanted to please the people. He could not find any fault in Jesus, but because he was afraid of losing favor (see John 19:12), he neglected that which was right.

When we give too much attention to what people would say, we lose the fear of God and act foolishly. When we live to please man, we cease to please God.

'And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell'. (Matt 10:28)

Go into today with this resolve: ‘If it's not from God, then it's not good enough for me’.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask for the grace to despise anything that is not of You, no matter how beneficial it may seem. Amen

MY LORD AND MY GOD

Broadcast 3742

John 20:28 (KJV) “And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God.”

The key to living a victorious Christian life is having a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus is not some abstract figure in ancient history. He is real. He is alive today. His grave is empty. But you can only know Him by revelation (see John 14:21). One of the proofs of your love for Christ is making Him the Lord of your life.

Are there any aspects of your life He is not involved in? Is He really in charge or have you relegated Him to the background? What about the choices you make, is He a part of your decision-making? Is He Lord over the type of drinks in your fridge or music on your phone?

You see, it’s either He is Lord over all or not Lord at all. You can’t make Him Lord over your life only on Sunday mornings and expect to live victoriously as a Christian. He wants to reveal Himself to you in a deeper dimension, but He won’t until you make Him Lord over your life. Making Jesus part of your daily living by submitting to His Lordship every day is the best decision you can ever make. He will take care of you. Gen. 18:14. Nothing is too hard for Him when He is truly made Lord.

Prayer: Lord, I come before you in repentance for every area of my life that has been in rebellion to your Lordship. I ask that you be Lord over my whole life today, amen.

CHANGING DESTINY THROUGH PRAYER

Broadcast 3741

1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV) And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Jabez was born into a very hard world. He must have observed that life was particularly hard for him. From the beginning, his portion was unusually tough and hard. Even for His mother to give birth to him was abnormally difficult, thus she named him Jabez which means pain. And indeed his life was to be full of pain. This was to be the path of His destiny. But Jabez didn’t like this destiny, so he changed it by praying to God.

Jabez prayed and asked the Lord to bless him and enlarge his coast. He asked the Lord to be with Him and change his destiny from that of pain to that of peace and prosperity. God granted his request, and he lived to become the most honorable person in his entire family.

If you are going through any unfavorable circumstance in your life, the way out is to pray to God and simply ask Him to change it. You spoil things in the place of prayer if you begin by complaining or comparing yourself with others.

Phil 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God [NIV]

Go into today determining to pray about anything in your life that brings pain. Know that the Lord is happy to change your story for Good. Read James 4:3.

Prayer: Thank God for bringing you to this day.

Ask Him for grace to pray in faith always.

UNCHANGEABLE GOD

Broadcast 3740
Malachi 3:6 (KJV) “I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed”

If you are in the middle of the traffic and the car in front of you seems to move, it is either the car is moving or you are the one moving. You can’t use the car in front of you as a point of reference, you may be wrong. But there are some immovable structures you can use as your reference point. A light pole or a building. Now, if you notice that the building seems to be moving, then know you’re on the move, if it doesn’t seem to be moving, then the car in front of you is the one moving.

Now what is our point of reference in such a dynamic world as ours? Who is the constant in this equation? For all of these to make sense, there must be someone behind the scenes who controls all these changes but He does not change. “In the beginning GOD…” this is the only explanation that makes sense. God does not change. He is the eternal I AM. He was here when it all began; He still watches to make sure His plans come to pass.

Friends, trust Him, He won’t fail you because He does not change. Whatever situation you may find yourself in is not strange to God, He will help you.

As you go into today, be encouraged. Be strong. Face whatever change may come your way knowing that “underneath are the everlasting arms.”

Prayer: Lord help me to trust you no matter what may come my way, help me to always remember that you do not change, therefore I am not consumed.

THE WORD PURIFIES

Broadcast 3739

Psalms 119:9 (NASB) How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word

Deji wanted to know if it was the will of God for him to marry Kemi. He prayed and fasted for three days. At the end of the three days, he got two answers: 'Yes and No'. He was confused because he did not know how to differentiate the voice of the Holy Spirit from other voices.

We sometimes find ourselves in situations where we wish we could physically see the Lord to ask Him what we should do. This is what the Bible refers to as wisdom; knowing the best thing to do per time.

In praying to seek God’s face over an issue, you may want to consider fasting because fasting increases spiritual sensitivity.

I’m sure you know that the Holy Spirit is not the only spirit in the spirit realm. It is therefore expedient to keep your heart and mind confined only to the frequency of the Holy Spirit.

One way to guard your heart and protect it from unwanted spiritual signals is by applying yourself to the word of God. Anything contrary to God’s counsel that is allowed to dwell in your heart is a seed of sin (read PS 119:11).

The word of God changes the way we think; it changes our outlook to life. The word of God has this effect on a person whose spirit has been regenerated. Because of this effect, our minds are no longer able to process signals that do not come from God.

As you go into this day, allow the word of God to change you into a more perfect Christian by strictly guiding your life according to it.

Prayer: please help me heavenly Father to regard your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you. Amen. (read Ps 119:11)

HE IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU

Broadcast 3738

Philippians 1:6 (NET) For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

After reporting to his new job in the city, Felix was excited to meet some of his old friends who were fellowship leaders on their campus. But he was deeply disturbed to realize that many of them had backslidden and were living as unbelievers. One of them was even living with his girlfriend in sin and shame. “What has this city done to my brethren” Felix thought.

After a lot of thinking, Felix wasn’t sure he too would last as a fervent believer in that city. Even though he didn’t have any plan to backside, he was already getting defeated from within. And that was the plan of the enemy.

Many Christians sometimes doubt the durability of their faith because they have not understood that it wasn't built by them but by God who is the master builder. Your salvation and your faith was not your idea, it was God’s idea. And God is faithful to keep you and increase you in the faith. Remember that He who began a good work in you will perfect it. As long as you abide in Christ and remain under his authority, you have nothing to fear.

As you go into today, do not let your heart be troubled about whether you will make heaven or not. Believe in Jesus that He is able to keep you and present you blameless before God on that day (Read Jude 1:24 and John 14:1-3).

Prayer confession: I will never backslide but will always grow in grace In Jesus' name. Amen. (keep repeating this till you totally believe it).

HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY 2

Broadcast 3737

James 4:3 (KJV) Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

David prayed that God should give him a car, but his motive was not in alignment with God’s counsel; his desire to have a car was furnished by deep-seated pride within Him. God wanted to give him a car, but God first sent sound teachings to purge him from his wrong mindset. Fortunately, he repented and was promoted in life.

The truth is that many pray sentimental prayers a lot of the time. They think God owes them a breakthrough because they have been through so much in life, but there are people passing through much worse.

When we pray, we must pray in line with the word of God; remind God of His promises (see Isaiah 43:26). Praying this way ensures that we never pray amiss but pray according to God’s will.

Those who do not pray in line with God’s word usually end up waiting and waiting for answers, and may finally conclude that God doesn’t want to answer them.

We might not always expect God to act because of pity on us, but we can always expect Him to honor His word.

Next time you want to pray about certain issues, find out what the word says about them and take that to God. God will always honor His word. Make sure that the word purifies your motive.

Prayer: Teach me your ways o Lord that I may walk in your truth and pray according to your will always. Amen.

HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY 1

Broadcast 3736
Philippians 4:6(NET) Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God

Nkechi wondered why it appeared God wasn’t answering her prayers. It so happened that each time she prayed about her needs, she would pray like this: "God, I have come again, you haven’t done it for me yet oh, I have prayed, I have fasted; I paid my tithes, offerings, and first fruits. I have even given to the poor. Has your word failed in my life? Look at Sandra; she got married last month after getting that good job. Is it that you don’t love me? "

Some Christians are like Nkechi, they attack God with their prayers; carefully listing all the things He has not done. They are not thankful and they actually believe God owes them because of some money they’ve given in church and some good they’ve done. They forget that we are breathing solely because of God’s mercy, and this we cannot pay for.

I would like to let us know that this is the trick of the devil. He likes to blind us to all God is doing for us so we can only see our problems, when in truth, most times, thanksgiving does half of the work in the place of prayer.

One of David’s greatest strengths was his ability to praise and give God thanks through every situation. This should be our attitude too. We must adapt the attitude of gratitude if we must receive our testimonies swiftly.

The Next time you are about to pray, remember to wrap your prayers in the parcel of thanksgiving and praise (see Phil 4:6).

Pray this prayer: Dear Lord, open my eyes to all that you have done for me so that I may always give thanks. Amen.

SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS

Broadcast 3735

1 John 1:8 (NET) If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

A man prayed like this: “Lord, you know that I am no sinner. I have lived righteously before you all these years. Unlike that man there, I pay my tithes and offerings, and I always do what is right…”

The man he looked down upon was crying to God for mercy and grace. He was the one whose prayer was acceptable before God (see Luke 18:9-14).

Even though we are to have unshakable assurance of salvation, Christians are never to be self-righteous. A self-righteous person thinks he has done enough to deserve God’s grace and goodness. He uses his own standards to compare himself with others and gives himself a pass mark. He does not know that God does not judge according to human standards.

A person who has been saved by grace is never self-righteous. He realizes that his righteousness comes from the Lord; that his ability to do what is right is credited to the grace of God that is at work within him (see Phil 2:13). He admits his imperfections because he walks in ever-increasing grace that continually reveals higher dimensions and standards of light and righteousness.

As you go into today, determine to walk in the grace of God and not in self-righteousness- the two do not work together.

Prayer confession: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. My sins are forgiven because of Christ’s precious blood. I am walking in the light and pleasing God in all respects, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN

Broadcast 3734

Luke 8:22(KJV) Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

I am particularly interested in the life story of a madman who caught the attention of heaven. He was insane for years. Every effort to help him failed and he could not be chained. It was so bad that he harmed himself regularly. In this helpless state, Jesus found him and he was healed.

“And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs”. Luke 8:26-27 KJV

If God remembered this mad man forgotten by everyone, know that He has not forgotten you. If He cares for the birds and lilies; He cares even more for you (see Matthew 6:26-29). Do not give in to despair, help is on the way.

There is someone reading this devotional today: You want to begin to engage in something you know is evil because you are tired of hoping and waiting on God. This is the word of the Lord for you today “Help is on the way, hold on."

Go into today knowing that God has not forgotten you. He crossed the lake and calmed the storm just to reach a madman. He will do the same and even more for you. He will come and save you, just lift up your eyes to Him.

Prayer: Lord, let your help locate me in Jesus' name. Amen. Not yet saved? Tap: http://bit.ly/1iTOmol

THE GIFT OF GOD

Broadcast 3733

Romans 6:23(KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Wages are different from gifts. You work to earn a wage, but a gift is received not because you worked to earn it, but because of the benevolence of the person giving it.

When a gift is given to you, all that is required is that you receive it.

Today’s Bible verse shows that the wages of sin is death. The payment for living a sinful life is death. Unfortunately, every human being born into this world was sentenced to living a sinful life. But praise God! He has given us the gift of eternal life so that we might inherit life instead of death. All we have to do to receive this gift is to believe in Christ Jesus the Son of God. God has indeed given us eternal life, and this life is in His son (see 1 John 5:11).

A wage is different from a gift. Death is different from life. The wage is death, but God’s gift is eternal life. Isn’t it great to find out that God has given us the gift called eternal life instead of the wage called death that we all worked for while we lived in sin?

Go into today thanking God for His gift of eternal life. This gift contains all things pertaining to life and Godliness: it contains all the things you need to live a Godly and fulfilled life (see 2 Peter 1:3).

Prayer confession: I receive eternal life. I receive all things I need to live a blessed, fulfilled, Godly life in Jesus name. Amen.

THE GIFT OF GOD 2

Broadcast 3732

Romans 6:23 (KJV) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Chief Mmehie was a very powerful and wicked slave master. It so happened that everyone born into the Uwa village was now born into his compound, and this meant slavery. He was so wicked that by the time a person served him for a lifetime, he would reward that person with a delicious meal that has been poisoned. He paid his slaves with death.

King Idịmma was infinitely more powerful than Chief Mmehie. He sent his son to go and save all the villagers of Uwa village from Chief Mmehie’s slavery. King Idịmma’s son first infiltrated the slave compound like a slave, but later revealed his true nature when he permanently destroyed the great gate of Chief Mmehie’s compound. He announced to all the slaves that they were now free to go; that his father had built houses and Vineyards for all of them and they were now going to live in freedom as princes. Some of the slaves believed and followed him but many of them did not believe. They were deceived by Chief Mmehie’s lies and remained in his compound as slaves.

This story illustrates the reality of the human condition. God has given us the gift of eternal life, but many are still under the deception of the devil. They are still slaves of sin working for death. The only way out of this slavery is to believe in Jesus and follow Him.

As we go into today, let us determine to follow Jesus all the way. Let us also pray for all those we know who are still under the slavery of Satan through sin.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your grace. I ask that you send saving grace to my loved ones who have not yet accepted your salvation, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

ENSLAVED BY SIN?

Broadcast 3731

Romans 6:16 (KJV) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Dare got to a point where he started to wonder whether he was still born again. He had literally been enslaved to certain sins, and it looked impossible for him to come out of them.

Dare had been enslaved by these sins because he yielded himself to them from time to time. The unclean spirits responsible for those sins had enslaved him and he was now demonized even though he was a Christian.

He received deliverance when he opened up to his pastor. His pastor prayed for him and delivered him in the name of Jesus. He maintained his deliverance by living a disciplined life and avoiding appearances of His past sins.

As we can see in today’s Bible text, spiritual slavery to sin is real, and when a person is delivered from such, he must yield himself to righteousness and become a slave of righteousness, or else, he will end up being a slave of sin all over again.

When with the help of the Holy Ghost you chose to walk righteously in all you do, you are yielding yourself to righteousness.

As you go into today, remember that it is those who please God that see His face. Righteousness pleases God and sin displeases Him.

Prayer: ask the Lord to make you a slave of righteousness and deliver you from every bondage of sin. Amen.

HOW TO PUT ON YOUR NEW NATURE

Broadcast 3730

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.

A young ruler asked Jesus what he'll do to have eternal life; Jesus told him “Keep the commandments". Very excited he said “I've kept all the commandments right from my childhood days." Jesus then said, “Sell all that you have, give it to the poor, then come and follow me." The ruler walked away sad. He still loved his riches a little more than he wanted to follow Christ.

Some Christians are comfortable when they're told to observe certain rules and commandments, but like the young ruler, they walk away whenever the truth is told; they are not really ready to follow Christ.

Living a righteous life is not by keeping of rules, regulations, and commandments. Even though a righteous person is a moral person, righteousness is not morality; it is more than what the mind can produce. Righteousness is God's gift and only He can make a person righteous.

1 Corinthians 1:30 shows us that Christ is the one who make us righteous before God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin by dying on the cross for us". But you have to believe in Him and follow Him in order to activate this in your life.

Go into today remembering that God is the one who makes you righteous because you now follow Christ. Put on your new righteous nature by loving God above everything else

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for making me righteous. Amen.

RIGHTEOUSNESS BY GRACE

Broadcast 3729

Galatians 2:21(KJV)  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Sharon: Now that I’m a Christian, How can I be truly righteous and free?

Evelyn: that is a very good question. You see, holiness is something that without it you cannot see the Lord. If you want to be righteous, keep the Ten Commandments, read and understand the laws of God, and follow the laws of our church. When you do these things, you will be righteous before God.

Even though Evelyn had good intentions, she couldn’t be more wrong. She was not showing Sharon the way of righteousness, she was showing her the way of legalism and bondage to laws.

Evelyn should have said something like this: ‘Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Walk and live in the Spirit; study God’s word and pray regularly to enhance fellowship with God who is your father. Come to church and hear God’s word- it is able to renew your mind and make you become like Christ because hearing the word transmits grace'.

Our Bible text today shows that it is possible to frustrate the grace of God in your life by trusting in rules and regulations as a means to accomplish righteousness. The grace of God transforms us from within and empowers us to be righteous naturally.

Go into today renouncing every form of legalism that seeks to frustrate the grace of God in your life.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to cleanse you from every mindset that hinders grace. Amen.

PUT ON YOUR NEW NATURE 3

Broadcast 3728

Ephesians 4:24 (NLT) Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

Growing up for Jerry was very rough, he'd lost both parents at age two and grew up as a teenager wearing torn clothes, sleeping on the street, and sometimes eating from the waste bin. An elderly rich woman had pity on him and took him in. She gave him a room; a wardrobe filled with new clothes and a big bed. This was the first time in years he saw a bed.

Jerry wasn’t used to this new life and would still sleep on the bare floor; he wore the same old torn clothes. This became an embarrassment to the wealthy old woman who adopted him.

Just like Jerry, many Christians today still live in their old life even when Christ has given them new life. Today’s Bible text reads “Put on your new life". This life is yours once you've accepted Jesus as your Lord. You simply need to make the resolute decision to put on your new nature; trusting in the Holy Spirit to help you- He always does.

Go into today knowing that the new nature (life) is already yours but you have to put it on and this is only with the help of the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you put on your new nature.

Pray this Prayer: I shake off all the remnants of the old nature in my life in Jesus' name. I put on the nature of Christ in its fullness in Jesus' name. Amen.

PUT ON YOUR NEW NATURE 2

Broadcast 3727

Rom 6:10-11(NLT) When he (Christ) died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. 11 So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

Pastor John explained to Omeiza that everything Jesus did, He did for us. Jesus lived for us, died for us, and resurrected for us. His glory is also for us (the Church).

Think about it, what glory do you think Jesus was exalted into after his death that He did not have from the beginning of creation? He stripped himself of His glory and became flesh so that we too might have life and glory through His resurrection.

It is interesting how many Christians believe that Christ died for them, but they stop there; they fail to believe that He also resurrected them and is glorified for them. Christ died for us to deliver us from our sins; His death put to death our sinful nature; His resurrection brought to life His godly nature within us, and His glorification guarantees our glorification.

Somebody reading this is receiving a healing today because Jesus has already paid for it. There is another person reading this devotional that is receiving a miracle of provision and abundance today.

Go into this day with renewed assurance that God’s grace is available for you. He has made all things you need available for you through Christ Jesus (see 2 Pet 1:3).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for your grace. I pray you help me walk more in the reality of it. Amen.

PUT ON YOUR NEW NATURE 1

Broadcast 3726

Romans 6:8-11(TMB) If we get included in Christ's sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection.

Omeiza: Pastor, I have been struggling to live a Holy life. After I try so hard, I will later stumble and fall all over again.

Pastor John: Jesus did not call you to struggle; He called you to rest (see Mat 11:28). I need to explain something to you:

Do you remember that no one needed to teach you how to be a sinner?

OM: Yes, it was in my nature since I was a child.

PJ: True, we were all born with a sinful nature. The only way to be free from this nature is by dying (see Rom 6:7). Jesus has died this death for you. You were included in Him when He died for you, and you were in Him when He resurrected (see Rom 6:3-6). You now live a new life and this life is the life of Christ. Understanding this and living the life of Christ is the secret to living above sin.

OM: I don’t understand. But I was not yet born when Christ died?

PJ: Yes, but God knew everything about you before Christ died. Remember that God is the eternal 'I am'; He exists in the past, present, and future all at the same time. To be continued…

Go into today knowing that God does not expect you to live by your own strength, He wants you to live by faith in Christ Jesus through His Spirit (see Zac 4:6).

Prayer confession: I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (NKJV).

WASHING AWAY FEARS 2

Broadcast 3725

Proverbs 10:24 (NET) What the wicked fears will come on him; what the righteous desire will be granted.

Terna was afraid he might lose his job. He was a marketer and was consistently failing to meet his targets. A routine appraisal had just been concluded and he had performed very poorly. “If I lose this job now, I don’t know what I’m going to do,” he thought. He sought the Lord in prayer and fasting concerning this fear and other fears that were lurking in his heart. The Holy Spirit comforted him and his fears started to fade away.

A month later, Terna was transferred to another department. His work there was said to be outstanding; he was so good that the managing director got to know him personally. He later got a big promotion.

Terna’s desires came to pass instead of his fears because he sought the Lord concerning them.

In life, there are fears and cares that we face. The Lord wants us to cast all of them upon Him because He cares for us (see 1 Pet 5:7). One way you will know that you have successfully transferred your cares and fears to the Lord is that those fears and anxiety in your heart will begin to fade away.

God’s word for you today is that your desires will be granted, not your fears.

Go into today knowing that your desires will be granted because Christ Jesus has made you righteous by His blood, and His grace empowers you to walk righteously.

Prayer: Thank the Lord for the opportunity to seek Him.

Ask the Lord to wash away every fear from your heart and increase your faith.

WASHING AWAY FEARS 1

Broadcast 3724
Psalm 34:4 (NET) I sought the Lord's help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Sometimes, fear is evidence of a negative spiritual reality that is on its way to becoming physical, just like faith is evidence of a positive spiritual reality that is on its way to becoming physical. We experience these because we are spirit beings. When we have dealt with our fears, it means the issues generating those fears have also been dealt with. We deal with fears by seeking the Lord. He is the one we have in heaven (the spirit realm) and He takes care of us (see Ps 73:25).

We seek the Lord by praying to Him and telling Him about our fears. We can sometimes fast because fasting is a spiritual exercise that helps us better concentrate on seeking God’s face.

In today’s Bible text, did you notice that David did not say the Lord delivered Him from all his troubles but he said the Lord delivered him from all his fears? I believe he understood that the secret to sustained victory is overcoming your fears.

Fear is more dangerous than many people think; it is the vehicle through which darkness usually invades. People require faith to deal with God and receive from Him, but fear is a negative force against faith. Many times, when the Lord speaks to His people, he usually begins by saying ‘fear not’ (see Gen 15:1, 21:17, 26:24)

The Lord is telling you today to FEAR NOT because He is with you. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you (see Deu 31:6, Mat 28:20b).

Prayer: Thank the Lord for being there for you in heaven and on earth (See Ps 73:25).

Mention all your fears to the Lord. Ask Him to take them away.

INSTRUMENTS FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

Broadcast 3723

Romans 6:12-14 (NLT) Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God

When Ronke felt a little tired at the office, she would go to Ugo’s office and they would both ‘discuss’ about what is going on in the office; and what is going on in people’s houses. Ugo seemed to know everything about everyone in that office.

After this continued for three weeks, it dawned on Ronke one day that she was now a professional gossip, and yet she knew better than that. She realized that she had been using her mouth as an instrument serving sin. She repented that day.

The reason why many Christians give their bodies to sin is because they enjoy it. It wouldn’t be tempting if it were not enjoyable to the flesh. But since we are not to walk in the flesh but in the spirit, it is our responsibility to remind our minds that we are dead to sin but alive to righteousness.

The mind needs constant reminders because it has been trained to walk in the flesh since you were born. But you are now born again, so your mind needs to be reminded to walk in your new nature.

Go into today reminding yourself that you are now a new creature with a new nature. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk in your new nature.

Prayer confession: I am dead to sin but alive towards God. I am walking in the divine nature: I am walking above greed, fear, pride, and all forms of lust, in Jesus' name. Amen.

ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH

Broadcast 3722

Matthew 9:29 (NIV) Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"

Looking at the works of the Lord Jesus in Matthew chapters 8 and 9, you would quickly observe that for everyone that believed Him for a miracle, He operated to the tune of their faith. For the synagogue leader who believed that if Jesus would come to his house and lay his hands on his daughter she would come alive, he had it that way (see Matt 9:18). For the woman with the issue of blood who believed she could touch the hem of his garment and be made whole, she also had it according to her faith (see Matt 9:21). And for the centurion whose faith Jesus commended, he believed Jesus needed only to speak the word and his servant would be made whole, and yes! He was made whole (see Matt 8:8).

God’s resources are inexhaustible, the Bible says He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we can ask or think (see Eph 3:20). There is no need in heaven or earth too great for God to meet. We need to take off our ”myopic goggles” and start seeing God for who He really is- the Omnipotent God.

Go into today believing God for great things in righteousness, knowing that He is well able to bring them to pass.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for every time I doubted you. Right now I believe you are able to deal with every situation in my life, and I know you will. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS

Broadcast 3721
Proverbs 24:10 (KJV) If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

As an undergraduate university student, Sola never read except for tests or exams. He passed his exams none the less. At a point he became so confident that he boldly told his friends that ‘I am good with emergency reading'. In his third year he fell sick two weeks before his exams, he therefore could not do his emergency reading and for the very first time, he failed.

Sola did not fail because he couldn't cope; instead, he failed because he wasn't prepared for the exam. Likewise, children of God have to be prepared always, we must not wait until we are tempted before we begin to prepare. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.

How then do we prepare?

- By watching and praying. Not at certain times but always. Matthew 26:41a (KJV) “Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation".

- By taking heed to God's word
Psalm 119:9 (NLT) “How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word"

Psalm 119:11(NLT) “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Go into the day knowing that not being fervent in watching, praying and studying the word of God diminishes your strength against the devil.

Prayer: Pray for the Holy Spirit's assistance to watch, pray and study.

RIGHT BELIEVING

 Broadcast 3720

Romans 6:11 (KJV) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

When Eleojo was thirteen years old, he was introduced to smoking. As he grew older, he became addicted to other drugs. He received Christ when he was on campus at the age of 22. But he had a big struggle overcoming his addictions: he believed it was impossible to conquer them and certain sins. His victory started when he fully understood Rom 6:11.

Our Bible text today says we should consider ourselves dead to sin but alive unto God through Christ. Many times, Christians are defeated because they still consider themselves alive to sin: they still believe in their hearts that they cannot conquer certain sins.

You see, everything we do with God is done by faith. Our faith is based on God’s word and not on our experiences or our feelings. What today’s text reveals to us is that we should change the way we see ourselves; we should begin to see ourselves as dead to sin. We should believe this and say what we believe. This is how we cooperate with God to allow his transformation.

As you go into today, determine from this moment to believe and say only the things that God says concerning you. You should no longer believe according to your weaknesses or your past experiences but according to God’s word.

Go into today meditating on this: 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

*You will act right when you start believing right.

Prayer Confession: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am walking in the Divine nature and pleasing God in all respects. The grace of God is empowering me to do this, in Jesus name. Amen.

GRACE 2

Broadcast 3719

Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Sin attracts destruction against us; grace repels this destruction which is the rightful consequence for sin. The more there is sin, the more there is grace needed to repel the consequence. This (grace) is all because of God’s great love for us. He loves us who don’t deserve His love. How do we respond to this great love? We respond by loving God with all our hearts.

If a man is drowning in the middle of the ocean and someone he doesn’t know comes with a boat to rescue him, that person has saved his life. If the man jumps back into the ocean because he knows there is now a boat, he is an unreasonable man. The sharks may be waiting the next time he jumps into the water.

A man who has been saved by grace but later continues to sin because he knows there is grace is an unreasonable man. He is playing with danger.

Sin is not just disobedience against God, if it was, God would simply have forgiven us and Jesus wouldn’t have to die. Sin is a transgression of the law of spiritual life; it is a toxic spiritual force that has to be atoned for (cleansed). That is why Jesus needed to come and die to atone for our sins. Your salvation is free but it is not cheap; it cost God His only begotten son.

Go into today determined to Love God more than ever before. This love will keep you from sin.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the depths of His love for you.
Ask for more grace to live above sin.

GRACE

Broadcast 3718

Romans 6:1(KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

In order to properly understand this Bible verse we would need to examine a verse in the previous chapter.

Romans 5:20 (NET) but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more.  What does this mean?

The first time grace was mentioned in the Bible was in Genesis 6:8. Understanding the context in which it was mentioned will help us.

In Genesis 6, there was great corruption and wickedness on the earth. This was the product of sin, and it repented God that He created Humankind. The Lord said, “I will wipe humankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth – everything from humankind to animals… ”

You must understand that when God says a thing, it has become law in the realms of creation. There was now a new order, humankind was to be destroyed on the earth because of iniquity. BUT Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

The reason why Noah and his household were spared was because of grace. We are all descendants of Noah. The reason why humankind keeps sinning and does not experience total destruction is because this grace keeps increasing to accommodate for the sins. Just think of grace for a moment as a quantitative measure, if Noah and his household needed five measures, how many measures do you think the entire humankind needs today?

So as sin increased, grace also had to be multiplied on the earth so as to keep humankind from destruction. This is the connection between sin and grace… to be continued.

Go into today remembering that the grace of God is the reason why you are still alive and born again.

Thank the Lord for making you a partaker of His grace.

FORGIVENESS 2

Broadcast 3717

2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

After Monica explained to her fiancĂ© that she was still an unbeliever when she had the abortion Cynthia told him about, she apologized and explained to him that the only reason Cynthia knew about this was that she sought Cynthia’s counsel on how best to tell him about her shameful past.

When Cynthia heard that Monica and Gerald were still going ahead with their wedding as planned, she felt humiliated. She later decided to go to Monica and apologize for what she had done. Monica told her that she had already forgiven her.

Even though Monica forgave Cynthia, she was wise enough to discontinue her friendship with Cynthia. Cynthia was not born again and Monica always knew this. Even if she didn’t know this before, she now knew.

One of the wisest things you can do for yourself is to obey all God’s precepts; they will protect you from unnecessary trouble.

Being nice and friendly with unbelievers is different from letting an unbeliever be your friend and confidant. Doing this is simply foolishness because the unbeliever will end up hurting you, either spiritually or physically; intentionally or unintentionally. An unbeliever you are yoked with will infect you with his unbelief, whether you like it or not. The worst thing that can happen to a Christian is unbelief; when he loses his faith.

Go into today asking the Lord to send you true friends that believe in Him. Determine today to wisely discontinue close friendship with those who do not truly believe in Jesus.

Prayer: Thank God for giving you life; thank Him for relationships.

Ask for the wisdom to make the right friendships.

ESTEEM THE WORD

Broadcast 3716

Job 23:12[KJV] Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Some people who read yesterday’s Devotional were offended by it, and I can understand why. They did not understand how someone like Monica will still have a real relationship with the Lord after what she had done. The truth is, what Monica did when she was an unbeliever was a horrible thing, abortion is actually murder. But she repented and God forgave her. God does not judge people for their past mistakes they have repented of, He judges them based on the way they respond to His word.

Now let’s talk about the way people respond to God’s word. I have come to learn that the way to know if someone is truly born again is not by what church they attend or the things they say, even though these are important, they can be faked and there are many morally sound unsaved people. The way people respond to God’s word is the way to know whether or not they are born again. Anyone who has no regard for the word of God has no regard for God and does not really believe in God. Such a person cannot bring forth the fruits of righteousness because the transformation that produces such fruit comes by God’s word. Jesus purges us by His word so that we may be fruitful (see John 15:3). The only way a person can truly walk above sin is by letting God’s word dominate his heart (see Psalm 119:11).

Go into today determining to regard God’s word above your daily bread.

Prayer: Thank the Lord for sending His word to transform you into His nature.

Ask the Lord to empower you to walk in the fullness of His will for your life.

FORGIVENESS

Broadcast 3715
Matthew 6:15 (NET) But if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive you your sins.
Cynthia betrayed and offended Monica in a very bad way. She told Monica’s fiance that Monica once had an abortion. This was something that Monica was still trying to find words with which to tell him, and she shared this burden with Cynthia her best friend. Monica actually had an abortion many years ago when she was still an unbeliever. but now she was saved and had repented of such ways.

Monica now found it impossible to forgive Cynthia. But she didn’t know that this was exactly what the enemy of her soul wanted.

When Monica needed help, she cried to the Lord as usual, but the heavens appeared to be closed against her. She was worried and kept asking the Lord why His presence was no longer in her life like before. She found today’s Bible verse and received deliverance.

Jesus reveals to us that our heavenly father forgives our trespasses. The only reason God will not forgive us is if we refuse to forgive others who have trespassed against us. Anyone who refuses to forgive others is only showing that he does not appreciate and accept what God has done for him in forgiving him for his many sins. He is also proving to the heavens that he does not truly possess the nature of God.

As you go into today, remember that choosing to forgive is choosing to walk in the Spirit; it is in keeping with the nature of God.

Prayer:
Ask the Lord for grace to forgive those who have offended you.

Ask the Lord to empower you to be more like Him every day and in every way. Amen. You’re not safe if you’re not saved. Want to be saved? Click here: https://streamglobe.org/33-2/

YOU SHALL FLOURISH

Broadcast 3714
Psalm 92:12 (AMP) The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].

The palm tree is a very useful and strong tree; one very important thing about the palm tree is that it is evergreen. It does not wither when all other plants around it wither.

The word God has for you today is that you will flourish like the palm tree. When others say there is a casting down, you will say there is a lifting up. Your growth will never end and you shall be incorruptible.

A palm tree does not struggle to grow; all that is needed is for it to remain planted in the right place.

Your growth and prosperity in life shall not be a function of struggle but a function of grace. All you need to do is to make sure you remain planted in the Lord.

As you go into this day, make up your mind to focus more on abiding in Christ and doing His will- this is the secret to true success. When you do this, you will notice that the Lord will take care of every aspect of your life.

Prayer: thank the Lord for bringing you into this day. Thank the Lord for the grace that makes you a Christian. Ask the Lord to help you abide in Him all through the year. Amen.
