Open the eyes of my heart Lord

Broadcast 3928

2 Kings 6:17 (KJV) “And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
If there is anything we need this season, it’s that the Lord would open our eyes.

In light of this need, there are four kinds of sight we need this season:

1. HIGH SIGHT: David in Psalms 121:1 cried out “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” This season, learn how to look up. In the midst of all the economic hardship, ethnic and religious crises, insecurity and so on, our help will come from heaven alone. Don’t look at man, lift up yours to God and learn how to look to Him for help.

2. FORE SIGHT: God has great plans for your life. Jeremiah 29:11. You may not look like it right now, but learn how to trust God with your future in-spite of the present circumstances. If you have foresight, you will value people more than things.

3. HIND SIGHT: This is the ability to remember what God has done for you in the past. Never forget those blessings, miracles and answered prayers, because, when things get tough, these will remind you that God is still faithful.

4. INSIGHT: God created you in His image and deposited in you all that you would need to fulfill your purpose here on earth. Don’t look down on yourself. If you take time to look inwards, you will see that there’s something good in there.

So, friend, as you go into this day, let your heart cry and desire be that the Lord will open the eyes of your heart that you may see.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to understand that you’re always with me and that your power can do all things, Amen.

Inviting God through thanksgiving

Broadcast 3927
Click here for the Audio Version: streamglobe.org/aud3927

John 6:11(NET) Then Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed the bread to those who were seated. He then did the same with the fish, as much as they wanted.
I once heard the story of a great servant of God who had a cook that was heavily possessed with demons. Each time she cooked for him, she would cast a spell on the food. But before he ate his food every time, he would give thanks and the spell would be removed. Unknown to her, the man of God knew all she was doing, but never fired her.

When her day of deliverance came, she was the one who confessed all she had been doing and how she would see her demonic spell leave the food each and every time. His secret was thanksgiving.

Have you noticed that Jesus gave thanks each time he broke bread (see Matthew 14:19, Luke 22:19) ? Have you noticed that He also gave thanks before he raised Lazarus from the dead? (See John 11:41). One of the easiest ways to usher God into a situation is to give Him thanks. When you acknowledge God by thanking Him, you are inviting His presence into whatever you are thanking Him for.

As you go into today, determine to magnify God in your life by being thankful in all things. This is the easiest way to invite God and see His mighty power at work in your life. Read 1 Thess 5:18 and Psalm 22:3 in KJV.

Prayer confession: from now henceforth, I will thank the Lord in all situations; I will experience a greater dimension of His power and glory in my life. Amen.

The joy of His salvation

Broadcast 3926
Click here for the Audio Version: streamglobe.org/aud3926

Isa 12:3 (KJV) Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

Everyone in the office was sure that Alex was a Christian. His high moral way of life could be attested to by his colleagues. Also, Alex made efforts to share with them the gospel. However, Alex did not make a single convert among his colleagues. In fact, it appeared they were just not interested in hearing him. This bothered Alex for long, and he kept praying to God about it. One day, he looked into the mirror and saw his own face; stern and unsmiling. He himself was amazed. He said to himself 'this man in the mirror does not look happy. How can he convince me to adopt his way of life?' He discovered he was not radiating one of the most important ingredients of his salvation- joy. Of course, he changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. He noticed afterwards how colleagues would come to him saying 'Tell us about this your Jesus'.

When Phillip preached the gospel in Samaria, the Bible said 'there was great joy in that city' (Acts 8:5-8). When the Ethiopian eunuch understood the good news from Phillip, the Bible said 'he went on his way rejoicing' (Acts 8:26-40). David at some point in his life prayed to God to restore to him 'the joy of Your salvation' (Psalms 51:12-13). And our main text reveals how it is with joy that we can maximize the benefits of our being saved. Then sinners can see our joy and turn to the Lord.

Go into today radiating the joy of the Holy Ghost. Let that joy flow into the lives of others as they come in contact with you.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to advertise your salvation by the deep joy that only You can give. Let this be my experience from now on. Amen.

The path of salvation

Broadcast 3925
Audio version link at the end of this message
1 Cor 1:18 (NET) For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are BEING saved it is the power of God.

Jide: Pastor, what is happening with sis Clair? She no longer comes to Church and she has really changed.

Pastor: We have been praying for her. I have talked to her several times. let's keep praying for her to be restored

Jide: That is one thing I don’t understand. How come people can backslide after becoming children of God? Because physically speaking, it is impossible for me to stop being a child of my parents.

Pastor: One lesson the Lord has taught me is that our salvation is a continuous process until we become exactly like the Lord Jesus. This journey of salvation will end the day we see the Lord and become exactly as He is (see 1 John 3:2).

What really happens when a person accepts Christ is that he leaves the path of darkness and starts on the path of salvation. As he walks with the Lord and learns more and more, the Lord’s grace and glory is multiplied in his life and he becomes more and more like the Lord through God’s power.

Unlike physical birth, our spiritual birth happened because we chose to follow Christ according to the will of God. If we now chose not to follow Christ anymore, we are backsliding and leaving the faith. That is the reason why some people’s name will be removed from the book of life (see Rev 3:5).

Go into today knowing that God has given you the power to become His son.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you use this mighty power to become all that He wants you to be.

Strength to stand

Broadcast 3924
Audio version link at the end of this message
Luke 21:36(AMP) “ Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet, attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.”
It is important for us to pay more attention to what the Lord is saying in today’s Bible passage. As Christians, we need to wake up, wake up in the place of prayer; wake up in the place of meditative study of the word of God. Those who will survive the tough times as Christians are those who meditate on God’s word; watching and praying. Our Lord did not just caution us to keep awake and be prayerful to survive the tough times, you see, we need strength to stand before the Son of Man.

Friend, as for me, I want to see His face. I want to trust Him to take me through all these things and give me strength to stand before Him when he returns. I don’t want to be ashamed at His appearance, because many will be. I want to resemble Him, He is coming for those that look like Him. So what must I do? I must not give up on Him now. He hasn’t given up on me. What if I fall? I must stand up, and get back into the race. Micah 7:8 says ” Rejoice not against me, O my enemy! When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me.”

Dear friend, keep awake and be watchful at all times, pray for strength to escape all these things and to stand before the Son of Man.

Prayer: Father please grant me the grace to keep awake and to be alert at all times. Help me to run this race till I reach the finish line, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Discipline of perseverance

Broadcast 3923
Audio version link at the end of this message

Hebrews 12:1 (AMP)Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.

The discipline of perseverance confronts us to:
· DIVEST: We must throw off every besetting sin. Our besetting sins are unique to us. They may not tempt others, but they slay us as we swill their seeming sweetness. Probing deeper, we must cast off everything that hinders us- even the good things. If we don’t, we will never run as we ought.

· RUN: Then we must run our own race, the race God has marked out for us, your race is not my race, and my race is not yours. You can finish your race. It is God’s will. And He will give you the grit to persevere as you run.

· FOCUS: We must focus on Jesus. There must be no distracted glances. Jesus must cover the sky. He must be our center. And we must focus on His focus and His joy because it is our joy. His joy set before us will give us the power to endure, even despising the world’s disdain.

· CONSIDER: So we are to consider Him. Our lives are to be spent considering how he lived.
We are to run like Jesus did. We are to run with Him. We are to run towards Him. We are to fix our eyes on Him. We are to focus on His focus. He is to be our perpetual consideration.

Go into today determined to run the race He has for you as you lean on Him.
*Culled from “Disciplines of a Godly Man” by R. Kent Hughes.

They that be with us

Broadcast 3922
Audio version link at the end of this message

1 John 4:4 (NET) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It was the third day now and Mary's mother couldn't sleep. It came to her knowledge that her arc enemy, Memunat, bragged among her friends that Mary will soon fall very ill and die. Mary had unknowingly stepped on a powerful charm specially prepared with her name. Mary refused to worry or do anything about this; it surprised her mother who fruitlessly ran from pillar to post.

Six months later, Mary was back in the village to visit her mother. Mary now explained to her mother why she was not afraid of the envious woman's charm or spell, and why it could not work against her; she told her mother that she was now a child of God, that the Holy Spirit in her was infinitely greater than the greatest power they feared in their village, so no charms could ever hurt her. Mary’s mother now believed in the Lord Jesus because of this.

Mary was immune to demonic attacks because she walked in the reality of God's word. She didn't just believe in the Lord by mental ascent, she was now living her life under the government of Christ.

There are many Christians today who still experience demonic attacks because they still fear what the world fears(see Isaiah 8:12), and these fears ultimately lead them to do what the world would do. Consequently, they end up having the same experiences as people of the world.

Go into today knowing that the power that works in you is the greatest power in the universe. You are to fear no evil because Christ lives in you.

Prayer Confession: I am walking in the fullness of what Christ has paid for; I am growing from glory to glory; from power to power. Amen

Destined to serve God

Broadcast 3921
Audio version link at the end of this message
Act 13:36 (KJV) For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

One day the Lord Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee and he saw two brothers who were professional fishermen. Jesus invited them to follow Him so He would make them 'fishers of men' (Mat. 4:18-19).

As human beings, we train ourselves and acquire skills with the aim to make a living. As children of God, we ought to allow God guide us by His will because we were destined to serve Him. Moses had the best education in Egypt and proceeded to learn the skill of shepherding. He eventually served God by leading God's people out of bondage. David was the Sweet Psalmist of Israel and the shepherd boy for his family. He eventually served God's purpose as king of Israel. Our Lord Jesus was the famous carpenter in Nazareth until He stepped up to serve God's eternal purpose.
Serving God is not just a call from the secular to the ministry. For the child of God, life is ministry from one level to another. We should learn the skills, and prepare for life with the mind-set to serve God's purpose in our own generation. This is the sense of mission that makes it easy to obey God whenever He invites us to even a higher service to Him.

Go about your education, profession or vocation today knowing you are here to serve God. Be the best in what you do as service to the Lord Jesus (see Colossian 3:23-24).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to fulfil my destiny of service to you. Help me to serve you in every little way today and always. Amen.

Bless and do not curse

Broadcast 3920
Audio version link at the end of this message

Rom 12:14 (NIV) Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

When armed robbers entered the apartment of the Akande’s, at some point, they attempted to spray everyone with acid. The acid spilled on some of the children and wounded them badly. What people in the other apartments wondered was where the armed robbers got the acid they used. It so happened that the Akande’s had a gallon of acid in their apartment, and the armed robbers found it. ‘What were they doing with so much acid in their home?’ One neighbor frantically asked?

Curses are like spiritual acid. Even though Christians have the power to invoke them, we are not to use them. We are to bless instead of curse. The reason is because God has taken upon Himself the awesome responsibility to judge all wickedness. Let’s leave judgment to God because the Lord’s judgment is the most just. Even though people may escape human justice, no one can escape God’s judgment.

When a person is accustomed to pronouncing curses, curses may not be too far from his dwelling place. When a person is one who blesses, his life would be full of blessings. An African adage says you cannot rub oil on someone’s hair and your hand left without oil.

I believe there would have been no Apostle called Paul if Stephen were like many Christians today that pronounce curses on their enemies. Paul was one of those who sanctioned the murder of Stephen, but instead of pronouncing doom on all who murdered him, Stephen interceded for their souls.

Go into today, deciding to yield to the spirit of Christ within you. This Spirit blesses even when cursing would have been justified. (Read Luke 9:52-55).

Prayer: Father, please help me use the Authority you have given me to advance your Kingdom agenda. Amen.

Divine Nature

Broadcast 3919
Audio version link at the end of this message

1 John 4:10 (NET) In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

"You need to get out there and walk more in love; this is the solution to your problem. You are a child of God now". This is what Pastor Ross told one brother who came complaining about diminishing spiritual strength and fears of demonic attacks.

We can never say this too much "God loves you". His love for you is not because you loved Him first or because you have chosen to serve Him. He loved you first and sent Christ to die for you and save you from your sins. Your sin gave Satan power and control over you. God is love and He wants you to also walk in love because this is the way to activate His nature that you have now received through faith in Christ Jesus. This new nature is characterised by power and it always overcomes and cannot be conquered (see 1 John 5:4); it cannot be limited by any power in heaven or on earth. It is the divine nature that never dies or sees decay; it is the nature that brings life and strength even to your mortal body; causing you to live above sickness and disease.

Go into today knowing that your new divine nature is activated by love because God is love. When you love, you are manifesting God’s primary attribute, and this gives rise to manifestations of his other attributes of might, power, glory, etc.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for giving me the opportunity to share in your divine nature. Please help me to always walk in this nature, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Priority of the word

Broadcast 3918
Audio version link at the end of this message
Acts 6:2 (KJV) Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

There came a time when the early Church needed some more administration especially in the distribution of food among brethren. The apostles weighed the options and decided their primary assignment must not change even in the face of an emergency. They should never allow their devotion to God's word suffer by attending to even legitimate contingencies.

A similar scenario played out at Bethany. Jesus was in the house of Mary and Martha. Martha thought cooking for the Lord was more important and accused her sister Mary of not being helpful in that regard. But Mary, sitting at the Lord's feet listening to God's word was commended by the Lord. Jesus arbitrated between the two sisters this way; "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." (Luk 10:41-42).

Scriptures tell us that God magnifies His word above His name (Psa 138:2). And He is committed to someone who 'trembles' at His word (see Isa 66:1-2). The man who 'trembles' at God's word will resist any activity (no matter how legitimate) that threatens his attention to God's word.

We give priority to God's word in our lives when we observe a regular time of studying Scriptures. We also do this by listening to Spirit-filled servants of God. And also obeying God's words when we know them. Go and do likewise today and always.

Prayer confession: Lord, I put Your word first in my life. I trust you to put my life in order. Amen.

Walking in God’s love

Broadcast 3917
Audio version link at the end of this message
1 John 4:11-12(NET) Dear friends, if God so loved us, then we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God resides in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Love is what proves that God dwells in you. What makes the difference is our ability to love as Christians. To love the way God loves is impossible except you have God living in you and empowering you to do so.

Any man walking in the flesh cannot love because anyone walking in the flesh is naturally selfish and self-seeking. The God kind of love is characterised by selflessness. This kind of love can only be manifested by a man who knows God. This is the true kind of love(1 John 4:7).

If you truly know God, you will also know that He is all-powerful and all you will get in life comes from Him. This knowledge also empowers you to love others selflessly because you know that what you get in life comes from God and you don't need to be selfish because your portion in life is secure in God.

Go into today with a desire to know God more. Determine to live a love filled life inspired by a growing knowledge of God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me so much. I pray you help me truly love others too, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Not Guilty

Broadcast 3916
Audio version link at the end of this message
1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
It is actually a sense of guilt and condemnation that makes a believer say things like; "I am just an OLD SINNER". That is not true because you cannot be saved and still be a sinner. If you are saved, you are not even "OLD" much less a sinner. Scripture says "if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW creature and old things are passed away, behold, all things have become NEW (see 2 Cor 5:17).

Today's meditation is for believers who have fallen into sin and have found it difficult to reconcile with the Father.

Confess your sin, pray for forgiveness and believe that the blood of Jesus is enough to erase that sin.

Our Scripture today tells us "he is FAITHFUL and just to forgive you" therefore, Child of God, there is nothing against you any longer. Jesus took away everything that was against us on His cross. Colossians 2:14

Romans 5:1 says "therefore being justified (declared not guilty) by faith, we have peace with God" You are justified and it is God Himself that declared you justified.

Go into today knowing that it is God that justifies you, therefore no one can declare you guilty.

PRAYER: Father I thank you for making me new in Christ. I ask that you help me see myself the way you see me. Amen.

What should I say?

Broadcast 3915
Audio version link at the end of this message
Isaiah 40:6 (KJV)The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry?

Many Christians do not evangelize because they apparently do not know what to say. 'How do I begin? What if I am asked questions? Which verse do I quote?' These are questions that come up.

Although we have been blessed by the word of the gospel and bear witness to it, it however does not originate from us; we are only vessels of transmission of this glorious word.

Each person is unique in their person and needs, and God knows them well. So you just have to trust God for His help. God's promise in Luke 21:15 says 'I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict'. We must go out boldly to preach the gospel with this understanding.

Relying on the Holy Spirit is key in sharing the gospel, but we must not neglect the place of knowing the word. Col 3:16 says 'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another'. John 14:26 says 'But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you'.

So, in addition to having the desired help from God by the right words to say, when we have the word of God rich on our inside, the Holy Spirit can help draw from this Word Bank by remembrance.

Go into today with this conviction: The Spirit of the LORD speaks by me; his word is on my tongue (2 Sa 23:2)

Prayer: Father, I repent for not trusting you enough to help me share the gospel. Through your word today, I am assured and confident that I am not alone in this labor of soul winning. Thank you Jesus.

What should I say? 2

Broadcast 3914
Audio version link at the end of this message

Isaiah 40:6(KJV) The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry?

A young doctor decided to start sharing the gospel with his patients. But it was easier for him to do so for patients who had a Christian background. One day, he had to attend to a very wealthy patient who was a Muslim. She was dying of a terminal disease, and he felt compassion for her. The day he decided to preach to her, he first offered to pray for her. He had planned to use that as a starting point in preaching because he did not know what to say to her. Even though she knew he was a Christian, She was happy when he offered to pray for her. As he began to pray, he felt led to pray in tongues and did so for about 2 minutes. At the end of the prayer, the woman asked him where he learned to speak fluent Arabic. He responded that he didn’t know any word in Arabic. Her mother was an Arab so she understood Arabic perfectly. She told him that he said she would receive her healing after she accepts Christ into her life. He apparently did not know the meaning of what he was saying when he prayed in tongues. In fact, he didn’t pray in any special tongue that sounded different to him, he just prayed in tongues the normal way he always did.

This was a sign to the woman that made her believe in the Lord Jesus. She later received her miraculous healing.

When we obey the Lord’s command to preach the gospel, we don’t need to worry about what to say. All we need to do is to make sure we are obeying. As we obey, the Lord Himself will give us what to say and empower us to do exploits in His name.

Go into today knowing that what to say is not the problem, God will always provide the right words as you obey Him. Ask the Lord for wisdom to be a soul winner.

Singing

Broadcast 3913
Audio version link at the end of this message

Matthew 26:30 (ESV) And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives
Singing is one of the things God wants us to always do as Christians.

After they had eaten and talked, Jesus and his disciples sang a hymn before leaving for their next destination. When we come together as believers, such singing should not be lacking. Ephesians 5:18-19 makes us understand that being filed with the spirit entails not only singing and making joyful melody in our hearts to the Lord with thanks giving, but excitedly talking to one another in psalms and hymns too. O What Joy!

Singing is an outflow of our spirit. With the inner source of joy resident in our spirit, singing would naturally flow out. This joy is a function of our fellowship with the Holy Spirit. We should never let ourselves get to the point where we are no more excited about the Holy Spirit’s presence within us.

Paul said, I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also (1Cor 14:15). And David said, My heart is ready, God, my heart is ready; I will sing, and make music for you (Ps 57:7). Make every circumstance a singing opportunity. Remember Paul and Silas in prison.

Go into today bearing in mind that the Lord has said in Isa 65:14 “Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart”. Do not let your heart be ever void of thanksgiving, worship and singing to the Lord. This is a secret of being filled with the Spirit at all times.

Prayer: Lord, fill me afresh with your Spirit, that my joy may awake and cause me to sing always in Jesus Name. Make a joyful noise!

Exchange for the soul

Broadcast 3912
Audio version link at the end of this message
Mar 8:37 (KJV) Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
What will a man not give in exchange for his life? A certain man took ill and was flown abroad. He later died. What made news was not his death, but how much he paid the hospital abroad to stay alive. Nobody knew he had that huge amount of money anywhere.

Whenever a man is faced with survival, he is ready to give anything- no matter how dear- in exchange for his life. Men have traded their faith for their lives. Women have traded their children for their own lives. People have betrayed their friends to keep their own lives. There is a saying common among South West Nigerians 'If pieces of a hot coal fall on both you and your child, you would shake yours off before that of your child'. It makes sense for a man to fight for his life first above all else. But why do men give away their souls so easily? For what is the life without the soul?

In our Bible text for today, the Lord Jesus Christ rated the soul above the life. He said in Mark 8:35-37 'For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?'

So how seriously do you take your soul? Is your soul saved by the Savior Jesus Christ? If that life of yours ends today, what assurance do you have for your soul? How often have you traded your soul for pleasures, riches and the likes? The Lord Jesus paid the price you could never afford for your soul. Do not exchange it for even the whole world.

Go into today with the grace and determination to guard your soul above all else.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask for more grace. Help me never to trade my soul for anything else. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

God's masterpiece

Broadcast 3911
Audio version link at the end of this message
Ephesians 2:10 (KJV) For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Further Reading: Leviticus 20:26

A missionary spent his entire life preaching to the people of one village. This missionary lived, died and was buried in this village. Much later, a set of missionaries arrived the same village and preached Christ to them. Surprisingly, the villagers exclaimed ‘we know Christ, he lived here among us’. The villagers were referring to the dead missionary whose life radiated the life and nature of Christ as described by the new missionaries. The entire community now turned to God because of the life the old missionary had lived.

You are God's master piece; you are created for good works. Are you living up to expectation? How many will come to Jesus because of your attitude? Who are you when you're not in Church? Remember that your life should preach Christ.

What difference exists between you and the world?

Here are some of the differences between a master piece and other pieces:
The master piece is exclusively reserved for the Master, he will not sell it.
Every other piece is a copy of the master piece.

Go into today asking yourself these questions:
Is God proud of me?
Can God ask others to copy me? Do I fit as a master piece? If you know you do not measure to the standard of God's master piece, spend the day talking to God and determine to live for God from today.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to be an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Amen(1 Timothy 4:12).

Activated for good works

Broadcast 3910
Audio version link at the end of this message
Ephesians 2:10 (NET) For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

After Karo gave his life to Christ, he realized that he became more organized and productive. He had studied chemical engineering in the university, and he had a lot of interest in creating more efficient batteries. As he began to spend time with the Lord and meditate on the Lord’s goodness, he realized that his mind opened and he could develop a formula that would create a more efficient battery than the ones currently available.

The presence of the Lord in a life makes all the difference. The Power of God now works within a believer for good works. Many Christians do not walk in this reality because they have not received a revelation of power at work within them.

As a child of God, know that your portion in life is always good. God has empowered you and given you the mandate for good works. God knew all about you before He chose you and ordained you for good works. So His mighty power will smooth out all your imperfections to cause you to walk in the fullness of His will as you yield to Him.

Go into today knowing that you are a gift from God to this world. Your presence here makes the world a better place because of your good works.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you do all the good works He has originally purposed for you to do. Amen.—Abraham Damilola Arigi

We are to make disciples

Broadcast 3909
Audio version link at the end of this message
Matt 28:19-20 (NIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

This was the first time Dr. Femi and his team was doing this. They were mostly doctors and other medical professionals who felt the need to minister free healthcare to a community and preach the gospel in the process. They recorded a massive harvest of souls but they knew it was just the beginning; they also needed to make them disciples of Christ.

Jesus has given every Christian an awesome assignment. We are to make disciples not just of individuals but of nations. How do we do this? We are to first preach the gospel to them. We are to be witnesses for Christ with our lives and words. Secondly, we are to baptize them; this also entails introducing them to the Holy Spirit. Anyone who is baptized in the Holy Ghost receives grace to do exploits.

Thirdly, we are to teach them things we ourselves have learnt from the Lord over time. This will help establish them. This takes longer time.

Go into today knowing that you have a responsibility from the Lord to make disciples; a responsibility for which you will give account before God someday. You can make disciples of your children, your employees, your colleagues, your pupils, friends, family members and even strangers.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for saving me and making me a light to show the way to others. I pray for more grace to do this more effectively, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Looking unto Jesus

Broadcast 3908
Audio version link at the end of this message
Numbers 21:9 (KJV) And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Whoever looked to the serpent made out of brass was healed! Some died because they didn’t look. Just as it was in the wilderness, not all that live after Christ's death will be saved, only those that will continue to look to Him will. Jesus was made sin for us (see 2 Cor 5:21) so that anyone bitten by sin may look unto Him and receive freedom from sin and the wages of sin (death). Looking unto Jesus means trusting in Him alone for your salvation.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb12:2 KJV).

Note that it is “LOOKING" and not “LOOK" because we are to look and continue to look unto Jesus. It takes determination, endurance and discipline, empowered by grace, to be able to look to Jesus continually.

When we're able to constantly look on Jesus, He then becomes the author and finisher of our faith. This means He brings us into faith, sustains us in faith and will present us to His father at the end. Amen.

Go into today making up your mind through the grace that is released in Christ to constantly look unto Jesus, knowing that only those that have their eyes fixed on Him to the end will be saved.

Prayer: help me Father to constantly look unto Jesus. Amen

Avoid profane chatter

Broadcast 3907
Audio version link at the end of this message
2 Tim 2:16 (NET) But avoid profane chatter, because those occupied with it will stray further and further into ungodliness

Even though Deji was born again and a member of the choir, he had a practice that was now becoming a dangerous habit. He had a female contact on WhatsApp that he would chat with regularly, and these chats were becoming more and more profane every day.

She also added him to a chat group that was created for profane chatter. They would share dirty jokes, experiences, and pictures.

Even though Deji was not yet involved in any physical immorality, his involvement with these chats caused him to stray further and further into ungodliness. It was just a matter of time before he fell down flat spiritually. Thankfully, the Lord used one of Deji’s closest friends to deliver him from his spiritual free fall. He accidentally saw an indecent picture Deji received from the chat group.

It is much easier to get involved with indecent chatter than to actually get involved with what is being talked about. Many have lost great spiritual power because of this. They become very weak spiritually and are no more effective in their kingdom assignment.

I’ve discovered that it becomes very difficult to get involved in indecent chatter with people who you are already sharing the word of God with. If you share the word of God daily with your friends on social media, it becomes very difficult for any of them to initiate indecent chatter with you.

As you go into today, determine to flee from all appearances of evil by meditating on God’s word and sharing it at every opportunity.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for the opportunity to be your child. I ask that you help me purge myself of everything that makes one an unworthy vessel. Amen.

To give you the kingdom

Broadcast 3906
Audio version link at the end of this message
Luke 12:32 (KJV) Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

We have seen story upon story that shows that a king can be so pleased with you that he will be willing to give you anything, even up to half of his kingdom (see Esther 5:3, Mark 6:23). When a king indicates that he is willing to give you even up to half of his kingdom, that is a way of telling you that there is nothing you ask him that he can do that he will not do. Any king willing to give you up to half of his kingdom really wants to give you all that you want.

God does not just want to give us half of His kingdom; He wants to give it all to us. He has made us joint heirs with Christ and we will inherit all things (see Rom 8:17, Rev 31:7).

If God is willing to give you His kingdom, what is it that He will not do for you that is for your own good? (See Psalm 84:11).

The next time you want to ask the Lord for something, ask in faith and confidence, not in fear and unbelief because unbelief hinders our communication with God and our ability to receive from the Lord.

Go into today remembering that it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. He who is willing to give you His kingdom will also give you all things that are good for you. ‘He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things’- Rom 8:32.

Thank your heavenly father for His great love for you.

Abba Father

Broadcast 3905
Audio version link at the end of this message
Rom 8:15 (KJV) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Ugbede didn’t know that his relationship with God as Father was affected by the bad relationship he had with his biological father. Whenever he thought about God as his father, he didn’t get the right signals in his mind concerning the way God loves and cares for Him. Ugbede’s father never really loved and cared for anyone but himself.

Ugbede received his spiritual breakthrough when he started allowing the Holy Spirit to lead in His relationship with God. He started seeing God through the perspective of the Holy Spirit and no more through the perspective of his experience. This was when he began to understand that God chose him to be His child from before the foundation of the world; that God’s plan for him is only good and never evil. He started understanding the love of God, and each depth of understanding he received made him stronger and holier.

The devil delights in giving children of God a false idea of who God is. If our relationship with God is defined by what the devil suggests and no more by what the Holy Spirit reveals, we are playing in dangerous territory and can get hurt. This was what happened to Eve in the garden of Eden (see Gen 3:4-5).

Go into today remembering that the Holy Spirit is the one who should give us perspective [through the word] for the way we see God, the way we see ourselves and the way we see the world. Never forget that God loved and chose you to become His child from before the foundation of the world (see Eph 1:4). There is nothing that the devil can do about God’s love for you.

You have authority

Luke 10:19 (KJV) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Linda had a phobia for dogs. Because of this she found it difficult to visit her sister who had two trained German shepherds. One day she went to visit her sister, the trained dogs happily came to welcome her because she was a familiar face, but she almost fainted and was so terrified that she couldn’t speak. She wanted the dogs to leave her alone, and later managed to tell her sister to 'please drive the dogs away'. Her sister told her to simply instruct the dogs to ‘go away’ and they would obey promptly because they know her to be close to their owner. This she did and the dogs obeyed promptly. She couldn’t believe it.

Demons know the Lord Jesus and tremble at His voice and His name. Anyone who is in Christ carries the image of Christ, and because demons tremble at the voice of Christ, they will tremble at yours if you walk in the faith of Christ. Demons will never obey the command of people who are not related to Christ, but they have no choice but to obey the voice of Christ. That is the voice they hear when you command them in Jesus’ name. Christ lives in you and they hear the voice of Christ when you command them.

Go into today remembering that absence of boldness is usually the problem with Christians, not the absence of power. One of the reasons the lion is greatly feared in the jungle is not just because of its strength, but because of the boldness with which it exerts its strength.

Prayer: Father, please fill my heart with faith and boldness. Help me to walk in my authority in Jesus name. Amen.

God wants all people saved 2

Broadcast 3903
Audio version link at the end of this message

1 Timothy 2:4 (NET)… [God] wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Emeka had prayed for the salvation of his brothers for years, but it appeared that things were getting worse and not better.

A time came that he started to entertain the false thought that maybe his brothers were not saved because they were never selected by God for salvation. This thought in his heart weakened his faith and made his prayer for his brothers less powerful.

When he knew that it was God's will for them to be saved, his supplications for them became more powerful and regular, and he started seeing the result. All his brothers eventually became believers in the Lord Jesus.

I have come to learn that the most powerful kind of prayer regarding the salvation of others is the prayer of supplication. Another word for supplication is begging. When it comes to the will and choice of other people, your declarations and demands may not be very effective, but your plea before the throne of God for them is very effective. Only God has the authority to influence the will of people, and we have to make sufficient supplications before His throne to make this happen. If we begin to entertain the false thought that maybe God has not selected a person to be saved, it weakens our faith in prayer for that person’s salvation.

Go into today knowing that one of the reasons God placed you in your family is because He wants you to pray and generate sufficient spiritual license for Him to invade the other members of your family with His salvation.

Prayer: Lord, please help me do my part in facilitating the salvation of my loved ones. Amen.

God wants all people saved

Broadcast 3902
Audio version link at the end of this message

1 Timothy 2:4-6 (NET) … since [God] wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself as a ransom for ALL, revealing God’s purpose at his appointed time.

It is easy to read some portions of scripture and conclude that God does not really want all people to be saved but only a select few. That conclusion is a result of not rightly dividing the word of truth.

One thing we have as beings created in the image and likeness of God is free will. Because of free will God chooses us based on His foreknowledge of the way we would respond to His grace. He is the beginning and the end, He knows all things even before they are revealed in time, and He knows the choices we are going to make even before we were born. He also knows those who will choose to reject His salvation even before they were born, and He has made his choices concerning those who will be saved based on the choices that He knows we will make.

Those of us who have eternal life can influence things like this that have been determined from the realm of eternity. This means you can pray and intercede for someone who was meant to perish, and the person will be saved because you prayed. This means you can preach the gospel to people who would have perished and they will receive salvation from destruction because you preached.

Go into today knowing that there is no one the Lord wants to perish because He died for ALL. God expects you to be an agent through which His salvation reaches people who would have perished in their sins.

Prayer: Lord, make me an effective agent for your salvation. Amen.

When Remi first heard the doctrine that insists that God does not care about her conduct, but only about her faith (as if they can be separated), she was happy because she had been struggling with certain things that came from her old life of sin before she became saved. She now decided to let go and continue in her old way of sin. But it did not take her long to know that the doctrine was a lie because she still tried to be truthful to herself and maintain a clear conscience. She observed that her communion with the Holy Spirit was truncated and her conscience violated.

In the book of Jude, the Holy Spirit commands us to contend for the faith that was once and for all delivered to the saints. This faith is the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the most holy faith, and not one that engenders unholy living. (See Jude 1:3-23).

When we teach grace, we do not teach license for sin, but empowerment for righteousness. But there are some who could interpret any teaching about the grace of our Lord to mean a license for sin because they are looking for an excuse to sin. But those who seek the power to walk above sin will only find it in the grace of our Lord, and they must be taught about this.

One way of differentiating the false teachings from the genuine is that the genuine empowers God’s people to live above sin, while the false systematically downplays the importance of overcoming sin. (See Heb 12:14).

Ask the Lord to keep you away from false teachers and false doctrines. Ask for the discernment of the Holy Spirit.

Those who trust in the Lord

Psalm 34:10 (NLT) Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.

Strong lions represent the strong in this world, they represent those who people revere and look up to when it comes to the things of this world. They are the ones who will be the last to be hungry even when there is famine.

The word of God to you today is that even when strong lions are hungry and suffer from lack, you will not lack any good thing if you trust in the Lord. The Lord shall provide your every need according to His riches in glory (see Phil 4:19). You will live in divine health and not be afflicted like the people of this world.

Strong lions of this world have their needs met according to the economy, but your own needs will be met according to the riches of heaven. The riches of heaven have never experienced a recession, there are diseases the riches of this world cannot cure, but there is no disease the riches of heaven cannot cure. It is always increasing. Of the increase of Christ's government and peace, there shall be no end (Isiah 9:7). This means you will only know promotion and never demotion as you keep your heart stayed on the Lord in trust because His ever increasing government is your source of supply.

Go into today remembering that all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" and through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for his glory(2 Cor 1:20). You receive these great promises from God because of Christ. The key is faith in Christ alone.

Prayer: Lord, Help me to believe your word concerning my life and trust in you always. Amen.
