HE FORGIVES ALL SIN

image

AUDIO link: http://po.st/MLy8Ib

2 Chr 33:12-13a

12. But while in deep distress, Manasseh sought the Lord his God and sincerely humbled himself before the God of his ancestors. 13a. And when he prayed, the Lord listened to him and was moved by his request.

NLT

Manasseh was a bad king, yet when he recognized his sin and humbled himself before God, God heard him.

No matter the severity of the offense, God will forgive. What he requires is that you act like this king. One of the strategies used by the devil to keep people in sin is to make them feel their sins are too great and cannot be forgiven, while others feel their sins are too small and do not matter.

Don't fall prey to the devil's plot. God forgives all sins. Yours could be as big as occultism, murder, abortion, fornication; you may have even entered into a demonic covenant. Yours may appear small as cheating in the examination hall, lying etc. No matter the severity, Jesus' blood cleanses all sins.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness 1John 1:9 NLT.

Go into the day knowing that “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool." Says the lord (Isa 1:18 NLT).

This is the Lord calling you to reason with him.

Prayer: search me o Lord for you know me, take away every evil in me and forgive all my sins in Jesus' name. Amen

FALSE TEACHERS 1

image

AUDIO link: http://po.st/UtkKhz

2 Pet 2:1

But there arose false prophets also among the people, as among you also there shall be false teachers, who shall privily bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

ASV

Some doctrines came into the church in West Africa about three years ago. These doctrines brought up an ‘updated’ form of Christian conduct; no emphasis was made on the person of Christ and total faith in Him being the key to avoiding hell. All the emphasis was on works and things women wear that would take them to hell. Many homes were broken because of these doctrines. I remember the story of a couple who almost separated because the wife started dressing in a way that was repulsive to her Christian husband who didn't share in her new convictions. Some entire churches were thrown into confusion.

Heresies are always destructive and not constructive to the body of Christ; they usually attempt to shift the focus from Christ to laws.

Before Apostle Peter started talking about false teachers (in today's text), he first established that no scripture has a secret interpretation and that we should look upon them (not experiences or visions) for our light and guidance (see 2Pet 2: 19-20).

Go into today knowing that the scriptures are a guide for any revelation or doctrine that comes to you. If it is not properly based on scripture or if it contradicts scriptural precedence and principles, it is not to be accepted.

Prayer: Thank you father because your word is the standard for my life. Please give me grace to diligently study and know your word that I may never be deceived, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE MORE SURE WORD 2

image

AUDIO Link: http://po.st/FohS6T

2 Pet 1:20-21

20 Above all, you do well if you recognize this: No prophecy of scripture ever comes about by the prophet's own imagination, 21 for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

NET

I have an experience I cannot fully explain: as a child of God, there are certain disciplines I practice to help build myself up. They include having a schedule for prayers, fasting and other such things that help my spiritual life grow. I noticed that merely reading the bible has great power and grace it impacts upon my life. I cannot fully explain this phenomenon. I can recall that God instructed that the kings of Israel were to simply read the book of the law all the days of their lives, that doing this had the ability to keep them within God’s will (see Deu 17:17-20).

Watchman Nee once said God has given every Christian two important gifts: The Holy Spirit and the bible. These are the two most important gifts from God that will guarantee your redemption. The words in the Holy bible are inspired and sacred. The Holy Spirit Himself orchestrated the delivery of that book to us. The bible is not an ordinary book. The Bible is given to be a guide for our lives, it is a light to your feet.

Go into today knowing that merely reading God’s word routinely has the ability to transform you from inside out. Determine to develop a workable bible study schedule executed in an atmosphere of prayer.

Prayer: Thank you father for your word that has come to me today. I pray you help me take your word more seriously and develop a more impactful bible study life, in Jesus name. Amen

THE MORE SURE WORD 1

image

AUDIO: http://po.st/ZUOHcC

2 Pet 1:19

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

KJV

Stephen had a major misunderstanding with his wife when she got a huge promotion and her job started demanding more from her; she would sometimes arrive home by 9pm. Almost simultaneously, Stephen kept losing clients and his business was going down rapidly. One night, Stephen slept and saw in his dream an angel instructing him to divorce his wife; that if he didn't divorce her things would continue to get worse for him and his wife will eventually leave him. He had this dream twice. He didn't obey the angel’s instruction because he could not find any scriptural reason for divorcing his wife; it just didn't make sense.

Two years latter, Stephen's business had grown beyond his imagination. His wife was now working with him in their company which she helped expand with the gratuity she got when she left her job to help restart her husband's dying business. Their marriage was better and happier than ever. The dream Stephen had was clearly not from God.

Apostle Peter had so many powerful experiences and revelations to show God's agenda, but he still referred to the written word as being MORE SURE. Any word you claim to hear from God that contradicts the principles of His written word is most likely from an unclean spirit or from your un-renewed mind. The more sure word you have is always going to be the written word- the bible.

Go into today determined to guide your life according to the word of God.

Prayer: Thank you father for giving me your word as a guide for my life. I pray you help me always live according to it, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODIES

image

AUDIO: http://po.st/uvlw7o

Rom 8:23

Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

NET

I got a question from a reader of Streamglobe Devotional on BBM. The question was about why women who are saved still have to suffer childbirth pains since it is a result of the curse of sin and Jesus has dealt with that on the cross. I found the answer to this question one that would help us understand certain truths.

When Jesus died on the cross, his death instantly took care of the spiritual consequence of the fall for they that believe; these consequences include curses, spiritual death etc. And the new birth we have in Christ is spiritual. Our new birth has not yet taken care of the physical consequences of the fall. That is why we are not covered in glory but still have to wear clothes; the issue of childbirth pains also falls under the category of physical consequences of the fall. All these will change when the rapture happens and our bodies are redeemed. We can now be said to have been free from the flesh. The redemption of our bodies is the hope of our calling. See Romans 8:20-23

Go into today knowing that even though there is alot about our new nature as Gods sons that will only be revealed when our bodies have been redeemed, the Holy spirit within us causes us to see the first fruits of these glorious realities.

Prayer: Thank you father for loving me so much, thank you because my life as a Christian keeps getting better and better until the perfect day. I pray you help me never loose sight of my identity, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

STUMBLE PROOF

2 Peter 1:10

10 Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.

AMP

Jonah accepted Christ and started serving God when he was in secondary school. By the time he got to his senior year he was appointed as the president of the Christian fellowship. When Jonah got to the university, he was also very involved with the fellowship and was appointed as the bible study secretary.

Seven years later, Jonah was now married with a daughter but his wife was threatening to divorce him because she had found out about his girlfriend, and even heard he was going out with his secretary in the office too. How did such a committed Christian who served the lord on campus stumble so far?

Our bible text today reveals that the the key to not stumbling into sin is constantly making effort to strengthen your calling or walk with God. Whenever something stops growing, it begins to die. The preceding verses to today's bible text talks about constantly adding to your faith (see 2 Pet 1:5-9).

Go into today with the renewed assurance that God has made the grace available for you to continue to strengthen and edify your spirit man. Remember that in God’s kingdom, growth never ends. Reach out for new materials: sermons, books, bible studies to help you grow.

Prayer: Thank you father for your word that is light to my feet. I pray you help me never lag in zeal and always build up myself on my most holy faith, In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

WHO BELONGS TO GOD?

image

AUDIO VERSION

http://po.st/GG3sUe

Click the above link to listen(only about 1.5mb)

1 John 3:10

So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.

NLT

Solomon was very surprised when his best friend Jerry told him that he had been born again all the while. They still went partying, drinking and womanizing together. Even though he now learnt that Jerry was a worker in church, Solomon didn’t call him but called Stella his classmate when he needed someone to pray for his brother who was scheduled for a major surgery. He didn’t ask Jerry to pray because He told himself that he wanted a righteous person that God would answer to pray for His brother.

Even unbelievers know who true Christians are by their conduct and this can sometimes be revealed when the chips are down and they need someone to pray for them.

We are living in a time and age where many profess Christianity, but what would ultimately show your real identity is your character of righteousness and love- this is what God looks out for. This righteousness is a result of faith in Christ Jesus and not merely a product of your will. Your will cannot produce true righteousness, only faith in Christ Jesus produces true righteousness because it creates a living consciousness of the presence of God.

Go into today knowing that the proof that you belong to God is your transformed lifestyle. Examine your life for the past three months and truthfully access if you have represented Christ well enough. Make appropriate adjustments through prayers and resolutions.

PRAYER: Thank you father for hearing me when I pray. I ask that you create in me a clean heart that loves; a heart that loves righteousness and hates iniquity. Cause me to learn your way and grow daily. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

TRUST IN THE LORD

image

AUDIO VERSION

http://po.st/zpxzEn

Click the above link to listen(only about 1mb)

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.

NLT

I recently had a conversation over the internet with my friend. We had previously both maintained opposite political views concerning the better candidate in the upcoming Nigerian presidential elections. He said something that really touched me when I stated that I wasn’t perturbed over who won the election among the two major candidates, he said and I quote: ‘it’s not like either can change the tide of things for us…we know who we look to…’, and he was referring to God being the only one upon whom we truly place our hope.

The present scenario regarding the Nigerian elections has clearly pointed that the trust of many is in man and not in God; it has also revealed that our understanding of God is poor. An average Nigerian will talk about the elections at least once a day and you can see strength, vigor and hope in them as they speak, yet they speak less of God who is able to truly save them.

When trust is misdirected, it fails, for the arm of flesh will always fail. When we trust God, He in turn stares up the right men to help us. Note brethren that whenever we replace trust in God with trust in man, we are at the risk of idolatry.

Go into today with the determination to absolutely redirect your trust back to God, knowing that trust in God would never lead to disappointments (see Romans 5 :5a NLT).

PRAYER: Thank you Jesus for today's caution, give me the strength to always trust you. I cast my anxieties upon you Lord because I know you care. Amen

Romans 2:4

Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? NLT

Is the Lord's second coming delayed? It is so that many may be saved. Jesus has been buying time for us so that none will perish, should we take this for granted?

We cannot afford to neglect so great a salvation or say in our hearts ‘the day is delayed’. Don't you see that “our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved?” (see2 Peter 2:4a. NLT)

Brethren, we must not lose our faith at a time as this, instead, let us live as children of light. This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed (see Eph 5:8; Rom 11:13. NLT).

go into today knowing that Jesus who has called you is able to keep you and get you raptured-Keep believing and trusting in him

2 Pet 1:4

whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust. ASV

When you gave your life to Christ, you were given an opportunity to receive the power that helps you escape the corruption in the world. This power is also know as the grace of God. God has given us great promises and we receive them through faith. These promises were intended to develop the divine nature within us. The first manifestation of this nature is the power you receive over sin; you will now be able to overcome sin (see Rom 6:14). Another manifestation of this new nature is the power of God working in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure; the power of God empowering you to live in divine health and to heal the sick, the power of God empowering you to cast out demons, etc. The promises of God are the reason why you can do great things because God's word (and promises) is unbreakable and is the strongest power in the universe. All you need to do is believe.

Go into today with renewed assurance that all the promises of God are true concerning you because you are in Christ Jesus (see 2 Cor 1:20). Begin to confess the promises that you can remember right now upon your life.

Prayer: Thank you father because your promises empower me to walk in the divine nature. I pray you help me never forget this again, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Proverbs 16:24

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. KJV

The right word spoken with the wrong tone is most times ineffective. We must learn as believers not just to be mindful of the kind of words we speak but also how we say them.

A soft answer is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. It depicts maturity and self-control. Proverbs 15:1 says 'A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger'. It is wisdom to speak calmly even when you are expected to shout at the top of your voice.

The true nature of our character shows when we relate mostly with those subordinate to us. It's unwise to speak wildly to people because they are younger than us or because we have authority over them.

Before you say those words the way you want to, think about how you will feel if they are said to you same way.

Go into today deciding not to hurt anybody with your words but to speak kindly to everyone that comes your way.

Prayer: Father I thank you for your word today. I ask that you give me the grace to use my words correctly and to the glory of your name, in Jesus name. Amen

HE DISCERNS THE HEART

image

AUDIO VERSION:

http://goo.gl/dAl7aB

Hebrews 4:12-13

12. For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. NLT

How would you feel if a new technology made people able to input your name in a search engine and then have the ability to hear your thoughts for the past five weeks? Do you know Jesus hears your thoughts better than any such technology could enable?

Many times we ask the HOLY Spirit to fill our hearts but we still occupy it with thoughts that are unholy. When a thought is allowed to linger, it can become a meditation, and unacceptable meditations repel the Holy Spirit.

Ps 19:14 saysLet the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord...”

Nothing is hidden from God. Past, present and future are clear to Him, he cannot be deceived. Our thoughts, just like our actions, go a long way in determining who we are, for as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Our thoughts also have the power to defile us.

When God returns to judge the world, he will judge both our actions and thoughts, therefore, get rid of evil thoughts. See Read Rev 2:23.

Go into today knowing that God sees your actions and know your thoughts, seek to think on only things that are pure, holy and edifying, this is the best way to expel unwholesome thinking (see Phil 4:8).

Prayer: heavenly Father, please refine my heart, help me to please you even in my thoughts, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

A RIGHT ATTITUDE TO WORK

Luke 16:11-12

If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

A man was praying to God to bless him and to enlarge his coast. He believed and confessed God's word daily, but there wasn't even a sign of the smallest blessing. On one occasion as he was crying to God, the Spirit of God told him that the reason he was not blessed was because of his lackadaisical attitude to work.

He normally would not go to work on time and always complains at any assignment given to him. He even complains at and won't obey certain rules and regulations.

From our text, the Lord will not give us that which is rightly ours if we are not committed, diligent and faithful to that which is another man's. Colossians 3:22 'Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye service, as men pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God'.

Go into today knowing our service is unto the Lord and He will give us that which is ours in due time.

(1 Tim 6:1-2)

GRACE INCREASE 2

AUDIO VERSION:

http://goo.gl/p2gndF

Click the above link to listen

2 Pet 1:2

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

Not too long ago, I started particularly praying that God will increase His grace upon my life. I prayed this prayer because I saw in the bible that we can come to God’s throne to obtain grace to help us in time of need (Heb 4:16). I also realized that God's grace is the divine ability enabling us to do things we normally cannot do by our own power. I realized that Jesus did all He did while on the earth because He was full of grace and truth (see John 1:14), therefore If I must be like Jesus, I must have great grace.

I observed that God began to increase my knowledge. He started sending me powerful instructive materials to build my knowledge base and help me grow spiritually; I started understanding many things of God and began to see considerable spiritual strength. This is how God has been answering that prayer.

From today’s text, we can see that grace is multiplied through the knowledge of God and of the lord Jesus Christ. God's way of increasing your grace is to increase you knowledge of Him. This knowledge is not merely theoretical and intellectual but is also experiential and practical. Grace is received through faith and faith comes by the hearing of God's word (knowledge).

Go into today determined to increase in grace by increasing your knowledge of the lord. This you can do by craving the sincere milk of God's word- get good books and media materials that will teach you more of God’s word.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because I am born in a time when I can easily access your word in so many formats. I pray you help me truly crave the sincere milk of your word always, in Jesus name. Amen

LIVING TO PLEASE GOD

AUDIO VERSION:

http://goo.gl/1fr0Vw

Click the above link to listen

Revelation 4:11

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. KJV

All that God created were created to give Him pleasure, pleasing God is pivotal in giving God pleasure.

The Christian life is essentially spiritual. The doctrine that separates spirituality from a Christian's everyday life is faulty. We are created to represent God wherever we find ourselves, whether in the Church or outside the Church, we are to please God in everything we do.

Note that whenever you're not in the spirit, you're actually in the flesh and the flesh cannot please God (see Rom 8:8).

The way to live to please God is to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. Walking in the spirit means your spiritual life and relationship with God always has more priority to you.

One of the ways to know if you are walking is the spirit is to check your priorities; what are the most important things to you, if they are things of this world, it means your affection has been set on the things of this world, but if they are things that primarily please God, your affection is set on the things of God and this is the key to walking in the spirit.

Go into today knowing that living to please God involves pleasing God in everything (your business, your work, your family etc.).

1 Corinthians 10:31: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. KJV

Prayer: thank you father for creating me to give you glory, help me to always live in this reality in Jesus' name. Amen

2 Pet 1:2

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. NET

Donnie was fifteen years old when he gave his life to Christ. He received the Holy Ghost almost immediately, and because of sound teachings he was exposed to, he kept the fire of the Holy Ghost constantly burning in His heart. Because of this, he led a pure and blessed life before God; he spent his entire life in the service of the lord; living a fulfilled and happy life.

Mark was not the only one Donnie had preached to who was now in the ministry. The problem was that mark kept constantly falling and rising in his spiritual life. He kept insisting that he did not have the kind of grace that Donnie had. Unknown to Mark, Donnie had such great grace because of certain simple truths and spiritual disciplines he practiced that mark neglected (these disciplines included; planned prayer hours; fasting, organized daily devotionals; giving plans; evangelism plans; constant meditation on the word etc.).

Kenneth  Hagin one said" faith is a concomitant of knowledge". We are saved by grace through faith. You cannot walk in grace (in the supernatural) without faith. This faith comes from a knowing of who God truly is and how much he loves you; your soul is rested because you know how great your God is, so you can trust and obey Him.

Go into today deciding to increase your knowledge, and practice the disciplines that will help you grow spiritually and increase the grace upon your life.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. KJV

One of the major causes of chaos in our world today is misunderstandings; when one person misunderstands the action of another. Take for an instance, if you stepped on someone's toes accidentally, and sometime later he or she also unconsciously steps on your toes, you may think she is taking revenge and this could cause a buildup of resentment toward the person, and this may ultimately lead to an argument.

One of the greatest mistakes one can make is to base conclusions on assumptions. We should always ask questions and get clarifications for what we are not very sure about. You can only be sure when you’ve heard from ‘the horse’s mouth’, and not just from your mind or other people’s speculations.

Bear in mind that the reason why we need the patience virtue is because the other person is not perfect and neither are we. People will always offend you, but before you think they did it on purpose, ask them why.

Go into today recognizing that in dealing with others, you are dealing with an entirely different person from yourself; you are to be slow to speak, swift to hear, and slow to anger(See Jam 1:19).

Prayer: Father, I thank you for your word today. Please Cause your word to work in me so that I may be willing and able to do of your good pleasure, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

ADD TO YOUR FAITH

image

AUDIO VERSION:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/I20Ffu

2 Pet 1:5

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge. KJV

It is a sad reality today that many Christians have faith but many do not walk in love. They have faith because they have believed in Jesus and have accepted the salvation that comes through faith in Christ Jesus. But many do not make any effort to love. Many have even been seen raining curses on those they deem to be their enemies. This is not the path to true Christian spiritual progress.

We are encouraged in today’s Bible text to add virtue to our faith. But we are not to stop there, we are to add knowledge to this virtue. In the kingdom of God, learning never ends, and the more of God you know, the more His grace you will receive. Virtue is an attribute of love. Faith without works is dead, and the works of faith is love. Love is a decision of the mind and not just a feeling. And Christians must love (see John 13:35).

Go into today with a desire to keep adding to your faith. Never give up in your quest to know more of God and walk in His will.

Prayer:

Thank you heavenly father for giving me the grace to walk in love. I pray you help me grow in my love for you and for others, in Jesus name. Amen

DON'T FORGET GOD'S GOODNESS

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/Soxphy

Ps 103:2

Let all that I am praise the Lord;

may I never forget the good things he does for me. NLT

"Why did God have to select you for such a bad disease?" This was the message Arthur Ashe, the legendary American Tennis Wimbledon player, received from a concerned fan, while he was dying from an incurable disease.

To this Arthur replied:

‘The world over, 50 Million children start playing Tennis, 5 Million learnt to play Tennis, 500 Thousand learn professional Tennis, 50 Thousand come to Circuit, 5 Thousand reach the Grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to Semifinals, 2 to the Finals, and when I was holding the cup in my hand, I never asked God "Why Me?"’ .

It is easy for us to forget God’s numerous blessings upon our lives; it is easier to complain than to be thankful, but no matter the situation you find yourself today, first remember to count your blessings. Every single new day is an opportunity for you to give God pleasure by being thankful in every situation and magnifying Him over everything- this is the best way to enter His presence (see Ps 100:4).

As you go into today, count your blessings, name them one by one. After this, tell your heavenly father where it hurts; and let Him take care of it.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for bringing me to this day. Thank you for saving me and accepting me. Thank you father, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

ENSLAVED BY SIN?

image

AUDIO VERSION:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/1UNgHU

John 8:34-35

34. Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.

35. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. NLT

A slave is someone who is legally owned by another person and is forced to work for that person without pay – Merriam Webster

We are not permanently owned by sin because we are not sin's legal property. Our passage also tells us that a slave is not a permanent member of the family. Thank God we're redeemable!

We do not belong to the devil, for Christ has redeemed us from the curse of sin (see Gal. 3:13), except we decide to remain enslaved by sin.

Exodus 21:5: But the slave may declare, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I don’t want to go free.’ KJV

You can do away with whatever holds you bond by acknowledging and accepting what God did for you in Christ and by living by the principles of God's word.

Go into today knowing that you are not a slave to sin and can be free from sin. Come to God in repentance today and he'll forgive your past and make you his son.

Prayer: thank you Jesus for freeing me from sin, I declare that sin will no longer have dominion over me in Jesus' name

SEE GOD AS YOUR FATHER

image

AUDIO VERSION

Link to listen: http://po.st/xPuoqg

Rom 8:15

15 For ye received not the spirit of bondage again unto fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ASV

I'd like to start today's devotional with a question; who is God to you?

After believing, a vivid understanding of who God is to us is very important, because this is the very foundation upon which our sonship stands.

Many Christians have a distorted image of God, an image that is a far cry from who He truly is to us. Irrespective of how you see God, I have come to realize that no other image best depicts Him than to see Him as our loving father.

If your relationship with God is filled with struggles and is motivated by a fear of going to hell, you need to change the basis from which you operate. God wants us to see love each time we look at Him; He saved us because He loves us, and He hasn't changed His mind. He loved us while we were yet sinners, How about now? So don't try to please God so He will accept you but please Him because He has accepted you (see Rom 5:8).

Go into today being confident of this truth that you are loved by the most High, and He is your father.

Prayer: Thank you father because I know you love me. Thank you Dear Father, In Jesus name. Amen

YOUR YOKE WITH THE LORD

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/EMA2XQ

Lamentations 3:27

“ It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.” KJV

It is good to stay under the yoke of Jesus, that is, divine disciplinary dealings while you are young. If you look at any life that has been used greatly by the Lord in the past, you will notice that such a life has gone through such dealings with the Lord before he/she became useful in God’s hands. The beloved apostle John wrote “I write to you young men because you are strong..” (1 John 2:14). You see, the time of youth is a time of strength, and you need to learn how to submit to the Lordship of Jesus and take His yoke upon you. Whatever you need to do (in staying under divine disciplinary dealings), do it now that you still have that youthful strength, because when you grow older, you won’t be that strong.

Our lord said “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Mat 11:29). Listen to Ravi Zecharias “ He has made us for Himself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in You.” Friends, true rest comes when you take the yoke of Jesus on you. Submit to His yoke of discipline:

· Silently reflect on what God wants you to do.

· Repent with humility

· Be patient; there is a lesson in every situation you go through

· Depend on God

Prayer: father, please help me to take the yoke of Jesus upon me as I go out today, grant me the grace to be humble in Jesus name, amen.

SENSING GOD’S WORD

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/zuzcHE

Rom 12:2

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. KJV

If you have ever used a transistor radio to hear the news, you will agree with me that the radio will only produce noise until it is properly tuned to the right frequency, when it is tunned, then you can clearly hear the voice of the newscaster. All the while the radio had the capacity to receive the voice of the newscaster, but the problem was that it wasn’t tuned appropriately.

One of the most important things for every Christian is the ability to sense the voice of God. Many times, this becomes more critical when we are at junctions where crucial decisions are to be made. We want to be sure that we hear from God and make the right decisions. Sensing God’s word should not only become necessary when we want to make crucial decisions, it should be an everyday thing. The reason why many Christians do not sense God's word is not because they don't have the capacity but because their minds have not yet been rightly tuned: they have not been transformed by the renewal of their minds; thus the configuration of the mind is not in phase with the mind of Christ.

Friend, as you go into the day, make a resolution to adjust your thought patterns to God’s word. Outline all the things in your life that may not be according to the will of God and begin to make concrete steps to correct them.

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for the grace you have released to enable me live according to your will. I pray you help me utilize this grace to the fullest, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF HIS PRESENCE

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/GDYcqC

Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. KJV

It is very refreshing and comforting to know that He is with us wherever we may go and in whatever situation we find ourselves. A. W. Tozer writes “ What does the divine immanence mean in direct Christian experience? It means simply that God is here. Wherever we are, God is here. There is no place, where He is not.” This is the truth. You see, it remains for us to think on it and pray over it until it begins to glow within us. We really need to be conscious of His ever abiding presence with us because this awareness will keep us from fear and sin. “In the beginning God…” (Genesis 1:1). This is one of the most profound passages of scripture because all that we see today did not just ‘happen’. A. W. Tozer said “not matter, for matter is not self-causing. It requires an antecedent cause, and God is that cause. Not law, for law is but a name for the course which all creation follows. That course had to be planned, and the planner is God. Not mind, for mind also is a created thing and must have a creator back of it. In the beginning God, the uncaused cause of matter, mind and law. There we must begin”.

Friends, begin your day with God and go through each day with the consciousness of His ever abiding presence because He is right by your side even if you are not aware, and you will experience true comfort and rest.

Prayer: o God and Father, I repent of my sinful pre-occupation with visible things that had made me blind to your presence. Open my eyes that I may behold you in and around me for Christ’s sake, amen.

THE SINCERE MILK OF THE WORD

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/LPa4zo

1 Peter 2:2-3

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. KJV

New born babies usually crave for milk. But they may enjoy highly sweetened artificial milk better; this kind of milk is not sincere or genuine milk and may be dangerous to their health.

We are told to crave the sincere milk of God’s word. This is because it is possible to not crave for the sincere word since the world has provided alternatives for the soul; and these alternatives are always pleasing to the flesh, they look like and feel like the word of God but they are not the sincere word, they have been adulterated and made pleasing to the flesh.

The sincere word of God will not lie to you, it will not only tell you the Christian walk is a bed of roses; it will remind you that roses have thorns. It will not tell you there will be no trouble in the world; it will empower you to conquer all troubles.

Go into today remembering that the sincere milk of God's word reveals to you your new great identity as a child of God and the responsibility attached to it. You are to walk worthy of the calling to which you are now called (see Eph 4:1).

Prayer: Thank you father for calling me out of the darkness and bringing me to your glorious light. I pray you give me grace to always walk worthy of my new identity as your son, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/0chN1Y

Romans 12:17, 21

17. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

21. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. KJV

There was a farmer married to two wives, one day after he'd left for farm, his wives quarreled; the younger wife was at fault. The older became angry because she could no longer bear the insults from the younger wife, she decided to fight back.

Soon, their husband returned and the story was told him. Surprisingly, he reproved his older wife saying "if my younger wife decides to go mad, should you join her in her madness?"

Now, these are some words from the Lord to us on how to handle either evil or good done to us by others.

Proverbs 17:13: Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. KJV

1 Thessalonians 5:15: See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. KJV

1 Peter 3:9: Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it. NLT

Go into today with a determination to obey God's word. Live to overcome evil with good. God bless you as you obey. Amen

Prayer: thank you Jesus for your word, help me to live in tandem with your word even when it seems difficult. Amen

HOW TO UNLEASH THE GLORY

image

DEVOTIONAL AUDIO:

Click this link to listen: http://po.st/qNlM2C

John 17:17

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. KJV

If you buy a powerful but complicated electrical appliance that has the ability to cool your entire house or heat it when the weather is cold, if you have never used such an appliance or seen it in use before, you will have to read the manufacturer’s manual in order to successfully and safely operate it and unleash the goodness of the appliance.

God is the maker of life; His word contains the manual for life. As a child of God, following God’s word causes a manifestation and unleashing of His glory upon your life because you were created for glory. This glory has been before ordained for you to walk in(see Eph 2:10).

Go into today determined to build your life around the principles of God’s word. Take out time today, as much as it lies within your power, to discuss practical applications of the word of God with someone. Having discussions like this will also help inoculate you against the overpowering pervasive system of the world seeking to control everyone.

PRAYER

Thank you heavenly father for freely giving me your word as a manual for my life. I pray you help me build my life according the principles of your word, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

2 Kings 6:5-7

5. But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

6. And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

7. Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

KJV.

When things happen against the common laws, beyond the scope of science and human understanding, it is referred to as a miracle. That's exactly what God will do for you in Jesus' name.

Irrespective of your current situation, the belief of man, the economy of your country, your qualifications and background, God can do miracles in your life that will confound your enemies and get you awestruck yourself.

You may have lost everything, yes! God is here to make your axe head float on the water, just cry to God today believing him for a miracle.

Go into today with this assertion that God is not bound by your weaknesses and limitations. Call on him today and He will do more than mouth can explain for you.

Commit your fears to God now, he wants to hear you.

Prayers: I believe you Lord that you are the same yesterday, today and forever, because you did it in the past you will also do it for me now. Amen.
