Serving The King

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2124
Luke 17:10 (KJV)  So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, we are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

No physical or material reward was given to Joseph the husband of Mary for the role he played in the life and ministry of Jesus. Twice he accepted the message of God through an Angel; he kept Mary as his wife and ran with baby Jesus to Egypt away from Herod who wanted to kill him (read Matthew 1and 2). He just obeyed every instruction given to him through the Angel.

It is true that God will not forget your labor of love (Hebrews 6:10), however, if this reward does not come during your earthly sojourn or at the expected time, how should you handle it?

As a citizen of the kingdom of God, you must know that you live to please the king, and your own joy and fulfillment is a derivative of how much pleasure you bring The King.

All things including you were created by Him for his pleasure (Colossians 1:16 and Revelation 4:11). Service to the king, therefore, should be as described in today’s text: when you have done all those things which are commanded you, say, I am an unprofitable servant: I have done that which is my duty to do.

If you serve God this way, it will be impossible for the devil to plant offense in your heart. Offense is one of the biggest hindrances to the appropriation of  God's rewards and benefits on this side of eternity.

Go into today knowing that serving God is your duty and glory.

Pray this way: Lord I receive grace to give my all to serve your pleasure in Jesus' name, amen.

The Man To Whom God Looks

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2123
Isaiah 66:2 (NHEB)
For all these things has my hand made, and so all these things came to be, says the Lord, but to this man will I look, to him who is humble and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.

There are so many counsels and counselors present in the world today. There is an ‘expert’ for every conceivable area/matter of life. Therefore, it is not strange to see people begin to compare the opinions of ‘experts’ on a matter. They call it seeking a second opinion.

Yet again, there is also this growing philosophy of living life on your own terms. That means you get to choose what you want and what you do not want. You get to decide which counsel to follow or not to follow depending on how it makes you feel

With God however, the man to whom God looks is the man who never takes God’s word as just another ‘expert’ opinion to be weighed in with other opinions. The man to whom God looks is a man who is submitted and resigned himself to treating God’s word as sacred and obeys God’s word with dispatch.

Our text today suggests that this is only possible with humility and contrition of heart. A proud man will find it hard to tremble at God’s word. He will take his jolly good time before (that is if he ever does) he decides to heed God’s word. A man who trembles at God’s word has already settled it in his heart that God’s word takes first place in his heart and will be the building blocks that shape his life and destiny. The proud man will learn on his own learning, knowledge, and understanding. Trusting in his own expertise and judgment.

Go into today meditating on these: do you tremble at God’s word? Is God’s word capable of leading you to alter your pre-determined and pre-disposed lifestyle?

Prayer: Lord, please help me live a life ruled by your word. Help me lead a fruitful life. Amen.

False Doctrines: Guard Your Heart

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2122

1 Timothy 1:3-4 (NET)  As I urged you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesus to instruct certain people not to spread false teachings,
nor to occupy themselves with myths and interminable genealogies. Such things promote useless speculations rather than God’s redemptive plan that operates by faith.

When Jide got to the campus, he started attending one of the campus fellowships reputed to be deep in the teaching of the word. But after a few weeks, he found that even though his head was full of very interesting and high sounding things, his heart was empty and his spirit lean.
The teachers in that fellowship were given to [spooky] doctrines filled with speculations and logical inferences that didn't align with the position of scripture. Many of the members of that fellowship were excited that they knew 'deep things', but because Jide had walked with the Lord and enjoyed the fellowship of the Holy Spirit (and the attendant growth) in an atmosphere of sound doctrine in the past, it didn't take him long to discern that something was wrong with his new spiritual diet and fellowship. He had to leave that fellowship.

When Apostle Paul wrote 1 Timothy, there were false doctrines circulating that sounded very powerful and logical, but they didn't have the ability to produce faith unto fruitfulness but rather produced pride and weakness.

False doctrines have been around since the first generation church. Unfortunately, many of them are spread by genuine believers who have not been properly taught but who have a zeal to teach. If believers dwell in them for long, they would produce nothing but leanness to their souls and make them puffed up rather than being built up. Sooner or later, when the storms and pressures of life come, such would be reduced to their real small size and might be crushed because they were not being built up but were being puffed up [like bread or puff-puff]. A crushed believer would have a  shipwreck of faith. We would talk about this later.

Go into today remembering that sound doctrine produces faith and love in the heart of the believer, and builds him up(see 1 Timothy 1:5). False doctrines only give a knowledge that puffs up (and produces pride). Be sensitive to doctrines you allow to enter your heart because out of it proceeds the issues of life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Give me this day my daily bread(doctrine). Deliver me from the lure of false doctrines. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Spiritual Terrorism: Guard Your Heart

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2121
Proverbs 4:23 (BBE)
And keep watch over your heart with all care, so you will have life.

The media is a powerful tool. Today, our eyes, ears, and minds are being inundated with all manner of reports (news, gossips, etcetera) that can cripple the faith of the unsuspecting. Marriage is one of its casualties. Every single marriage gone wrong is plastered across our TV screens, mobile phones and newspapers. Every single minister of the gospel whose marriage experiences some turbulence will receive such media attention that one can begin to subconsciously accept that to be the truth about marriages. It so concentrates on the wrong example and displays deliberate amnesia for all the ones going right. That’s an act of terror; using a few ‘celebrated’ failures in some to inspire terror, fear, and despair in the hearts of many.

It conveniently forgets to mention that for every single marriage broken down in a celebrated man of God, there exist a dozen marriages going according to God’s pattern. But the statistic is not even a determining factor here. I mean, what if for example the statistics actually tilts against the marriages that still stand firm, would that make any difference? Empathically No! Even if there exists just one, working in conformity with God’s standard, we look on to Jesus for light and draw encouragement from that single righteous example. That’s the way to go.

Needless to say, marriage is not the only one under attack by this spiritual terrorism, ministers of the gospel, giving, sexual purity, etc. However, whatever case it is, Isaiah 8:12 offers valuable counsel:

Do not say, ‘conspiracy’ every time these people say the word. Don’t be afraid of what scares them; don’t be terrified (NET). The next verse says to rather fear the Lord.

Don’t be afraid (or even ashamed) to live God’s way, to approach marriage God’s way, to give, to stay pure. Watch what you hear, watch the company you keep, fill yourself with God’s word, and watch his word shape your reality.
Prayer: Lord, help me guard my heart with all diligence and live a fruitful life. Amen.

Kingdom Approach to Work 2

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2120
Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV) And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Because of Grace’s experience before and after her attitudinal change to work, she now took it upon herself to enlighten those who were caught up in her mistake of the past. Sandra was one of those she shared her story with. Sandra, however, did not listen to Grace because unlike grace, she never had a struggle with finance" if God is not pleased with me, why is He blessing me" she thought.

If you are like Sandra who seemed to have enjoyed being blessed in spite of unfaithfulness to work, remember that the ultimate reason for your job is not just so you could have money, you are there as Christ's ambassador.

Philippians 2:14-15 (KJV) ‘‘do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world’’.

It is by being blameless and harmless that you tell the world that you are a son of God. It is by these virtues that you will be able to shine as light and correct the wrongs in your workplace.

Go into today knowing that God is aware of the perversion in your workplace and has sent you there to shine as light.

Pray this way: Lord I will shine your light in my workplace by following your precepts for work. In Jesus' name, amen.

Kingdom Approach To Work

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2119
Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV) And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

After working with a government establishment for twenty years, Grace continued to struggle financially. She was very committed to prayers, evangelism, and other Church activities but she was lackadaisical with her job, and this was the general attitude of her coworkers too. They would often say ‘‘it’s government work, I cannot kill myself for it’’.

Grace had gotten all her due promotions when they were due but things were very tight for her financially. Her frustration led her to seek counsel from her Pastor who by the word of knowledge told her that her attitude to her job had been a hindrance to her financial freedom. Grace turned over a new leaf and began to do her work as to the Lord; putting her best to her job. After she changed her attitude to her job, her financial struggles ended. She received wisdom to better manage her resources,  and new financial doors opened to her.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV) says  ‘‘Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might...’’ and in Philippians 2:14-15 (KJV), we are to ‘‘[d]o all things without murmurings and disputings: that [we] may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom [we] shine as lights in the world’’.

If you are a child of God, you must do all your works as to the Lord. This is how you will be distinguished from the perverse and crooked coworkers among whom you are to shine as light. Your workplace is a platform for evangelism.

Go into today knowing that God is the one who rewards you when your work is done as unto Him.

Prayer Confession: I will do my work as to the Lord and shine as God's light in my workplace in Jesus' name. Amen.

Delivered From The Power of Darkness

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2118

Colossians 1:13-14 (NET)  He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

When Anabel became a believer, it was now clear to her that she was under the power of darkness when she was an unbeliever. She lived in fear and suspicion.

She used to go to church every Sunday because she saw the church as a place where people went to collect blessings and protection. She had several bottles of anointing oil in her house from different pastors.
In spite of the fact that she was a churchgoer, she also used to make charms. Her first husband used to be her boyfriend. It was through charms that she tied him and manipulated him to marry her. The marriage fell apart when he lost his oil company job.

Because of her many sins, she found it difficult to believe that God would ever want anything to do with her. This was the major reason she didn't accept the Lord Jesus. But the day someone explained the message of the cross to her, and she saw how that Jesus who was perfect and innocent suffered and died for her sins, she knew she could be forgiven. She understood that her forgiveness was solely based on the sacrifice of Jesus. When she received this forgiveness and accepted the Lordship of Christ over her life, she was no longer under the dominion of darkness and she knew this. She was no longer a slave to sin and fear. She no longer lived in constant fear and suspicion. Her mind was now liberated. She could now think straight and properly without the help of drugs.

Unfortunately, there are some in the church today who are not totally free from the dominion of darkness because they have not received the lordship of Christ fully. Jesus does not yet control every area of their lives. They still hold onto their old philosophies and maxims. Mammon is still their Lord.

But understanding that you have complete redemption and forgiveness of sins in Christ Jesus generates a natural response of total surrender to His Lordship. Jesus cannot truly be the Lord of your life and demons still have dominion over you. He is a jealous Lord. The degree to which your life is submitted to the Lordship of Christ is the degree to which you would walk in His authority and dominion.

Go into today thanking God for delivering you from the dominion of darkness and bringing you into the dominion of light through His redemption and forgiveness.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you grow in your walk in the light and become an agent of light yourself. If you are not yet born again and you want to be saved, follow this link: streamglobe.org/33

The Holy Spirit My Advantage

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2117
Romans 8:14 (KJV)  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised the [Gift of the] Holy Spirit who is to guide, comfort, teach believers, amongst other things He is to do in and through the believer. In Acts 2:1-4, we saw the fulfillment of that promise.
Today, as soon as a person accept Jesus as his Saviour and Lord, he receives a measure of the Holy Spirit and can be baptized in the Holy Spirit [with the evidence of speaking in tongues].

Jesus couldn't have been effective in His ministry on earth without the help of the Holy Spirit. Acts10:38 says, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. For this reason, He gave believers that same Spirit which empowered Him to fulfill His purpose on the earth. Today, we have the advantage of the Holy Spirit because He is not only with us but He is in us (John14:17) to guide us in the way we should go (Isaiah 30:21), to teach us all things we need to know (1John 2:20).

As a believer, when at crossroads just take out time to pray in the Holy Spirit: for out of your belly shall flow rivers of living waters (rivers of divine possibilities, of ideas, direction, wisdom)( Jude 20, John 7:38).

As believers, we should always walk in the knowledge that the Holy Spirit is a Person and He seeks deep intimacy with us every day. The more intimate we are with the Holy Spirit the more we get to know the ways of our Father and as a result, walk in multiplied grace and victory(see 2 Peter 1:2).

Go into today knowing that the Holy Spirit lives in you(if you are born again). Deliberately and consciously cultivate intimacy with Him for He is your greatest advantage in this life.

Prayer: Father, help me walk in deeper intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lessons From Shunem: Persevere in prayers

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2116
Luke 18:1 ((NET)
Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart. (Read 2 Kings 4:27-37)

Have you ever prayed about something, prayed really earnestly and yet it didn’t seem to bulge?

Well if you have, you are in good company with prophets and patriarchs of old. However, today’s lesson teaches us how they eventually got the victory. Unanswered prayers seem to be the perfect recipe for discouragement. However, we don’t have to give in to discouragement or lose heart, there is a better way.

In the story of the Shunamite woman in 2 Kings 4, there came a time when the woman lost her child and came to the man of God in petition and supplication. Elisha, a man with the double portion of the spirit of Elijah, made to meet her request, which was to raise her son from the dead. First, he commanded Gehazi, his assistant, to take his staff and to lay it on the child’s face. Gehazi did as Elisha instructed him and guess what? Nothing happened. Bible puts it this way,

“The youngster has shown no sign of awakening” (vs 31c ISV). There was no sign. This sounded like a good point to give up and say; at least I tried, but not Elisha.

Next, Elisha came to the house. The boy was lying on Elisha’s bed and room. Elisha shut the door and prayed unto the Lord, then he went and stretched himself upon the child, and then the child’s body grew warm, but he was still not up. Next, after walking to and fro the house, Elisha came back to the boy and once again stretched himself upon the boy and this time the boy sneezed seven times and came back to life.

Nothing but discouragement happens when you give up, but true victory belongs to those who persevere in prayers, like Daniel (Daniel 10:1-15), like Elijah (1 Kings 18:42-43), Like Zacharias (Luke 1:1-13), like you. Don’t give up and don’t give in. Pray until answers come. Let us pray.

Prayer: Lord, help me never to give in the place of prayers. Help me to always have testimonies. Amen.

Lessons From Shunem: The Victor’s Attitude

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2115
Philippians 4:4 (NET)
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. (Read 2 Kings 4:18-37)

2 Kings 4:18-37 makes for an interesting read. The woman whom the Lord had given a child through the word of Prophet Elisha had what can be described as a life-altering experience. Her child died. Bible records that the boy was with his father in the fields when he began to feel pain in his head. The father asked that the boy be taken to the mother. When he came to the mother at home, he died on her knees. What followed next is very instructive.

Here was this woman with her only child, which she received by Elisha’s prophetic intervention, dead. What will she do? How will she take it? How will she ever be consoled? But here is what she does. She sends to her husband to send her transportation (an ass) and a driver (a young man) so she could go to the man of God. She didn’t bring down the roof with weeping and ululation; she had a plan (vs 18-22).

Next, observe her disposition and her responses in the face of this tragedy. Firstly, she takes the child and lays him on the bed of the prophet and shut the door, reminds me of 1 Peter 5:7 that says to put all our burdens on the Lord for He cares for us. Then when her husband asked her why she was going to see the man of God seeing as there was no special occasion (he had no idea the boy had died), she replied, it is well. Next, she instructed the driver to keep driving and not to slow down or stop until they got to the man of God. It was clear in her heart where she needed to be at such a moment as this (vs 23&24).

Again, when Gehazi the prophet’s servant approached her and inquired if all was well, she kept her confession, it is well. This isn’t positive speaking, she was going to the place where she was certain solutions will spring from, and when she got there, she grabbed the Prophet’s feet, and the Bible records in verse 37 that she received her boy back from the dead.

There is a place for weeping and there is a place for praying (never substitute one for the other), but there is absolutely no place for worrying. Whatever tempts you to worry is certainly something you should be praying about. Worry about nothing, pray about everything, and while you are at it, ensure your lips echo your faith. Make prayer your first resort, and hold fast to your confession of faith.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me always have the victor's attitude and proceed from victory unto victory. Amen.

Lessons From Shunem: Honor

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2114
Matthew 10:41a (NET): Whoever receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. (Read 2 Kings 4:8-17).

Honour is a key virtue in God’s kingdom. It comes from discerning the grace of God and placing the right value on it. Jesus spoke often about it and the apostles did too in the epistles. Honour, as the Bible teaches it, is not just about the person, it is about the authority and grace of God on that person. Again, Bible honor is not just respect; it also manifests in acts of service. In Matthew 15 verses 4 to 6, Jesus referencing honor for parents illustrated it with giving. Apostle Paul did the same in 1 Timothy 5:17&18.

The woman in Shunem (2 Kings 4:8-10) provides us a great lesson in honor. Firstly, she insisted and persuaded Elisha to have a meal in her house every time he passed by. Secondly, she made renovations in her house and bought extra furniture so as to accommodate Elisha. She said: Why don’t we add on a small room upstairs and furnish it with a bed and desk, chair and lamp, so that when he comes by he can stay with us (vs 10 MSG).

Note that she didn’t do this because Elisha was a hungry homeless man. Rather read verse 9: “I’m certain,” said the woman to her husband, “that this man who stops with us all the time is a holy man of God” (MSG).

She did it simply because he was a man of God. Not as charity, not for a blessing, not for her needs or selfish ends but for honor sake.

Honour allows for the power of God to flow effectively in our lives. In Mark 6:1-6, you see Jesus could do no mighty works in his own hometown. They failed to discern him as the Son of God but as the son of the carpenter. Their lack of honor festered and fostered unbelief. In contrast, in the story of the centurion (Matt 8:1-13), he rightly discerned the authority and the grace of Jesus and Jesus commended his great faith and his servant was healed.

Go into today determined to make honor your lifestyle, always being ready to give honor where it is due, not for eye-service, but for honor’s sake. This is one of the keys to unleashing the power of the divine life.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me give honor to whom honor is due and help me receive the reward thereof. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Understanding The Lord's Will 5

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2113
Proverbs 4:7-8 (KJV)
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

Aarav became five times more successful in his business when he started running it according to the principles of God's kingdom. At first, it was looking as if he would not make as much profit because he reduced his interest rates and improved his quality of service. It looked as if he was committing business suicide, but with time, he established himself as the most trusted name in that business in his city. No one had the volume of turn over that he had, and he started making more profit than those with ungodly interest rates.

Yesterday we saw that the true definition of walking in wisdom is walking in the will of God (see Ephesians 5:17). Those who seek the will of God in all things are those who seek to walk wisely in all things.
Every foolish decision I have ever made in my life was made because I did not consider the will of God as the top priority in that decision-making process.

If you truly seek the will of God as the top priority of your life, you will find it, if you seek it with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 says (KJV)  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

It takes faith to connect with the will of God and see the wisdom therein. Faith provides a better sight than natural sight, that is why we should walk by faith and not by sight (see 2 Corinthians 5:7).
When walking in faith, patience is required. Hebrews 6:12 (KJV)  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Go into today determined to walk in the will of God as your top priority. Remember that wisdom is the principal thing, and walking in the will of God is the way to walk wisely.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to exalt your will and walk wisely all the days of my life. Amen.

Understanding The Lord's Will 4

Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2112
Ephesians 5:17 (NET) For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise by understanding what the Lord’s will is.

Aarav read all the psychology books about marriage he could find because he wanted to have a successful marriage. But he found that all his knowledge (and the application thereof) was not strong enough to save his marriage. Things became too mechanical and the marriage was heading for a crash.

When he accepted Christ, he sought for and discovered the will of God concerning marriage. He realized and understood true love. He found that by simply loving his wife, being the head (through sacrifice and not by manipulation or coercion), his marriage became much better and sweeter.

He came to discover that walking in God's will is wiser than the best of human wisdom.

Wisdom can be defined as the right application of knowledge to achieve set goals. But the best of human knowledge sometimes prove not sufficient to solve the real issues of life (because many have spiritual roots). The wisest thing for a person is to understand the will of God concerning things and walk in it (walking in the will of God produces great spiritual power).

Understanding is a function of the human spirit (see Job 32:8). It takes a regenerated human spirit to understand the will of God. When a person accepts [the Lordship of] Christ Jesus, his spirit is born again{after God's nature] and now has the ability to understand the will of God. God has His will concerning every area of life. With the help of the Word and the Holy Spirit, we can understand God's will, and walking in God's will is the true definition of wisdom.

We are eternal beings; we would all be alive and conscious in the next millions and billions of years. Many decisions made outside of the [consideration of the] will of God may look wise within the context of time [under the sun], but would end up being revealed to be very foolish decisions when seen from an eternal perspective. The only way we can truly walk wisely is to seek to understand the will of the Lord and walk in it.

Go into today with a renewed desire to understand God's will concerning every area of your life. This is the key to walking in [eternal] wisdom.
Proverbs 4:7 (KJV) Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk wisely in life by understanding your will in all areas of life. Amen.

Walking In God's Will 2

Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/audio2111

Hebrews 10:23 - 25 (NLT)
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.

After Sharon graduated from the university and got a very good job,  she became so busy that she no longer had much time for her fellowship with the Lord and with brethren. She didn't know that this was draining her spiritually until she traveled with her family to the village for Christmas and found that she was now being afflicted in her dreams. Something that used to happen to her when she was a little girl before she accepted the Lordship of Christ Jesus.

When she got back to the city,  she determined that she was not going to continue to run after everything else but God. She started waiting on the Lord in prayer and fasting. She started having long prayers with her friends over the phone daily, she now became more serious about finding a church that upholds the truth of God's Word because the church she was attending in the city was just a 'feel-good' church with very little spiritual substance of life. Most of her colleagues who were workers in that church were fornicators and she knew this.

Many believers backside when they change environment because they are not diligent to maintain their spiritual disciplines that may now not fit into their new environment. Believers who would continue to grow are those who value their Christian fellowship and fight to maintain it.
Today,  we are in an age of information technology--let's take advantage of it. Because of conference calls,  it is easy to maintain fellowship and prayer meetings with your brethren (of the same spirit) even if you are now far away from each other.

Go into today remembering that your company matters a lot. That's why God has commanded us not to neglect the fellowship of our brethren. Much life and power, is generated when believers who love the Lord and each other gather together under His authority.

Prayer: Father Lord,  please help me not to neglect the fellowship of my brethren. Strengthen me with might in the inner man by your spirit, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Walking In God's Will

Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2110

Romans 8:28 (KJV)  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Sharon was 16 years old when it became clear to her that her life was not ordinary but God had a plan for her. She did not know many doctrines,  all she knew was that God loved righteousness and hated iniquity,  so she avoided all appearances of iniquity.

When she got to the university,  she maintained her lifestyle of purity and discipline. Because of this, some of her classmates did not like her.
Because she did not have many friends, she developed friendship with the Lord and became very excellent in everything she did as a result. What the enemy meant for evil became the reason she graduated at the top of her class.

A believer who loves God demonstrates his love by obedience.  Jesus says if you love me you will keep my commandments (John 14:15). We saw some of the Lord's commandments yesterday. We are to rejoice evermore,  pray without ceasing and be thankful in everything (see Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Those who live in the sovereign will of God; those for whom all circumstances end up working for their good,  are those who love God. Remember Joseph,  all the enemy did to put him down ended up being what the Lord used to propel him to his glorious destiny. We also see that Joseph loved God. This was demonstrated in his refusal to violate the standards of God's righteousness that he knew. He refused to sleep with Potiphar's wife because he said God wouldn't approve.

Do you want to walk in the will of God and fulfill your glorious destiny? Then walk in the love of God. May we find grace to do just this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayer: Father,  help me love you in truth and walk in the reality of your will. Deliver me from the love of this world. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Understanding The Lord's Will 3

Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud2109
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (KJV)  Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

I remember spending some time with a servant of God who walks in great power and who I truly admire. I couldn't help but observe how light and joyful the atmosphere around him was. I never saw him complaining or being heavy. He was so full of joy, peace, and thanksgiving. No wonder the Lord could use him so mightily.

What we have in today's Bible verses are instructions not suggestions or counsel. Any believer who wants to understand and walk in the will of God must learn to be full of joy, thanksgiving: and prayers.

People who are negative and full of complaints cannot rejoice evermore. An atmosphere of complaining and heaviness does not engender prayer and fellowship with the Lord. It engenders weakness because the joy of the Lord is our strength.

We see in today's scripture that we are to give thanks in everything. For the believer in Christ Jesus, there is always a reason to give thanks. That we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places, and we are heirs of God's eternal kingdom through grace, are everlasting thanksgiving inspiring truths we must never forget. The more we focus on the good and are full of thanksgiving and joy, we would be full of strength and testimonies.

A believer who is always thankful is a believer who prays without ceasing because thanksgiving in itself is a kind of prayer and a catalyst for other kinds of prayers.

Go into today determined to be more joyful, more sober and prayerful, and full of thanksgiving because this is the will of God for you.

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to pray without ceasing by being ever thankful and full of Joy. Help me realize that my fellowship with you is the best thing in this world. Amen.

Growing In the Knowledge of God

Devotional  Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1420

Colossians 1:9-10 (NET)
For this reason we also, from the day we heard about you, have not ceased praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may live worthily of the Lord and please him in all respects - bearing fruit in every good deed, growing in the knowledge of God

Mitch observed that whenever his roommate slept in the room, he did not have the terrible nightmares and demonic attacks that had now become part of his adult life. Even though he was now a believer, he knew that his roommate walked in greater spiritual authority. He found out that this was because his roommate had a more robust relationship with the Lord.

The last part of today's Bible text makes it clear that it is possible for a believer to grow in the knowledge of God. This growth is the secret of manifesting great spiritual power. This is the secret of multiplied grace that makes us manifest the divine life in this present world (2 Pet 1:2-3).

We also see that it is possible for us to be fruitful in every good work. God wants you to be fruitful in every good area of your life. Living worthily of the Lord is the most important fruitfulness that makes it possible for you to have a robust relationship with God and grow in His grace and mighty power. Remember that the fruit of the Spirit affects the way you live.

Being fruitful in every area is only possible when you are filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Go into today remembering that the knowledge of God’s will is received when you pay attention to His word.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you apply your heart to His word.

The Hope Of The Believer

Download Audio version ☞ http://bit.ly/audio1419

Colossians 1:5 (NET)
Your faith and love have arisen from the hope laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospel

When the gospel was first preached to the people in Colossi, they were told about the hope of their calling. They understood that they were now part of an eternal kingdom that will soon be made visible to every eye. They understood that they were going to be resurrected with the kind of Body that Christ possesses right now (Phil 3:21). A body that makes it possible for Him to partake in the realms of heaven and earth (spiritual and physical realms), for Jesus ascended bodily into heaven. A body that could never be destroyed- one that would reveal our true unlimited nature as sons of God (see Romans 8:23 in AMP version).

In this body, we would have the power to easily and naturally speak to literal mountains and command them to move into the ocean. We would not need to study books in order to have the deepest knowledge of things, for we would know all things, including the secrets of the universe.

When Jesus physically returns to this world with His saints (Jude 1:14), we would literally take over the governments of this world and rule over the world and judge both people and angels (see 1 Cor 6:2-3). We would be irresistible because we would come with glorified indestructible bodies with unlimited power.
This is a brief summary of the hope laid up for you as a believer. Anyone that has this hope purifies himself (read 1 John 3:2-3).

Many believers do not understand the hope that they have been called into, and their faith wanes because they limit their hope to earthly expectations.

Go into today remembering that you are part of God’s eternal kingdom if you believe in Christ Jesus.

Maturity and The Blessing

Get Today's Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1786

Ephesians 4:14 (NET)
So we are no longer to be children, tossed back and forth by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching by the trickery of people who craftily carry out their deceitful schemes.

Sandra had a challenge that really troubled her. She was a believer and had certain spiritual gifts, but this challenge proved stubborn. After praying and fasting for months over the issue, she decided to meet her discipler concerning it. He got a prophetic insight into the problem and prayed for her from that standpoint, and the problem was solved. Sandra’s discipler could pray once and solve a problem she had battled for months because through spiritual maturity, he walked in more spiritual might and authority than her.

Sandra knew it was time for her to become spiritually mature and stable.

One attribute of spiritually mature believers is the willingness to give. Babies don’t give anything or contribute anything to the family, but only know how to take. But when babies grow to become responsible adults, they begin to give to their parents and not just take.

There are believers who give to the work of God, but only because they believe that is a way to get more out of God. This is the same ‘take-take’ mentality of spiritual babes.

The spiritually mature gives because of love. They give because they know they are blessed [with all blessings in heavenly places], not primarily because they want to be blessed. Spiritually mature believers are stable and are not blown about by every wind of doctrine. They don’t give impulsively because someone promised a breakthrough in return. They give purposedly and cheerfully (2 Cor 9:7) because they see a need and desire to meet it, honor God by giving to His ministers and ministries; and honor God by giving to their parents (both physical and spiritual).

Go into today knowing that your spiritual maturity is determined by your actions. Renounce every way and conduct of spiritual infancy, and you will begin to see the fruits of maturity in your life. The fruits of maturity include spiritual stability, walking in spiritual might and authority, etc.
Prayer: Lord, help me renounce childish ways and grow into the fullness of your will. Amen.

Put On The New Nature

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud1053
Ephesians 4:24 [AMP]
And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God's image, in true righteousness and holiness.

Bankole did not just stop being bad, he started being good. He could now put off his old bad nature and put on his new good nature because he now had the power to do so.

Many Christians don’t realize that they have the power to put on their new righteous nature. Many fail because they try to do this without first putting off the old nature of unrighteousness. They try to be good without calling sin what it is (confessing their sins and renouncing them). They try to justify what they know is a sin.

You cannot be a person of integrity if you still tell lies. You have to first decide to stop telling lies (putting off the old nature), and now decide to start walking in your new nature of integrity which you have received as a gift from God.

You cannot truly start walking in mountain-moving faith if you don’t first put off the old nature of fear and unbelief.

Go into today knowing that you now have the power to put off the sinful, disobedient nature and put on the nature of righteousness and Holiness that you have received as a gift from God. Ask the Lord to help you do this. Not yet saved? Click ☞ http://bit.ly/1iTOmol

Understanding the Lord's Will 2

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2108

1 Thessalonians 4:3 (NET)  For this is God’s will: that you become holy, that you keep away from sexual immorality
I remember having a conversation with a backslidden brother who had an argument with me concerning the definition of fornication. He was trying to prove to me that if two people have agreed to marry each other, and they become intimate, they are not committing fornication, that marriage was about consent. I tried to show him from scripture that even though marriage was about consent, a lady is given in marriage by the constituted [spiritual] authority over her. She does not give herself in marriage but her father or someone occupying that position in her life is the one who gives her in marriage.

My conversation with this brother (who the Lord is now restoring) opened my eyes to an obvious phenomenon I had not properly considered: sexual immorality is a major source of stumbling for many believers, but little is said about it in many church assemblies. Many have gotten into trouble in this area because of carelessness in little things. I remember haven to instruct one of my mentees to never be alone and have a sister visit.

God's will for us believers is that we become holy. There is nothing that hinders this like sexual immorality. Fleeing sexual immorality for the believer is not a suggestion, it is an instruction. If we must continue to live and excel spiritually, we must put to death the works of the flesh (see Romans 8:13), and the first in that list is sexual immorality (see Galatians 5:19).

We live in a world that is increasingly sensual. Temptations are everywhere, but remember that where Sin abounds, grace abounds much more. Grace empowers us to resist sin. It teaches us how to deny worldly lusts (Titus 2:11-12). (It would teach an unmarried young man not to tell a lady he does not intend to marry that 'I love you'.)

Go into today asking the Lord for grace to stand in this area. This grace is received by faith. You have to believe that you can stand and stay pure.

Prayer: I Expel and resist every [latent] influence of the spirits of immorality. I walk in Holiness and inherit God's promises. Amen (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Understanding the Lord's Will

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2107

Ephesians 5:15-17 (NET)
15 Therefore be very careful how you live – not as unwise but as wise,
16 taking advantage of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
17 For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise by understanding what the Lord’s will is.

After Aarav accepted the Lord and understood the importance of fulfilling divine destiny,  he wanted to know the will of God in every decision he was to make because he understood that walking in the will of God is the definition of walking wisely.
He would seek to hear from God either by prophecy, word of knowledge or by dreams in order to be sure that a decision he was to make is God's will.
But as Aarav grew in the faith,  he realized that he became wiser spiritually, and in most cases,  he didn't need a prophetic manifestation in order to discern the will of God. He now understood the will of God,  and this made him walk more accurately and wisely.

God does not just want us to know His will,  He wants us to understand His will. Understanding the will of God is a product of spiritual wisdom (see Ephesians 5:17). There is what the Bible calls spiritual wisdom and understanding (see Colossians 1:9). Spiritual wisdom is a product of fruitful knowledge of God's Word and counsel. If a believer applies his heart to the word of God and determines to live according to it,  the word of God will change his outlook to life. As this happens,  he becomes wiser and is able to understand the will of God. There are many grey areas in this life, and those who would navigate accurately are those who have minds that can understand God's will.

When you read the Bible and see God make decisions,  go beyond knowing what the decisions were and try to understand why they were made. This would help you understand the mind of God and walk in it.

Go into today desiring to understand the will of God in all areas of life. This is the secret of walking wisely and fulfilling divine purpose.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me understand Your will and walk in it all the days of my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

How Do You Define Success 1?

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2106
Matthew 12:50 (KJV)
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Finding out that a volume was written concerning me by God before I was born has been my most thrilling discovery: for me, it is a game-changer. There is a detailed description of God’s intention for me and If I know it (them), do and finish it (them), I’ll receive a "well done thou good and faithful servant" from The Lord, and this to me will be the peak of all success. This is how I see success, how do you see success?

In John 4:34 (KJV), Jesus says ’’ my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work’’. Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) says that we should look unto Jesus; ’’ Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’’

If Jesus is our example for life, then, the food that keeps us going (just like him), must be how to do the will of God and to finish his work. This will then mean that the standard by which success will be judged will be the degree to which we walk in the will of God.

Go into today knowing that the most important discovery for a child of God is to know the will of God for him. It is on this premise that he may then be judged successful or not.

Pray this way: Heavenly Father, please help me walk in your will always. In Jesus' name. Amen.

It's a Family Matter

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2105

Hebrews 2:11 AMPC
For both He Who sanctifies [making men holy] and those who are sanctified all have one [Father]. For this reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren

When Dan won the election, he now realized that he had many 'brothers' and 'sisters'. People he had never known before would come and explain to him how they are close relatives. But he remembered when he was struggling, and no one but his true family identified with Him. They were the ones who helped him get back on his feet when he lost everything. They were the ones who were not ashamed of him when he was at his lowest but helped him. This his family members were his Christian brethren with whom he shared a bond stronger than flesh and blood.

When a person becomes a believer in Christ Jesus, he becomes a member of God's glorious household. God becomes his Father and Jesus his Brother.
Because Jesus is God come in the flesh, it normally would have been a thing of shame for Him to reckon with us as brethren, but Jesus is not ashamed to call us brethren. Such grace, such love!

If Jesus could call us brethren, we should not be ashamed of reckoning ourselves as brethren with any believer, no matter how lowly or wretched they may seem.

The next time you pray, remember that you are praying to your heavenly Father who wants the best for you at all times. Pray from that standpoint, that the way Jesus prayed (John 17:11), and that's the most effective way to pray (see Ephesians 3:14).

Go into today having your expectations shaped by the understanding that God is your Father and Jesus is your brother.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me walk daily in the reality of who you have made me in Your family. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Don’t Waste Your Mornings

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2104

Psalms 5:3 (ESV) “O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”

How do you begin your day? What are the first thoughts that flood your mind when you open your eyes in the morning? What are those things that keep you in bed and draw your attention whenever you awaken? There are hungers and avoidances that draw our hearts and attention every morning. Pastor John Piper categorizes them as novelty hunger, ego hunger, entertainment hunger, boredom avoidance, responsibility avoidance and hardship avoidance. But there is a better way to begin the day. It will take some planning and discipline.

What we want in the morning is to be filled with the Spirit of God. We want something that will give us a zeal for the glory of Christ for the day’s work. We want to be strengthened to face whatever the day may bring. We want to go into the day filled with righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost and extend these to others around us. That is the real agenda to pursue in the morning.

Let the first thing out of your mouth in the morning be a cry to God, telling Him how much you love and need Him. Let God be the first to hear your voice in the morning before all others. Then prepare a sacrifice which is your body. Dedicate your body afresh to Him this morning and watch. Watch and wait in expectation because He will show up for you in the course of your day.

Pray with the Psalmist: O Lord, in the morning you will hear my voice, in the morning I will pray to you and watch for your answer.

His Stripes Healed You

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2103

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Ray thought the skin disease he had would be healed once he received Christ as his Lord and Savior, but the condition remained. It was after he listened to a teaching on healing in his Church that he changed his prayer from the regular ‘Lord place heal me’.

He realized after the teaching that he had been healed a long time ago and that all he needed to do was to receive his healing by faith and thanksgiving in Jesus' name. That day, his prayer changed to ‘‘Lord, I thank you because you healed me by your stripes, I now receive my healing in Jesus name, amen.’’ He however still had visible signs of the disease on his body which whenever he saw wanted to create doubt in his mind but he prayed again, ‘‘Lord, thank you for bearing the stripes that healed me, I bless you because I have been healed in Jesus name, amen.’’ He continued to thank God for his healing every time he saw the signs. This was how he became completely healed.

You see, if you are a child of God, you have been healed by the stripes of Jesus and he does not want you to be sick at all, but if you fall sick, you simply need to receive the healing Christ has already offered you by faith and thanksgiving in Jesus name.

Go into today knowing that you have been healed by Jesus’ stripes. Divine healing and health is your portion.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for healing me, thank you Lord for divine health.

When Trials Come (Learning from Elizabeth and Zachariah)

Download Audio Version here: bit.ly/aud2102

Luke 1: 5-7 (NET) During the reign of Herod king of Judea, there lived a priest named Zechariah who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah, and he had a wife named Elizabeth, who was a descendant of Aaron. They were both righteous in the sight of God, following all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly. But they did not have a child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both very old.

Arm yourself with the right knowledge: The first thing to note is that trials do come. John 16:33b says “in the world ye shall have tribulation”. As far as we are in this world, trials will come. Did you notice that in the story of Elizabeth and Zachariah the Bible never once alluded that the barrenness of Elizabeth was as a result of their sin? In fact, the Bible described them both as ‘righteous in the sight of God, following all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly’. Arm yourself with the right knowledge, trouble doesn’t necessarily mean you were the cause. Because the danger of such thinking is that it places on you the responsibility of undoing it by your own works. No. Don’t browbeat yourself, take the focus off yourself. Recognize it as what it is; a trial of your faith.

Continue serving the Lord:
Discouragement is a weapon of the devil. He uses it to crush a man’s spirit. Here is what Proverbs 18:14 says, ‘A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?’, verse 22 of chapter 17 says ‘A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit drains one’s strength’. Many tend to draw back when faced with trials. They become withdrawn from God’s work and God’s people…No! verse 8 of our text says, ‘Now while Zachariah was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty’. He didn’t leave his duty post but kept on serving the Lord.

Pray, keep praying, don’t stop praying:
Philippians 4:6 admonishes against worrying but rather pray, and in Luke 18 verse 1 Jesus told a story to pass a message on why men must always pray and never give up. Zachariah must have done just that, pray. For when the angel of the Lord met him in the temple, he said to him in verse 13, “Do not be afraid, Zachariah, for your prayer has been heard; and your wife will bear you a son…’. Just to avoid any misunderstanding, the angel clarified which prayer he was referring to, prayer concerning the wife’s barrenness. So pray, pray believing.

(Of course, trouble can sometimes arise as a direct consequence of our sinful actions, even then there is hope. Repent and look back to God for help in prayer, pray believing)

Prayer: Lord, please help me always remember that you are with me. Thank you Lord. Amen.

Knowing The Will Of God: Marriage 1

Devotional  Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1409

Romans 12:2 (NET)
2 Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.

A renewed mind is the only mind that can discern the will of God. As a believer, your mind is renewed when you allow the word of God change the way you think.

These are the three components of the will of God as perceived by the renewed mind:
It is GOOD, it is WELL-PLEASING and it is PERFECT

GOOD:
Only God and who/what is born of God is good.
A ruler came to Jesus and said 'good teacher' (see Luke 18-19)
Jesus asked him ‘why do you call me good?’ He then said 'no one is good except God alone'. Jesus implicitly asked the young ruler that ‘are you saying that I’m God?’ Because that’s who Jesus was.

The important lesson Jesus was teaching is that you cannot find ‘Good’ outside God. The young ruler came to Jesus and called Him 'good teacher', but he did not understand what he was talking about. Jesus was indeed good, but not because of the man’s definition. He was good because He was born of God, and is God.

You cannot define Good outside God.
What does this mean when it comes to who to marry?
A person is only good when he or she is born of God. The first attribute of the will of God is that it must be good.
God warns us not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers (see 2 Cor 6:14)
As a believer, this is the most important consideration in determining the will of God concerning who to marry.

Go into today remembering that being a believer does not just mean the person says he or she is a Christian. The person must believe in God the way you believe in God.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk in your will in all things. Amen.
