GOOD WORKS

Devotional Audio: http://j.mp/1TBzEQb
Eph 2:8-9
Eph 2:8-9

For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 it is not from works, so that no one can boast.[NET]

“Pastor SD Abraham, can you please explain Ephesians 8:9 in light of the devotional you wrote yesterday about THE TRUE FAITH. It clearly states that our salvation is not from works. Why then do you say faith must have works?”

If you read the verse after today’s Bible verse you quoted, it says we are now created in Christ Jesus for Good works.

Eph 2:10 says “For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works…”

The works produced by your faith are not dead works of the flesh produced by legalism.

Let’s be clear about something, there’s no ‘good’ work you can do that can pay for your salvation. There is no ‘good’ without God (Jesus made this quite clear in Mat 19:17), and God does not work with you to do His good works without faith in your heart.

The only way we receive salvation is by faith in Christ Jesus. What Apostle James teaches in James 2 is that if this faith is not dead, it has works that it produces as proof of its life.

Therefore, there are two categories of works: THE WORKS OF THE FLESH (referred to in Eph 8:9) and THE GOOD WORKS OF FAITH (referred to in Eph 8:10, James 2:14).

If your faith does not produce any good works, it is dead because any faith that is living produces good works. God has called us and ordained us to bring forth fruit which can be referred to as the good works of faith.

Go into today knowing that Just as a branch abiding in the vine does not struggle to bring forth fruit, so you are not to struggle to produce good works if your faith is living.

Confession: My faith is alive, and it produces good works in my life. Amen. Not saved? Go to: http://bit.ly/1iTOmol

STREAM 2 ► Beholding Christ 2

1 John 3:2
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. [NIV]

Anyone who believes in Jesus and accepts him as Lord and savior is a child of God. In God’s household, Jesus is our first born (see Rom 8:29). Everything that he has experienced we shall also experience. This is the pattern of God for the church. We have been crucified with Christ and are raised with Him if we truly are walking in the spirit. The grace of God empowers us to crucify the flesh daily and walk in the spirit. Jesus Christ resurrected with a glorified body and we too who believe in Him shall also resurrect with glorified bodies during rapture (see 1 Cor 15:52).

As our text reveals; we don’t know how we shall be when we are resurrected, all we know is that we shall be like the Lord is. Our minds may not be able to comprehend the glory that shall be revealed in us, but by the spirit of God, we know that we shall be like Christ and reign in glory.

Go into today knowing that the rapture can happen any moment. Just like Jesus lived on the earth to fulfill His God given purpose, you are expected, by the help of the Holy Spirit to do the same. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is what guarantees you being raptured (see Eph 1:13-14, 2 Cor 1:22).

Prayer: Thank you Father for Your grace that has selected me for your salvation. I pray you help me always walk worthy of my calling in you, in Jesus name. Amen.

THE TRUE FAITH

Devotional Audio Link:http://j.mp/1NEOdTL
James 2:14
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Can this kind of faith save him? [NET]

You cannot say you are alive and there would be no physical proof of life. At least, you would breathe. You cannot say you have faith and there is no manifestation of your faith in the way you live. Just like there is the true kind of Faith, there is also the counterfeit kind of faith. We know this faith by the way people who claim to have faith live their lives.

Many people have claimed to have faith in the Lord Jesus but are still exactly the way they were when they were unbelievers. Today’s Bible text shows us that that kind of faith they claim to have will not save them. That kind of faith is counterfeit and not the Faith handed over by our Lord (see Jude 1:3).

I have observed that one of the first things faith in your heart will affect is the way you talk and the way you respond to God’s word. If there is real faith in your heart, it will affect the way and the things you say. You will no longer say words that are characterized by faithlessness. A man who truly has faith in God is always conscious of God’s sovereign presence. And this affects the way he lives his life.

As you go into today, remember that the works that faith produces in your life are works of Love. Let the words you say and the things you do show that you have faith in the living God. Remember also that you are not alone. God is watching over you jealously.

Prayer: Father, please help me walk in the true faith and never in a counterfeit one. I ask for grace to always set you before my eyes (see Acts 2:25). In Jesus name, Amen.

STREAM 2 ► Beholding Christ

1 John 3:2
…But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. [NIV]

Daniel always wondered why David talked and gestured in a peculiar way each time he was to pray or lead a prayer. When Daniel eventually visited David’s church and saw the way their General overseer prayed and preached, he understood. He saw that his friends were simply unconsciously mirroring the manners of their general overseer who they revered and admired.

The more of someone you look upon with reverence and admiration, the more like that person you become. This happens unconsciously but it really happens to everyone.

In today’s Bible text, we see that we shall be like Christ when he appears, for we shall see Him as He is. Christ has put in you the nature and the ability to be like Him. This nature is activated when you behold Him.

Christians are to look unto Jesus always (see Heb 12:2). We are to behold the mirror of God’s word and see Christ who is the image of what we are to become (see 2 Cor 3:18). The more of Christ we see, the more of Christ we become.

Do you see Christ in your world; controlling everything?

Go into today determined to live a Christ centered life; bring Christ into all you do by always submitting to His government and Lordship. Remember that all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (see Mat 28:18) so He is truly in control of everything in your life.

Prayer: thank you lord for calling me and making me your own. I pray you help me daily behold you more and more. Amen.

BE OF GOOD CHEER

Devotional Audio: http://j.mp/1N1owwB

John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. [KJV]

Temidayo was now tired of this world. Each time he tuned to the news channel, there was another bad news. The level of insecurity in his country now reached heights never seen before. He just heard that another friend of his was kidnapped. 'Would he be the next victim?' he thought as he started becoming more and more despondent daily.

Jesus has forewarned us of the evil and tribulations in this world. One reason I believe He gave us this warning is to prepare us so that we would not be perplexed by the news of the evil we now hear. Remember He also instructed us to ‘be of good cheer’ despite the fact that there will be tribulation in the world.

As a Christian, you can choose to dwell in the bad news you hear and allow it make you sad, or you can chose to dwell on the good news of the gospel and let joy fill your soul. The best thing still happening in the world is the saving grace of Christ Jesus. It far outweighs all the evil in the world.

When you focus on the bad news and allow it make you unhappy, it also makes you lose your spiritual strength. But when you focus on the good and pleasant things and allow thanksgiving produce true joy in your spirit, your spirit is strengthened.

Go into today determined to be a joyful person regardless of the tribulation in the word. Know that joy and thanksgiving is the will of God for you always (see 1 Thes 5:16-18).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you always magnify Him in your life. Amen

STREAM 2 ► God’s Commandments

1 John 2:3
Now by this we know that we have come to know God: if we keep his commandments. [NET]

Nkechi said “ever since I started taking my walk with God more seriously, I noticed that a lot of things in my life have changed positively. There are things I just wouldn't do anymore and my nature has changed. I find myself not hating the people I normally would have hated before, instead I find myself loving them. I also found that my mindset to life has changed greatly. I wasn’t always like this. I remember I would keep malice for several days with my sister and not talk to her. Today, I find such character practically impossible.”

All Nkechi did was to allow the word of God into her life. When the word of God came to her, she accepted it and did not reject it or argue with it; she adjusted her life accordingly. Looking back at her life, she sees a great difference and a positive change. This change was not mechanized or calculated, it came as a result of the renewing of her mind by the word of God.

The summary of God’s commandments is love. He has written His law in your heart and mind. When you walk with Him and submit to His government, you will find yourself keeping His commandments; you will find yourself walking in love.

Go into today determined to live your life under the government of Christ. Know that you have been bought with a price and your life now belongs to Christ.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your grace that helps me walk in your light. I pray you help me never give in to distractions but ever growing in grace, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

BE JOYFUL ALWAYS

1 Thess 5:16
Be joyful always [NIV]
Devotional Audio Link: http://j.mp/1VVeeAF

Chinedu: Pastor, I don’t know what is happening to me. I am spiritually very weak. I have noticed that I recently have been falling into temptations and I even have been very prone to demonic attacks. I now have nightmares again.

Pastor Dele: I am not surprised to hear this

Chinedu: I don’t understand. How come you are not surprised?

P. Dele: Ever since you didn’t pass that professional exam, I have noticed that you have lost your cheerful and happy spirit. Because of this, I knew spiritual strength would depart from you, and I have been praying for you. When the Bible says ‘be joyful always’ it is not just an advice, it is a commandment because the Lord knows that His joy is our strength (see Neh 8:10c).

Chinedu: But how do I overcome my depression?

P. Dele: you can begin by changing your mindset. Instead of complaining and feeling deprived, why not thank the Lord and remember all He has done for you. Thank Him because you succeeded in becoming a doctor in the first place. Don’t you remember the many that started medical school but couldn’t graduate?

Thanksgiving and praise is a major key to sending away the spirit of heaviness and filling your heart with the presence of God. Do not let the devil deceive you; the simple fact that you are still alive is something to be thankful for. If Satan were so powerful, he would have taken your life long ago.

Spiritual strength is very important for every Christian, and one key to this is being constantly joyful. It guarantees your spiritual might for spiritual warfare and even your power to get physical wealth (see Deut 8:18.

Go into today determining to be joyful by focusing and meditating on the goodness of the Lord.

Prayer: thank the Lord for all He has done for you.

MEDITATE ON GOD'S WORD

Download the Audio Version: http://j.mp/1VPn3wr

Psalm 119:148 [KJV]
Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

As I was about to write this devotional, it came to my mind that it is time for us to lay more emphasis on Spiritual growth. Today, we shall examine something very important that enhances spiritual growth.

Many Christians have not learned much about the benefits of meditating on God’s word. Let’s look at this more closely.

Some have said ‘ I don’t understand what it means to meditate on the word’. But do you know that if you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate on the Word of God? Worry is when you take a negative thought and you think about it over and over and over, and this creates fear. In the same way, when you take a passage of Scripture and think about it over and over and over, that’s called meditating on the Word, and this produces faith.

Everyone that can worry can meditate. Meditating on God’s word builds your faith. Worrying builds fear, and fear hinders faith and ushers in darkness. Faith is your most important spiritual weapon. It ensures your victory in life (see Eph 6:16, 1 John 5:4b).

Why don’t you try this today: instead of worrying about any situation, find a word from the Bible about it and meditate on that word.

Go into today, making up your mind to meditate on God's word that speaks about the situation you are going through. Use the time normally allotted to worrying to now meditate on God’s word and on His power.

Prayer
Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see wondrous things from Your word. Amen.

ABLE AND WILLING 2

Get the Complete Devotional in Today's Audio: http://j.mp/1Wl8U8L

Mat 8:11 —12
And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.[ KJV]

Let us take two lessons from here before we go on to the rest of the story.
Firstly, a centurion is a Roman officer in charge of a hundred soldiers. So he was not a Jew. Secondly, he came to Jesus differently from the leper. The centurion did not ask if Jesus was willing, he came simply telling the Master his problem.

The centurion further surprised the Master when he said Jesus did not have to come over, He should just speak the word and the servant would get healed. At this, Jesus said He had not seen this kind of faith in Him in all of Israel. (Mat. 8:10). Jesus then went on to make the statement which formed our main text today; people will come from outside to enjoy the benefits of the kingdom while the children of the kingdom wallow in the dark. This is Grace in action. If it is unmerited, then even non-Christians may access it.

But to the Christian, we are told to come BOLDLY to the throne of grace and OBTAIN mercy. (Heb. 4:16). If my Father owns it and it is good for me, He will give it to me. I should not ask for it the way a non-member of the family would. Jesus told us our heavenly Father- more than our earthly fathers, is eager to give good things to those that ask Him. (Mat. 7:11).
Go into today knowing God is a good Father and has your very best interest at heart.
Go ahead and ask that good thing you desire. Rest in the understanding that He will do even better than you have asked.
Amen.

GRACE FOR THE JOURNEY 3

Download the Audio: http://j.mp/26lMZTw

Matt 7:7
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. [NET]

We have examined how grace is multiplied by asking and seeking. We have also seen that God does not expect us to run this race by our own ability but by His grace. We receive this grace by asking, seeking, and knocking. We have previously examined asking and seeking.

Let us examine the spiritual principle of knocking. In teaching us how to receive from God, Jesus told us the parable of a man who received help from his friend in the night because he was persistent- he kept knocking on the door (see Luke 11:5-13). The key about knocking is consistency. Consistency means doing what is right and continuing even when expected results are not immediately forthcoming.

For example, many people like you now read Streamglobe Devotional. What you may not know is that this work started since 2012, and it started with just a handful of friends who read it. Some warned us to stop sending the messages to them but we were not discouraged and continued to do the work consistently. Today, our feedback shows that thousands now read Streamglobe Devotional across several countries. This was something we desired from the first day we started, but a major key to getting here was knocking (consistency). And we are still knocking.

Is there something in your life you are asking the Lord to expand and increase? The Lord’s word for you today is that you should be consistent in doing what is right. He will bring growth as you keep knocking. He will redirect you if you are on the wrong path.

Go into today remembering to be consistent in doing what is right before God.

Confession: I am a child of God, Life responds positively to me. I am always a victor and never a victim. Amen.

GRACE FOR THE JOURNEY 2

Download the Audio Here:http://j.mp/1VIyu9n

Matt 7:7
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. [NET]

Gbemi began to notice that he was becoming spiritually weak. It wasn’t that he had fallen into any known sin, but he observed that his faith was quite low, much lower than it had been in a long time. Immediately, he knew this meant he needed more grace for the journey ahead. (You see, the grace of God can be likened to spiritual energy of life. A person can be full of it or can run low). Gbemi had ASKED the Lord to increase his grace and faith, but nothing seemed to change in his spirit. He knew it was now time to SEEK. He decided to go on a fast in order to seek the face of the Lord. During this period of seeking the face of the Lord, the Lord showed him certain things in his life that were not according to divine pattern. He repented and made the required change immediately.

The Lord wanted to bring Gbemi into a higher realm of grace and glory, but his current state of heart could not accommodate it. He received more grace when he took time out to seek the face of the Lord and gain spiritual alignment.

Sometimes, when we ask and we do not receive, it might just be a signal that it’s time to seek. Many times Christians seek the Lord in prayer and fasting, the result is that their grace is multiplied. This manifests in heightened ability to cast out strong demons and command difficult situations to obey the will of God.

Go into today to be a diligent and regular seeker of the Lord. Remember that when you seek, you will find. This is because God is your father.

Prayer: Heavenly father, please empower me to seek you and gain proper alignment with your will and power. Amen.

GRACE FOR THE JOURNEY 1

Download the Audio: http://j.mp/1MM42I6

Heb 4:16
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. [NLT]

A very wealthy king sent three of His servants to another city. They were to bring his goods from that city to their city within two days. He gave them sufficient money for their journey and for fueling their vehicles. Two of his servants arrived on time. The third servant was nowhere to be found. He showed up three days later after being apparently robbed and beaten up. He narrated to his boss how he ran out of fuel in the middle of the wilderness. His boss wasn’t very sympathetic with him; he said “I gave you more than enough money to buy fuel. You have failed, not because you are a bad person but because you failed to use the money I gave you to buy sufficient fuel at the right time and place. I am sorry, but you will not be promoted like you other colleagues who succeeded in their assignments”

Grace can also be defined as divine empowerment for exploits. It is the fuel with which we live goodly empowered lives on this earth. Many have fallen along the way side because they failed to approach God’s throne to receive grace. Jesus has paid the price for grace; all you need to do is to simply ask so that you can receive.

God does not expect you to run this race by your own power, which is why He has provided unhindered access to His grace. All you need to do is ask (see Mat 7:7)

Go into today determined to constantly ask your heavenly father for the grace you need in living the life that pleases Him and fulfills His assignments.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before your throne today. I ask for mercy and grace. Amen

ETERNAL LIFE

Download the Audio Here: http://j.mp/1SlRxQi

Eph 2:4-5
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. [NIV]

The life talked about in today’s Bible text is spiritual and eternal life. You see, the only reason why you can participate in this physical realm is because you are physically alive. The only reason why a person would be able to participate in the eternal realm is because he has eternal life. When the devil and some other angels sinned, they were cast out of God’s presence and fell from this life. When man sinned, we too were cast out of God’s presence and lost this eternal life because sin cannot participate in the eternal realm.

Because of God’s great love and grace, He made us alive again with Christ. Humankind’s only hope for eternal life is in Christ Jesus. This is because God included us in Christ when he was resurrected into eternal life. It is in His name that we have access to the things of God, for no one can come to the father except through Christ (see John 14:6).

There are numerous benefits to having eternal life. This is the highest quality of life and it has authority and advantage over all other realms of life; including lower spiritual realms where spirits and demons operate, and this physical three dimensional realm.

Go into today knowing that if you have received Christ, you have received a quality of life that even the devil and demons do not have. You can therefore exert authority and dominion over them and all their works (see Luke 10:19).

Confession: I have eternal life through Christ the Lord. I am walking in this life in Jesus name. Amen.

Luke 5:12
And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. [KJV]

The text above is the story of a leper who had no doubt about Jesus' ability to heal him, but is not as sure about His willingness. This is the story of many Christians in more than one ways.

First, take note that the leper called Jesus 'Lord'. He even fell on His face in worship of the Lord Jesus. Christians are people who accept Jesus as Lord and worship Him accordingly.

Secondly, he was described as 'full of leprosy'. Here was a man who knew Jesus as Lord, how did he still have so many issues in his life? Oh yes, countless Christians - believers in Jesus Christ - still have very many issues in their lives. Issues that they are not so sure Christ is willing to solve for them.

Like the leper, a lot of believers do not doubt the ability of the Lord Jesus Christ. They have read in the Scriptures, they have heard testimonies. So, they know Christ is more than able to solve their problems. But, will He? That is up to Him they think.

Do you have an issue in your life which you feel God is not willing to solve? A health issue, for instance. Jesus never turned back anyone that was sick. He is still ever willing to heal.

Start by praying the prayer in our main text today. Find some scriptures to make your case. Do it worshipfully. Believe to hear Him say to you like He did to the leper 'I will'. Amen.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, if you are willing, you can do even this (mention the issue).

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD2

Rom 3:21-22
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed - 22 namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction [NET]

Because Nkechi grew up in a Christian family, she had always known that certain things are bad, but she found them irresistible and very attractive. But ever since she started yielding herself daily to the Holy Spirit, she started to find those same things repulsive and dangerous.

Any Christian that lets the Holy spirit take Him to the point of seeing iniquity like Nkechi did will not find it easy to fall back again into sin.

When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are inviting Him to come and take control of your life. He dwells in you and empowers you to walk in His righteousness, not your own righteousness.

The righteousness of God produces love for righteousness in our hearts and hatred for iniquity (see Heb 1:9). This hatred for iniquity helps to keep us from iniquity.

Go into today asking the Lord to fill you afresh. Know that it is only those that are filled with the spirit that will be raptured.

Prayer: Father in heaven, I ask for your Holy Spirit to empower me love righteousness and hate inequity, in Jesus name. Amen.

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD 1

Rom 3:21-22
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed - 22 namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction [NET]

After Nkechi gave her life to Christ and received the Holy Spirit, she realized that it was difficult for her to go back to a lifestyle of sin. If she did, it felt like she was violating herself and destroying her peace. As she began to learn more of the word, she realized that she had received a new nature that was absolutely righteous. This nature did not enjoy sin and this was why she felt so dirty and guilty whenever she sinned.

Unfortunately, there are many that profess faith in Christ Jesus and claim the righteousness of Christ but live in a manner that is unrighteous. Some have done this so much that their consciences have been seared with hot iron; they are no more sensitive to the signals of their regenerated spirits. These signals make them know when they are doing something contrary so that they will repent.

Righteousness is not an idea, it is not a title. Righteousness is an action word. It is a way of life that is visible, and even the law cannot condemn this way of life (see Gal 5:21-23). Its standards are higher than that of the Law because it is produced by transformation of heart, not merely adoption of laws.

Go into today remembering that righteousness is an action word. Jesus came to empower you to walk in His righteousness. This righteousness is produced by faith in Him.

Confession: I am walking in a manner worthy of the Lord. I am pleasing Him in all respects (see Col 1:10) in Jesus name.

One of the reasons John the Baptist is so important is because his coming and ministry marked the beginning of the kingdom era. The kingdom of God is now the heavenly agenda for humankind. Anyone who will be saved now will have to accept the gospel and enter the kingdom of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

It is very sad that today, so many still preach the law rather than the kingdom. The law is characterized by rules and regulations. Obeying them should guarantee salvation, but it does not. The law and the prophets in themselves are not bad, and they came from God. But God brought the gospel because humankind does not have the ability to obey the law according to the spirit of the law. This made the law unable to produce real righteousness in people. The best it produced was self-righteousness which is as filthy rags before the lord. Note that righteousness is worn as a garment before the Lord.

Go into today knowing that the kingdom of God is the best thing that can happen to you. You enter into the kingdom by receiving Christ as your Lord and Savior; and trusting in His righteousness to empower you to be righteous.

Prayer Confession: I am saved by grace, not by law. I am a partaker in God's kingdom because of Christ Jesus. Amen.

WHO DO YOU SERVE? 2

DOWNLOAD DEVOTION AUDIO: http://j.mp/23Dokep

Luke 16:13
No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [KJV]

It is not possible to serve mammon and serve God at the same time. You would have to choose who you will serve.

Life under the sun is characterized by the need for money. One of the major reasons we go to school is to learn skills so that we can earn a living. This is OK as long as we understand that everything we are and have is for the purpose of serving God. Our greatest joy should not be in great cash, but in pleasing the Lord.

One of the ways to know whether you are serving mammon or God is by accessing what controls the choices you make in life. Do you make your choices based on the desire to make more money even at the expense of your relationship with God?

What propels you in life? Is it love for money or love God? Many people who claim to serve God today are actually propelled by their love for money and not love for God. The real thing that is propelling them is the desire to get more money. But this shouldn’t be the case with us.

As you go into today, ask the Lord to cleanse your heart from every outlook that magnifies mammon above its rightful size.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you to serve Him and please Him in all regards. Amen.
