Foundational Truths 2

Hebrews 6:1-2 (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Even though Patrick had already been baptized in water, it had little relevance and carried little power for him because he did not understand what it stood for and why it was necessary. He thought the purpose of water baptism was "to fulfill all righteousness". He also believed that the purpose of baptism in the Holy Spirit was so believers would speak in tongues. He knew nothing about the baptism of fire. He was not taught about these things and because of his ignorance, he could not connect with the power they brought.

The baptisms are a channel of divine power into the life of the believer. Believers lay hold on this power through faith furnished by understanding.

Baptism in water disconnects us from our old life so that we would be empowered to walk in the newness of life. Baptism in the Holy Ghost empowers us while baptism of fire purifies us so we can be used for greater things by God (2 Timothy 2:21).

When we believe in Jesus, we die to our old life and should put on the new life. Our spiritual burial is marked by our water baptism. Through it, every record of darkness concerning us is erased and we are brought into the expectation of the resurrection. We died with Christ(through faith), are buried with Him through [water] baptism, and would be resurrected just like Him because we have gone through the first two processes with Him.

Go into today meditating on the following verses:
Romans 6:3-5 (NET) Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life. For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection.

Prayer: Thank you Father for the mystery and power of the baptisms. Please help me make the most of them and walk in the newness of life in Jesus' name. Amen.

Eating Vegetables

Listen to the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2771
Daniel 1:8 (NET) But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the royal delicacies or the royal wine. He, therefore, asked the overseer of the court officials for permission not to defile himself. Please test your servants for ten days by providing us with some vegetables to eat and water to drink.
Movies and books are replete with stories of mothers trying to persuade their kids to eat their vegetables. Left to themselves, kids will eat only candy, chocolate, sweets, and cakes. This is why parents usually step in to try and persuade them to eat healthy by also taking some vegetables.

However, it would be an awkward sight to see a mother calling her son, on the behest of her daughter-in-law, to plead, tease or attempt to coerce him to vary his diets from burgers and cheesecakes to include healthier options such as grains, beans, and soups. So, what has changed? It is that we have an expectation that with maturity in age and mental development, a man (an adult) should have begun to display sound reasoning by taking responsibility for his health and well-being.

One mark of maturity (whether spiritual, mental, etcetera) is the ability and mental will to make decisions and choices based on rightness and propriety and not based on pleasure and convenience. He doesn’t just eat vegetables because it is prepared into a sumptuous vegetable soup delicacy, he is able to decide to take it for its benefit to his health and not just from the tantalizing aroma it emits.

In our text today we read about the story of Daniel and his three friends who didn’t have to eat vegetables; there was no compulsion from anyone around, there was meat and a sumptuous royal meal available, in fact, getting vegetables will require stepping out on a limb to make such a request to the King’s officer. Yet, knowing the law of the Lord concerning eating food offered to idols, it didn’t matter to Daniel that he was miles and miles away from Jerusalem and its temple, he took God’s law in his heart to exile and went for vegetable not for its superior taste, but for obedience and righteousness’ sake.

When we have trained ourselves to eat vegetables in the presence of a sumptuous and tantalizing aroma, then we can serve the Lord even when serving Him is not “in vogue” in that environment. Then we can stand for him, even when that would mean we will stand alone. Then we can go to church but not just because the music is lit. Then we can follow Jesus and make a mark for Him here on earth.

Are you eating your vegetables?

Go into today asking the Lord for strength to grow into maturity so your acts of service and worship become independent of circumstances but are anchored on an accurate understanding, a true sense of purpose, and deep convictions.

Faith Toward God

Listen to the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2455

Hebrews 6:1 (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God

Clara was born again, but she lived in a society that was deeply humanistic. This society existed as if there was no God. God was not a factor in the governance or ideals of that society.

Clara did not know that society was trying to condition faith out of her heart. She felt she really did not need God in her daily life because "man can fix his own problems" ( forgetting that "there is more to life than food and raiment"). But because she was a believer who now had the understanding the Holy Spirit gives, she saw that in spite of how physically affluent her society was, there was deep moral and spiritual poverty. Most of the young people lived depressed, miserable lives, and suicide was a widespread practice in that society. She saw firsthand how foolish it was for a society to exist without the consciousness of God.

Faith towards God makes a believer live daily in the consciousness of God's commanding presence. This is the real reason why we don't continue in sin. The more conscious a believer is of God's presence, the more difficult it would be for him to sin.

After the faith that brought us under the Lordship of Christ and led to our repentance, it is important that we live our lives in the consciousness of the commanding presence of Almighty God. We should also live with the understanding that God is not just present but he is King and controller of all things. Nothing happens without His knowledge, and He causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose(see Romans 8:28). This is the reason why we are to do all things in the name of the Lord (Colossians 3:17).

Go into today remembering that faith in God means living your life with the consciousness of God's presence and sovereignty. Those who live and make their choices as if God does not exist do not have faith, no matter how religious they are.

Prayer: Lord, let every moment of my life be dominated by the consciousness of Your presence. Amen.

Repentance From Dead Works 3

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2454

Acts 19:18-20 (NET) Many of those who had believed came forward, confessing and making their deeds known. Large numbers of those who had practiced magic collected their books and burned them up in the presence of everyone. When the value of the books was added up, it was found to total fifty thousand silver coins. In this way the word of the Lord continued to grow in power and to prevail.

After Nosa accepted the Lord Jesus, he did proper sanitation of his phone and media devices. No one told him when he sat down for over an hour and deleted many of the videos and songs on his mobile devices that did not honor the Lord. He also publicly informed his friends on social media about his new status as a child of God. He did this because he wanted to identify with the Lord publicly and put his friends on notice. It worked. They gave him space and stopped attempting to lure him back to his old life. Nosa grew rapidly because of this (after he got rid of the doctrine and feeling of condemnation).

In today's Bible verses, we see a manifestation of repentance from dead works. Those who had previously practiced magic came forward and burned their books. They couldn't continue to possess those books while claiming to be believers in the Lord Jesus. The books were expensive, but their value didn't matter to those new believers. We see that the word of God grew mightily in their midst and prevailed as a result of this.

Many people don't reap the full benefits of God's word because they do not fully repent of dead works. They believe in Jesus but still want to hold onto the "benefits" of their past life. It doesn't work like that.

Go into today remembering that if a person truly believes, they would repent of their sins and forsake them. Lack of true repentance is a major reason the word of God does not have full course in the life of some believers. Remember that everything we receive from God is through His word.

Prayer: Lord, reveal to me every area of needed repentance so I may walk in the fulness of your will for me. Amen.

Lords and Tools?

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2770

1 Timothy 6:5 (NET) And constant bickering by people corrupted in their minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a way of making profit

Jesus was once teaching and then someone made a request to Jesus mid-teaching asking him to persuade his brother to divide their father’s inheritance with him. At face value, his request sounds okay and understandable. But Jesus clearly didn’t share that view as He asked him “Who appointed me a judge or arbitrator between you two?” and then he went on to speak to his audience, “watch out and guard yourself from all types of greed” (See Luke 12:1-15). It was on the occasion of this interaction and the strength of the warning he issued that Jesus went on to give the parable of the rich fool. A question goes begging for a response… what was wrong with the man’s request?

Firstly, what is covetousness and how serious a sin is it anyway? Covetousness is greed, and it is a manifestation of idolatry (in this case, the worship of money) (See Colossians 3:5), it is powered by Mammon, a force/spirit behind the love of money. Jesus, and indeed the apostles, gave grave warnings concerning this. Jesus taught that one spirit seeking to dominate man and exercise a counterfeit lordship over man as opposed to the His Lordship is Mammon. He declared, “You cannot serve God and Mammon” (See Matthew 6:24). But how is it so?

It is because money (possessions, pedigree, wealth, qualifications) is supposed to serve as a tool for a man who is submitted to the Lordship of Jesus. However, so pervasive and corrupting is the power of Mammon that when it has a grip over a heart, it exercises lordship and then God becomes a convenient tool in the hand of the Mammon-possessed man to further his ends. You will see this play out in the life of Balaam (2 Peter 2:15), Simon the Sorcerer (Acts 8:18-21), and such men as were described by today’s text.

You see, Jesus was a man of great wisdom and insight and he could perceive that this man making the request simply wanted to make Jesus an arbitrator to his benefit. He had prepared the job description of this role independent of Jesus and simply gave him a letter of appointment at the spot for his benefit. He is not alone in this attempt. Many have crowned Jesus protector but not Lord, provider but not Lord, matchmaker but not Lord, avenger but not Lord, even healer but not Lord. By this, it means that they see Jesus as a service provider, a trustworthy and good one, but He doesn’t call the shots in their life beyond the job description they have assigned him in their own minds.

Jesus is no for-hire service provider, He must be Lord or nothing. Men who live to satisfy their own desires and further their lot in life have crowned Mammon Lord and will seek every opportunity to add God as one of the most potent tools in their arsenal and this is a highway to destruction.

Take the warnings of Jesus to heart today. What is Jesus to you, tool or Lord?

Go into today performing a careful heart-check and ensure that: Jesus is Lord!

Repentance From Dead Works

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2452
Hebrews 6:1 (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God

Patrick was a believer in Christ Jesus but he still depended on his ability to please God as the basis for his righteousness. Whenever he missed the mark, he felt condemned and rejected. He felt he had lost his right standing with God and God didn't want to have anything to do with him.

Even though Patrick had repented of sinful works of the flesh, he had not fully repented of dead works because he still trusted in his performance as the basis for his right standing with God. When through a sermon, he discovered that his right standing with God was based solely on the person and sacrifice of Christ, he was free from the spirit of condemnation and could now have a smooth walk with the Lord.

There are two categories of [spiritual] works that men do. There are good works(Ephesians 2:10) and there are dead works(Hebrews 6:1). Good works are a product of the life of God within you. Only God is good(Luke 18:19) and good works can only be done by God and those who are born of God. Dead works are works that do not count before God. After the sacrifice of Jesus, the works of the law became dead works. The works of the flesh are also dead works because they are the product of the satanic nature that we acquired through the fall, and this nature produces death(Romans 8:13).

Many believers understand that the works of the flesh are dead works, but do not understand that the works of the law are also dead works. The works of the law were things that people did in order to obtain righteousness with God.

The ten commandments and the precepts of God cannot be categorized as the works of the law because they were not a means of gaining righteousness with God, they were a code of living for those who have gained righteousness with God through the works(sacrifices) of the law. That principle still applies today for those who have obtained righteousness with God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We are not without law but under the law of Christ (see 1 Corinthians 9:21).

Go into today remembering that now, apart from faith in Christ Jesus, anything a person does in order to earn the righteousness of God is nothing but dead works. Your right standing with God is primarily because of what Christ did for you and your faith in Him as the Lord.

Foundational Truths 1

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2451
Hebrews 6:1-2 (KJV) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Patrick had a very unstable spiritual life. One day he would be hot another day cold. He could not find a year in which his spiritual life was stable for up to six months. Because he was interested in serving the Lord and fulfilling purpose and divine destiny, he became really disturbed because despite all his efforts; fastings and tears, his spiritual life continued to be like a pendulum. Hot today, cold tomorrow.

Many believers are like Patrick and it isn't their fault. The problem is a faulty foundation. Just like with any building, the Foundation of your Christian doctrine will determine how stable your spiritual life will be. Our Lord Jesus likened those who built their lives according to His Word as a wise man who built his house on a sure foundation — the rock(see Matthew 7:24-27). Apostle Paul referred to the believers in Corinth as God's building(1 Corinthians 3:9). He also referred to himself as a wise master builder who laid the foundation(1 Corinthians 3:10). Apostle Paul understood that his specialty was to lay the foundation of Christian doctrine.

In today's scripture, we see the six components that form the foundation of Christian doctrine. If a believer is deficient in understanding these, he has a faulty foundation and might find cracks and instability in his building.

Repentance from dead works is a very important element of the Christian foundation. I have heard certain modern preachers teach that repentance doesn't have to do with one's conduct but just with a change of mind towards God. That's only half true. There is repentance towards God and, as we see in today's scripture, there's "repentance from dead works". If a person begins to believe in God but does not forsake his sinful ways, he has not truly believed.

Go into today remembering that if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? Many believers(who have been declared righteous because of faith in Christ) are struggling spiritually because of a faulty foundation.

Prayer: Lord, in this season, please do remedial work in the foundation of many. Amen.

The Spirit Filled Life

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2450
Philippians 4:8 (NET) Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.

After Olamide was filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, she felt so much joy and liberty in her heart that she determined to do everything it took to stay filled with the Holy Spirit at all times. She had read teachings about being filled with the spirit several times but she wanted a practical guide to actually walk in a spirit-filled life. She realized that what she allowed to dwell in her mind was key to controlling the mood of her heart. Today's Bible verse became a guide for her.

I have come to notice that a heavy and depressed countenance does not engender a spirit-filled life. If you put on the television or read the newspaper, you will notice that most of the news there will attempt to take away your joy and send you to a mood of depression or sadness. It is good to be informed by the news, but guard your heart and don't let it control your countenance.

If you ponder on the behavior of many people you have to deal with(even certain Christians), you would realize that being joyful does not come naturally. But we are instructed to "rejoice in the Lord always"(see Phil 4:4). The spirit-filled life is a joy-filled life (read Ephesians 5: 19-21). This is not because there are no sorrows in the world or things that can keep us depressed and moody, but because the presence of God the Holy Spirit within us is bigger than anything that is happening outside us. What we focus on will determine the outcomes of our lives.

Today's Bible verse instructs us on the things we should ponder upon. Do not let your mind dwell long on thoughts that do not inspire thanksgiving and praise. Discipline your mind to always find the good in every situation and dwell on it. Find a reason to give thanks in all things because this is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus.

Go into today remembering that the Spirit-filled life is a joy and thanksgiving-filled life. You cannot control the Holy Spirit but you control what your mind ponders on which in turn controls your mood and determines whether you will be Spirit-filled or not.

Prayer: Lord, help me lead a spirit-filled life, In Jesus' name. Amen.

Testing Prophecies

🔊Download Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/audio1902
1 Corinthians 14:3-4 (NET) But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouragement, and consolation.

Sandra started having a check in her spirit concerning a certain prophet when each time she listened to him, she felt weakened and discouraged in her spirit.

She became very sure that the prophet was a false prophet when she found out that her friend's sister was one of his secret lovers.

She started growing spiritually again when she stopped attending his meetings.

In today's Bible verse we see three of the attributes of true prophecy (and even preaching). It brings strengthening, encouragement, and consolation to God's people.

After listening to real prophecies, you don't leave there afraid, depressed, and discouraged unless you are an unrepentant sinner. Even when prophecies predict the coming of hard times and great persecution, etc., you would notice that those prophecies were given to strengthen and prepare God’s people for the impending, not to discourage and put fear in their hearts (see Acts 11:27-28).

The reason Jesus would tell His disciples that they would have tribulation in the world was because He wanted to encourage them and equip them for it. He wanted them to know that in spite of it all, He has overcome the world, so they should cheer up -- be of good cheer (see John 16:33). That's what prophecy does to believers, it ultimately encourages, strengthens, and/or consoles.

Go into today remembering that we have been told to test all spirits (1John 4:1). Whenever prophecies do not encourage believers but put fear and discouragement in their hearts, those prophecies should be quarantined.

When The Resurrection Comes

🔊Download Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/audio1894
1 Corinthians 13:12 (NET) For now we see in a mirror indirectly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known.

When Wole started reading his Bible and understanding it, he realized that there were many things he thought he understood that he didn’t understand. He realized that the best he could attain while in this body of flesh was but a foretaste. That the real manifestation of his glory was going to come with the resurrection that would happen when the Lord returns. He also started to understand that when the Lord returns in glory with His Saints, we would literally physically take over the governments and kingdoms of this world (see Revelation 11:15, Daniel 7:27).

He used to wish the Lord would delay his coming so he could accomplish some things, but after more understanding, he started praying daily that the Lord should hasten His coming.

When you see believers wishing in their hearts that the Lord's coming be delayed, you have seen believers with very little understanding of the kingdom of God and the hope of our calling. That’s a very dangerous place to be for a believer.

"The spirit and the bride (Church) say come". That is the yearning and one of the greatest desires of the true living church (see Revelation 22:17).

Go into today remembering that when the Lord appears, we shall be like Him and we shall rule and reign on the earth, and over all creation forever. The resurrection body we would receive is what would reveal our real nature as sons of God. This is when we shall see Him face to face and will know fully.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you understood the hope of His calling and see the exceeding riches of your inheritance in Him.

Little Foxes And Tender Grapes

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2769

Songs of Solomon 2:15 (KJV) Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

How can love so sweet ever taste so sour?

This was Casper’s thoughts as he pondered on the wreck his relationship with his wife had become. Nostalgia pierced his heart as with a thousand sharp needles as his mind went back to happier times. Times when the mere thought of Shandra was like the light and warmth of the sun to a dark room, times when the sight of her alone would lift his spirits, times when just a smile from her felt like therapy, soothing his aches and lessening the burden of the day. He'd text her constantly from work, telling her sweet little nothings, looking forward to clocking out so he could be with her again.

But all of these has changed, and he wondered why. If only he could take his mind back to his mother’s counsel and lingering concern before her passing. “Casper, you need to learn to make allowances for people’s faults and to stop counting and keep a long record of them. You hurt people who love you when you don’t let go of faults”. You see, Casper had stifled the life out of his loving relationship with his wife because that little habit of his had made his wife feel more and more inadequate and unloved.

It is most interesting that when the Bible spoke extensively about love in 1 Corinthians 13, it never talked about love notes and fun outings in exotic places with fancy dishes. Not that these are wrong, but that true love has roots, it is when these roots shoot downwards that its expressions thereof spring upwards. That is, a love that will stand the test of time and fire will possess and exhibit the characteristics of love as enumerated in 1 Corinthians 13.

How do you handle little character flaws especially when those with whom you share a relationship of love, honor or mutual respect bring it to your attention? Do you simply wave those concerns aside or you take actions? Little foxes can and do ruin to tender grapes. Watch out for their little signs and take steps to put them out.

Go into today with a commitment to grow in all things into loving maturity.

Pillars In God's Temple

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2768

Rev 3:12-13 (NET) The one who conquers I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never depart from it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from my God), and my new name as well. 13 The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Unlike walls or furniture, pillars are very important and more permanent structural elements in any building.

David said by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that “…and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever ” (see Psa 23:6). When the Lord says He will make those who conquer pillars in the temple of God, He is saying overcomers will never be removed from the presence of God for all eternity. Saints are not just called to be people who will dwell closely with God for part of eternity, but we will dwell in the house of the Lord for all eternity.

In heaven, dwelling in the presence of God is a very, very great honor, and it means power. Angels brag about this (see Luke 1:19). We who overcome are going to be pillars in the temple of God. This means we are not just going to be part of God’s presence, but we are going to be important parts of God’s temple. I am talking about the God who is the creator and Sustainer of the universe; the God whose power and glory cannot be comprehended by the human mind.

I don’t know what we ever did or could ever do to deserve this great honor and glory that God has destined for us. It is unmerited favor.

Go into today thanking the Father for the great love He has lavished upon you; that you should become a son of God (see 1 John 3:1).

Confession: I am an overcomer in Jesus Name. I will inherit everything God has prepared for me in Jesus name. Amen.

The Path to Promotion

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ https://bit.ly/aud2767

2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV)  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Funsho did not want to backside like the brethren he had heard about who were once on fire for Jesus on campus, but who were now adulterers and shameless sugar daddies.

As Funsho prayed and fasted to examine his life thoroughly in the presence of the Lord, the Lord revealed to him that he was not really a man of his word. He made promises that he wouldn't keep, and would sometimes say things that passed the wrong impression even though they were not outright lies. He repented of his dishonesty before the Lord and became very careful in that particular area. As a result of his repentance, he experienced promotion in his walk with the Lord. He no longer struggled to pray for as long as he knew he needed to. There were now several demonstrations of the manifest power of God in his life.

It is possible to be living like an unbeliever and still assume you are in the faith because you attend church services and speak "Christianise". But examining yourself regularly would help you know exactly the state of your heart; whether it is abiding in the Lord or it has strayed from Him. While we can be emotional and sentimental in our judgment of things, God is not a respecter of persons. He evaluates us by our fruits, and determines our promotion according to our level of faithfulness.

Go into today remembering to examine yourself in the Lord's presence from time to time. As soon as you observe any deviation or character floor, address it immediately and thoroughly. Remember that a stitch in time saves nine.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me regularly examine myself as I walk through this slippery worldly path. Please keep my feet from slipping and my heart from wandering.

The Superiority of Love

🔊Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud2766
1 Corinthians 13:8-9 (NIV)Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
Read 1 Cor 13:8-13

Of the three powerful spiritual virtues (faith, hope, and love), love is the greatest (see 1 Cor 13:13). It is the only reality in this side of eternity that did not come in part but came in full.

All the knowledge you can have now is in part. All the [prophetic] gifts you can have now is in part. But love is the only virtue that is not in part. When completeness comes through the resurrection, what is in part disappears, only what is whole will remain- love.

After the resurrection and we have been ushered into the fullness of our glory as sons of God, we would not need spiritual gifts because we would have unlimited spiritual bodies like that of Christ (Philippians 3:21, 1 Corinthians 16:44), and all acquired knowledge would be useless because we would share in God’s divine nature of omniscience (1 Cor 13:12). But we would still love each other and love our eternal Father.

Of all the powerful virtues we can have today, love is the only one that will endure for all eternity. Prophecies will cease, faith and hope would have been actualized, but love will remain.

Do you see how powerful love is? It is the only attribute we have that Satan cannot counterfeit. He doesn’t have the ability and power to love. Only those who are born of God have this ability (1 John 4:7).

Go into today thanking God for the privilege to walk in His divine nature of love. Thank Him for the power that walking in this nature releases into your life. Ask the lord to help you walk in love more than ever before.

Because You Have Kept My Admonition

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2443

Revelation 3:10 (NET) Because you have kept my admonition to endure steadfastly, I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

As Femi started to seek the Lord in prayer and fasting for the year, one of the first things he did was to ask the Lord what improvements he needed to make in his life to walk better in pleasing the Lord. He sensed the Lord leading him to be more committed to prayers this year. When he got to church in the evening, he received confirmation to that admonition. It was now clear to Femi that he needed to set aside some time every night to pray and spend time with the Lord henceforth.

In today’s Bible text, Jesus talked about an hour of testing. IN 1 Cor 7:26, Apostle Paul also made reference [by the spirit of prophecy] to an Impending crisis. History has it that around that period, Christians everywhere were persecuted by the very powerful Roman Empire which ruled the world. The Empire made it a duty to persecute and kill Christians everywhere, and they used their very vast resources to do this. But the Church in Philadelphia was going to be spared from this testing because they always kept the Lord’s admonition to them.

The Lord has the power to preserve His own from global or national occurrences that appear inescapable. When a person honors the Lord, the Lord honors him and would dedicate special resources for His peace and prosperity(see 1 Sam 2:30). The church at Philadelphia honored the Lord and Kept His admonition. Because of this, they were spared.

I do not know what admonition you have recently received from the Lord, but as you go into today, determine to keep the Lord’s admonition, and see His preserving grace and power multiply in every area of your life.

The Principle of Leaven

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2765

1 Corinthians 5:6 (KJV)Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

In the Corinthian church, there was a man who was living in such immorality that was not even permitted among unbelievers. His was cohabiting with his father’s wife and was still a member of the church. For some reason, it appeared that the church didn’t see anything wrong with his sinful conduct or they just chose to look the other way. After all, 'we are all under grace', some may have thought.

But Apostle Paul saw through all that and saw the ultimate scheme of Satan. He understood the principle of leaven, and how the iniquity a people condone will eventually erode their righteous convictions, and destroy them. He, therefore, instructed them to put the immoral man out of the church until he repents (see 1 Cor 5:1-7).

Believers live in great danger when they think they can condone erroneous doctrine and lifestyle, and still remain unscathed. They do not understand that evil communication corrupts (1 Cor 15:33), and Friendship with the world is enmity with God (James 4:4).
Many have walked out of the will of God for their lives because they failed to understand this principle.

Even the Apostles had to be categorically warned by the Lord to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and that of Herod (Mark 8:15). Their leaven (doctrine and lifestyle) had infiltrated and dominated society, and Jesus didn’t want that in His church.

God has set you apart (from the world) to make you a light in your generation. You are the salt of the earth. Believers lose their saltness when there is no more difference between them and the world.

Go into today remembering that evil communication will corrupt. Many children have been corrupted because of the kind of communication their parents allow through the movies they watch.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you not to lose your saltiness but fulfill your divine purpose on the earth.(read Matt 5:13)

Look! An Open Door

Download the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2441

Revelation 3:7-9 (NET) 7 "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write the following:
"This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the True One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open: 8 'I know your deeds. (Look! I have put in front of you an open door that no one can shut.) I know that you have little strength, but you have obeyed my word and have not denied my name.

Folakemi wanted an open door so much because she understood that an open door meant opportunities for greater blessings and promotions. She did not know that an open door was already set before her. Her problem was that she couldn’t see it. She was working in a place where she literally had to deal with thousands of campus students every week, and they all held her in very high esteem. When her eyes were opened, she now saw that her influence over the students was an opportunity for her to do what the Lord had been impressing on her heart for years.

It is worthy of note that Jesus told the saints in Philadelphia to ‘LOOK! I have put in front of you an open door’. One of the biggest problems hindering people from walking into open doors is that they have not seen the doors set before them by the Lord.

An open door represents every new great opportunity provided for you to make spiritual and physical increase. One very important thing about this is that you have to see it. Secondly, you have to understand that if a particular door has been opened for you by the Lord, no person or devil can close it. This is the confidence you need to walk into your open doors.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you see every open door set before you in this season of your life. Ask for wisdom to make the best use of every opportunity set before you.

Are You Too Difficult For God 2?

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2763

Psalm 34:18 (KJV) “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

God had revealed to his mum that he was the chosen one, although he had an older brother. Because he was very close to his mum, he was aware of the prophecy. Soon enough, he got the blessings of his father. How did that happened? He wasn't the first child, neither was he his father's delight. He got the blessings anyways, his father's wish inconsequential. Obviously, a hand stronger than his dad's wish was involved; God had chosen him. He walked around with angelic entourage, heard God's voice, saw angels and enjoyed the supernatural; seeing miracles that defied scientific explanation. Sadly though, he lived as a fugitive; banished from his father's house many years, cheated many times and was forced to marry a woman he didn't love. All the while, God was with him and the angelic entourage hadn't changed, but he suffered for twenty one years. This was the story of Jacob, the grandchild of Abraham, the friend of God.

What might be wrong? How can a man be so blessed by the Lord and yet suffer so much frustration? Your situation might be similar to Jacob's. You may have had beautiful visions, encounters and prophecies, yet your life has been opposite of the things you've seen that you're now left with the same question, “what might be wrong?".

Jacob was too difficult for God to handle, since he won't let God work out his will in him the easy way, he was taken through the furnace of affliction (see Isaiah 48:10). But the mild afflictions didn't work, at last, God himself had to wrestle with him, even at that, God couldn't win so he had to cripple him (Genesis 32:25-28).

If your story is similar to Jacob's, your freedom from affliction will come when you will willfully submit your ambitions to God.

Go into today knowing that “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18 KJV).

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I quit struggling with you. I yield myself to your will. Amen!

Are You Too Difficult For God 1?

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2762

Psalm 51:17 (KJV) “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."

When God wanted to teach Prophet Jeremiah a lesson about surrendering to his will, he said to him, "Go down to the shop where clay pots and jars are made. I will speak to you while you are there." (Jeremiah 18:2 NLT).

The Prophet responded as commanded and here is an account of his experience. “So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so the potter squashed the jar into a lump of clay and started again" (Jeremiah 18:3-4).

Right there while he watched, the Lord said, "O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand." Jeremiah 18:6).

If you replace Israel in verse 6 with your name, it will read thus “O Emmanuel (since my name is Emmanuel), can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you (Emmanuel) in my hand." Will you allow God do with you what he intends to do or are you going to refuse him?

In Matthew 23:37 (KJV), Jesus said, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!" Are you like Jerusalem which refused God's control over her? Repent! God will receive and use you.

Go into today knowing that it is not too late for you to submit yourself to God. If you do, he will make you.

Prayer: Repent of every stubbornness. Submit to God and ask the Lord to help you.

The Way To Kingdom Greatness 3

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2761

Luke 12:30-31 (KJV)For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I was recently in a church camp in Nigeria where I saw a number of people coming to pray in the day and at night. As I rejoiced before the Lord for such a place and the people who came seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting, the Lord pointed to me that many of them really didn't come to seek Him but to seek things through Him. The summary of most prayers was ‘more money Lord’ while it should have been ‘more of you Lord’.

If half of the people praying and fasting in Nigeria are actually seeking the Lord and His kingdom, the nation would have been much better and the people much more prosperous.
Those who seek the kingdom of God seek to please Him in all things; they bring their weaknesses before the Lord until they receive strength to be overcomers. They seek to always be filled with the Holy Spirit who administers the realities of God’s kingdom within us.

I have come to realize that God wants us to love Him. The first commandment is that we love the Lord our God with all our hearts (see Mat 23:37). Paul had very strong words for believers who do not love the Lord (see 1 Cor 16:22). He understood that believers who do not love the Lord can be Satan's biggest tools against the church.

God is our father and every father wants His children to love him. How would you feel if your children only made time to talk to you when they needed you to do something for them?

Those who walk in the Lord's great power and glory are those who seek the Lord and make time to commune with Him. They are those who are great in the kingdom of God.

Go into today remembering that those who truly seek the kingdom of God cannot lack any good thing (see Psalm 84:11). All the things they need will be added unto them (Luke 12:32).
Prayer: Lord, please help me seek your kingdom above all else.

Way to Kingdom Greatness 2

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2760

1 Corinthians 13:2 (NKJV) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

When Eze traveled to the village for the Christmas celebrations, he came in contact with some challenges that were orchestrated by demons. He tried to cast out the demons, but they seemed too strong for him to handle, and he started wondering why. When he reported the matter to his sister who was a more recent believer, she laughed over the problem and assured him that the matter was resolved. She simply prayed a simple prayer and commanded the demons to leave. The level of calmness and authority with which she commanded those demons showed that she knew what she was doing and already had great power with God. The matter was resolved instantly after Eze’s sister prayed with authority. This was how Eze knew that he did not have sufficient spiritual authority to handle certain matters because he was still a spiritual baby, even though he walked in spiritual gifts and had been a believer longer than his sister.

One thing Eze could say about his sister was that she was a very selfless believer whose love for the Lord [and the brethren] couldn’t be hidden. There was a time she turned down a very high-paying job because she was convinced it would hinder her from serving the Lord the way she should. Eze knew he couldn’t do what she did, but he also knew things like that were why she had more esteem and authority in heaven than him.

The path of spiritual maturity and authority is the path of love and selflessness. Just like physically speaking, a young child in the family does not have as much authority over the family estate as when he becomes mature, a spiritual babe does not walk in the level of authority he would walk in when he becomes spiritually mature.

Love is the fruit that God expects to see us produce because of His divine life within us. It is abnormal for those who have been born of God to not be fruitful, but it can happen if they allow themselves to be conformed to the standards of this loveless world.

Go into today remembering that a man who allows himself to be transformed by the renewing of his mind through the understanding of God's Word is a man who would walk in the divine nature of love and wield great spiritual authority.

Prayer: ask the Lord to help you walk in the fullness of your authority in Him.

1 Corinthians 13:2 (NKJV)And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

Even though Eze had great spiritual gifts and could prophesy very accurately, certain events unfolded that revealed to Him that he was not yet a man of great esteem and authority in heaven. It became clear to him that as far as heaven was concerned, he was nothing: still a [spiritual] baby with little authority.

This troubled him greatly because he had been a believer for many years.

In the kingdom of God, it is possible for someone to be great and highly esteemed, and it is possible for someone to be nothing (still of little esteem), as apostle Paul points out in today's Bible verse.

Daniel was a man of great esteem in heaven. An angel appeared to Him and said this:

Daniel 10:11(NIV)... "Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you…

A man who is something in the kingdom of Heaven is a prince who has great authority. He is a man who can move the hand of heaven and speak to the ear of God. That is God's will for all His children, but the way to this level of eternal kingdom greatness and relevance is the way of love.

Daniel prayed and fasted for many days because of His love for God's people, not because of a personal need. No matter the spiritual gifts a person walks in, if he doesn't walk in love, he is nothing in the kingdom of God.

Go into today determined to be a person of great value in God's kingdom. Remember that the key to this is walking in love.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from all worldliness that makes it difficult for you to walk in Love.—Abraham Damilola Arigi

Worthy To Walk With The Lord

🔊Get the Audio Version Here: http://bit.ly/aud2435

Revelation 3:4 [NET] But you have a few individuals in Sardis who have not stained their clothes, and they will walk with me dressed in white, because they are worthy.

When Joyce first believed, she was not a very honest person, and her words meant nothing to her. She didn’t know this was wrong, but as she grew in her walk with God, she noticed that the Lord kept revealing things in her life that were not in alignment with His righteousness. Each time this happened, she would repent, and grow in her knowledge of God and His grace (power).

We can learn from today’s Bible text that it is only those whose garments are unstained that can walk [in fellowship] with the Lord.

When a Christian walks in sin, His [spiritual] clothes are stained [by it], and he is unable to fellowship with God appropriately and walk in his spiritual authority accordingly. This cannot happen to Christians who are already walking in the light by walking in constant fellowship with God who is the light (See 1 John 1:5). Because they are walking in the light, and sin is darkness, they do not walk in sin. This does not mean they cannot be tempted and sometimes fall, but it means they cannot take their place in sin.

There are weaknesses that hinder believers from closer fellowship with God, yet these sins may be unknown to them. But as they walk in the light, the light continually reveals every darkness in them and the blood of Jesus cleanses them from it as they acknowledge (confess) it and repent (see 1 John 1:7,9). When this happens, they further advance in their knowledge (closer fellowship) of God and grow in grace and spiritual might. This is something that happens over time.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you grow in the knowledge of Him.

Being sure

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2758

2 Peter 1:10 (NET) Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.

Funsho observed the rate at which ministers of the gospel were stumbling and becoming slaves of mammon. Because of this, he entered into a season of waiting on the Lord because he wanted the Lord to show him the secret of not stumbling. It was as he was meditating on the word that the Holy Spirit reminded him of today's Bible verse.

Today's Bible verse admonishes us to make every effort to be sure of our calling and election. This happens in the place of examining ourselves regularly to be sure we are still in the faith (see 2 Corinthians 13:5).

You can ask yourself these questions regularly as you examine yourself in the Lord's presence:
Do I love the Lord more today than when I first believed? Have I stopped doing my first works that demonstrated love for the Lord(eg evangelism)?
Do I pray more today or less than before? Do I spend time on the word more today than before?
Do I still love the brethren or has my love waxed cold over time?
Am I still fulfilling God's unique call for my life?
Am I still growing in my knowledge of the Lord or have I become complacent?

These are some of the simple questions that answering would help us know if we are still on the straight and narrow path that leads to life.

Go into today remembering to regularly check your heart to be sure its affection is still on Christ and Christ alone. Make every effort to be sure of your calling and election.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me remain in you and never stumble out of the way. Give me the wisdom to examine myself regularly in your presence. Amen.

Pursue Love

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2757

1 Corinthians 14:1 (NET) Pursue love and be eager for the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

One of the things Mayowa learned through his involvement in honey farming was that even though honey is free, it does not come cheap.

Many good things in this life that do not just bloom naturally, you have to pursue them.

Love and spiritual gifts are in that category. Inasmuch as love for us is the fruit of the spirit, if we are not deliberate about walking in love, we would find that we won't walk in love because most people do not behave in ways that inspire love.

Also, in order for us to walk in our spiritual gifts, we need to be eager for them. We need to desire them and fan them to flame. We need [to learn] to celebrate [and commune with] the Holy Spirit who empowers us to walk in them.

Go into today remembering that even though your spiritual gifts and the ability to walk in love have been freely given to you, you would have to pursue love and be eager for spiritual gifts. When your life produces the fruit of sincere love, you will find that all the other attributes of God's divine nature (of power and wisdom) will easily find expression in your life.

Prayer: Today, I will be deliberate and intentional about walking in love. I will manifest the divine nature and bring my heavenly Father glory. In Jesus Name.

You Have Authority In Christ

🔊Get the Audio Version Here☞ http://bit.ly/aud2756
1 Cor 6:3 (KJV) Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

There was a video that went viral on Facebook. In that video, a very fat cat was trying to catch an angry rat, and instead of the cat pursuing the rat, it was the rat that now turned and was pursuing the cat. The rat pursued the cat to the extent that the cat would cry out each time the rat made contact with it. It was unbelievable.

Many Christians have been defeated in life not because they do not have what it takes to be overcomers, but because they have failed to realize that they have what it takes. They have forgotten how powerful they really are in Christ, and cower in the face of the smallest situation that confronts them, instead of standing firm on the word of God that cannot fail.

If you are in Christ, you are naturally an overcomer. No demon should be able to stand you because you are seated in heaven far above them and have all authority over them because you are in Christ(see Eph 2:6). But devils are very daring; they will try their luck every now and then and hope you forget who you are and start reacting in fear.

There is nothing that kills boldness like sin consciousness. There is nothing that boosts boldness like righteousness consciousness (see Prov 28:1). I believe one reason the Holy Spirit brings boldness is that He gives us assurance of our righteousness with God.

Go into today determined to walk in the Spirit. This also means you will dominate your heart with the consciousness of the righteousness you have with God through the sacrifice of Christ.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you always walk in your Spiritual authority and power.
