Deuteronomy 33:27 (NLT)
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, 'Destroy them!'

There is a way most people feel when they have lots of money in the bank. This feeling is because money has the ability of being a refuge, and many people trust in it.

For the man that has made God his refuge, his feeling of security in Life comes from his knowledge of God. Such a person understands that underneath are the everlasting arms of God.

Every human being in this world needs some form of refuge in life. Some trust in chariots and horses. This means they trust in systems that they have put in place. They derive their feeling of security from the money that they have, and elaborate security arrangements. But those who trust in the Lord know better. They understand that anything that is not everlasting does not have the capacity to be a reliable refuge for man. They have made God their refuge, and they will never be put to shame.

Go into today thanking God because He is a refuge. Determine today to let your feeling of security be rooted in the integrity of God. This produces the faith required to download the resources of heaven.

Prayer: thank you father for being my refuge. I ask that you help me never waver in trusting you. Amen.

Deuteronomy 33:27 (NLT)
The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you. He drives out the enemy before you; he cries out, 'Destroy them!'

Sade had certain enemies in her neighborhood and she knew this. She was aware that they were willing to do everything within their power to destroy her.

There was a particular day that one of them buried a ram in the neighborhood to make incantations against her. She was aware of all these, but she never forgot that the eternal God is her refuge.

She understood that the real enmity against her was spiritual. Principalities and powers were only using those neighbors to try and get her (see Eph 6:12). So she did not focus her prayer on destroying her neighbors, but she focused her prayers against the evil spirits using them. This wisdom made her prayers infinitely more powerful. The Lord kept blessing her in the presence of her enemies. It became clear to her that her enemies were being destroyed.

Many times, believers fear because they forget that the eternal God is their refuge. They give in to the threats of their enemies and act according to fear not faith.

Fear is a terrible spiritual force that leaves people exposed. It attempts to disengage your shield of faith because it works against faith.

Go into today remembering that the Eternal God is your refuge. His everlasting arms are under you and He drives out your enemies before you.

Prayer: thank you Lord for showing me through your word who my real enemies are; they are principalities and powers (Eph 6:12). I receive the grace to totally destroy them from before me in Jesus name. Amen.

Psalms 50:23 (KJV)
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

(Sam said this in tears to his pastor): My life has been so terrible; I can’t even get a job or get married. I have prayed and fastest, visited prayer mountains, and have sown so many seeds, yet, nothing has changed. It does not look like I am loved by God at all, my case seems different. Did God not say he knows my need? So, why is nothing working? Nothing is working!

Sam’s burdens were too heavy for him to bear, the more he tried to get them off, the heavier they become, so he complained. But the more he complained, the more things grew worse. The change began when he realized he had not ordered his conversations right.

Offering praise glorifies God, and helps you order your conversation right. Do not complain; instead offer praise. Do not murmur; offer praise instead.
Psalms 50:23 (NLT):“But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God”

When you praise in spite of challenges, you truly honor God and He reveals the way out of the challenge(s). This is what is referred to in today’s text as “the salvation of God”.

Go into today knowing that the solution to your challenges is in the revelation of a truth from God. Praise makes this happen faster.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you order your conversations aright and be clothed with a germent of praise and not a spirit of heaviness.

Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

I was going home after we closed from work and our Manager asked me to look at the bridge close to us and said one striking thing to me 'if you come to this place at night, you would see how people are striving for sleeping space under this bridge'.

I paused and said to myself "I have not been thankful enough for the roof over my head" and truly I am not better than those people.

Brethren, your glory is a product of God's destiny upon you. Why act as if you orchestrated everything going on in your life today? Did you have any control over the fact that you were not born with borderline IQ?

The Lord told Jeremiah that before he was conceived in his mother's womb, he was already ordained a Prophet to the NATIONS.

1 Corinthians 4:7 says:
For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

I feel strong in my Spirit that somebody reading this devotional has been proud and arrogant and has raised questions with respect to his possessions, but God is liberating you. God is tearing down your haughty looks and He is replacing them with a garment of praise and thanksgiving. Receive it in Jesus name.

Brethren, our education and the special understanding we have towards our respective careers were given to us. If you are doing well as a doctor, it is simply because God said so before you were conceived.

Go into today with an attitude of thanksgiving. God is worthy of your praise.

Matthew 7:22-23 (KJV)
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Biola's new posting in the Church's logistics department made her to now work closely with the pastor. She immediately observed that he was not a person of integrity nor was he a man that feared the Lord. He was controlled by the love of money and was also a womanizer. He had made advances at her twice already. She was really confused because this pastor preached fire and brimstone, and many miracles happened in his ministry. She couldn’t relate the man she now knew with the man she always thought he was (a man of God).

The fact that a person works miracles and preaches powerfully does not mean he has been known by the Lord. The most common way people (including unconverted followers) receive spiritual gifts is through impartation and laying on of hands. That was why Apostle Paul instructed Timothy not to hastily lay hands on anyone (see 1 Tim 5:22).

It is only those who hear the voice of the Lord and FOLLOW Him that are known by Him. They are the ones He calls His sheep (the others are the goats), and they are the ones He KNOWS (see John 10:27). These don’t just call Him Lord, but they do His will (see Matt 7:21). He calls the shots in their lives and they live under His authority and in obedience to His voice. They are known by their fruits (see Matt 7:20).

Go into today knowing that those who are known by the Lord are those who listen to Him and Follow Him. They are the yielded sheep, not the stubborn goats.

John 7:38 (NKJV)
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

One reason many believers are not flowing with the living water is not because they do not have the potential to flood their world with living water, but because they do not let the rivers flow.

This living water in your heart flows out through various mediums.

Yesterday, we saw that Nnamdi let living water flow out by laying his hand on a sick child and transmitting the life of God to her. His hands transmitted the living water. His mouth was also involved when he spoke in tongues.

One very effective way of letting the living water in your heart flow out is by using your mouth appropriately. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (see Luke 6:45). The words you say and the confessions you make are very powerful in controlling the flow of the water of life.

One of the easiest ways to activate the flow of life is by speaking the right words. You need to continually confess the word of God over your life and let it steer your life according to God's will.

Notice that in today's verse, the Lord says RIVERS of living WATER shall flow out of your heart. It is one source and one water, but it flows out through various RIVERS, not through One RIVER. This means the life of God within us will have many ways through which it is expressed outwardly. Chief among them is the instrument of the tongue.

Go into today remembering to let the many rivers of living water flow out through you.

Proverbs 10:11: The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life...
Confession: My mouth is a fountain of Life in Jesus name. Amen.

John 7:38 (NKJV)
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

After Nnamdi became a believer in Christ Jesus, he heard a sermon on the Bible verse above and believed it. He understood that rivers of living water meant that life would flow through Him because water signifies life.

He got back to his compound that evening and saw people in panic. One of his neighbor's little daughter who was very sickly now had a convulsion that lasted much longer than normal. People started thinking she would die because her body was now getting cold. Her parents were trying to take her back to the hospital.

Nnamdi now knew that he had the life of God flowing through Him. He said 'rivers of living water cannot be flowing through me and my neighbor's child will die'. He went into his neighbor's house with that consciousness, laid his hand on the dying child and commanded her to come back. After speaking in tongues for a few minutes, the dying child opened her eyes and sneezed. She was healed from that moment. Many in the compound believed because of this miracle.

Nnamdi didn’t only believe that the rivers of living water could flow through him, he allowed this water flow. Many believers have the power of God to do great things but do not put this power to use because of fear and unbelief.

Go into today remembering that if you believe in Jesus, rivers of living water will flow through you. Expect to walk in this reality from today. Jesus' words are always true.

Prayer: Lord, help me to let these rivers flow. Amen.

James 5:14-15
Is anyone among you sick? LET HIM CALL FOR THE ELDERS OF THE CHURCH, and let them PRAY OVER HIM, anointing him with oil IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.
And the prayer of faith WILL SAVE THE SICK, AND THE LORD WILL RAISE HIM UP. AND IF HE HAS COMMITTED SINS, HE WILL BE FORGIVEN.

.
Who should he call for? The elders
But who will raise Him up? THE LORD will
Who then forgives His sins, if he has committed any? The elders or the Lord?

The elders in the presence of the Lord, and the Lord in the presence of His church.

And what is the conclusion?

James 5:16
CONFESS your trespasses TO ONE ANOTHER, AND PRAY for one another, THAT YOU MAY BE HEALED. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

So it is a lie to say 1 John 1:9 is the only place in Scripture that says believers should confess their sins, and so it cannot therefore refer to Christians, so that such gainsayers alter what is written there, to align with their libertarian suppositions.

It is not only a LIE(1 John 1:6), it is to call God a liar( 1 John 1:10) It is complete poverty of truth (1 John 1:8)

Dear BELIEVER in CHRIST Jesus: concerning the matter of living before God with a clear conscience; a conscience free of wrong; Concerning the matter of walking in the light where all things are exposed and nothing is hidden; be a child of God and confess your wrongdoing.

Don't let it get to the point where you refuse to hear the Lord, refuse to hear the brothers and sisters, refuse to hear the elders, refuse to hear the church, and then end up a cast away.

LET'S SEE a PRACTICAL EXAMPLE of the church exercising this authority ON THE LORD'S BEHALF and IN HIS PRESENCE.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5
It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife!
For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed.
IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, when you are GATHERED TOGETHER, along with my spirit, WITH THE POWER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,
DELIVER SUCH a one TO SATAN FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF THE FLESH, THAT HIS SPIRIT MAY BE SAVED in the day of the Lord Jesus.

This was an UNREPENTANT brother who was SINNING OPENLY without inhibition.

PAUL passed judgment on his sins IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. He wasn't told he had been forgiven because he was a believer. No. HE WAS HANDED OVER TO SATAN as a PUNISHMENT for his sinning.

His sins were RETAINED.

Now, that he was punished and not forgiven, it is evident in the second letter to this church, where the matter was again addressed..

2 Corinthians 2:6,8
This PUNISHMENT which was inflicted by the majority is sufficient for such a man,
Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love to him.

2 Corinthians 2:10
NOW WHOM YOU FORGIVE ANYTHING, I ALSO FORGIVE. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I HAVE FORGIVEN that one for your sakes IN THE PRESENCE OF CHRIST

Now, WHEN THE BROTHER REPENTED, Paul said the PUNISHMENT was enough, and that the fellow should be forgiven by the church, and that would equate to his forgiving him in the presence of Christ, and therefore God's forgiveness.

NOTE THAT both the passing of judgment and the forgiveness of sin was done by the apostle and church fully representing Jesus Christ, in His name, and in His presence.

That's delegated and representative authority through the church.
To be continued.

1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This Bible verse has met with a lot of denial amongst certain who want to be able to go on sinning without inhibition, for there is no other reason why anyone will deny this simple and lucid passage.

One of the elements of denial is that THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE where believers are told to confess their sins.

That is a falsehood.

James 5:16 CATEGORICALLY states that we should confess our trespasses to one another.

Now some say that it is not the same thing as confessing one's sins before GOD.

Well, IT IS!

How so?

1. While Jesus walked the earth, the power of God to forgive sins was exercised by the Father through the Son.

Mark 2:10
But THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT THE SON OF MAN HAS POWER ON EARTH TO FORGIVE SINS"--He said to the paralytic.

2. Now, this POWER was DELEGATED to the CHURCH by the Lord Jesus.

John 20:21
So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! AS THE FATHER HAS SENT ME, I ALSO SEND YOU."

John 20:23
IF YOU FORGIVE THE SINS OF ANY, THEY ARE FORGIVEN THEM; IF YOU RETAIN THE SINS OF ANY, THEY ARE RETAINED."

This means that an erring brother in the church, who is living in sin or has committed a known sin, can be unrepentant and forfeit God's forgiveness or can be repentant and receive God's forgiveness.

Again, let's see how Christ delegates this authorit.

Matthew 18:15
Moreover, IF YOUR BROTHER SINS against you, go and TELL HIM HIS FAULT BETWEEN YOU AND HIM alone. IF HE HEARS YOU, you have gained your brother.
But IF HE WILL NOT HEAR, take with you one or two more, that 'by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.'
And IF HE REFUSES TO HEAR THEM, tell it to the CHURCH. But IF HE REFUSES EVEN TO HEAR THE CHURCH, let him be to you like a HEATHEN and a TAX COLLECTOR.
ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU, WHATEVER YOU BIND on earth will be bound in heaven, and WHATEVER YOU LOOSE on earth will be loosed in heaven.
To be continued.

John 14:13-14 (NKJV)
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

1 John 5:14 (NET)
And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Indeed, when you obey the commands of the Lord, it is proof that you believe and abide in Him, and whatsoever you ask in His name will be done for you (see John 15:7). Note that 'whatsoever' lies only within the context of God's will.

In John 14:13-14, Jesus was talking to His disciples and to believers. His disciples are those who abide in Him. They naturally walk in His will and ask according to His will.

There is the temptation for those who have received grace to walk in His righteousness to begin to trust in their fruits [of righteousness] as the reason they should receive from the Lord. This is a temptation that we must always resist whenever we come requesting anything from the Lord. We must always remember that the reason we receive from the Lord is because of His goodness and stature, not because of our works.

Go into today knowing that the way to pray in the name of Jesus is by praying with the understanding that our prayers will be answered because of Christ Jesus, not because of our works.

John 14:13-14 (NKJV)
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

A young lady's prayer went thus:

Lord, you know I am faithful in my tithes and offerings. You know I also give to the needy and I do not withhold what I have from the poor. Please provide for me this need and prove that you are a faithful God.

Somewhere in that same city, another young lady prayed thus:

Father, I ask that you provide this need for me. I ask not because I believe I deserve anything from you, but because I believe Christ has paid the price for me to receive from you.

The second lady got her answer because she asked in the Name of the Lord.

Even though the first lady ended her prayers by saying the words 'in Jesus name', she wasn’t really asking in the name of the Lord. The reason she believed God should answer her was because of her good works.

Good works are indeed powerful in the realm of the spirit and have been the reason for the visitation of God upon many people. Cornelius attracted heaven's attention and the angel of God visited him because of his good works (see Acts 10:1-4). Your good works are powerful but they are not as powerful as your faith in Christ Jesus.

Go into today remembering to present the superior currency when making heavenly transactions. Faith in Christ is always superior.

Ask the Lord to help you always pray in His name.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NET)
For God did not give us a Spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control.

After Kemi became baptized in the Holy Spirit, she realized that she was no longer weak. This happened because she was properly taught to live a life controlled by the Holy Spirit.

She lived her life in the consciousness of the Holy Spirit's presence within her. She lived in constant communion with the Lord through the Holy Spirit. Because of this, she observed that she was no longer a fearful person, but now a fearless and self-controlled person.

Peter was a very fearful person before he became baptized in the Holy Ghost. But after he was baptized, he became fearless and would publicly preach in the same Jerusalem, where he was afraid to identify with Jesus, and denied Him before a young lady (see Luke 22:54-62).

When the Holy Spirit fills a person, he changes the person. When believers are taught to walk in the Spirit after receiving the Holy Ghost, their lives are miraculously transformed. Even Drug addictions vanish by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has the ability to affect even our mortal bodies (see Rom 8:11).

As we consciously commune with the Lord through the Holy Spirit by talking with Him and praying in the Spirit, we are being transformed into His image and this removes our fearfulness and weakness.

Go into today knowing that the only way you can live the life God called you to live on this earth is through your communion with the Holy Spirit. Remember that it is only a meek heart that can walk in the Spirit.

PRAYER: Ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Uche was a very fearful person and he knew this. Somehow he knew that this fearfulness of heart was greatly limiting him in life. One day he read the Bible verse above and realized that he could walk above fear through the power of the Holy Spirit within him (Rom 8:13). He realized that fear was a work of the flesh and not a fruit of the Spirit, and he started resisting fear in his life by confessing the word of God and determining never again to act according to fear.

Fear is not a virtue but a vice. It should be fought with all diligence. Whenever a believer observes that he is becoming fearful, he should fight it and ensure that he overcomes it by the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember that we wrestle through prayers (see Eph 6:12, 18).

A fearful person cannot truly consistently walk in love, power and sound mind. A fearful person will easily become suspicious, and a suspicious person cannot be a loving person. Remember that Perfect love drives away fear (1 John 4:18).

A fearful person will not be able to walk in God’s great power because fear inhibits faith. Fear limits spiritual capacity and power. Satan used fear to root unbelief and hinder the people of Israel from entering the Promised Land and receiving their inheritance.

A fearful person cannot have a sound mind because his judgments and vision in life will be distorted by fear.

Go into today knowing that through the power of the Holy Spirit, you have power over fear. Do not let it rear its ugly head in your life.

Confession: I walk above fear in Jesus name. Amen.

1 John 5:14 (NET)
And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

When Amara realized that the Holy Spirit helps us to pray according to God’s will when we pray in tongues, she was now interested in praying in the Spirit. She did not want to be left out of the fullness of God’s bounties.

She now observed that whenever she prayed about an issue and prayed in the spirit while praying about it, she got feedback and answers faster. Sometimes she would just know that the answer to the prayer will not come immediately, and sometimes she would know that the answer to the prayer will come instantly. She also now knew if she had prayed through concerning an issue, or if she still needed to pray and seek the Lord concerning it. Sometimes, while praying in the Spirit and praying with her understanding about a matter, she would receive insight and clarity and wisdom, and would know exactly what to do. All these never happened before when she only prayed with her understanding.

The most effective way to pray is to pray according to the will of the Lord. The most effective way to do this is by praying in the Spirit.

Go into today knowing that the Holy Spirit is received by faith. Praying in the Spirit is an act of Faith, and it pleases God because it is an act of faith (see Heb 11:6).
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you pray more in the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:14-15 (NET)
If I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive.
What should I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing praises with my spirit, but I will also sing praises with my mind.

The first time I realized that I could pray with my understanding while praying in the spirit, it revolutionized my prayer life.

When you pray in tongues, your spirit is praying, but your mind is usually not involved and it is even possible for your mind to wander away while you are praying in tongues. One wise thing to do while praying in tongues is to also engage your mind in praying and communing with God. Get your mind involved in praying while you are praying in tongues.

It is possible to pray all your prayers in tongues, but it is wise to also pray with your understanding as well. The Lord Jesus also taught us to pray with our understanding when He taught us to pray in the prayer popularly called ‘the Lord’s Prayer’.

Go into today remembering that prayer is as important to your spirit as breathing is to your body. Just like you breathe without ceasing, you are to pray without ceasing. Don’t forget that Praying in the Spirit is a necessity for the believer, it produces spiritual power and might. We have been instructed by God to do so (see Jude 1:20, Eph 6:18).
Prayer: Lord, help me pray without ceasing.

1 Corinthians 14:14 (NET)
If I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive.

Amara refused to pray in tongues because she was wrongly taught that whenever she prayed in tongues, she had to interpret it or get someone to interpret it. She was also not comfortable with the fact that she did not understand what she was saying whenever she prayed in tongues. Her spiritual life was pegged because she never prayed in the Spirit (see Jude 1:20, Eph 6:18).

Whenever a believer prays in tongues, he is praying in the spirit because his spirit prays (see 1 Cor 14:14).

It is through prayer that we provide the license for angels to operate in our realm. There are things God would want to do for people, but he would need them to pray first (see Eze 22:30). When believers pray in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit uses their spirits to pray the prayers that God needs them to pray in order to help them in ways they do not even know they need help. The Holy Spirit also helps us to pray as we ought to pray when we pray in the Spirit. Prayer that is not factored on God’s will is not effective. The Holy Spirit helps us in this regard when we pray in the Spirit (see Rom 8:26).

When you deliver a message in tongues to people, it must be interpreted or the message will be useless to them. This is different from when you pray to God in tongues.

Go into today knowing that when you pray to God in tongues, you do not need to interpret it because God understands all languages, including groanings of the Spirit, expressed through words that come out of your mouth when you pray in the Spirit.

Prayer: Lord, help me pray more in the Spirit and built up myself (Jude:20)

Genesis 3:5
For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be LIKE God, knowing good and evil.

In the beginning, man fell. He fell short of the glory of God. Man in his original element is God's representative on earth. That is his glory; that he is God's extension for earth.

NEW CREATION teaches that God became a man to restore man; that is, to make man, man. Man is a very high honor. AFTER GOD, there is no higher honor in the universe. God has made it so.

NEW AGE, on the other hand, will not rest until man is God.

It is the pristine lie and the original deception

Beware of all those teachings that shout that God's throne is for man. There's a Man sitting on God's throne etc. It's new Age adorned with scriptures plucked from the roots and twice dead.

New Creation has nothing to do with making man God. Man being God's sons and daughters, representatives who share in His glory, bask in His love, and bear His rule. Yes. But never God.

For man was made not just to REPRESENT but to WORSHIP the Lord, the Almighty

The word is New "CREATION". God will never be creation. He is the Creator, the Orchestrator, the Source, the One and Only God.

Man is His Creation, Representative, made in His image and likeness.

Let the mind that was and is in Christ Jesus guide you. He is God become man for our sakes, and see the attitude of the only one qualified to be God.

John 5:30
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

God's work in redemption and new creation is to extend again His life and rule through a family of sons, kingdom of priests, and a temple of worshippers.

1 Peter 2:5 (KJV)
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

In the old covenant, the temple was built as a place where sacrifices were to be offered to God. It was to be the place where God dwelt. It was Holy.

Today, we are the temple of God (1 Cor 3:16). The church is His temple and His embassy on the earth. He dwells in us individually and dwells [mightily] in us corporately (see Zephaniah 3:17, Matthew 18:20).

Think about it this way: every stick of wood in a camp fire has its own individual fire. But all of them together would produce a great fire that will light up the environment and drive away the wild animals.
When the church in a territory is united, we produce territorial illumination and push away the darkness and demons from that territory.

Whenever one stick of wood is separated from the burning bunch for too long, it begins to die out. But if the stick of wood is added back to the burning bunch, it regains its fire again.

As believers worship God together and fellowship with His word, we fan our corporate flame and become more effectual corporately and individually. Our fire burns bigger and our lights shine brighter.

As you go to church today, remember that by worshiping God with your brethren, it is an opportunity for you to recharge your spirit with the fire of the Holy Ghost. Let this be your expectation, for the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off (Prov 23:18).

Prayer: Ask the Lord help you ever burn for him and bring glory to his name. (Read Matthew 5:16).

Ephesians 5:18,21 (KJV)
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Before Efe became born again, he was a very stubborn person. He would only do what he wanted to do and could not be convinced to do anything he did not first conceive. He believed that he was always right; and it was very hard for him to receive and accept counsel. Because of this trait, he got himself into unnecessary complications in life. Many problems would have been avoided if only he would take counsel.

When he received Christ and became born again, it was difficult for him to submit to anybody. But he did not know that because of this trait it was also difficult for him to submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit within him. He found out that this trait in his heart was the reason he couldn’t walk in his high places as ordained by the Lord.

Many have the Holy Spirit, but many are not filled.
In being filled with the Holy Spirit, you must be submitted to the Lordship of Christ through the Holy Spirit. Moses had so much power with God because he was the meekest man in the whole world (see Num 12:13). You cannot excel in your walk with God if you are not meek in your heart. For God resists the proud (James 4:6, 1 Pet 5:5).

If you cannot love your brethren whom you can see, how will you love God? In the same way, if you cannot submit to your brethren, you will not submit to Christ.

Go into today remembering that among the many other things we do and become filled with the Holy Spirit, submitting to one another is very important. A heart that cannot submit to constituted human authority will not submit to the authority of Christ, and such a person will not be filled with the Spirit.

Ask the Lord help you have a meek heart (see Matt 11:29, Phil 2:5).

Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The prince of this world is the devil. He is the one in this world and he has a lot of experience (see 1 John 4:4). By human strength shall no man prevail against him. The reason why those born of God will overcome him is because the Holy Spirit that dwells within them is greater than the devil. The Spirit that dwells in the believer is so much greater than the devil. He was the one who created the devil and He is infinitely more powerful than the devil.

The devil knows that as long as a believer is filled with the Holy Spirit and walks in the Spirit, he doesn’t stand a chance against that believer. He will do everything possible to deceive the believer and distract him from the place of fellowship and communion with the Holy Spirit. He will do everything to cause the believer to break fellowship with the Spirit since he cannot do ANYTHING to cause the Holy Spirit to break fellowship with the believer.

We can see from today's Bible text that Thanksgiving produces a Spirit filled life (read from verse 18). An unthankful heart cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit because such a heart is not walking in the will of God. Thanksgiving in all things is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus (see 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

If the devil can get you to focus more on your challenges and become unthankful in your heart, he has succeeded in hindering you from being filled with the Spirit.

Go into today remembering to count your blessings and focus on the good in your life. You can begin by thanking the Lord for forgiving your sins (see Psalm 103:1). You could never have been able to pay for them.
Ask the Lord to help you to be thankful in all things.

Ephesians 5:18-19 (KJV)
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Femi keenly observed that whenever he was in the Spirit, there was usually a song in his heart. He also observed that whenever he wanted to stay filled, the easiest way was to continue to sing it.

There was a particular morning he woke up with a song, and he decided to sing that song all day. He later discovered that the song was a weapon for warfare. His spirit drew strength and was filled with the Holy Spirit as he continued to sing that song. The strange situations and temptations he faced at work that day did not break him. He overcame by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Notice in today's Bible verse that in being filled with the Spirit, we are to speak to ourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. We are to sing and make melody in our hearts to the Lord.

When a song comes to your Spirit, do not ignore it; sing it and let the Spirit flow. As you let this happen and you are filled with the Spirit, there is nothing you will not be able to overcome because through the Holy Spirit, we overcome the world (see 1 John 4:4). The reason why you can overcome the [dark forces of this] world is because the Holy Spirit that dwells in you is greater than them. This means you have to let Him fill and control you.

Go into today remembering that the praises of the Lord in your mouth sets you up for victory in warfare. Psalm 149:6: Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand.

Ephesians 5:18-19 (KJV)
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord

When Femi moved to the city, he found that his neighbors were believers who loved the Lord. They would spend many of their evenings together; singing and playing the piano, sharing God's word and discussing things that edify. He observed that because of these things they did regularly, his life was now filled with the Holy Spirit. It was now easy for him to walk in truth and integrity. It was easy for him to walk in righteousness and holiness. His spirit was now free and he could now pray more. He saw that he was no more depressed the way he used to be but was now contented and happy. Doors began to open for him on every side and he knew this was because he was now walking in the Spirit.

The things you say, the thoughts you think, the songs you sing, the company you keep and the presence of meekness and thankfulness in your life are important factors that determine whether you will live a Spirit filled life.

As a believer, you have the Holy Spirit within you, but there is a difference between when a vessel is full of water and when there is some water inside it. God wants us to be filled to overflowing with the Spirit. This is when the God life begins to flow out through us, and we become more powerful witnesses for our Lord.

Go into today remembering that the way to fulfill your divine destiny is to live a Spirit filled life.

Prayer: Lord, help me live a Spirit filled life.Ask the Lord to connect you with the right people.
