Ephesians 5:18,21 (KJV)
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Before Efe became born again, he was a very stubborn person. He would only do what he wanted to do and could not be convinced to do anything he did not first conceive. He believed that he was always right; and it was very hard for him to receive and accept counsel. Because of this trait, he got himself into unnecessary complications in life. Many problems would have been avoided if only he would take counsel.

When he received Christ and became born again, it was difficult for him to submit to anybody. But he did not know that because of this trait it was also difficult for him to submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit within him. He found out that this trait in his heart was the reason he couldn’t walk in his high places as ordained by the Lord.

Many have the Holy Spirit, but many are not filled.
In being filled with the Holy Spirit, you must be submitted to the Lordship of Christ through the Holy Spirit. Moses had so much power with God because he was the meekest man in the whole world (see Num 12:13). You cannot excel in your walk with God if you are not meek in your heart. For God resists the proud (James 4:6, 1 Pet 5:5).

If you cannot love your brethren whom you can see, how will you love God? In the same way, if you cannot submit to your brethren, you will not submit to Christ.

Go into today remembering that among the many other things we do and become filled with the Holy Spirit, submitting to one another is very important. A heart that cannot submit to constituted human authority will not submit to the authority of Christ, and such a person will not be filled with the Spirit.

Ask the Lord help you have a meek heart (see Matt 11:29, Phil 2:5).
