Our Daily Bread

Matthew 6:11 (KJV)  Give us this day our daily bread.

Because of a new special assignment at work, Harry was going to be traveling frequently. Two weeks before he got the assignment, he saw in a dream that he was involved in a ghastly motor accident. So when this new assignment came, he was greatly troubled because he knew he was going to be traveling a lot by road and by air. He decided to seek the Lord concerning his fears (Psalm 34:4).

One morning during this period of seeking the Lord, he woke up with the words of Psalm 121:7-8 in his heart. He continued to confess it. It says "[t]he LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore."

That was the word of God for Harry in that season(day). Because of this word, his fears were allayed and he became bold and confident that he would be safe from all harm and danger, and that was exactly what happened. He finished that assignment successfully without any accidents and got a huge promotion thereafter.

Remember that the Lord is the one who says "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God'(Matthew 4:4). Our bodies need physical bread to survive, but the bread for our spirits is the living Word of God. When we ask our Heavenly Father to "give us this day our daily bread", we are not only asking for physical bread for the body, we are also asking for spiritual bread for the inner man.  There is a word from God that can carry us through every season, that is also our daily bread.

Go into today remembering that there is a word from Lord for you for every day(season) of your life. Your [spiritual] strength and prosperity depend on it.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to wait on you and receive bread to carry me through every season(day) of my life. Amen.

Forgive

Colossians 3:12-13 (NET) Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if someone happens to have a complaint against anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also forgive others.

I had a conversation with a man who was trying to prove to me that the teachings of Jesus were for those under the law and not for those who are born again. His biggest point was that Jesus taught that if we do not forgive others who have wronged us, our heavenly Father would not forgive us our trespasses (Matthew 6:15), but the apostles taught Christians to forgive others because they have been forgiven, not so that they will be forgiven.

I had to point out to him that what Jesus said was actually meant for those who are already believers because we are the only ones who can come to God as our FATHER. No one comes to the FATHER except through Christ. I showed him from the parable of the unmerciful servant (in Matt 18:21-35) that the unmerciful servant had first received forgiveness from his master before he was expected to forgive the other servant that owed him. His master did not forgive him because he forgave, but he was expected to forgive because he had been forgiven.

I went on to explain to him that the only criterium for receiving the forgiveness of God is to believe in Christ Jesus and accept God’s grace which brings forgiveness because of the sacrifice of Christ. If we consistently refuse to forgive others who wrong us, we are proving that we do not appreciate or acknowledge God’s grace in forgiving us.

As we walk on the earth, we are going to need cleansing by the blood from time to time (1 John 1:7). We would not receive this cleansing and forgiveness if we refuse to forgive those who have wronged us. Remember that we have to walk in the light in order for the blood of Jesus to cleanse us(1 John 1:7). Refusing to forgive your brother (which is a root of hatred) is how not to walk in the light (see 1 John 2:9).
Prayer: Lord help me walk in the light and please you in all things

Your Real Identity

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/audio1496

Colossians 3:10-11 (NET)
...And have been clothed with the new man that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created it. Here there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all and in all.

When Ada became born again and started attending a Bible-believing Church, she observed that the Igbo women in the church were particularly nice to her when they found out that she was Igbo. They started inviting her to visit them in their homes. She soon realized that they had some kind of union within the church. And that was the case with most of the major languages.

As she grew in her walk with the Lord, she noticed that tribalism was in her heart. She somehow knew that this was not right for her, but she did not know how dangerous it was until she read Colossians 3 and noticed that in verse 10-11, being a new man in Christ meant she was no longer to primarily identify herself according to her earthly identity. She saw that seeing herself this way was greatly limiting her spiritually. She found herself limited in her ability to fulfill her ministry because of this. She had to cry to the Lord for help and repent of this mindset.

Many believers do not walk in the fullness of their inheritance in Christ because they are still racist or tribalistic. They still primarily see themselves after the flesh and not after the spirit.

In the spirit, every believer in Christ Jesus is of one new race. We are all citizens of heaven. And there is neither Jew nor Gentile. No Igbo or Yoruba, no Barbarian or Scythian, no white or black. But Christ is all in all. Walking in the Spirit entails seeing yourself in the Spirit.

Go into today remembering that those who only see themselves through their earthly identity will deny themselves the full benefits of their heavenly identity.
Thank God because your real identity is in Christ.

Way to Kingdom Greatness

Click on this link to listen to the audio version ☞ bit.ly/aud2168
1 Timothy 3:13 (KJV)  For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

After Enyo served as a deaconess in her church for seven months, she realized that her boldness and spiritual might was greatly increased. She now had the ability to cast out demons and walk in the supernatural power of God. She saw that she now had the authority to rebuke sickness and disease. Her children who used to be very sickly were no longer falling sick because of her spiritual cover. Her mother who was dying of diabetes became miraculously healed when Enyo laid her hand on her and prayed for her from the standpoint of her new level of authority.
This was not always the case with Enyo. She didn't have the boldness to walk in her authority as a child of God, but her service as a deacon obtained for her a good degree: a higher level of kingdom authority.

Do you notice how much boldness and authority Stephen, Philip and the other deacons appointed in the early church exerted after they were appointed (see Acts 6)?  That is what the office of a deacon does to those who embrace it wholeheartedly and serve diligently. They obtain a good degree and great boldness in the faith.

Deacons are primarily ministers in the church who handle physical matters of administration, serving tables, etc. Their job in the church may not look as dignified as that of the elders or bishops, but such selfless service is the fastest way to kingdom greatness.

Those who run away from responsibility and work in the church of God are running away from an opportunity to increase their level of spiritual boldness and authority.

The advantages of advancing in kingdom greatness transcend time and space, they are eternal. When the kingdom comes, some will inherit thrones while some will suffer loss and be saved as though through fire(see 1 Corinthians 3:13-15). Our promotion in God's kingdom is determined by our faithfulness to kingdom service.

Go into today remembering that the way to eternal greatness is service in the kingdom of God.

Prayer: Lord, please give me the strength to serve you acceptably. Amen.

Expose Evil

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2167
Ephesians 5:11(NIV) Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them

Todd met Raphael during his personal evangelism and the following conversation ensued:

Todd: Good morning brother Raphael.

Raphael: don’t call me brother, I’m not falling for that church thing.

Todd: why, aren’t you a believer?

Raphael: yes, but I don’t want anything to do with Church, after all, it makes no difference.

Todd was really surprised at Raphael’s responses so he pressed on by asking other questions. He eventually found out that Raphael had become hardened because of the kind of 'Christians' around him. Raphael’s friends were all 'born again Christians', but they clubbed, drank, smoked and did other ungodly things together. So for Raphael, being born again made no difference.

The case of Raphael’s friends may be considered extreme, but there are milder cases where believers condone sinful acts around them even when they will not be a part of it themselves, and because they do not condemn but accommodate such acts, they cannot live as light in that environment.

Today’s text not only tells us to have nothing to do with the deeds of darkness, it tells us to expose them. As long as darkness is not confronted by light, darkness will continue to rule.

Go into today making up your mind to have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them.

Prayer: Lord, help me to always shine as light. Amen.

Death to the Old Nature

Download Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1493

Colossians 3:5-6 (NET) So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.

Fola was terribly afflicted in her body and she did not understand why this kept going on. She cried to the Lord for help.
One Saturday morning, Pastor Clara felt led to go pray for Fola. But before she started praying, she felt led to ask Fola certain questions. It became clear to pastor Clara that Fola was still living like an unbeliever, even though she was very committed to the church. Fola’s sinful life was the reason she was afflicted. She repented and confessed her faults to Pastor Clara and she became healed after Pastor Clara prayed for her and anointed her with oil. (see James 5:13-16).

The reason why believers must put to death whatever is in their nature that belongs to the earth is that we do not want to be partakers in the wrath of God that is coming on the sons of disobedience. Many believers suffer many things that they are not to suffer because they are still living like unbelievers.

Go into today determining to mortify everything in you that is not in conformity to the nature of Christ.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you to this end.

Church Leadership 2

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2166
Today's topic is further explained in the Devotional video. Watch it Here: youtu.be/9NdiuM-P-BY

1 Timothy 3:1-7 (NET)
This saying is trustworthy: “If someone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a good work.”
The overseer then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money.
He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity.
But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God? He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap.

Tade was appointed into the highest level of leadership of his local church assembly, but he realized that immediately after his appointment, he started facing terrible and unbearable demonic attacks. Also, he found that he didn't have the spiritual authority that was expected to come with his ordination into that exalted church leadership office.
As he continued to inquire of the Lord, it became clear to him and the leadership in the church that Tade was so afflicted because he was wrongly appointed into church leadership. He was not qualified and did not have the required spiritual authority to handle such a position. He was only physically occupying a seat, but spiritually, he had no authority.

We see from today's Bible verse the criteria for those who are to be appointed into the highest level of leadership in the church. One thing we must note is that these criteria are God's will and not man's idea. If a man is appointed into the highest level of church leadership but does not meet these criteria, he would only be a physical figurehead and not be able to wield the spiritual authority of his office.

So great is the authority of the church leadership that the judgment of the church should be more feared and respected than the judgment of any human court(see 1 Corinthians 6:1-4). When the church binds a thing on earth, it is bound in the heavens also(Matthew 16:18). But all of this is only possible when those who occupy the top leadership of the church are qualified for the leadership.

If a man meets these criteria mentioned in today's Bible text, it is an indication that he has the required stature and spiritual capacity to be appointed into the highest level of leadership in the church.

Go into today remembering that the spiritual authority and capacity you have is directly a result of your submission to the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, let every aspect of my life reflect my submission to your authority. Amen.

Receiving & Walking in Spiritual Gifts

Audio Version Here ☞ bit.ly/aud1861

Beware of scammers! No one in Streamglobe would call you and request any WhatsApp Code or money.
1 Corinthians 12:11 (NKJV) But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Aarav had always wanted to walk in the prophetic gifts because he had seen the benefits first hand. He always assumed he had received the [baptism of the] Holy Spirit, but through diligent study of the word, he realized he was not yet baptized in the Holy Spirit because he saw from scripture that everyone who was baptized knew for sure that they had received the Holy Spirit. But he wasn't sure.

Aarav was invited to attend an interdenominational Holy-Ghost all-night prayer meeting. He decided to attend this meeting because he was told that people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit there. During the meeting, the minister of God invited all those who wanted to receive the Holy Ghost to come forward to be ministered to. As soon as the minister laid his hand on Aarav’s head, Aarav felt great power come upon him that made his body quiver. The next thing he could remember was that he started speaking in tongues and prophesying. That was the day Aarav received the spiritual gifts of tongues and prophesy. With time, he observed that he now had the gift of discerning of spirits and the ability to know things that he normally would not know (word of knowledge).

Spiritual gifts are distributed by the Holy Spirit as the He wills. The Holy Spirit not only gives us spiritual gifts, He is also the one who powers (or works) them. So walking in communion with the Holy Spirit is the key to walking and excelling in your spiritual gifts. Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is key to receiving spiritual gifts.

Go into today remembering that God wants you to walk in spiritual gifts so you can be more fruitful.
Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver you from everything that hinders your communion with the Holy Spirit.

Church Leadership

1 Timothy 3:1-2 (NET)
1 This saying is trustworthy: “If someone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a good work.” The overseer then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher

Apostle Paul's first letter to Timothy was very instructive. It was written to give Timothy a guide for his assignment of establishing the churches and appointing reliable leadership that would continue the work.
In today's verse, we see Apostle Paul guiding Timothy on those who are to be appointed as overseers or bishops over a local church.

The first thing we can observe here is that the position of overseer in God's house is open to any believer who can meet up with these criteria. It is not necessarily reserved for those who occupy the ministry offices but for those who have had a track record of faithfulness in their service to the Lord.

Another thing I would love to point out here is that the leadership of the local church was not given to one man but a group of bishops or overseers. This is the same pattern we see in the first church in Jerusalem. The apostles were the overseer of the church in Jerusalem. Even though Peter was the one who preached in Acts 2 and 3, it was the [plurality of the] apostles that oversaw the church and made the crucial decisions like appointing deacons, etc.. Peter was accountable to them. For example, he owed them an explanation when he acted outside their tradition by preaching in the house of a Gentile (see Acts 11:1-18).

Go into today knowing that the greatest authority in the body of Christ is wielded by the church leadership. Those who attain this position are believers who have had a track record of faithfulness. Any believer can attain the zenith of kingdom authority if he would remain faithful. Faithfulness is the key to greatness in God's kingdom.

Prayer: Ask the Lord for the grace to be faithful.

Not all the Members Serve the Same Function 2

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2164

Romans 12:4-5 (NET)
For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.

Devin didn't fully understand the scope of his assignment in the Lord's body, but he knew he had an assignment and wanted to fulfill it. As he started producing short comedy films, he saw how successful they were and realized that the grace of God was responsible for the success. As he continued to develop himself in that area, he saw that great stories and ideas came to him very easily. It was not easy at first, but Devin was consistent and faithful, and the Lord made him very great.

Many people want to confer upon themselves the title of "apostle" because they want to be the greatest, and they believe that the office of an apostle is the greatest office in the body of Christ. They do not realize that Christ rewards us according to our faithfulness not according to our offices.

If you love and want to serve God with your life, start by waiting on Him and letting Him lead you the way He wants you to serve Him. Don't be afraid of starting small.
In the parable of the mustard seed and the little leaven that grew to fill the entire dough (see Matthew 13:31-33), in illustrating the nature of the kingdom, the Lord Jesus reveals to us that even though a commission is destined to be very great, it would usually start small. If we do not learn how to be faithful when things are little, we would not wait to see them grow into the greatness that God has purposed. The problem is that many people get discouraged and give up too early, but if a man draws his strength and bearing from the Lord, he would find the strength to endure the little beginnings and stay faithful until he sees the days of greatness.

Go into today remembering that waiting on the Lord and totally depending on Him is the way to walk accurately and fulfill your assignment as a member of the body of Christ.

Prayer: Lord, please give me the strength to stay faithful until I see the fulfillment of what you have spoken. Amen.

Not all the Members Serve the Same Function

Romans 12:4-5 (NET)
4 For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.
Even though Devin was anointed and had the manifestation of spiritual gifts in his life, every attempt he made venturing into [the church] ministry failed woefully. He sought the Lord because it started appearing as if God was the one resisting him, and it was true. God anointed him but didn't send him to be a minister to the church. He was to be a movie producer, producing movies that would influence a generation for righteousness.

One of the more painful things happening in the body of Christ today is that when a young man or woman senses the presence of spiritual gifts and the Anointing in his life, he automatically assumes that that means he has been called into ministry to the Church.

Every believer is a minister of God. This means we are all to be ministers/stewards of the reality, presence, nature, virtues, and knowledge of God. There are two categories of ministers in the body of Christ. There are those who are ministers to the Church and there are those who are ministers of God to the world. Those who are ministers to the church include the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers. They are ordained by God to edify the church and equip God's people for the work of ministry(Ephesians 4:12). Every other believer who is not in this first category of ministers is in the second category. Most believers are in the second category. They are ministers of God to the world. This does not mean they are not to be a blessing to the church, but their assignment is to be ministers of God to the world--representing christ in the various spheres of human endeavors.

Some believers in this second category are as anointed and gifted as those in the first, but they would know that their kingdom assignment is not to the church but to the outside world as light in a dark generation. They are those who would build institutions that, even though they may seem circular, would give expression to the reality and principles of God's kingdom(principles of justice, mercy, and faithfulness). They are going to be business owners, media influencers, academicians and scientists, administrators, government officials, and leaders, etc. They are God's plantings in the different spheres of the human experience. Their job is to represent Jesus in those spheres and bring the influence of God's kingdom there.

Righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost are attributes of God's kingdom. This means ministers of God in the business world(for example) would uphold just and righteous principles and shun ungodly quick gain tactics. This means those in government would refuse to join in the corruption and greed but would be examples of godliness and contentment.

There are some innovative businesses and science that God is releasing anointing upon His sons to introduce. All such anointing should not be channeled and squandered on 'pulpit ministry'. God needs His sons in the 'market place' as well as on the pulpits.

Go into today knowing that grace and divine help would be abundant when you are in the place God has planted you to represent Him.
Prayer: Lord to help you focus on where He has sent you and be fruitful.

Children of Your Father

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2162
Job 31:29-30 (GNB)
I have never been glad when my enemies suffered, or pleased when they met with disaster; I have never sinned by praying for their death

Don’t you find it interesting that long before Matthew 5:43-44, Job had this same understanding that it doesn’t please God when we rejoice at the downfall of others, even those we consider our enemies? Perhaps, this was why David would mourn Saul the way he did (2 Samuel 1:1-27).

God has said, ‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay’ (Romans 12:9), and this is because God alone has the moral authority to carry out judgment. It is a well-known legal maxim that he who comes into equity must come with clean hands, and then you hear Jesus say, ‘he that hath no sin, let him cast the first stone’.

When we repay evil for evil, we are appealing to judgment over mercy and submitting ourselves to be judged with the same standard and consideration with which we judged; suffice it to say that no man would live if God were to treat us in that way.

Now, beyond just allowing God exact judgment, we are not to gloat. Granted that your enemies might be reaping their just recompense of reward, yet, it should never serve as an occasion to gloat. This is because God delights in mercy and forgiveness, and He wills that all will access His grace and mercy.

So when next you are tempted to gloat, remind yourself the words of Matthew 5:43-45: ‘Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.’

Go into today meditating on these words of Jesus.

Make this confession: I am of God, I walk in love, I walk in forgiveness, I do not repay evil for evil and do not rejoice in evil but take delight in all that is good. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts- Prophecy

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1855

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Prophecy is one of the most coveted spiritual gifts. It is indeed one of the most powerful. Through it, you can predict the future, shape the future, create miracles, probe into the past, wrought deliverance, etc.

Word of wisdom gives direction concerning what to do in the future while word of knowledge reveals what has happened in the past or what is currently happening. Prophecy reveals what will happen in the future.

Some prophecies are revelatory while some others are creative. The fig tree dried up because Jesus spoke to it, Jesus did not say it would dry up as a prediction (see Mark 11:12-25). The famine that ended in Samaria ended because of the prophecy of Elisha, Elisha's prophecy didn't predict the famine's end, it created it (see 2 Kings 7:1-18). Elijah did not predict the end of the drought in Israel; the rain that ended the drought was created because of his prophetic grace (see 1 Kings 18).

There are things that when God wants to do, He would first inspire His children/prophets to prophesy them into existence, and then those things would be established on the earth. From Genesis, we can learn that everything God created in this realm was first spoken into existence. That principle has not changed even today. God creates things in our world today through His sons that prophesy.

It wasn't because of Paul's personal bias that he asked the believers to especially desire the gift of prophecy (see 1 Cor 14:1), it was because of his understanding of the power this spiritual gift can wield. This spiritual gift can bring about swift execution of judgment against God's adversaries, it can create miracles, signs, and wonders, etc--it is creative.

Go into today desiring and asking to walk in the prophetic gift. All believers do not occupy the office of the prophet, but all believers can operate the prophetic gift.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Please help me properly walk in my prophetic heritage as your son, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts- Working of Miracles

1 Corinthians 12:10 (NKJV)
To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

A man and his colleagues were driving in his car back to the office when suddenly one of his tires burst and everyone in the car could hear the sound. Because this man was a believer who had the spiritual gift of 'working of miracles', he didn’t stop but became charged in his spirit and commanded the tire that burst to “rise back up in the name of Jesus”. Instantly, the car stabilized back and they continued on their journey till they got back to the office. There was silence in the car from that point. An unusual miracle had happened. They all just saw their colleague in the office command his deflated car tire to inflate back and it obeyed. That was the day the man’s secretary accepted the Lord Jesus. (This happened in a Nigerian city).

Working of miracles is a spiritual gift that causes believers to have supernatural control over matter. This is the gift that can make a man pray for a malfunctioning car and it would start working properly because he prayed. It is the spiritual gift that makes physically impossible things to become possible. Supernatural healing is a miracle, but this spiritual gift does not just bring about healing to the human body, it causes inanimate things to respond to your words.

Go into today remembering that the ability to perform miracles is a spiritual gift that is available to you. Matthew 7:7-8 says:
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh. findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you receive and walk in all your spiritual gifts.

Operating Spiritual Gifts 2

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2161
Philippians 4:6 (NET)  Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.

While Ranjit was a little boy living with his wealthy parents, he never heard his parents argue or worry about money. But when he was ten, his parents let him go live with his cousins in Germany. They didn't want him to become spoilt like all the other rich 'trust-fund babies' they saw around. When Ranjit started living with his cousins, for the first time in his life, he saw people talking, worrying and planning about money. Before this time, he didn't know money was something to ever worry about or talk about because his parents were very rich.

When people know that there is an abundance of something,  you rarely hear them talking about it.
As important as the oxygen we breathe is to our physical existence,  because here on earth we have an abundance of it,  you don't hear people talking about air or worrying if there would be enough air for them to breathe till the end of the year.

In the kingdom of God, there is a superabundance of everything. So it is very out of place when believers become anxious about anything. The fact that you can't see the air does not mean it does not exist. The fact that you can't see a thing you want does not mean God has not provided it. You connect with the reality of God's abundance by expelling anxiety and walking in faith.

Anxiety is an inhibitor of grace. Whenever a believer is anxious about walking in any spiritual gift he has received,  that anxiety would only help to hinder the manifestation of that gift.
When you speak in tongues,  do you worry and think about the words you would say? Do you listen to every word you say to see whether it sounds right?
The truth is that you don't even think about tongues when you speak in tongues. Maybe that's why you walk in that gift so effortlessly. The same principle applies to other spiritual gifts.

Go into today remembering that a spiritual gift will flow when there is no pressure or anxiety in your heart concerning it,  but only faith and assurance that you would walk effortlessly in that gift because God has given it to you. Remember, if you have ever walked in a spiritual gift even once, it is because that gift has been given to you. Don't neglect it (see 1 Timothy 4:14).

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from all forms of anxiety so I can walk in the fullness of Your grace. Amen.

Operating Spiritual Gifts 1

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2160
Romans 12:6 (NKJV) Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them...

Do you remember when you first started to write? It probably seemed like the most difficult thing in the world,  but today,  you can write without thinking about how to keep your letters within the margin. You can write effortlessly.

There are many believers who have spiritual gifts that they hardly use. They know they have certain spiritual gifts because they have seen them manifest once or twice,  but they don't use these gifts. Just like with most things, with spiritual gifts, practice makes perfect.

If you have ever walked in any spiritual gift,  it is because the gift has been given to you. How painful it would be when believers get to heaven and realize that their kingdom work would have been more fruitful if only they learned to use the spiritual gifts that God had allotted to them.

Think about the most common gift believers operate today--tongues. Many believers walk easily in this gift because they believe they can walk in it since they see many of their brethren walking in it.

Before you speak in tongues,  do you have any doubt that the tongues would come? That is how all other spiritual gifts that you have received operate. You know for sure that you have received it and you don't doubt that it would become operational when you need it to.

If a believer has prophetic gifts,  and he is in the company of people who Prophesy easily,  just like it is with tongues,  he would discover that his company would boost his faith and he would find it very easy to Prophesy.

Go into today remembering that spiritual gifts operate by faith. If you find that you have received a spiritual gift,  use it, don't ignore it. Just the way you believe you can and would definitely speak in tongues when you want to, believe you would walk in those other gifts that you have received when the need arises.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to walk in my gifts and prosper. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts and the Powering Grace

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2159

Romans 12:6 (NKJV)  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith

We have seen here that grace is not just 'unmerited favor' but also the power of God at work in those who believe. We have also seen that grace can be multiplied through the knowledge of God (2 Peter 1:2); we can grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18). It is through the spiritual substance called grace that a believer casts out demons and walks in the miraculous.

When we say someone is an apostle or a prophet, for example,  that person has the Apostolic grace or the Prophetic grace. We have gifts differing according to the grace of Christ that we have received(see Ephesians 4:6).

Grace can be likened to electricity. It is like the spiritual electricity that powers things. Spiritual gifts can be likened to appliances and electronics that are powered with electricity(grace).
Because these appliances are gifts it means they are received freely. A person can believe in Jesus today and receive a spiritual gift today, depending on the circumstances and who ministered the gospel to him(see Acts 10:44-46). Spiritual gifts are usually received through impartation (2 Timothy 1:6, Romans 1:11). This happens when one comes in contact with a minister who operates those gifts. Spiritual gifts are also received when believers desire and ask the Lord for them (see 1 Corinthians 13:31).

Grace, on the other hand, is multiplied through our knowledge of God. The more we know God,  the more His grace would be multiplied in our lives. The more sanctified we are,  the closer to God we would become,  and the more His grace would be present in our lives.

The interesting fact is that it is possible for a believer to have great grace,  and have no spiritual gifts that give expression to the grace upon his life. It doesn't mean the believer is not a ranking person in heaven(and this has its indisputable merits),  it just means that the believer may not be as profitable as he would have been if he had spiritual gifts that were giving expression to the great grace he has received because of his robust relationship with the Lord. The ability to cast out demons is not a spiritual gift, it is a function of this grace we talk about.

It is also possible for a believer to have an abundance of spiritual gifts,  but not so much grace because he is not so close to God. This kind of Closeness to God is only possible with those who allow the word of God to sanctify them.
I must point out that the spiritual electricity(grace) required to forgive sins and power a holy life is much greater than is required to walk in spiritual gifts. The missing link for many believers is usually a knowledge gap.

Spiritual Gifts operate in the domain of faith- childlike faith. They are mostly imparted to believers through the Apostolic office,  or through the right proximity with believers who walk in them.

Go into today remembering that the power of God empowering you to live a holy life can power any spiritual gift.  Desire to walk in spiritual gifts and prayerfully seek impartation.

Prayer: Lord, help me grow in grace and walk mightily in your gifts. Amen.

Spiritual Gifts- Word of Wisdom

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud1850
1 Corinthians 12:8 (KJV)
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit

Chiamaka was really confused concerning who to marry. There were two eligible brothers who wanted her hand in marriage. She met the first brother during her youth service. She and the second brother were members of the same subgroup in church.

As she continued praying and asking the Lord for wisdom concerning who to accept, she felt led to discuss the matter with her pastor's wife.

Before she and her pastor’s wife started the discussion, her pastor’s wife prayed to commit their discussion to the Lord, but as she prayed, a word of wisdom for Chiamaka came. It was a reminder to Chiamaka of some prayers she had prayed during her youth service year. The word made it clear to Chiamaka that her husband was the first brother;  the one she met during her youth service year. Her pastor’s wife didn’t even know what Chiamaka wanted to discuss when the word of wisdom came. It made things very clear to Amaka and she now knew what to do.

'Word of Wisdom' is a word from the Lord that gives people wisdom concerning what to do. There are believers who have been given the ability to frequently receive such words from the Lord. They are those said to have the gift called ‘word of wisdom’. We find a good example of this gift at work in Isaiah 38:21 and 2 Kings 20:7. Here, prophet Isaiah said what was to be done in order for King Hezekiah’s fatal boil to be healed and his life spared.

Note that the spiritual gift called 'word of wisdom' is called so because it is an inspired utterance by the Holy Spirit to give wisdom and direction to people. It is not a product of learning or human understanding. It is prophetic in nature-- directly inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Go into today remembering that God has given us spiritual gifts in order to help us in different areas of our lives.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you receive and walk in the spiritual gifts He has purposed for you.

Dealing With Enemies

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1849

Psalms 27:6 (KJV)
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Remi was very aware and conscious of the fact that she had enemies who were against her. She grew up in a polygamous home, and by the time she was a teenager, it became clear to her that her stepmother was her enemy. Apart from her stepmother, she knew she had other enemies who were wicked and envious.

She had spent a lot of her time in her life praying against her enemies, and she was always having reasons to pray against them because they always had a way of showing up again and again. But as Remi grew in the Lord, she became more preoccupied with pleasing the Lord than anything else. Because of this, she found that she was no longer obsessed with the fact that she had enemies and was no longer afraid of them. She knew that she was now exalted above her enemies and there was nothing they could do about it.

God is very aware that we have enemies, and He has made elaborate arrangements for dealing with them. When we focus on our enemies, we may or may not overcome them, but when we focus on the Lord and live for Him, He would exalt us far above our enemies. They would no longer be the issue of our lives. The only thing that would be strong enough to be our preoccupation would now be matters of God's Kingdom and no more mundane matters of enemy hostility.

Go into today remembering that when we become God’s property and live for Him, our enemies will become God’s enemies, and we wouldn’t need to worry much about them anymore because they would now have the entire host of heaven to contend with. Read Gen 12:3, Exo 23:22, Acts 9:4-5.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you enter the realm of rest in Him.

The Lordship of Jesus

Get Audio Version Here☞ bit.ly/aud2158

John 20:28-29 (NET)28 Thomas replied to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Memunat claimed that she believed in Jesus, but not as Lord. Because she didn't believe that Jesus is Lord, she wasn't saved. She didn't have power over sin or over the powers of darkness. She was a victim of the spiritual wickedness in her home town and was about to die an untimely death when she had a vision of Jesus and saw that He was no ordinary man but is indeed the Lord. One proof that Jesus is not an ordinary man like everyone else is that His name is the most powerful name in the spirit realm. He is the only one whose name brings salvation(Acts 4:12), casts out demons, heals the sick, etc(see Mark Mark 16:17-18). If anyone accepts Him, he would be able to exert the authority of His name.

When Jesus had just resurrected from the dead, some of His disciples had seen Him, but some hadn't. Those who hadn't seen Him believed the report of those who had seen Him, all but Thomas who said he would only believe if he could see the Lord Jesus and touch His wounds (to be sure it is not an imposter). But after Thomas saw the Lord Jesus and touched His wounds, he believed and confessed: "My Lord and my God".

Acknowledging that Jesus is Lord(the owner of all things) is the endpoint of believing that God raised Him from the dead after the third day. If you truly believe that Jesus is Lord, then you believe that He is God. Only God can truly be the Lord (owner and controller of all things).

If a person truly believes that Jesus is Lord, believing that God raised Him from the dead is no issue. It is interesting to see how difficult it is for those who don't truly believe that Jesus is Lord to believe that he resurrected, and how easy it is for those who believe that Jesus is Lord to believe that He resurrected.

Go into today remembering that what saves a person is receiving the Lordship of Christ Jesus(Romans 10:9). The Lordship of Jesus is not passive, it is most active. It would affect every area of the life of a person who truly believes.

Prayer: Lord, help me walk in the blessedness of believing in you, even though I have not seen you. Amen.

Set Your Mind on Things Above

Devotional Audio☞ http://bit.ly/aud1478

Colossians 3:1-2 (NKJV)
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Tracy was living in Rwanda as an aid worker from the United States. Because she came from America and her family was still in America, her heart was more set on the things going on in America than the things going on in Rwanda. Even though she was very aware of what was going on in Rwanda, It was very clear that her heart was still at home. For example, she watched more American news than Rwandan news. She did her productive work in Rwanda but her heart was set at home. She was simply a pilgrim and ambassador in Rwanda and she knew it.

Before we were raised with Christ, we were first dead in our sins. It is because of our sins that Jesus had to die, and in Him, we all died. We were also buried with Him through [water] baptism (Col 2:12a, Rom 6:5). Through faith in the power of God, we are raised with Christ and now live the life of Christ (Col 2:12b). The perfection [of our resurrection] will be revealed when we are physically raised into our glorious bodies (see Col 3:3).

If indeed we live the life of Christ who is in heaven, we must think His thoughts. We must set our hearts on things above and not on earthly things.

This does not mean we will not live productive lives here on earth. It means we are pilgrims and strangers on this earth, and we live here with that mindset, while being productive and diligent in serving the Lord through our various ministries: jobs, businesses, occupations, etc.

Go into today remembering that your citizenship is in heaven. You are not of this world. You’ve been empowered to shine and not to blend.
Prayer: Lord, as I walk this world, please help me never forget that my citizenship is in heaven. Amen.

Lean Not On Your Own Understanding

Devotional Audio☞ bit.ly/aud1477
Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Biola was a very intelligent and hard working person. But the people she started partnering with were in the occult and were very wise in the things of the world. When it became clear to Biola that her new business partners were not sincere at all, and at some point they were even making enchantments to attack her, she had to cry to the Lord for help. Her understanding had failed her and she was now willing to trust in the Lord.

The first mistake she made was that in her business, she made herself unequally yoked together with unbelievers. She made the mistake of entering an equal level business partnership with unbelievers. At the beginning, the business deal looked very good and lucrative, so she entered it despite the check she had in her spirit. She entered the business partnership and leaned on her understanding rather than trusting in the Lord and obeying His word.

When you trust in the Lord and lean on Him rather than leaning on your own understanding, it means you will obey His word and live according to it. His instruction may look like it is not the smartest thing to do in your current situation, but when you do not lean on your own understanding, you will obey His word rather than acting according to your own understanding. This is how to trust in the Lord with all your heart.

Go into today asking the Lord to empower you trust in Him with all your heart.

Do Your Part

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud2157

Ephesians 4:16 (NET) From him the whole body grows, fitted and held together through every supporting ligament. As each one does its part, the body grows in love. (Also read Exodus 17:8-16)

The people of Amalek came to wage war against the people of Israel. Joshua rallied the men of war and met the Amalekites at the battlefield. During the battle, the people of Israel would be prevailing and at other times the Amalekites would have the upper hand. After a while, the people of Israel continued to prevail and never slacked until, as Exodus 17 verse 13 puts it, ‘Joshua defeated Amalek and his army with the sword’

But behind the scene on a hill not so far away some key players stood waging the war that Joshua was fighting. They are Moses, Aaron and Hur. Moses went, not with a sword, but with the rod of God in his hand. As he lifted his hand with the rod to the Lord, Joshua and his men had the upper hand. But every time he dropped his hand because of tiredness the Amalekites would gain the upper hand. So, Aaron and Hur made him sit on a stone as they stood holding his hand up. Then Joshua and his men continued to experience victory until the enemy was destroyed. So, the question is, who really won the victory?

The Lord did, using all of them. Joshua’s victory in the battlefield was dependent on the intercessory and prophetic work of Moses on the hill. And Moses work on the hill was made more effective by the assistance of Aaron and Hur. In God’s house, there is no one-man-show. One man might be in the limelight but there are others putting oil into the lamp so it can shine on him.

Growth/success comes when everyone is playing their part. If you belong to a local assembly (which you should), know that your part is important to the overall success of that assembly, it doesn’t matter how insignificant it appears to you or even others, there is a master weaver at work and He will weave your part into the whole and make a magnificent tapestry from it. Ensure you belong to a unit. So, whether you are an usher or a children Sunday School teacher, do it with joy.

Go into today knowing that God is taking your contribution in His house and using it to perfect His work there.

Pray like this: Father I thank you for the awesome privilege to serve in your house. I present my body a living sacrifice unto you as I perform my duties with joy. I ask and receive the grace to be diligent in it in Jesus’ name, amen.

Partnership With God

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud2156
Matthew. 16:19 (KJV) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever, thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever, thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Many times, God will not do what He says He will do except there is a man aligned to partner with Him to see His kingdom come in a particular sphere of influence. God is sovereign and all-powerful but has given the earth to man to rule and dominate (Gen. 1:28, Psalm 115:16). So whatever God wants to do on earth, He looks for vessels who are aligned enough to partner with Him to bring it to pass.

Most times we say we wait on God to act and change our situations when God is actually waiting for us to align and partner with Him so we can see the necessary changes we desire (and this could lead to delays of the fulfillment of prophecies).

We can enter into partnership with God by believing and confessing God's word until we see the manifestation of the word. It is not enough to confess the word but our hearts and mouths must agree so that we would not be double-minded (James 1:6-7; Rom.10:10, Prov. 23:7).

Go into today knowing that as a child of God you are a partner with God in fulfilling His purposes on earth. Don't give up, contend in faith for every of God's promise until you see its fulfillment.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to continue in faith until I see the manifestation of what you have spoken. Amen.

Fruitful in the Lord 2

Get Audio Version Here: bit.ly/aud1843

John 15:7 (NET) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.

It was really difficult for Bamidele to leave his dishonest ways, but he knew that if he was going to abide in the Lord and be fruitful, he could not continue in his old ways of sin.

Even though he was very intelligent, he was more used to making money through fraud and didn’t know any other way of making a living.

But as he continued to be taught and mentored in the way of the Lord, he saw that those who truly abide in the Lord and follow Him wholeheartedly in truth are those whose prayers are most powerful. He understood that this meant he could never be in lack and want if he remained in the Lord and was fruitful because then his prayers would be very powerful. He left his old sinful ways and started following the Lord. Some people thought he was crazy, but he didn’t mind. As time passed and Bamidele became more fruitful in the Lord, he would ask God for some of the most unbelievable things and they would be done for him. He eventually became a very successful honest businessman who made much more profit than he ever made during his days of fraud.

One reason why those who abide in the Lord are the ones whose prayers are answered the most is because through abiding in the Lord and being transformed by His word, their motives have been purified and their prayers and desires are now in agreement with God’s will for them. God usually does not answer prayers that are not in accordance with His will.

Go into today asking the Lord to multiply grace for fruitfulness in your life. Remember that anyone still conformed to this present world cannot be transformed into the nature that makes him fruitful in the Lord.

Fruitful In The Lord

John 15:4 (NET)
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.

Before Bamidele accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, he used to do a lot of dishonest things to make money, and he made a lot of money this way.

When Bamidele accepted the Lord Jesus and started being taught and mentored in the way of the Lord, he knew he couldn't continue in his dishonest ways if he was going to remain in the Lord. This was one of the most difficult decisions in his life. But he knew deep within his heart that what he had in Christ was greater than all the riches of this present world. He didn’t want to lose that (Read 2 Corinthians 4:17, 1 Peter 5:10, Romans 8:18, James 1:12).

Why would the Lord Jesus tell us to abide/remain in Him? It is because it is possible not to abide in him but go back to the world. If a believer does not abide in the Lord, it does not necessarily mean he stops attending church services, but it means he is no more living under the Lordship and government of Christ. There is nothing that declares rebellion to the Lordship of God like continuing in a known sin and refusing to repent.

If a believer does not abide in the Lord, It means he has gone back to a life of conformity to this present world of sin (Read Romans 12:2).

Go into today remembering that those who abide in the Lord are the ones who are truly fruitful.

Prayer Confession: I am walking in a manner worthy of the Lord and bearing fruit in every good work, in Jesus' name. Amen. (See Colossians 1:10).
