1 John 3:2

…But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

NIV

Daniel always wondered why David talked and gestured in a peculiar way each time he was to pray or lead a prayer. When Daniel eventually visited David’s church and saw the way their General overseer prayed and preached, he understood. He saw that his friends were simply unconsciously mirroring the manners of their general overseer who they revered and admired.

The more of someone you look upon with reverence and admiration, the more like that person you become. This happens unconsciously but it really happens to everyone.

In today’s Bible text, we see that we shall be like Christ when he appears, for we shall see Him as He is. Christ has put in you the nature and the ability to be like Him. This nature is activated when you behold Him.

Christians are to look unto Jesus always (see Heb 12:2). We are to behold the mirror of God’s word and see Christ who is the image of what we are to become (see 2 Cor 3:18). The more of Christ we see, the more of Christ we become.

Do you see Christ in your world; controlling everything?

Go into today determined to live a Christ centered life; bring Christ into all you do by always submitting to His government and Lordship. Remember that all power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (see Mat 28:18) so He is truly in control of everything in your life.

Prayer: thank you lord for calling me and making me your own. I pray you help me daily behold you more and more. Amen.
