Matt 16:24

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me…”

ESV

Easter is the day Christians all over the world have chosen to celebrate the resurrection of our lord from the dead. He rose from the dead that you may no longer live under the fear of death. He rose that we may live and have life in its abundance. He conquered death that death might not conquer you.

Anyone who must follow Christ and be fruitful must understand the principle of the cross. If Christ died for our sins that we may have reconciliation with God, we must also die to the flesh that we may have fellowship with God (see Rom 8:8). Jesus clearly states that "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me…”-Matt 16:24.

Taking up your cross means dying to the flesh and walking in the spirit. Dying to the flesh is never pleasing to the flesh, that is why it is called crucifying the flesh; and this is the only way you can please God.

Before you get honey, you must deal with the bees, before the Canaan land, there was the red sea. Before the glory, Jesus endured the cross. The cross is the only road to the throne. Any other road leads to destruction.

Finally brethren, human strength cannot carry the cross, it is only Christ that can, therefore look unto him and depend on him (Heb 12:2).

Prayer: Father, please open my eyes to the message of the cross and strengthen me to carry it faithfully in Jesus name. Amen.
