Mar 10:42

But Jesus called the disciples together and said: You know that those foreigners who call themselves kings like to order their people around. And their great leaders have full power over the people they rule. CEV

Power, position, money, privilege, and fame (although usually hidden and subtle) have been major motivations for leadership over the years. Jesus’ earnest urge to us in verse 43 of the scripture above is “Don't act like them. If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others”.

Our authority or purpose for leadership is not to exercise lordship over the people but a pressing requirement to serve.

Go into today, with this understanding that your positions at whatever level is for service and not exercising control over others. This is how to represent God is your position; by doing it His way

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for not leading and using my office most appropriately; from henceforth I will not be bossy to those people in my care, but would serve them well and set an example for them (see 1 Pet 5:2,3 CEV)
