_John 8:31-32 (NET)_
_31 Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”_

There are three stages to total freedom outlined by the Lord. The first is continuing to follow His teaching, the second is ‘you are really my disciples, the third is ‘and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

The first stage is something we have control over. Now we must note that Jesus was talking to those who believed. So this means it is possible for people to believe in the Lord Jesus and not continue to follow His teaching. These are those who don’t receive total freedom, even though they have believed.

We can choose whether or not to continue to follow the teachings of the Lord. We can choose whether to live our lives based on His standards, or based on the standards of the world.

The remaining two stages are a product of the first stage. Anyone who continues to follow the teachings of the Lord will be His disciple indeed. It is those who continue to follow Christ's teaching that will know the truth. It is the truth that makes anyone free indeed. The only person who can bring you in contact with the truth is Christ Jesus. He gives you total freedom by giving you the truth.

Go into today deciding more than ever before to follow the teachings of the Lord. Let His will guide every detail of your life.

Prayer: Father, please help me live according to the teachings of Christ, In Jesus name. Amen.
