John 14:17
The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. [NKJV]
Someone said to me: ‘you Christians have been deceived. You believe that the Holy Spirit came down after Jesus left, how about in the Old Testament. Wasn’t He in the world then?
I began to explain to him how God is omnipresent and does not need to come to a place to be in that place. Just like the sun is in space, but its light is present in the earth. I also explained to him how the Holy Spirit can be with anyone while He is in heaven.
What happened when the Holy Spirit came down is that He now operates in the earth from the hearts of God’s people. He is resident in your heart and mine. This is a mind blowing privilege.
We see from our test above that the Holy Spirit was with God’s people and not in them. In the new covenant, because He is now actually present on the earth and operating from the earth, He now dwells in God’s people. We are now one body with Lord because His Spirit dwells in us. No prophet of old had this awesome privilege.
If you yield to the Spirit and let Him work in you, you will be a brand new person. This is the reason why we can defeat Lucifer and his angels in this earth where they dwell; because He that is in us is so much greater than them.
Go into today thanking God for the undeserved privilege of being filled with His Spirit.
