GOD’S MANIFEST PRESENCE

Jonah 1:3
But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. [KJV]

Something about this verse struck me when reading it recently. I noticed that the writer said Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD. Does this means God is not everywhere? Absolutely not! I noticed that there was a depth of knowledge from which the writer of this verse wrote.

My Study of the word of God has revealed to me that the manifest-fellowship presence of the Lord follows His servants when they go to the places that He has sent them and when they do the things He has sent them to do. This presence does not follow them to where God has not sent them. Jonah knew this; he knew that going to Tarshish against God’s will meant leaving God’s (fellowship) presence. All that now followed Jonah was "God’s judgment presence".

God has given us the Holy Spirit to lead us; we are to follow His leading. Christians get into trouble or struggle because they act presumptuously without being led or because they walk in disobedience to the will of God.

Go into today determined to live your life according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Remember that God makes His manifest presence known when you are in His will.

Prayer: Pray that the Lord will renew your mind to perceive His will at all times; that the Lord will help you know His will per time and walk in it. Amen.
