Acts 5:32
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. [KJV]

Our calling in Christ Jesus after we have believed in Him as our Savior and Lord, is to be His witnesses. This is a heavy responsibility because we are called to be witnesses to events we did not see. We are called to be witnesses to the facts and truth that God's Son came in the flesh, walked the earth, worked miracles and signs, died for our sins and rose from the dead.

It was not easy to prove that Christ is the Messiah, even for the people that saw Him physically. How then are we expected to be effective witnesses of events we did not see? The answer is in the Holy Spirit.

In our text above, Peter recounted the events that culminated into the resurrection of Christ. He said they (Peter and the apostles) were living witnesses but added that the Holy Spirit also witnessed all on behalf of those who did not physically see them. Recall how even the apostles were told by Christ to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit before witnessing (Acts 1:8).

The Holy Spirit takes us even above physical witnesses. He empowers us to say and do as though Christ is speaking through us.

Go in the confidence of the Holy Spirit and witness for Christ today. Tell someone how Jesus came to save him from sin and sorrow.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I yield myself to be Your witness as Your Spirit works in me. Amen.
