Now as for you, the anointing that you received from him resides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, it is true and is not a lie. Just as it has taught you, you reside in him. [NET ]
The dictionary definition for the word anointing means the act of applying oil or an oily liquid. Today’s Bible text is referring to the spiritual Anointing that God gives to our spirits through the presence of the Holy Ghost.
Have you ever tried to open a stiff padlock or lose a stiff bolt? You will agree with me that applying oil would make it much easier, so much so that one might later find it difficult to believe that the padlock or bolt was once so difficult to open. That is what the Anointing does to our spirits, it makes pleasing God possible. Things we found impossible to do becomes easy because of the anointing. One way the Anointing does this is to teach us.
Now, to be taught you have to trust and listen to the teacher. Many of us are not walking in God's ease because we are not listening to the Holy Spirit and following His leading.
Go into today determined to walk in the Anointing by listening and obeying the Holy Spirit. If you are not yet baptized in the Holy Spirit, let that be your new topmost priority. Ask the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Ghost. You can also seek impartation through the laying on of hands of someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: thank you heavenly father for your word today. I pray you help me listen for your voice and always obey it, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
