LEST WE FORGET 2

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1JxRb6x

Deu 5:1

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
(KJV)

In our previous study on the subject, we saw how easily the human mind can forget God and His ways. Today we shall consider how to exercise our minds so as to keep God constantly in our memories.

Meditation is one way to keep God in our minds. Meditation is the process of deliberately bringing to mind certain thoughts. It is generally construed as 'keeping quiet so as to concentrate'. But an average mind will wander or stray the moment it is quiet. So we must define meditation by the Scriptures.

Meditation according to Scriptures is speaking the words of God with your mouth so that your mind can remember. It is retelling the mind what it already knows. This is what Moses did for the people of Israel throughout the book of Deuteronomy. God also told Joshua in Jos1:8 'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night...' (KJV). And that is one thing prayer avails us. When we pray, we are to speak the words of God to God and to our own life. That way we are reminded always of the works of God as well as His promises.

We will still consider other ways to keep God in our memory.

Go into today speaking about God at every opportunity. Speak to yourself. Speak to friends. Speak to your family. Speak to strangers. Find the chance in a conversation to talk about God.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to make it a lifestyle. To talk about Your words, Your love and faithfulness  every opportunity I get. Let me never forget You in life. Amen.
