GROWING INTO CHRIST

Eph 4:15

But practicing the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Christ, who is the head. NET

When a baby boy is born, he potentially has the capacity of a man, but he will not become a man until he has grown up. As a man, he would be able to easily do many useful things he couldn't do as a child, and take care of things. He would also be able to be trained to secure himself from danger. But as a child, he cannot do these things.

We are not to remain babes but to become sons of God. The fullness of our image is Christ glorified. We cannot walk in the fullness of Christ’s glory until we grow into His image. The more we grow spiritually, the more Christ is formed in us and the fleshly nature is shed away.

We see from today’s text that the way to grow up into Christ is by practicing the truth in love.

There are so many benefits of growing up into Christ that cannot be attained by a Christian who has refused to grow. If for some reason, a child does not grow up to become an adult; maybe because of a disease or a hormonal disorder, that child would never be able to do the things of an adult. There are many reasons people don't grow up into the fullness of Christ. We shall study some of these reasons subsequently.

Go into today knowing that God's plan for you is for you to be as Christ is(see 1 Joh 4:17). Let the knowledge of this reality guide your desire for spiritual growth.

Prayer: Thank you father for giving me an opportunity to partake in your divine nature. I pray you help me always walk in the consciousness of who I am becoming, in Jesus name I pray. Amen
