Eph 4:29

You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear. NET

Pastor Felix explained to Segun that anyone who constantly grieves the Holy Spirit cannot be filled with His presence; “one very common way people grieve the Holy Spirit is by unwholesome talk”.

Segun wanted to understand why ‘ordinary words’ could grieve the Holy Spirit; “what if I do not really mean what I am saying, will the Holy Spirit also be grieved?” Segun asked. “Even if you are joking, but your words are not edifying your hearer, you are not doing the Lord’s work with your mouth. Every part of your body now belongs to the Lord; let the words that come out of your mouth be such that it encourages and enlightens; let it give grace to those who hear you. Also, be careful that you do not spend your time uttering idle words. Idle words are words uttered with no particular purpose; such words cannot be edifying to the hearers. Remember that God has called you to be wise, and proper time management is an attribute of wisdom. You are not to waste your time saying words that are aimless. Even when you appear to be joking; see to it that the words you say make your hearers happier or more enlightened” Pastor Felix said.

Go into today remembering that the Holy Spirit is a very loving Spirit; the more you say the right encouraging words to people, the more you manifest His nature and stay filled with His presence.

Prayer:

· Thank the Lord for bringing you into this day.

· Pick a song and worship Him for His grace upon your life.

· Ask the Lord to empower you to say the right words always. Amen.
