INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIVING 2

image

AUDIO VERSION: http://bit.ly/1J1vg5b

1 John 5:3

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. [NLT]

In our previous study, we saw how it is important to know and follow the instructions in an examination. A student should answer test questions in the way that pleases his examiner. Instructions provide the guide for the student to achieve this. Life is not to be lived the way that pleases us. Life is to be lived the way that pleases God- the Author of life. And today we shall learn that pleasing God is no hard task at all.

Many people run away from God because they think that God is a Kill-Joy. It is the same old lie of the devil. The same way he told Eve that God was denying them the 'good life'. God gave a simple instruction in the garden, but the devil deceived man with that lie. God is no kill-joy. In His presence is fullness of joy and pleasures evermore (Psa 16:11).

God is our Father, not a task master. He would not make laws that are burdensome for us His children. Jesus simplified the laws of God and made power available for us to keep His instructions. He said in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest". And in verse 30 "... My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God's instructions are not a burden, they are a delight.

Next time, we shall examine two simple instructions for living as prescribed by the Lord Jesus Himself.

Go into today knowing that pleasing God is not hard at all.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I declare that I love You. I desire to live a life that pleases You and I know it is not a burden. Help me to understand this truth that I my teach others. Amen.  Not yet saved? Click here: http://po.st/QJ7qx3
