Rom 8:7-8
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

The mind is the seat of memory. How can the natural mind keep God -whom he has never seen- in his memory? How practical is this? If we must never forget God in life, something supernatural must happen to our minds. The Holy Spirit empowers our minds to remember God always. This is our consideration today.

Our main text declared that it is impossible to subject the natural mind to the laws of God. We see this truth in the experience of Israel as a nation. The people of Israel struggled to sustain obedience to God as they kept falling into their former ways. So God said in Ezk 36:26-27 'A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you... And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.' This is what the Holy Spirit does for us believers in Christ.

The Lord Jesus assured the disciples that the Holy Spirit would remind them all His words. He said in Jn 14:26 '...Holy Ghost ... shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.'(Also see 1 Jhn 2:27). This is one reason Apostle Paul enjoined us not to grieve the Holy Spirit; He is the surest guarantee that we won't forget God (see Eph 1:13,14; Eph 4:30).

Go into today, confident that the Holy Spirit resides in you. As you study God's words, be sensitive to Him as He brings God's words to your mind throughout the day.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill my mind. Teach me God's word and ways. Remind me always and help me to obey. In Jesus' name. Amen.
