BE HUMBLE AND SERVE

Mar 10:44
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.  (KJV)
One day two brothers among the disciples of the Lord approached Him making a daring request. They wanted to be seated one at Christ's right and the other at His left hand side. In other words, they wanted the highest possible positions in God's program. When the other ten disciples heard, they were much displeased with the two. And the Lord Jesus then set before them the Kingdom way to becoming the greatest; Humility and Service. The Lord went further to make Himself an example. He said 'For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister...' (Mark 10:45).
The quest for positions of recognition is rife among men, even in churches. While the desire to be the greatest is a God-given instinct in every man, It however gets disturbing when Christian workers think more of titles and positions that men value rather than the very service to which the Master calls them. Our overriding goal must be to please the Lord and fulfill His purpose in our lives. Bear in mind that whatever God's purpose is in our lives, it must be about fellow human beings. Therefore the more we give ourselves in service to these people, the higher God places us in His kingdom. The Lord Jesus did mankind the greatest service, and He was given the highest name; how much service can you offer mankind in line with God's purpose for you? That will determine your position in God's kingdom.
Go into today determined to serve in every capacity God gives to you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, create in me a humble heart of service. Let men be grateful to You each time they come my way. Amen.
