1 Jn 2:15

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. NET

Phoebe was wondering why she always found it difficult to obey the will of God. Many times, she found that she would have already made the decision that does not please God before she remembers that she is a Christian. She really had the desire to please and serve the Lord with her life, but it appeared that external forces were stronger.

Phoebe decided to take out a weekend to seek God's face on the issue. She knew God had a plan for her life and that she was only slowing herself down by living the way she did. As she began to pray, the Holy Spirit ministered to her that she kept failing God because she still loved the world; that anyone who still loves the world cannot love and please God at the same time.

One way of knowing if you still love the world is by checking if your priorities and your goals in life are material things of this world, or if they are things of God's kingdom. Is your life focused on pleasing and serving God?

If you are not serving God, you are serving mammon (the god of this world that controls money). If you serve God, money will eventually serve you(see Mat 6:24, 33).

Go into the day determined to worship the Lord and serve Him only.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray for the grace to love you with the whole of my heart, I pray you help me live my life to serve you only. Amen.
