Any man can obey someone he respects; but not many will still obey if the one he respects asks him to die. That is what Jesus did in obedience to God. He obeyed God to the point of death.

Hebrews 5:7-9 tells us how that Jesus made supplication to God (who could change His mind about Christ dying). And how He learned obedience, that is God's will must be obeyed not negotiated. And being made perfect in obedience, He became the author of eternal salvation. Here we see that obedience was the hallmark of Christ's relationship with the Father. Like every good father, obedience is the attitude God loves to see in His children.

The benefits of obedience to God are obvious. In Isaiah 1:19; God said we would eat the 'good of the land' if we obey. Obedience guides us into all the good intentions of God on earth.

Whether it is an express commandment from Scriptures or a witness in your spirit by the Holy Spirit that you have established, practice total obedience, knowing He has your ultimate good in mind.

Do you have any outstanding in your obedience with God? Receive grace to deal with it today in Jesus' name.

Prayer: Lord, create an obedient heart in me.
