1 Corinthians 8:4 (NET)
With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.”

During the time of the Roman Empire, the known world was submerged in idolatry and the occult. It was no secret that the temple of Baal at the top of a mountain In Pergamum was Satan’s throne (see Revelation 2:13), and most of the deities worshiped in places like Corinth were no small demons.

Apostle Paul was very aware of these realities. He knew that the wrestle of believers was not against flesh and blood, but those who set themselves as enemies of the church were tools used by the principalities and the powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, and the spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. But see the way Apostle Paul talks about idols and other gods in today's Bible verse.

The way Apostle Paul views Idols, demonic lords and other gods is the way Christians should view them. We are not to acknowledge their power because they don’t have power over us.

What a man believes has great sway over his destiny. Christians who go about fearing demons are usually subdued by them. But Christians who know that they have authority over them walk in this authority.

If a believer has any fear of any god or lord that is not the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, he is acting is disobedience to an express command of the Lord that says we should not fear those whose greatest power does not go beyond destroying the flesh (see Matthew 10:28). If this disobedience and fear continues, it brings the believer under the power of demons.

Go into today remembering that when dealing with demons, the first thing you must conquer is fear. Fear hinders faith, and the victory that overcomes them is your faith (see 1 John 5:4).
