THE MARKS OF A TRUE APOSTLE 1

1 Corinthians 9:1 (NKJV)
Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?

Femi had reasons to work closely with a servant of God who had an Apostolic call.

After his experience with this Apostle, he couldn’t help but notice how spiritually free the apostle was. This spiritual liberty was contagious. It was characterized by such joy and peace that words could not describe. This servant of God didn't put on any clout and was as down to earth as one can be, but Femi could sense the true peace and liberty that this servant of God enjoyed. He had dealt with other ministers before who proved to be untruthful, but this servant of God was different. He was free.

In today’s Bible verse, the first proof of apostleship Apostle Paul stated was 'am I not free?…'

One of the most important hallmarks of the true apostolic ministry is that it sets people free from the bondage of darkness. It doesn’t stop at bringing pockets of individuals into freedom but seeks to bring about national liberation. Such is the stature of the apostolic ministry.

Jesus commanded His apostles to go and make disciples of nations (see Matt 28:19). A nation can be defined as a group of people who have the same culture, speak the same language, etc. A nation is a group of people who have the same destiny because of certain peculiarities they share. There are nations within nation-states, and because of the peculiarity of each nation, God usually sends apostles to them with special messages that would resonate with their reality and bring them to the liberty of His kingdom. For example, we see that Apostle Peter was an apostle to the Jewish nation, but Paul was not (Gal 2:8).

For one to be a minister of freedom, it is expedient that he himself be free indeed. Many believers do not yet walk in freedom from certain symptoms of the old fleshly bondage they were born with. This is a process that only the Holy Spirit can execute. But we have to let Him.

Go into today remembering that who the Son sets free is free indeed. Ask the Lord to cleanse you of every vestige of the fleshly nature that may seek to find expression in your present reality as a minister of God’s liberty.
