Rev 3:14-15
14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write the following: "This is the solemn pronouncement of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God's creation: 15 'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot!

There was a stream that flowed through Laodicea whose source was not very far from the city. The stream was from a hot water spring. The water from that spring had a unique salty taste. Because of this, the water was best drunk hot or cold.

By the time the spring water got to the city of Laodicea, the water was no more hot but now lukewarm, and if anyone drank it lukewarm, it was very unpleasant and could make the person vomit.

Unfortunately, the church at Laodicea had taken the characteristic of the water that flowed into their city from the hot spring- they had become lukewarm.

Christians become lukewarm when they fellowship with the world and begin to gradually conform to the world. The atmosphere of the world is contrary to our faith. This means we must be careful not to conform to the world when we interact with the world.

Many Christians have become worldly because their outlook is shaped by the things in the world not by the word of God. This happens when Christians continue to fellowship with the world. When a Christian becomes worldly, he loses his spiritual fervor and becomes lukewarm.

Lukewarm Christians end up being a stumbling block to the advancement of the kingdom of Christ. They give Christ poor representation on the earth.

Go into today asking the Lord to help you keep your fervor and kingdom relevance.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me remain hot for you and never become lukewarm.
