EVER-PRESENT HELP

Psalms 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. [NIV]

Dayo had a knack for getting into trouble- and always getting out of it. As a younger person in the secondary school, whenever he was to be beaten up by an older student, his brother would show up to rescue him. Even in the higher institution, his uncle who was the dean of the faculty always ensured Dayo got out of difficult academic or social situations. One day in a conversation, Dayo told his friends that the first thing he looks out for when he gets into a building or compound is the exit. He said if he cannot find an exit, he will not enter that much. A few of his friends understood his logic from that day. Before he gets into trouble, he has seen a way out of it.

As children of God, we are by default enemies to Satan. We do not have to look for his trouble to get it; Satan is constantly planning trouble for us. Very many times, our Ever-Present God would serve as Refuge and we would not even know we were in the midst of danger. A few times, our Ever-Present God would serve as Strength to us and He would allow us to experience some of Satan's attacks and strengthen us to defeat him. Whether as refuge or as strength, our God is ever-present. He is always, always with us.

God said in Mat. 28: 20; 'I am with you always, even to the very end of the age'. Also in Heb. 13:5; 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'. 'Always' and 'never' are absolute terms. We can therefore trust God is very present, even when it does not look like He is (see Psa. 23:4).

Go into today knowing no trouble can even come your way that God did not permit. And that He will keep you safe always.

Prayer: Lord, let me never lose a sense of Your presence. Amen.
