Jeremiah 15:1 (NLT)
Then the Lord said to me, “Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I wouldn’t help them. Away with them! Get them out of my sight!

Some actually believe in the help or prayers of certain Biblical figures, to get to God. Others recognize His works but are only contented to enjoy the benefits, brought on by the actions of others, yet they themselves are unwilling to change.

Both stances are futile unless one approaches God directly, through a perfect Mediator. Mary, Moses, the saints, angels or our pastors, all fall short in making us acceptable before God. How so?

Acts 4:12 says "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved". (See Eph 1:21, Phil 2:9, Heb 1:4)

1 Timothy 2:5 NLT says "For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus".

Hebrews 7:26 NLT says " He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin...".

All others are/were imperfect but Christ Jesus remains perfect. So, while the written exploits of Bible heroes or God's goodness manifested by the godly lives of others should inspire one, without true repentance and a personal relationship with God through Christ, wrath remains (Eze 33:11, Rom 2:4-5).

What God expects is for us not to hide behind the holiness of others but to approach Him by ourselves, trusting Him to save and transform our lives through Jesus, whom He has chosen to be our only Mediator (Heb 7:25, Rom 12:2).

Today, commit to live a life of true repentance from dead works by trusting in the power of Christ and His blood, and as you do so, you'll come out victorious in life (Heb 4:14-16, 9:14).
