COMPLETE OBEDIENCE

Text: Psalm 119:60

I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands. NLT.

When obeying God becomes difficult; when it seems God's command does not make sense, what should one do?

‘And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbor in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

Then said he unto him, because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him’-1 Kings 20:35-36. KJV

Refusing to beat up a fellow prophet was logical and sensible, but it was disobedience because it was against God's command.

Obedience to God's word should be in a hurry. Do not seek to know whether or not it makes sense; only seek to know whether or not the instruction is from the Lord. Note also that for every obedience or disobedience, there is a reward or consequence.

Go into today knowing that God's word is the standard for life, even though it may not appear to make much sense at the time; remember that God’s thoughts and ways are not ours (see Isai 59:8-9). Therefore, make a conscious effort to obey God's word.

Prayer: help me father to hurry without delay to obey you. Please forgive my past disobedience, in Jesus name. Amen
