Eph 5:18-20

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

The Holy Spirit is the one who empowers us to be sons of God. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life is what empowers you to live the life of sonship. The life of sonship is the life that commands God's great power. Jesus was the one that said you shall receive power after the Holy ghost has come upon you (see Acts 1:8)... The power you need to live the life of holiness is supplied when the Holy spirit has come upon you. You need this power for every other thing you do in your life, for example, the bible says it is God that gives you power to get wealth (see Deut 8:18). This power is also known as the grace of God.

Our text today tells us to not be drunk with wine but filled with the spirit... You cannot be drunk with wine and filled with the spirit at the same time. But the point I’m driving at here is that in order to constantly walk in the fullness of God's power you need to be constantly filled with the Spirit. This applies to those who are already baptized in the Holy Ghost.

We are told to be always filled with the spirit and this is how we accomplish this: Speaking to yourselves in palms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your thanks always to God. Speaking to yourselves does not mean speaking to each other. This simply means going around with a Holy Spirit consciousness, there is always a song, a psalm, a hymn, a thanksgiving in your heart. When every waking moment of your life is saturated by these, you will be saturated by God's presence and God's power.

Go into today determined to be filled with the spirit by going out with a Holy Spirit consciousness; doing this by constantly singing palms, hymns, spiritual songs and constantly thanking your heavenly father through Christ Jesus.

Prayer: thank you lord for the Holy Spirit. I pray you give me grace to stay filled with the Holy Spirit in Jesus name. Amen
