Rom 4:16-17

16 So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham's. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. 17 That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, "I have made you the father of many nations."* This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.

The way to have right standing before God is to have faith in Christ. The reason why we are children of Abraham is because like Him, we have faith in God and we are those who walk by faith and not by sight or by our feelings. So we are recipients of the blessings of Abraham.

What is this promise that we receive because of our faith in Christ Jesus? We have the hope of the resurrection from the dead which is the redemption of our bodies; we will inherit all things and rule the entire universe with Christ. We already have the Holy Spirit now who gives us the first fruits; a foretaste of these things. By Him we walk in more power than the world has ever seen. We walk in freedom and bring salvation to those that are oppressed. We live a life that is no longer under the sway of the prince of the world because we are no more of this world.

Go into today knowing that you have received the gift of God and you are not of this world. You are not to be afraid of the noisome pestilence (e.g. Ebola Virus) or the arrows that fly by day (e.g. terrorist attacks like Boko-Haram bomb blasts) because you are under the shadow of the almighty (see Psa 91).

Prayer: Thank you Lord God for making me your child. I pray that you help me to never forget who I am, in Jesus name. Amen
