Genesis 1:28 (KJV) “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth".
Ursula woke up from her sleep because she heard her little child's cry, “what might be wrong?" she muttered. Hurrying to the living room, she saw her husband with a cane and heard him saying, “you are my child, you, therefore, must obey me". She walked back to the bedroom to continue her sleep but she couldn't, she kept hearing the voice of her husband, “you are my child, you, therefore, must obey me". Since the voice wouldn't go away, she sat up on her bed and eventually discovered that God was the one speaking to her through what was happening.
Just like Ursula heard, if you are God's son, you also must obey him - children are commanded to obey their parents (Eph 6:1, Col 3:20). You show that God is your father when you obey him.
God gave a blessing which doubles as an instruction in today's text, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion" he said. You see, God's sons are his agents on earth, they are the ones who by being fruitful expand God's frontier and multiply His dominion on earth.
Are you fruitful? Are you replenishing and dominating the earth for God? Is the kingdom of God expanding and gaining recognition because of you? Are you useful to God?
Go into today remembering that if you are God's son, you will obey him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to obey you in all things, so that my fruitfulness may appear to all. Amen.
