Known by the Lord

Matthew 7:22-23 (KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Biola's new posting in the Church's protocol department made her to now work closely with the pastor. She immediately observed that he was not a person of integrity nor was he a man that feared the Lord. He was controlled by the love of money and was also a womanizer. He had made advances at her twice already. She was really confused because this pastor preached fire and brimstone, and many miracles happened in his ministry. She couldn’t relate the man she now knew with the man she saw behind the pulpit.

The fact that a person works miracles and preaches powerfully does not mean he has been known by the Lord. The most common way people (including unconverted followers) receive spiritual gifts is through impartation and laying on of hands. That was one reason Apostle Paul instructed Timothy not to hastily lay hands on anyone (see 1 Tim 5:22).

It is only those who hear the voice of the Lord and FOLLOW Him that are known by Him. They are the ones He calls His sheep, and they are the ones He KNOWS (see John 10:27). These don’t just call Him Lord, but they do His will (see Matt 7:21). He calls the shots in their lives and they live under His authority and in obedience to His voice. They are known by their fruits (see Matt 7:20). 1 Corinthians 8:3 reveals that it is the one that loves God that is known by Him. Those that love the Lord are those that obey His commandments (see John 14:15).

Go into today knowing that those who are known by the Lord are those who listen to Him and Follow Him. They are the yielded sheep, not the stubborn goats.

Prayer: Lord, help me live under your authority, and please you in all things. Amen.
