Herefore I always exercise and discipline myself [mortifying my body, deadening my carnal affections, bodily appetites, and worldly desires, endeavoring in all respects] to have a clear (unshaken, blameless) conscience, void of offense toward god and toward men.
If you stain a dirty garment, it is already full of stains and when someone says "you should wash off that stain"; the wearer replies "funny guy, what difference will it make? I'm so full of stains, soap cannot wash me anymore, I'm dirtier than what soap can do;
Likewise a sinner who sins feels nothing extra. When you say "What you did was wrong", he or she looks at you and says "please leave me, na today? Even me sef I'm bad, you've not seen anything yet. God cannot love me anymore, you don't know the things I've done"
THAT IS THE MEANING OF SIN CONSCIOUSNESS
BUT when you stain a pure white garment, the stain stands out and the wearer of the garment himself or herself wants it washed immediately or as soon as possible.
This happens because the garment is pure white.
Likewise, when a person who has been washed in the blood of Christ thinks, says, or does something wrong, he himself or she herself will be the first to say "Father, I have sinned". If someone else points it out first, very quickly they say "I know, I know....I'm sorry, I'm truly sorry"
They do this because they have been made righteous.
It is NOT sin consciousness…

Having [the same] hope in God which these themselves hold and look for, that there is to be a resurrection both of the righteous and the unrighteous (the just and the unjust).

IT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS CONSCIOUSNESS!
Righteousness consciousness confesses sins easily.
A person who finds it difficult to confess his or her sins, faults, or slips; but tries to ignore or excuse them, is still suffering from sin consciousness.
