John 14:17 (NKJV)
The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

To know someone, you must have communication with that person. As blood is to the body so is communication to a relationship. It is the lifeblood of relationships especially one of marriage type, hence we must have communion with the Holy Spirit. How do we then communicate with the Him? We communicate in several ways when we pray, meditate or study the Word. An excellent communicator is one who listens carefully, understands thoroughly and responds with fluency and clarity. These 3 areas (listening, understanding & responding) are the major tenets of communication and so in order for us to abide in harmony and understanding, we must practice them in that precise order. This also means we must have the right communication tools.

a.) We must have Ears (Revelations 3:20). You must be able to hear and recognize the voice of one whom you live with at all times. Our spiritual ears enables us hear Jesus and have sensitivity to the nudging of the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel 2:22 and 3:24 talks about hearing him who spoke to him. This spiritual ears becomes functional by us knowing the word which is Spirit (John 6:63), which leads to us having faith (Romans 10:17) or the hearing of faith (Galatians 3:2,5). God is always wanting to communicate with us. He is not the One who is to blame. Like cable TV, the onus is on us to check our receiver and not blame the broadcaster. Are we listening to that still small voice?

As you go into today, ask the Lord to open your ear and help you hear Him more clearly. Hearing Him is very important (John 10:27).
