John 14:18 (NASB)
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

In a Russian medical research, the "orphan syndrome" was characterized in a study of babies from birth to 3.5 years of age, to have summarily personality disorder and deprivation of character which in turn required psychiatric evaluation. A look at some of experiences of the lives of those who were orphans will show periods of extreme worry, uncertainty, fear, anxiety, low self esteem, timidity, indiscipline etc.

Many live the life of an orphan spiritually without Christ. As a result they are at the mercy of the devil who unfortunately has none. Well fathered children are fearless children and that is who we are as we abide in Christ. The reasons for our fearlessness is because:

a) We have a father who owns everything (Psalm 24:1)

b) Our father has a Name which he also has given to us for our use (John 14:13, 16:24).

c) We can defend our family name and trace our heritage to that of royalty (1 Peter 2:9).

d) Develop character and boldness in personality to confront any situation (Isaiah 54:17).

Based on some of these evidences, abiding in Christ is us confirming our sonship as legitimate children and not bastards or orphans (Romans 8:15-16), bearing in mind that during the Roman era, an adopted son had equal rights and status as though he was biologically born by a progenitor.

Go into today remembering that God is always with us and will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5) and we can be sure that we are not going through life's difficulties alone (Isaiah 63:9). Therefore we must never forget who we are and where we are from. We must be comfortable with and proud of our divine heritage, ready to tell and talk about it always so as to bring back our lost brothers and sisters to the rest and comfort of the our Father whose delight is see us prosper (Psalm 35:27)
