Acts 19:18-19 (NET)
Many of those who had believed came forward, confessing and making their deeds known.
Large numbers of those who had practiced magic collected their books and burned them up in the presence of everyone. When the value of the books was added up, it was found to total fifty thousand silver coins.

I recently heard of a session where a few persons were to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and one of the participants said she was feeling sleepy and not quite in the mood for it!

Some get saved and start asking for money or a job or start looking for a prospective spouse that very same day. Finding none, they are disappointed.

That's why some say that those who got saved during the SU revival (many years ago) lived out a Christian life quite different from the salvation we have today.

I remember a brother told me of how he ran down a hill the day he got saved about twenty years ago, and all the way home.

Such was the joy of salvation. The whole world suddenly became insignificant compared to having Christ, and could only regain significance to the degree your involvement with it could glorify His precious name.

You simply lost ownership of your life and became a steward of grace. Whether you got an honorarium or aquarium after sharing the word with others did not matter. Singing and praying in the Spirit and being full of Scriptures was not a special thing. It was everyone's testimony.

There was a riveting passion that entered into you the day you met Jesus. It showed in everything from that day. You could not lie, you would not go late anywhere, you could not wear just what you felt like wearing.

There was the tangible Presence of Someone in your heart.

Many unsaved folks and secular organizations wanted an SU to home school their children or handle their finances

Nowadays, such a testimony is neither wide-spread nor deemed pertinent. In fact, we look down on such things and warn against holiness preaching.
To be saved simply means, Can you pray in tongues? Hmm.

Prayer: Ask the Lord to deliver his church from false teachers and false doctrine and emphasis.
